10/4 NHL DFS Centers
Auston Matthews – Matthews is off to a hot start in 2019 after a two goal performance on opening night in NHL DFS. He comes in at a premium price, but it is well worth it as he see’s an average of 18 minutes of ice time and pairs with one of the top rated forward lines in all of hockey. Consider pairing Matthews with wingers Andreas Johnsson and William Nylander.
John Tavares – Another Toronto forward line, but Tavares, Mitch Marner, and Kasperi Kapanen are a slightly cheaper option with similar upside. I am fine with Tavares as a one-off as well but Toronto is my preferred stack tonight so I will look to pair these linemen if possible.
Punt: Alexandre Texier
Honorable Mention: Cody Glass, Nico Hischier.
10/4 NHL DFS Wingers
Mitchell Marner– I listed Marner above as my preferred winger to stack along with John Tavares or Auston Matthews. Marner has been an absolute beast with man advantage, averaging 21 points per season during power plays.
Blake Wheeler – Wheeler and the Jets face The N.J. Devils, who were the second worst team in the Eastern Conference in terms of goal differential, surrendering 275 GA. Wheeler has been more of a distributor as of late, but still offers great scoring upside as indicated last night by scoring two goals in 22 minutes of ice time against the Rangers.
HM: Kyle Connor, Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri.
10/4 NHL DFS Defensemen
Morgan Rielly – As long as Rielly is priced under $6500 on FD I will always consider him in play. He was the highest scoring defender last year and is off to a hot start in the 2019-20 season with five shots, one block, and one assist. Buy low while you can cause he won’t be there for long.
Brent Burns – You definitely have to pay the price for Burns but he is well worth it if you have room to spend up. Burns ended his 2018 season with 105 blocks and averaged 25 minutes of ice time, so even if he doesn’t record a goal he still can almost always pay off his high price tag.
HM: Erik Gustafsson, P.K. Subban
10/4 NHL DFS Goalies
Marc-Andre Fleury – “The Flower” had two strong performances against San Jose during the preseason and posted good numbers throughout last season, owning a .913 SV% and a 2.51 GAA. Vegas also holds their opponents to an average of 29.3, which is the fifth-best in the league. Although goalies count on shots to rack up points, the less dangerous chances on target, the better. Not to mention Fleury had the fifth most wins of any goalie last season at 35.
Cory Schneider – Schneider comes in at a fair price tonight and is backed by one of the better defensive groups in hockey. Although he did end 2018 on a 6-13 record, he still maintains a .903 SV% which is right up there with Marc-Andre Fleury.
