Core Four Tuesday 3/30
The NBA schedule continues to churn forward but there are only four games tonight, which means I wouldn’t touch cash games. That means the Core Four format returns tonight and we’ll discuss which four players I’m targeting as the foundation of my lineups. It’s going to be an interesting slate since there’s not a lot of options over $10,000 so let’s dive into the Core Four Tuesday 3/30 and see who we like!
Core Four Tuesday 3/30
Core Four Tuesday 3/30 – Member One
Nikola Jokic ($10,500 DK/$11,300 FD) – Hello Big Honey! When we have a condensed slate, it’s basically down to Joker or Russell Westbrook’s as the odds-on favorite to score the most fantasy points tonight. With Philly still missing Joel Embiid, the matchup down low takes on a totally different dynamic. Dwight Howard isn’t what he once was defensively and Jokic will have no trouble doing whatever he likes here.
Another component is if Ben Simmons covers Jamal Murray for some of the game, I can see Jokic being more aggressive with his scoring. He has that in his bag of tricks, not that he needs it. Big Honey has the MVP in front of him and just put up 48 DK on 12 shots in 28 minutes last game. With new teammate Aaron Gordon likely seeing more minutes, the offense just gets more dynamic tonight with Joker’s 29.4% usage and 1.61 leading the way.

Bradley Beal ($8,900 DK/$8,800 FD) – I know that Beal has struggled a bit since returning from the All-Star Break. It’s been very feast or famine but that’s kind of what we need in GPP and this spot sets up for a big game. First off, I wouldn’t be overly shocked if Russell Westbrook sat. He has been playing back-to-back sets but the playoff hopes for the Wizards are fading fast. They sit three games behind the 10 spot just for a play-in game. Regardless of Westbrook’s status, Beal is under $9,000.
Both Washington and Charlotte sit inside the top 12 in pace and both are below average in defensive rating. Beal has a true shooting rate just a hair under 60% on the year, so his poor shooting as of late is not indicative of what he’s capable of. Beal also continues to lead the NBA in scoring at 31.3 points per game and is the only player over 30 in the association this year. When you add that to a usage rate of 34.4% and a potential for a shootout, it’s not hard to see why we want to take a chance with Beal tonight.
Core Four Tuesday 3/30 – Member Three
Malik Monk ($4,900 DK) – We’re not leaving this game the rest of the way and Monk is a perfect player to take for GPP’s. When his shot is falling, his ceiling is nearly 8-10x what his current price point is. He’s listed as probable after missing one game with a foot injury and gets one of the better matchups he can in the Wizards. Not only is the pace excellent, but Monk sports about a 25% frequency with spot-up shooting on the season. The Wizards allow the third-most points per possession to spot-up shooters, right in the wheelhouse for Monk. We want as many pieces as we can get in my eyes and Monk has over a 27% usage rate when LaMelo Ball is off the court. I suspect he’ll be popular even in GPP settings.
On FD, I’ll just use Rui Hachimura to continue my exposure to this game. Monk is all the way up at $6,500 on FD and that’s a lot to ask. Hachimura is a player we talk about all the time since he plays so many minutes. If Westy were to sit, he becomes the number two option in the option behind Beal, and the price on FD where we need two SF just makes too much sense.

Terance Mann ($4,700 DK/$4,700 FD) – The Clippers played the Bucks last night and I would be fairly surprised if Kawhi Leonard doesn’t sit. Paul George sat last night and it makes too much sense. The Orlando team they face is in shambles right now after trading much of their team. For their part, the Clippers traded away Lou Williams and Mann has seen much more consistent minutes over the past handful of games. Even if you leave PG and Kawhi on the floor, Mann rocks a 0.89 FPPM with an 18.5% usage rate. The Clippers guard also racked up over 30 minutes last night. He’ll carry more of the offensive load if the Clippers are missing one of their star players in this game and we can take advantage as a small late-night hammer.
