Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 3/28

Tonight’s NBA GPP Picks 3/28 slate is a short three-game slate. It should still be an intriguing slate with plenty of higher-priced players to pay for with not a ton of value currently. That can always change in a jiffy which makes joining the Discord Chat rooms important to adjust on the fly to any news.

In Discord, you will find the WinDaily staff and I help you stay updated with news and answering any questions you have. One of the main things to keep an eye on for me is who starts for Orlando. The two high-scoring games tonight are expected to be Portland vs Toronto and Atlanta vs Denver. Let’s get into this exciting three-game slate!

Today’s article will be slightly different due to the short three-game slate for NBA GPP Picks 3/28. I will go over each game and breakdown my favorite plays from each game. Due to a short slate, I may not cover every position due to the short slate. This article will be using DraftKings pricing throughout.

Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 3/28

Portland Trail Blazers vs Toronto Raptors

Blazers

Norman Powell – ($6,600)

Entering today Damian Lillard is questionable which if he sits McCollum, and Powell will likely be successful again. In his debut with Portland Powell played 36 minutes will absorb 22% of the team’s usage. Now he gets to face his former squad who is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to small forwards. I believe McCollum is also an excellent option if Lillard sits as he saw a 37% usage rate last game when Lillard was out.

Anfernee Simons – ($4,000)

When Lillard sat last time out against Orlando Simons saw 25 minutes off the bench scoring nearly 25 fantasy points. If we see that Lillard is out again Simons is still at a cheap enough salary to roll out for this small three-game slate. He is shooting 42% from three and almost strictly shoots threes when he is out there. If Lillard is missing again the more minutes Simons will see to chuck threes.

Raptors

Pascal Siakam- ($7,600)

Since returning from his Covid absence Siakam has scored over 43 fantasy points in four of those six games. His usage has been fantastic since he has returned averaging over 27.5% usage during those six games. The Trail Blazers haven’t been great against power forwards allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to them. A matchup with Portland who is the second-worst defensive team in the league makes this matchup juicy.

Gary Trent Jr- ($4,800)
In his debut with Toronto Trent played 31 minutes shooting 11 times against a good defensive Suns team. Tonight, Trent faces his former team who ranks second-worst in team defense this season. This game is projected as the highest total on the night and having pieces will be important. It is tough because this game doesn’t have many cheap options. A salary below 5K is enticing for a player that played 31 minutes in his team debut.

Atlanta Hawks vs Denver Nuggets

Hawks

Trae Young – ($8,900)
He is capable of going off at any time and when Young is below 9K he is tough to ignore. It has been three straight games where Young has scored at least 47 fantasy points. His minutes have been high as his lowest minute total in the last three is 36 and now Rondo is missing. We also have been informed Lou will not make his debut. He won’t be a priority for me but is always an option.

Bogdan Bogdanovic- ($4,900)

We will need to keep an eye on the status of De’Andre Hunter here. If he plays, I will likely jump of Bogdan. Recently Bogdan has been consistently seeing double-digit shot attempts. Now with Rondo gone, he has the potential to get some backup point guard minutes. His usage rate of late is averaging around 20% and we have seen a 35-point upside in two of his past five games.

Nuggets
Jamal Murray – ($7,700)

These two met just over a month ago and Jokic struggled against Clint Capela’s defense. With the acquisition of Javale McGee, I feel we could see Denver ease back Joker’s minutes leading up to the playoffs. That led to Jamal Murray scoring 30 real points and over 45 fantasy points. I would expect much of the same especially with Atlanta giving up the third-most fantasy points to point guards this season.

Since I am not playing Jokic I will be playing Jamal and will have to wait and see if the newly acquired Nuggets pieces will play in this game. It would mostly be Murray or Jokic for me regardless.

Orlando Magic vs Los Angeles Lakers

Magic
First off, I want to mention the newly acquired players will be available for tonight’s game.
Otto Porter Jr – ($5,500)
Again, I believe Porter will have a sizeable role with his new squad. I am a larger fan of Porter if Ross sits due to the large volume of shots Ross takes. The Lakers have been playing at the seventh-fastest pace over the last five games, most of those without Lebron. I’m going to stress checking the starting lineup and Discord Chat throughout the day as we try to learn more.

RJ Hampton – ($3,500)
If Ross is out there should be minutes to go around in the Magic backcourt. I would think that Hampton could get the starting nod over Dwayne Bacon. There are no crazy stats here since this will be his debut with his new squad. Check the starting lineups before lock to see who the Magic start.

Lakers
Montrezl Harrell – ($7,400)

When Lebron and AD are out Harrell leads the lakers in usage rate at 26.6%. During his time on the floor, he is averaging 1.25 fantasy points per minute. The minutes have been up too as Harrell has seen over 30 minutes in five straight games now. A matchup against a newly put-together Magic squad is extremely enticing on a small slate. Especially if we look at what Nurkic and Kanter were able to do against them on Friday.

Dennis Schroder – ($7,100)
Just behind Harrell in usage with those two out is Schroder at 26.3% and is average over a fantasy point per minute in that time. We have seen him score 35 fantasy points or more in three of the four games Lebron has been out. His minutes have constantly been above 30 lately including 39 minutes against the 76ers. These Lakers could go overlooked facing a new-look Magic team.

Final Thoughts

It seems abnormal to have a slate this small in the NBA DFS world this season. This three-game NBA GPP Picks 3/28 slate should still be a fun one. Most of these teams are still working out their rotations since the trade deadline, especially in Orlando. We currently don’t see a ton of value but that can always change so don’t forget to join Discord Chat rooms. That will wrap up this weekend of NBA GPP Picks. Thank you for reading my article and I hope you enjoyed it. Good luck with your lineups and have a great Sunday!
