Five games for the Sunday Night NBA DFS Positional Breakdown to pursue, including a handful of teams that will doing the back-to-back thing. Let’s go.
IMPORTANT: NBA DFS is completely different than any other sport. Players get ruled out five minutes before games and you HAVE TO BE READY to pivot. I will update this article as close to lineup lock as possible with any big news, but play it safe and stay on top of the news yourself.
I refer to FanDuel pricing today.
12/29 NBA DFS Point Guard
- Luka Doncic ($10,600) Anchor: The 70.9 FDP he dropped on the Warriors on Saturday night was his fourth game of least 70 FDP since November 8. Even on a back-to-back, Doncic should deliver a positive return on investment in a nationally-televised clash at the Lakers.
- Kyle Lowry ($8000): He’s averaging nearly 25 points per game since Pascal Siakam was sidelined. Lowry has produced more than 40 FDP in eight of his 13 games since coming off IR.
- Terry Rozier ($6500): Juicy matchup against a Grizzlies defense ranked 27th in scoring defense and 25th in assists allowed per game.
- Ja Morant ($6500): Turnabout is fair play, as Morant faces a Hornets defense that allows the most assists per game and ranks 26th in defensive rating.
Under the Radar: Take a gander at Rockets reserve Chris Clemons ($3800), who will see minutes in place of Russell Westbrook (load management). Clemons gets a Pelicans defense ranked 25th in Fantasy points allowed to opposing PGs and put up 31.8 FP in 16 minutes against the Pistons on December 14.
12/29 NBA DFS Shooting Guard
- James Harden ($11,500) Anchor: He’s been below 50 FDP just twice in his last 20 games and comes off a 74 FDP outing against the Nets on Saturday. The Pelicans D is even worse, and with Russell Westbrook out, Harden’s usage rate is going off the charts versus a New Orleans team ranked 25th in FP allowed to opposing PGs.
- Jrue Holiday ($8700): Harden’s defense is the gift that keeps on giving, as the Rockets are 29th in FP allowed per game to opposing SGs. There’s at least one lineup that I’ll have with both Harden and Holiday lighting up each other.
- Devonte’ Graham ($7600): He’s the best pivot if you don’t want in on Harden or Holiday. This game quietly sits on a lot of hidden NBA DFS gold tonight.
- Gary Harris ($4900): Harris has been a top 40 Fantasy player for much of this month. There’s value sitting here in a matchup against a Kings team that’s 21st in FP allowed per game to opposing SGs.
12/29 NBA DFS Small Forward
- LeBron James ($10,000) Anchor: James has ripped off 15 straight games of at least seven assists, hitting double digits 10 times. I’d be on him making 16 straight and 11 with double digit dimes in what should be a high-scoring affair against the Mavs.
- Brandon Ingram ($9000): To me, it’s a coin toss with Ingram and James, especially considering Ingram faces a Rockets defense that is 25th in Fantasy points allowed per game to opposing SFs. He’s had three straight games of better than 40 FDP, and my hunch tells me he’s got 50-plus in him tonight.
- Miles Bridges ($4900): Again, the Hornets-Grizz matchup has hidden DFS potential. Bridges is among them.
- Will Barton ($6100): Nuggets are scoring more of late, with Barton helping fuel the rise.
12/29 NBA DFS Power Forward
- Anthony Davis ($10,600) Anchor: There’s an “either/or” feel with Davis and James. One of my lineups will have LBJ, with Davis anchoring at least one.
- Derrick Favors ($6400): Strong value play against the Rockets, who are 23rd in Fantasy points per game allowed to opposing PFs.
- Richaun Holmes ($6900): No Marvin Bagley tonight. Holmes flopped on Saturday, but sits atop my list for best bounce back potential.
- Kristaps Porzingis ($9000): I don’t think he’ll be a load management victim, but the Mavs could consider doing so since he’ll be on a back-to-back.
12/29 NBA DFS Center
- Nikola Jokic ($9500): Averaging 51.4 FDP in his last three games. Not quite an anchor, but certainly belongs in your lineups.
- Steven Adams ($6400): Nine games of at least 10 boards this month while also picking up his scoring.
- Jonas Valanciunas ($6600): Has scored at least 18 points in four of his last six. Rebounds will come against the Hornets and their 26th-ranked defense.
- Bismack Biyombo ($4800): There’s risk, but Biyombo has three double-doubles in his last six games.
