ALLEN V CURTIS 2
We are almost there! This is the last fight night card ahead of UFC 300! The card will feature 12 fights, with some interesting matchups throughout, that will end with a middleweight bout between two men who are looking to spring into the title conversation. Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get right into the action!
SLATE STARTS AT 3:00 PM ET
Exposure to the main event is highly recommended. DFS production in these fights is usually high as they are five-round fights. I do not recommend branching away from the Main Event. These fighters are usually both active, and they can rack up a lot of points. There will be four top plays followed by best bets. Now, let’s get ready to make some money!
Tonight, I’m here to give you my top four favorite DFS and Sports betting picks for UFC Vegas 90 Allen vs Curtis 2.
MY UFC VALUE TARGET (CASH & GPP):
Trevor Peek v Charlie Campbell
Both of these guys are HEAVY hitters; combined, they have 12 KO wins out of their combined 17 fights. On one hand, this fight seems destined to avoid the judges; however, at -450, all the value is for this fight to go to a judge’s decision.
Peek had a tricky start in his UFC debut, coming up against Chepe Mariscal at even odds. He was controlled on the ground for a big portion of that fight and ultimately lost. However, against another known grappler in Rani Yahya, Peek was the one taking him down with four takedowns and over five minutes of control time.
Campbell lost in the Contender Series and made his UFC debut after fighting in the CFFC finishing his first UFC fight by first round KO.
The big difference here for me is experience. Campbell has fought much weaker competition, losing to Chris Duncan on the Contender Series as a -160 favorite and securing his first UFC win as a -500 favorite. He simply has not fought anyone at the level of Trevor Peek, or with Peek’s punching power and speed. I can see Peek causing some real problems for Campbell early on, and I can also realistically see this one hitting the judge’s table. So, if you’re playing Peek, take him on the Double Chance by KO or Decision.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Trevor Peek SECOND ROUND KO (Possible UNANIMOUS DECISION)
MY UFC LOCKED-IN TARGET (CASH):
Ignacio Bahamondes vs Christos Giagos
The Golden Boy Bahamondes is a big favorite in this matchup and for very good reason too. Bahamondes has won three of his last four fights (One by KO, one by Submission and one by Decision) while Giagos has lost three of his last four fights. Despite the fact that Giagos has faced some tough competition in his losses, he is not losing in close or competitive fights. He is getting finished in the first or second round, after getting outmatched (except in the Zellhuber fight where Giagos won the first round and got submitted in the second round).
Overall, Bahamondes is a much more technical fighter with a significant height and reach advantage. The biggest thing going for Bahamondes is his versatility. He can fight anywhere, he is super well rounded and Giagos is going to have a lot of trouble as Bahamondes is better than him in every facet of the fight game.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Ignacio Bahamondes by FIRST-ROUND KO (possible UNANIMOUS DECISION)
MY UFC TOP SCORING TARGET (GPP):
Valter Walker vs Lukasz Brzeski
I’m actually surprised that they made this matchup. Walker is a Brazilian fighter, fighting out of Moscow Russia, who is making his UFC debut with an 11-0-0 record. His opponent Lukasz Brazeki had his Contender Series win overturned due to a bad drug test and proceeded to lose his first and only three UFC fights to not so impressive compeition. Now, it looks like the UFC are just about ready to give Brzeski his walking papers as they matched him up with a very scary prospect in Valter Walker.
Walker has some vicisous power winning three of his last four fights by GnP with his last opponent reitirng from the fight between rounds. Don’t get me wrong, once Walker gets up to the higher level of competition in the heavyweight division, he will be challenged. However, this fight is a dream matchup for Walker’s UFC debut and is most likely more indicative of the UFC trying to push Brzeski out after a very unimpressive stint with an 0-3 record and a no contest in his Dana White Contender Series fight.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Valter Walker FIRST-ROUND KO (possible SECOND-ROUND KO)
MY MAIN EVENT PREDICTION (CASH & GPP):
Brendan Allen vs Chris Curtis 2
In their first contest, Allen got humbled. He was a more than -300 favorite (with Curtis coming in on short notice) and ate some nasty knees from Curtis that put his lights out. That fight started the Curtis hype train as he rattled off a win against Rodolfo Viera, then soon after, another win against Joaquin Buckley. Overall through, Curtis has been a little up an down with a 3-2-0 record since the Allen fight. Brendan Allen on the other hand, has not lost since. He’s gone 6-0-0 with 5 of those wins coming by Rear Naked Choke. I think Allen is ready to correct this blemish on his record and we are getting him at excellent odds given the major upset in the first fight.
Allen will have a major advantage in the grappling department and will be far more cautious in avoiding the power shots from Curtis. I don’t believe Curtis will be able to handle the adjustments that have been made by Allen since their first matchup. I’m taking Allen on this one.
MY UFC DFS PICK: Brendan Allen UNANIMOUS DECISION (possible SECOND-ROUND SUBMISSION)
SUMMARY:
On Saturday’s fourteen-bout MMA UFC DFS slate, I am finally allowed to bet again on UFC as restrictions have now been lifted in my area. As such, I will play the Parlay of the Day. Remember, to take down a GPP; you have to be different and take risks. Scared money doesn’t make money in tournaments. For any further questions, I will be available until lock in our WinDaily Discord chat. GOOD LUCK, and don’t forget to come back and Win Daily!
