Win Daily Show Interview with AJ Vaynerchuk
On episode 6 of the Win Daily Show Interviews, Michael Rasile got an interview with AJ Vaynerchuk to learn more about VaynerSports. AJ was the COO of VaynerMedia but decided he wanted something else. He gave his brother, Gary Vee, about a 12 month head start to find his replacement. After that was set, he was excited to start an athlete representation business.
AJ believed that the athlete representation business was ripe for disruption due to the lack of new life and energy. By coming along and injecting new ideas into the business, he and his brother believed they could become successful.
They also had the giants of VaynerMedia and “Gary Vee” on their side to help in this process. Through their prior business relationships, knowledge of the media market, and Gary’s millions of Instagram Followers, they didn’t quite start from scratch. Athletes that started to work with AJ and VaynerSports had a much deeper connection to specific brands and executives in the space.
The Vaynerchuk’s also have a great understanding of social and digital marketing, this is another reason many athletes wanted to work with them. Athletes now have the opportunity to create something that would be bigger than football and could extend much past their playing days.
One aspect of the business that AJ feels very comfortable with is contract negotiation. At VaynerMedia he would negotiate with companies that are two times the size of the entire NFL, to give it some perspective. With this ability, he has found that NFL player contracts aren’t too much to handle.
Through all of these options and opportunities, VaynerSports has been able to rise in the eyes of college football and NFL players. They’re starting to amass a roster of athletes that will have great careers on and off the field.
