Another Friday, another monster MLB schedule with all 30 teams in action and on the DFS main slate. While there are plenty of ways to go, below are the top bats at each position for Friday’s loaded schedule.
Catcher – Gary Sanchez vs. Ryan Stanek
FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $5,100
The Yankees’ slugger enters play on Friday seeing the ball really well. Gary Sanchez has a 1.200 OPS over his last seven days and a 1.126 OPS over the last 14. Getting to play at home, where he has a 1.065 OPS this season, should help the catcher continue to play well on Friday.
First Base – Freddie Freeman vs. Jhoulys Chacin
FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $4,600
After homering on Thursday night, Freddie Freeman will look to stay hot on Friday against Jhoulys Chacin. If the past predicts the future, he will do just that. In his career, the Braves’ first baseman is 5-for-13 with three extra-base hits against Chacin.
Second Base – Eric Sogard vs. Ivan Nova
FanDuel: $3,300 DraftKings: $4,400
The White Sox’s Ivan Nova has struggled with left-handed bats this season. The righty starter is allowing a .418 wOBA and a 35.2% hard contact rate to lefties. Eric Sogard should be able to take advantage of this matchup. He has a .415 wOBA and a .246 ISO versus righties in 2019.
Third Base – Alex Bregman vs. Rick Porcello
FanDuel: $4,500 DraftKings: $5,300
Over the last week, Alex Bregman has homered four times. Do not be surprised to see him go yard again on Friday. Boston’s Rick Porcello has a 41.8% flyball rate to go along with a 1.65 HR/9 allowed this season.
Shortstop –Adalberto Mondesi vs. Matt Harvey
FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $5,000
The Angels’ Matt Harvey has had a difficult time with left-handed batters this season. He has allowed a .398 wOBA, 57.4% hard contact rate and 2.16 HR/9 versus lefties in 2019. With Mondesi owning a .231 ISO against right-handed pitching, it is easy to see the path to success for the Royals’ shortstop.
Outfield – Cody Bellinger vs. Anthony DeSclafini
FanDuel: $4,500 DraftKings: $5,500
The Reds’ Anthony DeSclafini has been bad versus left-handed bats in 2019. He is allowing a .380 wOBA and a 44.2% hard contact rate to lefty sticks. This plays well into the hands of Cody Bellinger. The Dodgers’ slugger has a .423 ISO and .554 wOBA against righties.
Outfield – Michael Brantley vs. Rick Porcello
FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $5,200
The Red Sox’s Rick Porcello has had his hands full with left-handed batters in 2019 with a .405 wOBA allowed. The Astros’ Michael Brantley will look to take advantage with his .279 ISO versus right-handed pitchers.
Outfield – Joc Pederson vs. Anthony DeSclafini
FanDuel: $3,100 Draftkings: $5,000
Anthony DeSclafani has been hit hard by lefties in 2019. He has surrendered a 44.2% hard contact rate to left-handed bats. Look for Joc Pederson to hit a ball or two hard in this one. He has a .440 ISO versus righties.
