Al’s Deep Dive for UFC Vegas 85

DOLIDZE V IMAVOV

After a week-long layoff, we are back in Las Vegas for tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 Fight Night Card! We have some great matchups on tonight’s card with a lot of potential and some inspiring storylines added to the mix (Themba Gorimbo). There will be a total of 13 fights with some great matchups throughout the card that ends with a fight between two UFC Middleweights looking to break into the top 5 of the division. Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get right into the action!

SLATE STARTS AT 4:00 PM ET

Exposure to the main event is highly recommended. DFS production in these fights is usually high as they are five-round fights. I do not recommend branching away from the Main Event. These fighters are usually both active, and they can rack up a lot of points. There will be three top plays followed by honorable mentions. Now, let’s get ready to make some money!

Tonight, I’m here to give you my top three favorite DFS and Sports betting picks for UFC Vegas 85 Dolidze vs Imavov.

MY UFC VALUE TARGET (CASH&GPP):

MarQuel Mederos vs Brandon Quinones

Quinones put up a really good fight as a +360 underdog in his first UFC fight last year. So, against an opponent making his UFC debut, the bookies were most likely a little hesitant to put a lot of stock in Mederos until he can build more experience in the octagon. However, one thing is very clear: Mederos is an absolute savage. He is coming off a Contender Series win last October, where he came in as a +130 underdog and sent a guy into the shadow realm with a brutal knee in the first round. On top of that, Mederos is on a six-fight winning streak, with his only loss coming by split decision. Mederos loves to finish fights, and his power is incredible. Even if Quinones survives an early onslaught, he won’t be able to compete with Mederos on the feet. Quinones may then seek to bring the fight to the ground, but if Mederos’ Contender Series performances are any indication, each takedown attempt will get stuffed, or Quinones will eat a brutal knee, and the fight will be over.

MY UFC DFS PICK: MarQuel Mederos SECOND-ROUND KO (possible UNANIMOUS DECISION.)

MY UFC LOCKED-IN TARGET (CASH):

Aliaskhab Khizriev vs Makhmud Muradov

Khizriev has been super unlucky in his UFC career when it comes to fights falling through. Despite having won in dominant fashion on the Contender Series back in 2020, he has only fought once since and maintained his perfect 13-0-0 record. Throughout his time on the UFC roster, he has had five fights fall through, primarily due to his opponents cancelling the fights. Now, despite the impressive record, Khizriev has not been truly challenged, and that could pose a risk against tougher opponents later down the line in his career, but I don’t see Muradov providing any real resistance to Khizriev. Statistically, Khizriev is just a little better than Muradov, but his ability to find the submission throughout his career has been very impressive, and once the fight gets to the mat, I am not sure if Muradov will have an answer to Khizriev’s strong Daegestani wrestling game.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Aliaskhab Khizriev SECOND-ROUND SUBMISSION

MY UFC TOP SCORING TARGET (GPP):

Randy Brown vs Muslim Salikhov

Rudeboy Randy Brown is back after an impressive performance against Wellington Turman last year. He has returned to the top 15 of the Welterweight division and will be looking to keep his ranking, if not improve on it, with a win tonight against Muslim Salikhov. Brown has been very impressive lately; after a hard-fought loss to Vincente Luque, he rattled off four straight wins before coming up short against the very impressive Jack Della Maddalena for a 5-1-0 record since the Luque loss. Brown is now back in the win column and is facing off against 39-year-old Salikhov, who has lost two of his last three fights. Statistically, Brown is clearly a better fighter and with a big advantage in hand speed and a 74% takedown defence, I’d have to give a big edge in this fight to Brown. Brown also holds a significant height and reach advantage, which Brown can use to keep the distance, land strikes from outside the pocket and avoid Salikhov’s takedown attempts. Brown has a lot of clear advantages in this matchup, and if he puts it all together (which he very much should), he will be very successful on this card.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Randy Brown SECOND-ROUND KO (possible UNANIMOUS DECISION)

UFC HONORABLE MENTIONS:

(Not in order)

Roman Dolidze 5 ROUNDER

Renato Moicano

Natalia Silva (This fight will most likely end via decision, Silva by decision at -125 is not a bad option)

Gilbert Urbina

Molly McCann

Azat Maksum

Themba Gorimbo

Jeongyeong Lee (This fight could go either way; I would personally FADE this one)

Julija Stoliarenko (She will most likely win via Submission, but it could go to a decision; -135 for the Submission/Decision Double Chance on Stoliarenko is a solid bet to start off the card)

Thomas Peterson (As is usual with heavyweight fighters, it can be a bit of a mystery game sometimes and with unranked, low-experienced heavyweights, it’s usually not worth the risk. This fight is no exception. FADE, but Peterson should have an edge on the feet)

SUMMARY:

On Saturday’s fourteen-bout MMA UFC DFS slate, I am finally allowed to bet again on UFC as restrictions have now been lifted in my area. As such, I will play 2 Parlays. Remember, to take down a GPP; you have to be different and take risks. Scared money doesn’t make money in tournaments. For any further questions, I will be available until lock in our WinDaily Discord chat. GOOD LUCK, and don’t forget to come back and Win Daily!
