All 30 teams are in action today, making for plenty of options to choose from when constructing your DFS lineups. To narrow your focus, here are the top hitting options for May 10th.
Catcher – Robinson Chirinos vs. Lance Lynn
FanDuel: $3,300 DraftKings:$4,100
Robinson Chirinos continues to thrive against right-handed pitching this season. He has a .269 ISO and a .378 wOBA against them. He should continue to produce against righties tonight against the Rangers’ Lance Lynn. The Texas starter has a 5.27xFIP against righty bats.
First Base – Josh Bellvs. Adam Wainwright
FanDuel: $4,100 DraftKings:$5,000
Josh Bell has terrorized the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright throughout his career. He is 5-for-11 with two extra base hits and five RBIs against the St. Louis starter. Look for Bell to continue his outright attack on Wainwright in this one. Wainwright is allowing a .428 wOBA to left-handed bats, while Bell is crushing righties. The Pirates’ slugger has a 1.114 OPS and a .414 ISO against them in 2019.
Second Base – JonathanVillar vs. Trevor Cahill
FanDuel: $3,500 DraftKings:$4,400
The Angels’ Trevor Cahill is a pitcher you want to attackwith left-handed bats. He owns a 7.30 xFIP, while allowing 3.97 HR/9 and a47.9% hard contact rate to lefty sticks. So, with that in mind, Villar is a niceDFS option. The Orioles’ infielder has a .359 wOBA and a 126 wRC+ againstright-handed pitching in 2019.
Third Base – NolanArenado vs. Eric Lauer
FanDuel: $4,800 DraftKings:$5,700
Playing Nolan Arenado in Coors against a left-handed, flyball pitcher that allows hard contact is about as good as it gets for DFS purposes. The Padres’ Eric Lauer is that type of pitcher. The southpaw owns a 40% flyball rate and is allowing a 42.9% hard contact rate. That should play well to Arenado’s strengths, as he has a .447 ISO against lefties this season.
Shortstop – Javier Baez vs. Gio Gonzalez
FanDuel: $4,500
Gio Gonzalez has a very small sample size in 2019 with just 10.1 innings pitched. But looking at his numbers from last season shows the Brewers’ southpaw struggled with righties. He owned a 4.75 xFIP versus right-handed bats in 2018. Those struggles, combined with Javier Baez’s numbers against lefties, makes the Cubs’ slugger an excellent DFS play on Friday. Baez has a .750 ISO and a .653 wOBA versus lefties this season.
Outfield – Mike Troutvs. Dan Straily
FanDuel: $4,600 DraftKings:$5,700
Obviously, Mike Trout is a great DFS play anytime you can afford to get him in your lineup. But he is an especially great play today. The Orioles’ Dan Straily is not a good pitcher. He also owns a 6.43 SIERA and a 7.20 xFIP. The Baltimore starter is also allowing a 50% flyball rate and 3.13 HR/9. All of those factors play into Trout’s hands today. The outfielder has a 1.105 OPS and a .452 wOBA versus right-handed pitching in 2019. And to make the situation even better, Trout has owned Straily in the past. The best player in baseball is 9-for-20 with three extra base hits in his career against Straily.
Outfield – MookieBetts vs. Erik Swanson
FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings:$5,100
The Mariners’ Erik Swanson has struggled with righties in 2019. He is allowing a .392 wOBA and 3.72 HR/9 to right-handed bats. Betts has thrived in righty on righty match ups. He has a .446 wOBA and a 180 wRC+ in such at bats. But what should really make you want to take advantage of this matchup is the fact that Swanson has thrown a fastball on 67% of his pitches. Betts has a .391 batting average as well as a .391 ISO against that pitch this season.
Outfield – NelsonCruz vs. Tyson Ross
FanDuel: $3,900 DraftKings:$5,100
The Tigers’ Tyson Ross has had a difficult time with right-handed bats this season. He has a 5.46 xFIP and a .420 wOBA allowed to righties in 2019. Look for Nelson Cruz to take advantage of Ross and commit some righty-on-righty crime. The Twins’ slugger has punished righties this season. He has a .253 ISO against them. Making this matchup even more juicy is that Ross is a groundball pitcher with a 53.5% groundball rate. Cruz has a .350/.458/.650 slash line against groundball pitchers in 2019.
