2024 NFL Preview: AFC West Offense

In his latest look at what to expect for the 2024 NFL season, Win Daily resident fantasy expert StixPicks breaks down the offensive prospects for the AFC West.

Denver Broncos 2023 Record 8-9

Head Coach: Sean Payton (NO HC)
OC: Joe Lombardi (LAC OC)
O-Line Grade: B

2023 Offensive Stats:

• P. Att/g: 30.2
• R. Att/g: 26.5
• Plays/g: 56.7
• TM SEC/play: 29.6

Notes:
No changes in coaching. Sketchy QB situation again, bad defense. Can’t imagine they want to get in shootouts with their QB play, but they may not have a choice? Payton/Lombo situation is ALWAYS RB focused (especially in the pass game). I don’t believe Lombardi will get to bring the tempo up to where he used to be… Payton holds the reigns back a bit. I do expect them to pass a good bit more than 2023 averages.

Key “Skill” Fantasy Assets:

• Courtland Sutton
• Javonte/Estime RB handcuff duo. Estime can be a star in a Payton/Lombo system, but who knows how many other RBs we’ll see on a daily basis (Jaleel, etc.)
• Troy Franklin upside

Los Angeles Chargers 2023 Record 5-12

Head Coach: Jim Harbaugh (replaces Brandon Staley)
OC: Greg Roman (replaces Kellen Moore)
O-Line Grade: B

2023 Offensive Stats:

• P. Att/g: 37.2
• R. Att/g: 25.4
• Plays/g: 62.6
• TM SEC/play: 26.7

Notes:
Much slower pace of play coming to LAC and not a lot of passing. Do we really want to play RB carousel of Gus or JK Dobbins? Maybe. Harbaugh did make frank gore a fantasy superstar, Roman clearly likes Gus and JKD. Vidal has some upside here as well. WRs are gross. We know the TE situation is usually a nice one for these two coaches.

Key “Skill” Fantasy Assets:
Meh. Who the hell knows if this system is something you want to invest in. I do want a piece of the running game and like the late upside in Vidal if you want to handcuff Gus.

Kansas City Chiefs 2023 Record 11-6

Head Coach: Andy Reid
OC: Matt Nagy
O-Line Grade: A

2023 Offensive Stats:

• P. Att/g: 37.3
• R. Att/g: 25.6
• Plays/g: 62.9
• TM SEC/play: 27.7

Notes:
No notable changes on the coaching staff. Great offensive line. Patrick Mahomes. Weapons galore. I will want a piece of this offense on my team, but the WR position may be a constant headache for fantasy.

Key “Skill” Fantasy Assets:

• Travis Kelce
• Isaiah Pacheco
• Rashee Rice (doubt there’s a suspension this year)
• Xavier Worthy (Hollywood hurt for a while)

Las Vegas Raiders 2023 Record 8-9

Head Coach: Antonio Pierce
OC: Luke Getsy (from Bears)
O-Line Grade: B-

2023 Offensive Stats:

• P. Att/g: 32.8
• R. Att/g: 24.3
• Plays/g: 57.1
• TM SEC/play: 28.9

Notes:
Likely a run-heavy offense with both Pierce and Getsy. Good stuff for Zamir and Davante is going to be Davante. I don’t really love investing in any other options unless it’s late and you need the depth.
