Philadelphia Flyers (+210) at Carolina Hurricanes (-258) – 6 Projected Goal Total
Seattle Kraken (+154) at Edmonton Oilers (-185) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Islanders (+136) at Vancouver Canucks (-162) – 6 Projected Goal Total
11/15 NHL Favorite Popular Line
Colorado One – “Nathan MacKinnon ($9,800), Mikko Rantanen ($8,600), Valeri Nichushkin ($4,700)”
I’m not sure I will play them myself as I hate eating chalk on small slates. However, it is likely Colorado One will be the most popular line on the slate, and for good reason. The Avalanche are huge -298 money line favorites hosting the lowly Anaheim Ducks in a projected 6.5 total matchup. They are the primary source of Colorado’s production right now. Nathan MacKinnon comes in averaging 18.2 DraftKings points per game, Mikko Rantanen is averaging 17.9 and Valeri Nichushkin is averaging 8.1, mainly from feeding off of his linemates. This line is a bit cost prohibitive but you can run a two-man here and be creative. You will also likely have to pair them with a lesser line salary-wise. That said, it won’t be much of a surprise to see that they are very popular tonight.
11/15 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line
New York Islanders Two – “Brock Nelson ($5,800), Kyle Palmieri ($4,600), Pierre Engvall ($2,800)”
Tonight is a slate chock full of big favorites. However, to fit in some studs we have to save salary somewhere. Let’s take a hard stance on one of these underdogs and roll with the Islander’s second line. Am I a bit of a homer, perhaps? Then again, the Islanders have hit hard times and no one will want to play them as big road underdogs tonight.
I towed around with a Seattle line given that we know Edmonton can absolutely blow up on any given night, even when heavy favorites. However, this line has been putting up solid metrics. They are quietly sixth among all NHL lines in terms of SATF over their last ten games. Both Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri feature on the Islander’s top power-play unit and are the priority if only using two skaters from this line. Given the six total, I expect Canuck’s goalie Thatcher Demko to be popular so they make for a terrific leverage play in tournaments. The savings that they bring salary-wise also puts Colorado One in play for your lineups.
Defensemen and Goalies
Defensemen
Justin Schulz – Seattle -$3,000 – Schultz is cheap and carries some upside as he sees some time on the second power-play unit for the Kraken. As briefly noted above, Edmonton can be hit or miss and if Seattle finds them on a poor night, there may be an apple or two for Mr. Schultz.
Devon Toews – Colorado – $3,600 – Another cheap defenseman who has some offensive prowess. The rule of thumb is to never spend up on defense and he fits the part. Devon Toews also shares even-strength correlation with Colorado One and sees time on the second power-play unit.
Goalie
Semyon Varlamov – New York Islanders – $7,300 – There are no goalies worth paying up for on this slate. The Islanders have been rotating their two goalies and it should be Semyon Varlamov’s turn to start. He has been red hot this season with a 2.04 GAA and .940 SV%. Over his last two starts, he has slowed his roll but Varlamov is cheap at $7,300 and helps us continue to roll out leverage on a slate where Thatcher Demko will be massive chalk.
11/15 NHL Best Bet
Seattle Kraken (+154) – DraftKings – At these odds, if looking to place a bet “this isn’t the best slate for it FWIW”, it makes sense to take a small shot on Seattle tonight.
