Clayton Kershaw vs. Toronto Blue Jays
FD $12,200 / DK $12,000
I may be a huge Dodgers fan, but I assure you this play is not biased. Despite the excitement of the new Toronto Blue Jays the team is still in the future development phase. The Jays are striking out 23.8 percent of the time versus LHPs with a .307 wOBA and wRC+ of 89. If you combine these numbers with Kershaw’s home ERA of 2.26, then factor in the simple truth that he has not allowed more than two earned runs in his last seven starts, this is an easy one on this 8/20 MLB DFS slate.
Domingo German vs. Oakland Athletics

In general, I find the Athletics a tough team to attack in DFS, they generally do not strike out enough for my liking. However, German has been pitching incredible as of late, opening the potential for a great GPP play. Over his last two starts versus the Indians and Red Sox he has 18 strikeouts in a hair over nine innings. With the Athletics striking out 26.3 percent of the time over the last seven days he is in a prime spot for this 8/20 MLB DFS slate.
Stephen Strasburg vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
FD $10,000 / DK $10,400
With some other top tier choices on this 8/20 MLB DFS slate tonight, and a dicey last two starts, you may have a chance to snag Strasburg at a lower ownership percentage. Although the Pirates are only striking out 18.2 percent of the time versus RHPs, they do not face pitchers with a 10.5 K/9 on a regular basis. Strasburg also benefits by catching the Pirates in a funk as they have a wRC+ of 63 while batting a pathetic .214 over the last seven.
Michael Pineda vs. Chicago White Sox
FD $9,400 / DK $8,900
The White Sox, despite tagging Kyle Gibson last night for four runs, are always still a prime matchup for DFS purposes. They are striking out 25.4 percent of the time versus RHPs with a wRC+ of 85, which is tied for 26th in MLB with the Padres. Pineda has not allowed more than three earned runs in his last seven starts while boasting four one run games in this span. In the last two outings versus the White Sox he has only allowed three earned runs over 13 innings with 13 strikeouts. On an 8/20 MLB DFS slate where you still need a solid SP2 option, Pineda certainly fits this role for both cash games, and GPP play.
Cole Hamels vs. San Francisco Giants
FD $7,300 / DK $7,800
Any time you take Cole Hamels it is a GPP play. Especially on this 8/20 MLB DFS slate. The price point on both sites is dirt cheap, mostly due to his checkered past versus the Giants, and his lackluster performances in three out of his last four starts. The reality is the Giants are not the Giants they once were. They are striking out 22.1 percent of the time versus LHPs with a .wOBA of .298, which is 29th in MLB. The offense has started to fire up a bit, batting .310 over the last seven days, but at the end of the day I still find him the best option with the highest possible upside at his price.
Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the night
I am taking the over on both pitchers here tonight, Chris Archer has had back-to-back games with nine or more strikeouts. This includes striking out 10 Nationals batters the last time he faced them. Meanwhile, Stephen Strasburg has had two straight outings falling below this mark, which is not normal.
