NBA DraftKings Picks – December 29th

Welcome Back Everyone! Tonights main slate on DraftKings has a total of 4 games and the first match-up tips off at 6:00 P.M. Eastern Time. This article breaks down my favorite NBA plays by position. I will also be available in the Discord chat room to discuss strategy, picks, lineups, etc.. Good luck tonight!

-NBA Schedule-

HOU @ NO – At 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time
SAC @ DEN – At 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time
CHA @ MEM – At 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time
DAL @ LAL – At 9:30 P.M. Eastern Time

Top PG Picks:

Luka Doncic – DK: ($11,400)

Doncic was electrifying in last night’s game against the Warriors. He dropped 31 points, 15 assists, 12 rebounds, and 2 steals in just 30 minutes of action. He didn’t play in the 4th quarter of the game and still put up 78 fantasy points on DraftKings. When you’re building a lineup tonight, start with him. He will have his third match-up of the season against LeBron and the Lakers tonight. Right now, Doncic is averaging 67 fantasy points per game against L.A. Dallas will more than likely play him in heavy minutes as this game should remain very competitive.

Russell Westbrook – DK: ($9,200)

Westbrook is another solid PG on the slate tonight coming off a 46 point outing on DraftKings last night against Brooklyn. Harden obviously stole the show last night, but that didn’t stop Westbrook from throwing up 28 shots. Clint Capella is unlikely to play tonight which will lead to a lot more counting starts for Westbrook. The price tag is very reasonable considering Russ might be looking at a ceiling game tonight. He is going up against New Orleans who is ranked 30th in the NBA against opposing PG’s. On top of that, Westbrook already played them twice this year and is averaging 54.4 fantasy points per game on DraftKings.

PG Analysis: As of right now, I can’t see myself not playing Westbrook or Doncic at the PG tonight. Their ceilings are too high to ignore.

Top SG Picks:

James Harden – DK: ($10,700)

Harden went off last night for 44 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal in 39 minutes of action. This type of performance reminds you of the high ceiling that Harden has any night he takes the floor. To make his case even better for tonight, it looks like Clint Capella will be sidelined once again. That will in turn crank Harden’s usage rate up another notch. Last night I paired Doncic with Harden and it worked extremely well. That same strategy seems like a solid starting point for tonight’s slate. Either way, I think you should have one of them.

Buddy Hield – DK: ($6,200)

Buddy Hield is right back in the same position he was in a few weeks ago. Without Bagley and Fox in the picture. This is a spot he was thriving in only a short time ago. Tonight doesn’t present him with the greatest match-up but he should still be able to hit value. Hield hadn’t scored more than 20 points in a game in his past six games until last night against Phoenix. Without Fox in the lineup, Hield will have the ball in his hands more often. That will lead to more drives to the basket rather than jacking up 10 threes a game. I really like this play for the price tonight.

Delon Wright – DK: ($4,000)

Wright is my sleeper pick at the SG position for tonight’s NBA slate. This slate is completely starved of value and Wright offers you some salary relief. He’s recorded at least 30 points on DraftKings in three of his last four games. To make things more interesting, he’ll play the Lakers tonight for the second time this season. , he’s averaging a solid 32.5 fantasy points per game against them. L.A. also has the 23rd ranked defense in the NBA against opposing SG’s.

Top SF Picks:

LeBron James – DK: ($9,800)

James is another player I will have a hard time not playing tonight as he gets his third go-around with Luka Doncic and company. Over the first two games, James is averaging a whopping 72 fantasy points per game. It’s very evident at this point that LBJ enjoys the competition that Doncic brings to the table. On top of all this, LeBron has been on a roll as of late with least 54 points on DraftKings in eight of his last ten games. He very well could be looking at a ceiling game tonight so make sure you sprinkle him in some of your lineups.

Brandon Ingram – DK: ($8,100)

If I am taking anyone from the Pelicans tonight, it’s going to be Brandon Ingram. He has been extremely consistent this season even when the competition level rises. Tonight he will take on Houston for the second time this season. I the first match-up, Ingram went off for 63.3 fantasy points on DraftKings. Houston ranks 26th in the NBA against opposing SF’s which places Ingram in a great DFS spot. If he flirts with 50 fantasy points tonight it would be a home run considering his price.

Will Barton – DK: ($6,100)

Barton provides the SF position with some salary relief tonight coming in at $6,100. He’s recorded at least 30 fantasy points on DK in seven out of his last ten games. Barton is a stat-stuffer and who can shoot, rebound, pass, and defend at a high-level. Tonight he will take on Sacramento for the third time this season. Barton is currently averaging 35 fantasy points per game against SAC this year. Another positive — Sacramento is ranked 27th in the NBA against opposing SF’s.

Top PF Picks:

Anthony Davis – DK: ($9,700)

Anthony Davis is another high-cost play that is in consideration tonight due to his high-ceiling capability. He has a solid match-up on paper tonight as Dallas is ranked 24th in the NBA against opposing PF’s. This will be his third game against the Mavericks this season and he’s currently averaging 50.5 fantasy points per game against them. However, if you are looking to buy down this position to save some salary you’re in luck. Either way, look for Davis to have a floor of 45 fantasy points on DraftKings.

Richaun Holmes – DK: ($7,100)

Injuries built a ton of hype around Holmes and for good reason. However, everyone and their mother were on Holmes last night and he disappointed with just 19 fantasy points. But that’s just how DFS goes sometimes. You swing, you miss, you get back up. That clunker will not deter me form dropping him back in my lineup tonight. I mean, he’s put up at least 33 fantasy points on DraftKings in four out of his last five games. Tonight he will take on Denver for the third time this season. He’s averaging 39.6 fantasy points per game against them.

Nemanja Bjelica – DK: ($5,700)

Bjelica is another solid option at the PF tonight as his price is on the cheaper side. This spot is not new territory for Bjelica as Fox and Bagley have been riddled with injuries all season long. Without those two tonight, there will be extra minutes and shots to go around. This is his third time playing Denver this season and he’s averaging 33.8 fantasy points per game against them. Look for him to have a floor of 26 fantasy points tonight.

Top C Picks:

Jonas Valanciunas – DK: ($6,700)

Valanciunas is one of my favorite plays at the C position tonight as Memphis gets set to take on Charlotte. The Hornets are ranked 28th in the entire NBA against opposing C’s so this is a very exploitable match-up for MEM bigs. The only troubling aspect with Valanciunas is his playing time is still sitting around 25 minutes per game. He is still very productive in that amount of time, it just caps his overall ceiling. Earlier in the season against Charlotte, Valanciunas racked up 38 fantasy points in just 23 minutes of action.

Derrick Favors – DK: ($6,500)

Favors represents a solid value play at the C position tonight on DraftKings. Houston will be without their starting center Clint Capella which will make things a lot easier for Favors down low. Derrick has now racked up at least 36 points on DraftKings in each of his last three games and will look to carry that into tonight. Houston is ranked 19th in the NBA against opposing C’s. Take Capella out of that equation; you get a very exploitable match-up.

Jerami Grant – DK: ($3,800)

Grant is my punt play on DraftKings tonight due to his extremely low price. Paul Milsap has been ruled out for tonight’s game so Grant will take his spot in the starting five. Grant can be quiet at times but when he gets his shot going it’s fun to watch. If he can get you 20 fantasy points tonight he’ll pay off. This play will allow you to buy up at another position in order to stack your lineup with more power.
