Al’s Deep Dive for UFC Fight Night 226

GANE V SPIVAK

We got another early card this weekend as tonight, UFC action is set to take place in Paris, France, at the Accor Arena! Many of the top French talents in the UFC are taking part in today’s card, and there are a lot of great fights to look at here. Today’s fights will kick off at 12:30 PM ET!! We have a lot of interesting debuts taking place, as well as many rising stars, looking to make a name for themselves or solidify their spot in the top 5 of their respective division. Many of these fights have a lot of potential, and I cannot wait for this card! Read more below to find out my takes on tonight’s matchups! Tonight, there will be 11 fights ending with two top 10 heavyweights looking to make a push for the title. Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get right into the action!

SLATE STARTS AT 12:30 AM ET

Exposure to the main event is recommended. DFS production in these fights is usually high as they are five-round fights. I do not recommend branching away from the Main Event, as these fighters are both active and can rack up a lot of points. There will be three top plays followed by honorable mentions. Now let’s get ready to make some money!

Tonight I’m here to give you my top three favorite DFS and Sports betting picks for UFC Fight Night 226 Gane vs Spivak.

MY UFC VALUE TARGET (CASH&GPP):

Volkan Oezdemir vs Bogdan Guskov

Bogdan Guskov is making his UFC debut against a seasoned Light Heavyweight veteran and former title challenger, Volkan Oezdemir, who has been competing in the UFC since 2017. Unfortunately for Oezdemir, he now looks to be on the tail end of his career. The past few fights have not been kind to Oezdemir as he has struggled to find any consistency going back to his title fight loss to Daniel Cormier. Since that fight, he has gone 3-5, and over his last four fights, he has gone 1-3. Guskov, on the other hand, has had a stellar run leading up to his UFC debut with four straight first-round KOs. I will highlight the difference in competition that both these fighters have been facing, with Oezdemir squaring off against top 10 light heavyweights, while Guskov has competed against some opponents with some suspect records. Still, there is no doubt that Oezdemir no longer possesses the skill and agility he once did, especially after a brutal knockout he sustained against Prochazka and a damaging knockdown against Ankalaev. The bottom line is that I have seen a lot of holes in Oezdemir game despite some promising sequences early on in fights, and I think Guskov will be able to find an opening through Oezdemir mediocre defence as the fight goes on.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Bogdan Guskov SECOND ROUND KO.

MY UFC LOCKED-IN TARGET (CASH):

Zarah Fairn vs. Jacqueline Cavalcanti

We’ll be kicking off today’s card with a bit of a lopsided women’s featherweight matchup. 26-year-old Jacqueline Cavalcanti is making her UFC debut against 39-year-old Zarah Fairn. Fairn’s UFC career has been nothing short of a joke. She is 0-3 in her UFC career, has withdrawn from three fights in her career (including one for a weight miss, which almost happened again on this card) and has not won an MMA fight since 2017. This fight definitely seems like it will be Fairn’s last, and with the speed and power difference on display here, I can see Cavalcanti putting this fight away, but I can also see her dish out a lot of punishment over 15 minutes. Either way, this should be a good fight for DFS and for your parlays.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Jacqueline Cavalcanti SECOND-ROUND KO (possible UNANIMOUS DECISION).

MY UFC TOP SCORING TARGET (GPP):

Morgan Charriere vs. Manolo Zecchini

Here, we have two featherweight prospects who are making their UFC debuts against each other in what might turn out to be a lopsided fight. Former Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion Charriere (lost the belt to a close split decision) has had 28 fights in his career compared to Zecchini’s 14, and Charriere has been in multiple 5-round fights, including one that went the distance, so we know he will come into this fight with a strong gas tank. On the other side of this fight, Manolo Zecchini, who has put together so good performances as of late, against some vastly weaker competition coming out of the Italian Venator Fighting Championship. His most impressive win came against a 7-3 opponent, and throughout his career, he has faced a lot of opponents with some questionable records (for example, fighting a 2-1 fighter when he had a record of 8-2 or fighting a 3-1 fighter when he had a record of 7-2). It’s clear that Charriere is a more experienced fighter, but it is also important to mention that I do like Charriere’s fighting style a lot. He can mix up his combinations with speed and accuracy, and he is also able to quickly change levels to throw his opponents off. Zecchini has not faced someone like Charriere, and I know that Charriere’s experience will make the difference here. Charriere has gotten a few decision wins in his career, so I wouldn’t be shocked if this fight ended up going to the cards, but regardless, this will be a dominant performance out of the former Cage Warriors champ!

MY UFC DFS PICK: Morgan Charriere SECOND-ROUND KO (possible UNANIMOUS DECISION)

UFC HONORABLE MENTIONS:

(Not in order)

Ciryl Gane (5 ROUNDER)

Manon Fiorot

Joselyne Edwards (FADE)

Caolan Loughran

William Gomis (probably going to end up being a Decision Win for Gomis)

Benoit Saint-Denis

Ange Loosa

Farid Basharat
