SONG V GUTIERREZ
The UFC has touched down in Vegas for tonight’s UFC card. There are some super-talented fighters taking the octagon tonight, and I can’t wait to break down my top plays. There will be 11 fights with some great matchups throughout the card. Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get right into the action!
SLATE STARTS AT 7:30 PM ET
Exposure to the main event is highly recommended. DFS production in these fights is usually high as they are five-round fights. I do not recommend branching away from the Main Event. These fighters are both active, and they can rack up a lot of points. There will be three top plays followed by honorable mentions. Now, let’s get ready to make some money!
Tonight I’m here to give you my top three favorite DFS and Sports betting picks for UFC Fight Night 233 Song vs Gutierrez
MY UFC VALUE TARGET (CASH&GPP):
Tim Elliott vs Sumudaerji
Tim Elliott is a scrapper; he is competitive in nearly every fight, and even in a loss, he pushes his opponents to the brink. The now 36-year-old Elliott is on the decline in his career, but he is still a very dangerous fighter. With fights against Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez, Elliott has fought some of the best of the best throughout his career. Sumudaerji is not even close to that level. These two were originally set to fight in 2021 before Sumudaerji picked up a nasty knee injury, and over two years later, we are back with the same opponents. Since the knee injury, Sumudaerji has fought one time (July 2022 against Matt Schnell) and lost. Elliott has been far more active, having four fights over that time, including a hard-fought loss to rising star Muhammad Mokaev where Elliott even won the first round. I think all the time away from the octagon will really affect Sumudaerji here, and with Elliott’s ability to keep the pressure high and always compete, I see Elliott taking this close matchup.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Tim Elliott UNANIMOUS DECISION.
MY UFC LOCKED-IN TARGET (CASH):
Khalil Rountree Jr. vs Anthony Smith
Rountree has been electric as of late. He has now won his last four fights and has picked up wins against the likes of Dustin Jacoby and Chris Daukaus. This recent string of success has catapulted him into the top 15 of the light heavyweight division and has secured him his first top 10 opponent. This will be his test to see if he is able to climb further up the ladder in the light heavyweight division. Smith has dropped two of his last three fights (his only win came via Split Decision), and given his age, his reign in the top 10 of the division may be coming to a close. Smith has had a great career, which has seen him fight for the title, fight a total of three former champions (while beating one), and has spanned over 19 UFC fights since 2016. He still has a lot of fight left in him; I just don’t see it being at the top of the division. I am expecting Rountree to set the pace early and limit Smith’s mobility with his kicks. Ultimately leading to a KO early on in this fight.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Khalil Roundtree Jr. SECOND-ROUND KO (possible FIRST-ROUND KO).
MY UFC TOP SCORING TARGET (GPP):
Hyunsung Park vs Shannon Ross
This is one of those fights where I think there is simply a mismatch. Park is making his second UFC appearance following a third-round submission earlier this year and a successful two-fight stint on Road to the UFC back in 2022, where he secured two first-round finishes, one via KO and the other via Submission. Park is a very talented fighter in multiple facets of the sport, whereas his opponent, Shannon Ross, is just not. Ross has spent most of his professional career fighting against cans in Australia and was able to amass a decent enough record to secure a spot on the Contender Series, where he proceeded to get knocked out in the second round. Yet, he still managed to find a spot on the UFC roster and over his first two UFC fights, he has been knocked out in the first round… twice. The first time, he was knocked out in 59 seconds; the second time, he was knocked out in 17 seconds. I doubt he’s going to last too much longer in this matchup against the undefeated Park.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Hyunsung Park FIRST-ROUND KO (possible SECOND-ROUND SUBMISSION)
UFC HONORABLE MENTIONS:
(Not in order)
Song Yadong 5 ROUNDER
Nasrat Haqparast (This is a much closer fight than the odds would suggest; although I fall on the Haqparast side of this fight, I really like Mullarkey as an underdog, especially for Daily Fantasy)
Jun Yong Park (I’m not high on either fighter in this matchup, but Muniz has been on a slide lately, so I’d avoid this fight overall but if you have to pick one, go with Park.)
Kevin Jousset (If you can find good value on Jousset, I would add him to your ticket or lineup, but realistically, this is another fight I’m planning on staying away from)
Melquizael Costa (This fight was supposed to take place last week but has been postponed to this card. I think Costa is in a solid spot here)
Luana Santos FADE
Tatsuro Taira (Take him to win by Submission)
Talita Alencar FADE
SUMMARY:
On Saturday’s fourteen-bout MMA UFC DFS slate, I am finally allowed to bet again on UFC as restrictions have now been lifted in my area. As such, I will play 2 Parlays. Remember, to take down a GPP; you have to be different and take risks. Scared money doesn’t make money in tournaments. For any further questions, I will be available until lock in our WinDaily Discord chat. GOOD LUCK, and don’t forget to come back and Win Daily!
