2/1 EPL DFS Picks and Props

This article focuses on 2/1 EPL DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Both sites have fairly different scoring formats. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

Southampton +875 at Liverpool -360 – Over 3 Goals -120

Sadio Mane will be out for this game, so the “Egyptian King” Mohammed Salah should be huge chalk in all formats. Liverpool played mid-week so aside from Roberto Firmino, we will have to see the rest of the lineup. I would assume Ox would get another start after scoring midweek but Divock Origi got hurt against West Ham. That might open the door for Takumi Minimino to join the attack. Liverpool has not lost an EPL game at Anfield in three years and come into this match on a 41 game EPL unbeaten streak, eight games short of Arsenal’s 49 game record. As far as their pursuit of the EPL undefeated season goes, they have fourteen games left.

I am normally all over Trent Alexander-Arnold on DraftKings but his price finally received a huge bump up to $8,000, making it much tougher to fit him in. I think I would play guys like Jack Grealish and Emiliano Buendia for just a little more. As for Southampton, Danny Ings gets to face his former team, but I don’t think I will go there. Certainly, Southampton’s central defenders are in play on Fanduel as they should be under fire. If Liverpool makes it through this game, they can rest for a bit so they will likely leave it all out there on the pitch.

Aston Villa +245 at Bournemouth +100 – Over 2.5 Goals –135

Bournemouth had been atrocious up until they finally came alive a couple of weeks back against Brighton. The Cherries have to hope Callum Wilson is finally healthy after ending his scoring drought last game and Ryan Fraser can get going in a game where there will be relegation implications. On the flip side, Jack Grealish should be one of the most popular plays on the slate, at least on DraftKings. Despite Villa being an underdog, he has been filling the stat sheet as of late. It’s funny because the game itself is sort of intriguing but there are not many players you would want to play from it, save the few mentioned.

Norwich City +230 at Newcastle +115 – Over 2.5 Goals – -115

Newcastle is a decent favorite here, as strange as that sounds. They get a nice spot against a Norwich team that has struggled on the road, plays very open, and allows a lot of goals. The problem is Newcastle doesn’t have the sort of players who can really take advantage of the matchup. However, the transfer window has delivered some goods, including a new wingback in Valentino Lazaro as well as Danny Rose from Tottenham. Maybe adding those two to the wing defender spots will help the attack a little, along with Matt Ritchie’s recent return “I’d assume he’ll move back to midfield”.

On DraftKings, you can use Miguel Almiron in cash if it makes him build work without feeling as guilty as usual and I think Joelinton is in play for tournaments on both sites. As for Norwich, I don’t see any reason why we don’t play Emiliano Buendia on both sites, given that he has shown he is matchup proof. Teemu Pukki remains on the radar, having scored in his last two games.

FANDUEL ONLY – Wolves +239 at Manchester United +126 – Over 2.5 Goals – -115

Manchester United was able to regroup during their FA Cup 4th Round match with third division Tranmere. However, aside from Anthony Martial whose play seems to suffer from Marcus Rashford out, this team does not have much to be afraid of right now. Marcus Rashford will be headed to watch the Super Bowl this weekend and will be out quite a while. Manchester United did acquire Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes from Portuguese Club Sporting Lisbon for $80 Million dollars. I would presume that his acquisition played a role in these odds. He has 15 goals and 14 assists this season. Given the way Manchester United has been going, I think he plays right away, but that is not a certainty and this is a late game. Bruno is not in the player pool so it is irrelevant for DFS this week.

Meanwhile, Wolves have been playing well behind their thunder and lightning forward combo of Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez. Supported by the playmaking abilities of Joao Moutinho, I think this should be an entertaining match and more a pick-em than the odds suggest.

Everton +145 at Watford +160 – Under 2.5 Goals – -120

This should be a fairly tightly contested game between two teams playing better recently under new coaches. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been pouring in goals and Gylfi Sigurdsson should be back so he makes for a strong DraftKings play at forward with his control on set pieces. Richarlison will be back as well and has scored in three straight games. We will have to see if young Moise Kean gets another start, as he has been showing signs of life as well. I would expect not with all of the other players returning. On the Watford side, Troy Deeney has stepped up his game as of late and Gerard Deulofeu has been providing a weekly floor. On DraftKings, if Jose Holebas returns, I think he is a good value play at $4,800. There is no way I would pay $7,000 for Lucas Digne with no set pieces due to Sigurdsson’s return.

Brighton +180 at West Ham +145 – Over 2.5 Goals – -115

This is another clash with relegation implications on the 2/1 EPL slate as the Seagulls head to London to square off with the Hammers. Robert Snodgrass is a tournament pivot from Jack Grealish and Emiliano Buendia on DraftKings but I wouldn’t expect many more goals. The Brighton forwards such as Leandro Trossard and Pascal Gros are interesting on DraftKings. Aaron Mooy finally busted out and had a big game last time out. He is a better play on DraftKings but solid on both sites given his abilities. The former Huddersfield man’s lack of name recognition among more casual players should continue to keep his ownership down.

Sheffield United +140 at Crystal Palace +205 – Under 2 Goals – -115

You have to get your goalies somewhere on the 2/1 EPL slate. I like Dean Henderson on DraftKings if not paying up for Allison and on FanDuel, Vicenta Guaita is extremely cheap.
