This article discusses a core for DFS players to build around for today’s FanDuel NBA slate. While there are many different sports and various contests pertaining to DFS along with their respective strategies, we focus on the main approaches to build both reliable cash and GPP lineups for a successful NBA night including pace, the projected over/under, one on one matchups, and a team’s defensive rating. Make sure to stay active when building NBA lineups – if you cannot be in front of a computer, tablet, or on your phone an hour before lock do not throw your money away! NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and is the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value. Stay alert on the WinDaily Discord chat to follow along with our updated plays. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
PointGuard: Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors ($7,800)
Seeing over 38 minutes per game for an injury-riddled Toronto Raptors team, NBA champion Kyle Lowry is as safe as it gets on tonight’s NBA slate. With only 4 games on tap, we do not have the luxury of seeing much value available to us barring any injury news, so Lowry is a great mid-range point guard to target. In a game that should be closer than the -9.5 spread indicates, Lowry will be relied upon to run the Raptors’ offense along with Fred VanVleet. He sees a Cavaliers defense that ranks worst in DVP versus the point guard, allowing a league-high 51.86 FanDuel points per game and should exploit his matchup against young guards Darius Garland and Collin Sexton.
HonorableMention / Pivot: Russell Westbrook, Houston Rockets ($9,600)
ShootingGuard: Damion Lee, Golden State Warriors ($6,000)
The Golden State Warriors will be even more shorthanded tonight with D’Angelo Russell ruled out with an illness. An NBA Christmas Day slate gem, Damion Lee will be back in my lineups tonight despite a price increase on both sites. In his last 3 games, Lee is averaging 11.67 rebounds and will be counted on to secure even more of them now that Willie Cauley-Stein is ruled out. Look for Damion Lee to surpass his projections against a Spurs team that struggles versus wing players, allowing over 40 FanDuel points per game.
HonorableMention / Pivot: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder ($7,400)
SmallForward: Alec Burks, Golden State Warriors ($5,600)
Similarly to Damion Lee, Alec Burks will see a lot of time on the floor tonight as the primary ball-handler for the Golden State Warriors. Whether he will be starting or coming off the bench, I expect Burks to see 30+ minutes and should smash his price tag; the Spurs are a bottom 10 team against primary ball handlers, allowing nearly 50 FanDuel points per game.
HonorableMention / Pivot: Will Barton, Denver Nuggets ($6,300)
PowerForward: LaMarcus Aldridge, San Antonio Spurs ($8,200)
Facing a Warriors team that has improved their defense against big men with the addition of Willie Cauley-Stein, LaMarcus Aldridge should go overlooked on tonight’s NBA slate. The Warriors will be without WCS and will turn to Marquese Chriss in the starting lineup. In his career, Aldridge produces 1.13 FanDuel points per minute and should dominate the paint on his way to a successful stat line.
HonorableMention / Pivot: Kevin Love, Cleveland Cavaliers ($7,300)
Center:Jakob Poetl, San Antonio Spurs ($3,800)
With teammate LaMarcus Aldridge drawing a favorable matchup in Marquese Chriss, Jakob Poetl is someone to target in the same game. In their previous meeting this season, Poetl scored 21.5 FanDuel points in just 18 minutes on an efficient 9/10/1 scoring line. With Poetl coming off the bench for Aldridge, I love playing the two in the same NBA lineup tonight.
HonorableMention / Pivot: Dwight Powell, Dallas Mavericks ($5,000)
Gamesto Target
