UFC 273
VOLKANOVSKI V THE KOREAN ZOMBIE
After a break week last week we have a MONSTER card with us this week! Three of the most anticipated fights of the year are going down TONIGHT! Today’s slate will start at 6:00 PM ET. Today’s slate has two title fights, and a welterweight fight with MASSIVE stakes who are both looking to kickstart their championship fight claims with a win tonight! Read more below to find out my takes on tonight’s matchups! Tonight there will be 12-fights that will take us well into the night! Looking forward to breaking this one down! Let’s get started!
SLATE STARTS AT 6:00 PM ET
Exposure to the main event (and co-main) is acceptable. DFS production in these fights are usually be high as they are five-round fights. I may be branching away from the Main Event for some of my lines due to the low activity among these fighters. There will be three top plays followed by honorable mentions. The Main Event WILL NOT be featured as one of my top three plays (Top Value Play, Locked In-Play, or Top Scoring Play) but WILL be featured in my Honorable Mentions category. Now let’s get ready to make some money!
Tonight I’m here to give you my top three favorite DFS and Sports betting picks for UFC 273 Volkanovski vs the Korean Zombie
MY UFC VALUE TARGET (CASH&GPP):
Mark O. Madsen (+110) (DK 7800) (FD $12) vs. Vinc Pichel (-138) (DK 8400) (FD $17).
We’re starting off today’s article with a bang! In one corner, we have Olympic medalist Mark Madsen facing off against veteran UFC fighter Vinc Pichel. Both are on the older side of the UFC roster and will be looking to make their final ascension to the top of the UFC. Madsen started in the MMA game late in his life and as a result still holds and undefeated UFC record. Madsen’s game is very dominated by his wrestling and although Vinc Pichel has an underrated clinch game, Madsen is simply a level above in the wrestling department. In my opinion this will be the story of the fight. If the fight does stay on the feet, Madsen can strike well as we saw in his fight against Clay Guida. I think the most telling stat that you should take away from this fight is that both Pichel and Madsen fought Austin Hubbard and won. Pichel got taken down four times by Hubbard and Madsen took Hubbard down eight times.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Mark O. Madsen (+110) (DK 7800) (FD $12). UNANIMOUS DECISION.
MY UFC LOCKED-IN TARGET (CASH):
Khamzat Chimaev (-500) (DK 9400) (FD $22) vs. Gilbert Burns (+380) (DK 6800) (FD $8).
Here we go!!! The return of one of the most anticipated UFC fighters ever! Khamzat Chimaev is making his return to the Octagon against number 3 ranked welterweight, and decorated BJJ champion Gilbert Burns. Here we will see the ultimate test of BJJ specialist vs Wrestler as these two fighters have reach the pinnacle of their respective disciplines. Chimaev is the heavy favourite in this one for a reason. He simply has figured out every part of his game and the scariest aspects are the parts of his game we haven’t seen yet. For starters, Chimaev’s chain wrestling is beyond excellent, as we saw against Li Jingliang, it doesn’t matter if you stop the first takedown attempt because there are many more coming until you lose control of the fight. What we saw Chimaev do in his last fight against a ranked opponent was beyond belief, it was not even close. The pressure, the striking and the wrestling dominance give Khamzat such an advantage in his fights and I’ll simply close of this section by saying in his four UFC wins his only absorbed 1 Significant Strike. He’s had a 77% striking accuracy over those four UFC fights and a 66% takedown accuracy. Simply unreal domination.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Khamzat Chimaev (-500) (DK 9400) (FD $22) FIRST-ROUND KO (possible FIRST-ROUND SUBMISSION).
MY UFC TOP SCORING TARGET (GPP):
Petr Yan (-160) (DK 9300) (FD $21) vs. Aljamain Sterling (+130) (DK 6900) (FD $14).
Here we got the tale of two different fighters. Sterling is a well round fighter who relies on his clinch game for success, which we saw when he handily defeated Cory Sandhagen. Whereas Yan is a powerful Kickboxer who has some of the best boxing fundamentals in the UFC. Yan’s kickboxing skills have been honed at the legendary Tiger Muy Thai gym and his striking patience and fight IQ (except for knowing when its legal to throw a knee) is at such a high level that many fighters don’t know how to approach a fight against him. Not to mention that he has tremendous power as we saw in his title clinching effort against Jose Aldo, who to this day is still competing at the top level of the UFC. Yan’s biggest asset is his patience. It’s clear from Yan’s fights that he spends the first round or two making reads on his opponent and gauging where the significant threats are. This came to the fore a lot in his first fight against Aljamain as well as his fight against Sandhagen where the fight started close when Yan was not throwing his hands as much but as the fight went on, Yan began to take more and more of an advantage and would end up dominating the fight in the later rounds. I expect a similar kind of technical striking match in this one. Sterling’s striking simply isn’t at Yan’s level as Sterling relies a lot on his Jabs and Straights which don’t impart a lot of damage and can become easy to read as the fight goes on. It was clear to anyone who was watching that the third and fourth round were slipping away from Sterling as he was getting repeatedly tripped by Yan and a lot of Yan’s powerful strikes were starting to accumulate. Compared to any of the fights on this card, this one has the most story behind it between the two opponents and is definitely one of the most anticipated title fights of the year.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Petr Yan (-160) (DK 9300) (FD $21) FOURTH-ROUND KO.
UFC HONORABLE MENTIONS:
(Not in order)
Alexander Volkanovski (5 ROUNDER) -700 (DK 9500) (FD $23)
Piera Rodriguez (FADE) -138 (DK 8300) (FD $17)
Julio Arce -175 (DK 9000) (FD $19) (Santos is a good DFS Play)
Raquel Pennington (FADE) -175 (DK 8900) (FD $19)
Mike Malott -175 (DK 8800) (FD $20)
Anthony Hernandez -188 (DK 8700) (FD $20)
Ian Garry -400 (DK 9200) (FD $20) (Darian Weeks is a solid DEEP GPP Play)
Mackenzie Dern -125 (DK 8200) (FD $17)
Aleksei Oleinik -110 (DK 8100) (FD $16)
SUMMARY:
On Saturday’s fourteen-bout MMA UFC DFS slate, I will be building 4 UFC Parlays. I will be focusing on the three targets and my honorable mention fighters listed in my article to be a part of 99.9 percent of my lineups. Some fights in this slate are tricky to predict a winner and all fights are pretty close
I’m building lineups that can variate from the field and taking bigger risks tonight. I will use my core fighters (Locked-In, Honorable Mention) to be a staple in my DFS lineups, and I will build around them using the available salary with the remainder of my predicted winners. Remember, to take down a GPP; you have to be different and take risks. Scared money doesn’t make money in tournaments. For any further questions, I will be available until lock in our WinDaily Discord chat. GOOD LUCK and don’t forget to come back and Win Daily!
