Insight Sheet – The American Express

The Insight Sheet gets you ready before lock for The American Express. Inside is my personal player selection. We go into the depth about why the player was selected and how they should be used. Make sure to be on Discord tonight to get final questions asked and for help with lineup building. As always the sheet uses DraftKings pricing but the model is set up for overall play. Players can be used on all sites.

Players priced $10,000 and up

Sungjae Im $11,000 – Im is fourth in the field in BOB percentage. He’s coming off two top 15 in his last two starts. Im will be close to 20 owned but he’s worth it as a Vegas favorite.

Byeong An $10,300 **Pivot** – An appears 6th in my overall model. With his distance off of the tee, he should have a shorter iron/wedge for his second shot. He’s seventh in the field in approaches from 125 – 150 yards and is a nice pivot off of Im.

Tony Finau $10,500 **GPP** – Finau is coming off some lackluster finishes with a missed cut, 53rd and a 59th respectively. Before that, though he gained strokes T2G in six straight tournaments. At a possible sub 10 percent ownership, I’ll have my shares of Finau at The American Express.

Players priced between $9,000 and $9,900

Scottie Scheffler $9,500 – Scheffler has gained strokes in eight of his last nine events. He’s number one in the field in Birdie or Better percentage and 5th in Par 4 scoring. Another 20% ownership candidate, look to pivot elsewhere, as Scheffler should get his first win soon.

Matthew Wolff $9,000 – Wolff comes into the AmEx ranking fourth in Par 5 birdie or better leaders. He already has a win last year at the 3M open where he gained 13 strokes tee to green. His off the tee game, despite his distance, has some holes. But if he can land the ball in the fairway he has a shot of winning this tournament.

Jason Kokrak $9,100 **Pivot** – Kokrak turned it on last year with his ball-striking prowess. As my highest rated 9K player, he should be a nice pivot off the top two players. The 64th ranked player in the world has a chance to make some noise this week.

Players priced between $8,000 and $8,900

Brian Harman $8,600 – I fully expect Harman to be a cash game staple this week at The American Express. We played him last week and we’re going right back. Number 10 overall in the model, his performance last week will vault his ownership up.

J.T. Poston $8,500 **Pivot** – Poston let a lot of people down last week, which will lead to some recency bias in our favor. He missed the cut on the number, not the worst showing in the world. Being top 15 in the field in BOB and a hot putter, I’ll zig when others are zagging.

Alexander Noren $8,400 – Noren played really well last week at the Sony Open despite his 32nd finish. He lost almost four strokes on the greens which cost him a nice finish. I feel confident Noren’s flat stick straightens out and he finishes inside the top 20.

Ryan Moore $8,300 **GPP** – Moore surprised me this week showing up third in my overall model. He hasn’t played in a few months but Moore has always done well T2G. When his putter gets hot though he can hold his own.

Chez Reavie $8,000 **GPP** – Reavie is more of an overall stat guy, one that looks good on paper. He hasn’t done much since his eight-place finish at the Tour Championship and the Hero Classic but I’m hoping it might change this week. 23rd in the model as well as 13th in the FanShareSports Course Suitability metric. Great long term iron player with scoring upside.

Players priced between $7,000 and $7,900

Kyle Stanley $7,000 **GPP** – I wrote up Stanley last week and he burned me. I’m going right back through this week, but make no mistake, he will not be highly owned on my side. He comes into the model number two overall. That reason alone I’ll have a sprinkle of him this week at The American Express.

Rory Sabbatini $7,600 – A cash gameplay with both recent form and tournament history on his side. At the Sony, Open Sabbatini started off hot the first two days but fizzled out over the weekend. Here’s to hoping he can sustain his play all weekend long.

Aaron Wise $7,300 **GPP** – Like Stanley and Sabbatini, Wise is back for another week. Last week he played very well in all aspects of his game, outside of putting, where he lost almost three strokes. A player that does generally better on Bermuda I’m willing to go back to the well despite the MC. Wise comes in 16th in the field in BOB and 11th in Par 5 scoring.

Cameron Tringale $7,100 – Tringale is the 18th rated player in my model and it seems I’m not the only one who likes him. As a player who projects as one of the highest owned in the field, you either need to fade or go overweight. With only having one week where he didn’t gain strokes tee to green in the last 13 tries. It makes sense that he will see many cash game lineups.

Bud Cauley $7,300 – Cauley is 26th in the model and 14th in the Course Suitability metric. Cauley missed the cut last week but has done very well in The American Express over the years. Three top 15 in four tries while gaining over 28 strokes in that same span.

Players priced between $6,000 and $6,900 **GPP Only**

Jhonattan Vegas $6,800 – Mr. Vegas comes in number one in my model this week for the AmEx. As a golfer with a bigger driver than most, Vegas can take advantage of the par 5 where he better than half the pack. If Vegas ownership rises too high though, I’ll look elsewhere.

Harry Higgs $6,900 – The initial find of Higgs, goes out to Lee Alldrick (@DKGolfBargins) over at FanShare Sports. Once I saw he was interested in him, I dug deeper. Eighth in the field in Par 4 BOB, three straight cuts with a 2nd at the Bermuda Championship. Only lost OTT and APP strokes once over the last six starts. If he can make the cut he averages, 72 DK Points, good enough for 10X his salary. I will take a few shots with Higgs this week.

D.J. Trahan $6,700 -Trahan is the 20th best birdie or better machine in the field. He’s seventh in Par 5 scoring as well. He has two top 30s in his last two stops but has done horribly at this tournament in the past.

Josh Teater $6,300 **Punt/Salary Saver** – All you’re looking for in Teater is to hopefully make the cut on Saturday or at least score well the first three days. He will be my least owned golfer but reaching this far down I think you can do worse.
