10/23 DFS Diamonds: DFS Pro J.P. on Week 8 NFL, NBA, and Props

Most DFS sites, pros, players, etc. don’t focus on the next week until later on in the week. But I want to provide an early look into Week 8 in the 10/23 DFS Report. I want to focus on the Top 3 games that I’m currently leaning towards for Week 8.

Cash/GPP Plays for NFL Week 8

Seahawksvs. Falcons

Sign me up for any team facing the Falcons. It’s safe to say that the Falcons are one of the worst defense and teams in the NFL. Even though Russell Wilson is the most expensive QB this week, I’ll have a bunch of Wilson lineups with Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf stacks. I might even double up on WR for the Seahawks in most of my lineups. With Dissly out, Wilson needs to throw it to someone. As for the Falcons, let’s wait and see on Matt Ryan’s status throughout the week as I do like the Atlanta side as well with the Seahawks having a pretty weak secondary.

Texansvs. Raiders

This is the shootout game of the week. Both defenses are middle to lower tier and both have some above average offenses.  I expect a lot of points in this game and a lot of Deshaun Watson with Kenny Stills and DeAndre Hopkins in my GPPs. I believe Watson paired with Hopkins might be one of the higher owned QB-WR stacks this week, especially with Fuller gone. I also like Derek Carr with Darren Waller as it seems they have a great thing going right now. The only thing is they finally fixed Waller’s price so it’s not as low as it has been the past few weeks. Josh Jacobs pricing on DraftKings is broken. He will most likely be in a ton of my lineups.

Lionsvs. Giants

I’m not too sure how sneaky this game will be, but I’m loading up on both sides this week. The Lions rank towards the bottom in run defense and the Giants just have one of the worst defenses as a whole.  I expect a shootout, but the question is whether Daniel Jones can pick it back up after some back to back poor performances.

NBA – 10/23 DFS

NBA is back! As I mentioned in my podcast yesterday, I started my full time DFS career with NBA so it’s near and dear to my heart. I’m excited for my Miami Heat to win the Eastern Conference and I’m excited to dive into this slate. I’m also going for another live final ticket! That being said, I’ll be focusing on my core and GPP plays for today along with my favorite game for DFS.   I did mention that I like to wait and see two weeks before I go heavy into my bankroll for NBA to see what offenses to target against bad defenses. For example, the Clippers were one of the worst defenses last year, but with some big upgrades this season, I see them as a Top 10 defense now. This is why I like the wait and see approach for the first few weeks of the season.

We mentionedthis in our Premium Slack Channel yesterday, but with NBA DFS, you need to staylocked in between the final hour before lock until lock. If you can’t be engagedduring that hour, we recommend avoiding the NBA slate. Starting lineups andother news is vital to being successful in NBA DFS. I will still be playing agood chunk for the first few weeks so let’s win some money and dive in.

Teams I’m interested in:

• Spurs vs. Knicks – The Knicks tried toupgrade this past offseason and I believe they are a better team, but I thinkthis is still going to be one of the worst teams in the NBA. I’m a fan of thematchup for the Spurs and I’ll have a good share of DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcusAldridge versus a team that ranked as one of the worst defensively last season.Again, we can expect a better team and defense, but I’ll take my chances withthe Spurs.

• Jazz vs. Thunder – Let’s start off with aquestion. Who do the Thunder still have? Chris Paul is old and Steven Adams can’tcarry this team on his back. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be enticing to see allseason as I feel he will carry this team. I’m targeting the Jazz side of thisgame.

• Kings vs. Suns – The Suns were one of the worst teams and worst defensive teams. I expect a high paced game and a very high scoring game so I’ll be on both teams, but I like the Kings forwards and center for this game more than anything. The Suns couldn’t defend the big man last year and I expect this to continue

    • My big spend of the night. I love the matchup and he’s facing a Brooklyn team that couldn’t defend the PF/C last year.
  • Luka Doncic, PG, DAL – FD: $9,900; DK – $9,400
    • Washington is in tank mode this season. Luka should feast against this bad team.
  • Kristaps Porzingis, PF, DAL – FD: $7,700; DK – $ 8,200
    • This is a more skeptical core play as we don’t know what to expect from Porzingis after missing all last year. He faces Washington, who once again is in tank mode and should be terrible on all ends
  • Bam Adebayo, PF, MIA – FD: $6,900; DK – $7,000
    • Bam is the big man in town. With Whiteside gone, it’s the Bam show and he faces against a Memphis team that struggled mightily against the C last year after shipping off Marc Gasol at the deadline. Load him up!

• My two plays for the day are focusing on the Phoenix Suns vs. Sacramento Kings game. Both teams are coming off a season that had them as twoof the higher paced teams, but also two of the worst defenses in the NBA. Buddy Hield is the second scorer on this squad and I think he’ll hit the over on 20.5 easily while Devin Booker is the number one on one of the worst teams in the NBA and should easily score 30 points tomorrow.
