Insight Sheet: BMW Championship

The Insight Sheet gets you ready before lock with all of your DFS PGA needs. This week at the BMW Championship, you’ll find the model’s Top 50, Vegas odds, Data Golf World Ranks, key stats and my personal player pool. Player picks and the model use DraftKings pricing. It should be noted, golfers are picked as an overall play and should be used for all DFS sites.

Players ranked 1 – 25
Players ranked 26 – 50

Golfers priced $10,000 and $12,000

Justin Rose $10,200 – Rose is number three in my model for the BMW Championship. He was the only golfer to check all the boxes in The Range article. He was my pick to win before the data chart was formed and I’m not changing my mind.

Brooks Koepka $11,800 – On the biggest stages, Koepka shines the brightest. Last week in six holes he went from no where to in the mix on Sunday. No one else has that fire power to turn it on so quickly.

Players priced between $9,000 and $9,900

Patrick Cantlay $9,800 – He was number two in my model last week and despite the price bump lands at number one. If there was one player I felt comfortable to predict a win over Rose, it’s Cantlay. I will have plenty of Rose/Cantlay lineups.

Adam Scott $9,200 – Scott has four Top 10 finishes in his last six events. As long as Scott has the long putter, I’ll be playing him despite his high ownership projections.

Tommy Fleetwood $9,000 – More of a GPP only play, he’s been playing well but not great as of late. Just a solid high end golfer all around. Could make some noise at the BMW Championship.

Golfers priced between $8,000 and $8,900

Tony Finau $8,500 – Finau is finally rounding back into form from 2018. He’s Top 15 in Dk Points, Birdie or Better, Bogey Avoidance and Par 5 Scoring.

Hideki Matsuyama $8,200 – DraftKings keeps lowering his price and I keep playing him. His approach game is usually red hot but lately it’s cooled off. If he can find his irons again, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Matsuyama win the BMW Championship.

Rickie Fowler $8,800 – Fowler has been trending down lately. He double bogey the last hole on Friday at the Northern Trust to miss the cut by one. Besides The Open 6th place finish, Fowler hasn’t had a Top 10 finish in three months. I hope this recent performance keeps his ownership lower as his game should suit this course well.

Players priced between $7,000 and $7,900

Byeong Hun An $7,400 – Usually An’s putter is the problem but lately he’s gotten better with the flat stick. Only losing strokes on the green in two out of his last six events.

Joaquin Niemann $7,300 – I think Niemann burned a few people last week despite his 30th place finish. He shot a five under 66 on Sunday and I hope he continues that momentum into the BMW Championship.

Collin Morikawa $7,900 – Morikawa definitely burned some bridges last week as he’s projected for sub 10% ownership. I don’t know if Morikawa is hitting a rookie wall or just coming back to earth with his recent play. Before his last two events he had three Top 5 including a win, granted those were in easier fields.

Francesco Molinari $7,800 – Molinari is a GPP only play as he hasn’t played all that well outside of The Open in the last four months. Coming in being ranked Top 5 in both Bogey Avoidance and Par 4 Scoring, gives me hope he can bounce back this week.

Golfers priced between $6,000 and $6,900

Emiliano Grillo $6,700 – Grillo played fantastic last week, outside of his short game. Grillo lost nine strokes in his short game, which is unheard of. He’s the opposite of Spieth. Traditionally a better player on bent greens, I will give Grillo another shot.

Cheng Tsung Pan $6,400 – Pan played very well last week as I had him in my player pool. He was sub five percent and should be again this week, a possible pivot off of Grillo. What hurt Pan was the weekend, where he shot a plus one overall and watched his Top 10 placing fall to 24th. Perhaps Pan can have another good finish at the BMW Championship.
