We have a beautiful 12 game slate on this Tuesday night so let’s dig in to my four favorite pitchers.
Chris Sale vs. Colorado Rockies – $10,800 DraftKings, $11,400 FanDuel
Chris Sale is finally healthy, he’s back! He gets the Rockies coming into town and I’m always a fan of playing a pitcher against the Rockies when they’re on the road. Since the start of May, in his 14 innings pitched, Sale has a 15.43 K/9 and a 1.68 xFIP. The Rockies strike out the 10th most in the league and we all know the immense strikeout upside Chris Sale possesses when he is on his game. I’m not really sure how chalky he’s going to be because of the other pitchers on this slate, but I love him as my SP1 on both sites here. I’m never scared of the Rockies on the road, as they are always much worse and Chris Sale returning to form helps even more.
Caleb Smith vs. Tampa Bay Rays – $9,500 DraftKings, $10,700 FanDuel
Caleb Smith has emerged as one of the elite left handed pitchers in the game this season. At home Smith has a 1.50 ERA with an 11.25 K/9. He has been especially tough against left handed bats, giving up a .122 average. This neutralizes Austin Meadows, Brandon Lowe and Choi, which is huge as he navigates through this lineup. With this total opening up at 6.5 gives me even more reason to play Caleb Smith.Although I think he is a little overpriced on FanDuel, he is certainly in the conversation for me for my SP2 or even fading Sale for him.
Charlie Morton @ Miami Marlins – $10,500 DraftKings, $9,800 FanDuel
I have no problem playing both pitchers from this game. Miami is a completely dreadful team as there are no hitters I am scared of. On the road this season Morton holds a 1.61 ERA with a .177 average against and a respectable 10.07 K/9. With the total being so low and Morton as a -130 favorite, not to mention the amazing pitcher’s ballpark, I think he is one of the most safe pitchers on the slate. My only problem is the price, which is a little inflated, but he does have the best matchup of any pitcher and that’s going to reflect in the tag.
Wade Miley @ Detroit Tigers – $7,900 DraftKings, $7,500 FanDuel
The Detroit Tigers have been horrific this season and that shouldn’t change much here. Miley has been pretty solid this season so far with a 3.18 ERA and a .225 average against. Now his strikeout numbers aren’t amazing, but the Tigers strike out so much that he could easily back himself into six to eight strikeouts. What also helps is he is opening at a -190 favorite and the win bonus would go a long way.
