This article focuses on 8/17 NHL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and Fanduel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large. All rankings are site specific.
8/17 NHL Game Plan
Both sites will have the same four game slate beginning at 3PM ET with the Tampa Bay/Columbus game.
The Breakdown
Both the Avalanche and Lightning come in with 2-1 series leads and are big favorites to get one step closer to the second round. The Avalanche dropped their last game against the Coyotes, despite putting up double the amount of shots. They should be in for some positive regression here.
If Pasta is back, Boston is sort of intriguing as a tournament pivot. With so much focus on guys like Nathan MacKinnon and Nikita Kucherov, people likely won’t have money for side oddities like the Bruins. I normally leave off Brad Marchand since he has become an assist man “Boston’s Mitch Marner” and just run a Bergeron/Pasta two man, but you can play all three if you wish.
Vancouver also provides us ton of potential pivots, mostly at mid-level prices. However, they have been getting fairly chalky recently, Bo Horvat, in particular. Everyone knows that this St. Louis Blues team is nothing compared to what they were in last year’s playoffs, and Jordan Binnington is slumping hard “Jake Allen started last night”. However, chalky or not, the Canucks are rolling and offer solid value where needed on both sites.

The one day I listed this prop bet so far was the only one of the three it didn’t hit. With Colorado shooting a ton and Arizona getting very little puck possession, let’s continue to hammer this!
