There are just four games the entire day on Thursday, so I’ll highlight a few plays I like for the late slate. The late (3-game) slate starts at 7:05 PM ET, and options are limited! Let’s find some paths to making some cash!
MLB DFS Aces
Spencer Strider vs Los Angeles Dodgers
The matchup isn’t ideal, but the small slate will dictate you needing the top scoring pitcher regardless. Strider is prone to blowing up at times, but he has a ridiculous 236 strikeouts in just 153.1 innings of work. He has also allowed 1 ER or less in four of his last five starts.
In what will likely be a playoff preview, Strider will face the Dodgers once again. Last time he faced them on May 23rd, he was electric. His line was 6 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 11 K. He did allow some damage, but 10+ K upside is almost non-existent on this slate.
Fire him up, especially on 2-pitcher sites, and don’t look back.
Braxton Garrett vs Washington Nationals
I’m actually not a huge fan of targeting the Nationals, but this is an exception on a short slate. They make contact and don’t strike out much, but Garrett has the tools to post a solid line in this one. His last start actually came against this same team, and he had solid results.
6 IP, 7b H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K. Don’t expect a lot of punch outs here, but he should be in line for a quality start regardless. His previous turn against the Nats saw him go for 6 solid innings, allowing just 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 8 K.
He seems like the obvious option for SP2.
MLB DFS Stacks
Atlanta Braves vs Lance Lynn
Yes, Lance Lynn has found the fountain of youth with the Dodgers. That said, he finally came back down to earth last time out against the Red Sox. He served up 10 hits in 6 innings with 4 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 1 BB and just ONE strikeout. That makes just four punch outs in his last 13 innings of work over his last two.
Facing the best offense in MLB, he will have a rough time on Thursday night. Marcell Ozuna is hotter than the sun. Michael Harris is a down-order option. Matt Olson has had a power outage but always has big upside. Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. are always in play. I can list the entire lineup.
Over his career, Lynn has struggled with LHB. I will prioritize those with Ozuna as a priority as well against a pitcher who has allowed…wait for it…THIRTY-FOUR home runs this season in 150.2 innings of work.
Miami Marlins vs Joan Adon
Adon dominated this lineup last time out, allowing just 3 H across 6 innings of scoreless work without a walk and striking out three. The Marlins pack a punch, and I’m backing them to get to Adon in this one. Jake Burger, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Josh Bell, and Bryan De La Cruz top the list here. Luis Arraez is always an option, albeit one without much power upside.
I’m betting on a bounce back performance here.
