3M Open 2020 PGA: Saturday Showdown Targets
It was a wild start to the tournament with many big names missing the cut. If you didn’t have 6 golfers make it to the weekend on the main slate, do not fear the Saturday showdown slate is here!
Building lineups for showdown slates differs from the main slate because you do not need to worry about consistency and making the cut. You just need to find your 6 guys that are capable of shooting a low score that day. Since consistency over multiple days will not be a factor, you want to target more volatile golfers who can get birdies in bunches.
For Saturday’s showdown slate, I am targeting T2G data (mainly APP and OTT) from Friday. I tend to fade golfers who gained strokes putting as it is much harder to predict a hot putter from day to day.
Looking at the field heading into Saturday, there are only four remaining golfers with a salary above $9,000 on DK, so you should be able to build balanced lineups.
Tony Finau ($10,600): Tony has been playing well dating back to last week at the Memorial (excluding a rough day on Sunday). He was locked in with his irons +4 SG APP on Friday and he is the best golfer in the field by a large margin. I will have a lot of exposure to Tony on Saturday’s slate!
Harris English ($9,200):Harry got red hot Friday birdieing 8 of his first 16 holes before bogeying his last two holes to end the day. His ball striking was outstanding +4.24 SG APP and I anticipate Harry to continue to play well on Saturday as one of the better golfers remaining in the field.
Dylan Frittelli ($8,000):Dylan is not known to be a great putter and he did not put well today (-1.35 strokes putting). However his ball striking is in great form +5.08 SG T2G which ranked third behind only Finau and Brian Harman on Friday. I expect him to continue to strike the ball well and if he can sink a few putts on Saturday then he should help you place in the money!
Xinjun Zhang ($7,900):On Sunday’s showdown slate last week at the Memorial Tournament Zhang was minimum salary ($6,000), his salary has come a long way after just three rounds. Xinjun is playing great and the price raise is deserving. On Friday he gained +2.91 strokes T2G and +2.1 SG ARG. I am going to keep riding him while he is hot.
Scott Sallings ($7,700):Scott has been playing well since play resumed in June, shooting a 68 or better in 9 of his 18 rounds played. He was not great off the tee on Friday -1.06 OTT however he gained +4.72 strokes APP and +1.35 SG ARG while shooting 7 under. I will definitely want to have some exposure to Scott on Saturday’s slate.

Matthias Schwab ($7,200):+3.89 SG T2G
+1.32 SG OTT
+2.67 SG APP
Brice Garnett ($6,800):+3.82 SG T2G
+1.38 SG OTT
+2.97 SG APP
