Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 3/21

Tonight, we get a few more games with six to breakdown for NBA GPP Picks 3/21. Yesterday saw Lebron get hurt and will miss an extended period opening up Laker’s value. Then Ben Simmons got ruled out shortly before the lock and that is something to keep an eye on coming into today. With that being said it is important to join the WinDaily staff and me in the Discord Chat rooms to follow all NBA news and stay updated on the top plays.

On this slate, there is a barn burner of a game between Brooklyn and Washington projected for 245 points! That is an important stat because four of the other six games are projected for 217-point totals or lower. Let’s get into this wonderful six-game Sunday evening slate!

For this article, I will be breaking down my top two players for each position specifically with the GPP strategy in mind. This piece will be referring to DraftKings pricing.

Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 3/21

Point Guard

James Harden – ($10,900)
You can’t ask for a much better matchup if you’re Harden. He is facing the fastest-paced team in the league who also ranks fourth-worst in defensive rating. Looking specifically at point guards, Washington has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to them this year. We know the usage will be there regardless for Harden so Blake Griffin playing won’t take me off him. Pending ownership throughout the day I like Luka as a top expensive option as well.

Shake Milton – ($5,300)
Milton has led the team in usage for two straight games without Curry, Embiid, and Simmons last night. Even if Simmons plays tonight Milton leads the team in usage at 29.8% when Embiid, and Curry out. He is also averaging over a fantasy point per minute with those two absent. That Knick’s backcourt has been banged up and has several players questionable heading into tonight. The 5.8% usage increase and the minute increase should allow Milton to pay off this reasonable price tag.

Shooting Guard

Bradley Beal – ($9,300)

If we play Harden, we should run it back on the Washington side and I am a fan of the savings of Beal. We see Beal still contains the highest usage rate on the team at 33%. The Nets rank as the sixth-worst team in defensive efficiency. The minutes for Beal are high as he has recorded 34 or more minutes in thirteen of his last fifteen games. He has squared off against the Nets twice this season and is averaging more than 52 fantasy points. This game should produce points galore and having two studs in it even Westbrook with Kyrie is a good option.

Cj McCollum – ($7,300)

The Blazers just faced Dallas and will match up with them again tonight. In that game, McCollum scored 46.5 fantasy points while playing 28 minutes. He has yet to see over 30 minutes since returning but that should change tonight. His price is extremely favorable as well for a player with a 37 % usage rate in his last two games. When these two teams just played the total for the game was 244 so we could have another shoot out much like BKN vs WSH.

Small Forward

Jerami Grant – ($7,300)

We see Grant soak up the majority of Detroit’s usage at an average of 31%. In his game against Chicago just over a month ago Grant dropped 48 fantasy points with 43 real points. If Chicago rolls out the same starting lineup they have been I believe that Grant vs Thadeus young or Lauri Markkanen is a huge miss-match. This is a massive pace-up spot for Detroit facing the seventh-fastest team in the league.

Talen Horton Tucker – ($4,200)

I don’t love the matchup but the price and his usage should allow him to hit value still. As I mentioned earlier Lebron will be out as well as Anthony Davis remaining out. When those two are off the floor Tucker is averaging a 25% usage rate while recording 1.08 fantasy points per minute. In the two games, he saw over 25 minutes recently Tucker scored over 30 fantasy points in both.

Power Forward

Lauri Markkanen – ($5,500)

Part of this play is simply because Markkanen is too cheap at this price tag. He has shown a 40-point upside before which would offer us nearly 8X compared to his salary at this price. The Bulls have been starting Markkanen/Thadeus Young at center and Detroit is sacrificing the most fantasy points to centers on the season. The price is fantastic and the matchup is there for Markkanen to succeed.

Isaac Bonga – ($3,000)
If you want to try to get Harden and Luka in your lineups, you’re going to need value. What better place to find it than the highest projected total game? In Washington’s last game Bertans got hurt which allowed Bonga to record his season-high in minutes 19. In those minutes he scored 14 fantasy points. Wizard’s coach Scott Brooks named Bonga specifically to see more opportunities with Bertans out. This is for large field GPP’s only as it is a risky play going off the words of the coach.

Center

Pascal Siakam – ($7,200)
A nice price tag Is a big reason Siakam is in play here. He did just go off for 50 fantasy points against the Jazz also. If we look back before his lengthy Covid absence he scored 33 or more fantasy points in eleven straight games. The minutes were up against Utah and Siakam should be relieved of any restrictions he did have. It is also worth mentioning that since Nance has returned for Cleveland, they have given up the most fantasy points to power forwards.

Montrezl Harrell – ($6,500)
When Lebron and Davis are both off the court Harrell sees the highest usage rate on the team at 27.9%. That is a 6.5% increase from when they do play. During that time without those two, he is seeing 1.33 fantasy points per minute. The matchup versus Phoenix isn’t great but there is a ton of usage to absorb for LA that it makes them tough to ignore. I like both Harrell and Kuzma here as both should see plenty of looks with the two Lakers stars absent.
