The Pitching Slate for Wednesday is special on May 8th. There are a lot of pitchers to consider, and all of them have an advantage/disadvantage. I will break down all the pitchers I am considering on the main slate. All prices are FanDuel.
CHRIS SALE ($11,000) @ BALTIMORE
This season has not been special for Sale, who sits with an ERA at 5.25. However a meeting with the Orioles, maybe the worst team in the American League, is the type of matchup is why you consider Sale in the first place. The Red Sox should back up their ace against Baltimore with some run support, so expect Sale to turn the corner in this matchup.
CLAYTON KERSHAW ($10,200) vs. ATLANTA
Kershaw is showing some Cy Young potential in that arm we all said was done. The matchup against the Braves is not the best, but it is worth paying for if you want a safe stud at home. Kershaw has looked almost unhittable as of late, and the Braves are not hitting either.
BRAD PEACOCK ($7,600) vs. KANSAS CITY
If you want the HUGE upside play, look no further. Peacock has been inconsistent at times very often, this is a matchup where he can prevail. The Royals do not have a lot of scary bats in that lineup, Peacock knows how to strike out hitters. While the Royals are playing well in this series, look for Peacock to get the Astros on track.
SONNY GRAY ($7400) @ OAKLAND
50 Shades of Sonny Gray should be able to find his strikeout pitch against his old team in his old ballpark. The Athletics bats are not that hot, Khris Davis has not hit a HR in a lifetime. Gray is a great sleeper and the guy I will be rolling with at the end of the day because I can save money and get that Red Sox stack with him.
KYLE GIBSON ($7300) @ TORONTO
Gibson has been plagued by bad innings all season. The Blue Jays do have the bats to take advantage of a mistake, but so far the Blue Jays have not been hitting at all to start the week. Gibson is a bit risky, but if you feeling gutsy, make the move.
MONKEY KNIFE FIGHT – MAY 8th
I am taking the OVER on Sonny Gray and his 4.5 Ks. We have seen Gray deliver on the potential to hit 8 Ks in a game a few times this season. This matchup is definitely in favor of Gray.
