CFB Conference Championship Saturday Breakdown

Welcome back to another exciting season of CFB! We are ending the conference championship weekend with six great matchups for Conference supremacy. In the MAC and SEC we are getting rematches of competitive games from earlier in the season. Meanwhile in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, and Sun Belt we are getting games that we did not see during the 2024 regular season.

The purpose of this article is to break down the college football main slates, both on the DFS and betting sites. The article includes my favorite plays at every position as well as honorable mentions. You can also find my favorite bets under my Dragos Best Bets section.

Big 12: Iowa State (+1) vs Arizona State (O/U 50.5)

The first game on Saturday’s six game slate is the battle for Big 12 supremacy, featuring Iowa State against Arizona State. On one side we have an Iowa State side that is looking for its first Big 12 in their 29th season in the conference, and on the other side we have a Sun Devil team that is looking to win the Big 12 in their first season as a member of the Big 12.

Favorite Plays:

Iowa State:

Rocco Becht (QB, $7600). Jayden Higgins (WR, $7500). Jaylin Noel (WR, $6500). Carson Hansen (RB, $4000).

Arizona State:

Sam Leavitt (QB, $7300). Cam Skattebo (RB, $10300). Chamon Metayer (WR, $3100)

MAC: Ohio (+2.5) vs Miami-OH (O/U 44)

The second game on the slate is the much-anticipated rematch between Ohio and Miami-OH. These two played a great game back in Week 7 that saw Miami-OH beat Ohio 30-20. Ohio’s QB Parker Navarro was benched that game after throwing two interceptions. This should be another great matchup as Miami-OH is looking for back to back MAC titles and their third in six seasons. Ohio on the other side have not won a conference championship since 1968, and they have failed to win their last five title games since 2000.

Favorite Plays:

Ohio:

Parker Navarro (QB, $8500). Anthony Tyus III (RB, $5800). Coleman Owen (WR, $7100)

Miami-OH:

Brett Gabbert (QB, $6000). Javon Tracy (WR, $5500). Reggie Virgil (WR, $4800). Keyon Mozee (RB, $4500)

SEC: Georgia (+3) vs Texas (O/U 50.5)

The third game on the slate is probably the most anticipated game of the weekend. Number 5 Georgia and Number 2 Texas meet for the second time this season in a “neutral” site game in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Georgia is coming into their fourth straight SEC title game, 1-2 in the previous three. Texas on the other hand is playing their first SEC title game in their first season in the SEC after moving over from the BIG 12.

Favorite Plays:

Georgia:

Nate Frazier (RB, $5500). Dominic Lovett (WR, $5000). Lawson Luckie (WR, $3100)

Texas:

Quinn Ewers (QB, $8200). Quintrevion Wisner (RB, $6300). Isaiah Bond (WR, $5100). Matthew Golden (WR, $4100). Gunnar Helm (WR, $4000).

Sun Belt: Marshall (+6) vs Louisiana (O/U 58)

The Sun Belt Title game features a game that has been rarely seen, Louisiana and Marshall have only played twice in school history with both matchups being within the last three years. Louisiana is not a stranger to the Sun Belt title game, this will be their 4th appearance in the conference seven year history. Marshall joined the Sun Belt three years ago and will be making their first appearance in the Sun Belt title game

Favorite Plays:

MRSHL:

Braylon Braxton (QB, $7100). AJ Turner (RB, $5500)

ULL:

Lance LeGrendre (WR, $4500). Bill Davis (RB, $4900). Terrance Carter (WR, $4100).

Big 10: Penn State (+3) vs Oregon (O/U 50.5)

The Big 10 title game features the number 1 team in the nation, Oregon, taking on third ranked Penn State. Oregon took control of the conference in their first ever year in it. They have wins over then ranked number 2 Ohio State and defending national champions Michigan. Penn State on the other hand is making their first appearance since their win over Wisconsin in 2016. This will be the first Big 10 title game since Penn State’s last win that does not feature Michigan nor Ohio State. This game like the SEC title game will decide which of these two teams will have a bye.

Favorite Plays:

Penn State:

Nicholas Singleton (RB, $6600). Kaytron Allen (RB, $5400). Tyler Warren (WR, $7700)

Oregon:

Dillon Gabriel (QB, $8600). Tez Johnson (WR, $7000). Evan Stewart (WR, $3900). Jordan James (RB, $7700). Terrance Ferguson (WR, $3100)

ACC: Clemson (+2.5) vs SMU (O/U 55.5)

The final game of the slate is another battle of a team joining a new conference and immediately making their way to the top. SMU last season won the American Athletic conference and then moved over to the ACC and made the title game. Clemson who struggled earlier in the year needed some luck at the end, Miami losing to Syracuse, to make it to this spot.

Favorite Plays:

Clemson:

Cade Klubnik (QB, $9000). Phil Mafah (RB, $6700). Antonio Williams (WR, $6400). Jake Briningstool (WR, $3500). Bryant Wesco Jr (WR, $3400).

SMU:

Brashard Smith (RB, $8200). Matthew Hibner (WR, $3500). Kevin Jennings (QB, $6900). Roderick Daniels Jr (WR, $4000)

Drago’s Best Bets:
  • Iowa State ML (-102) vs Arizona State
  • Ohio ML (+114) vs Miami-OH
  • Texas -3 (-108) vs Georgia
  • Louisiana -6 (-110) vs Marshall
  • Oregon Alt Line -5.5 (+111) vs Penn State
  • SMU -2.5 (-115) vs Clemson
