Early;
Chris Bassitt @ Detroit Tigers – $8,600 DraftKings, $10,000 FanDuel
Chris Bassitt has surprisingly been pretty solid this season. He has at least six strikeouts in each of his four starts and also had completed five innings in all of them. Averaging 23.1 fantasy points on the season, he is a target for me. The Tigers strike out at a tremendous rate and Bassitt has shown his strikeout ability so far this season. The pitcher that holds the best matchup on the board definitely gets my attention.
Spencer Turnbull vs. Oakland Athletics – $8,000 DraftKings, $8,300 FanDuel
At home this season Turnbull holds a 2.35 ERA with a 10.17 K/9. I’m very interested here as the Athletics haven’t been too hot lately. There are strikeouts in this lineup and Turnbull definitely has shown this season he is more than capable finding them. Him being especially tough against right handed bats (.179 average against) even gives me more reason to scoop him up. I’m not scared of the Athletics, I’m a big fan of Turnbull.
Main;
Luis Castillo vs. Chicago Cubs – $10,600 DraftKings, $10,300 FanDuel
On a short five game main slate I think he is the best pitcher. Holding a 1.65 ERA on this season at home, Castillo is showing elite stuff. The Cubs have been one of the hotter teams in baseball other the last couple weeks, but I’m not worried about them lighting up the scoreboard. Castillo has always shown the effects of feeling safe in his home park, as he performs way better at home. His elite stuff against right handed bats should help neutralize the two best hitters in the Cubs lineup in Kris Bryant and Javier Baez. I’m all in on Castillo here.
Julio Teheran vs. St. Louis Cardinals – $8,000 DraftKings, $8,100 FanDuel
This is kind of gross, but so is this pitching slate. Julio Teheran is someone who struggles a ton against lefties, but he’s pretty solid against righties. At home so far this season he holds a solid 3.00 ERA and a .167 average against righties. This Cardinals lineup is flooded with righties and only two traditional lefties. Honestly I don’t even mind pairing Teheran with Matt Carpenter. This is a slate where we have to get uncomfortable with our SP2. Teheran should end with around 15-18 fantasy points and I’m okay with that.
Honorable Mention;
(Main) Marcus Stroman @ Chicago White Sox – $7,700 DraftKings, $7,400 FanDuel
