Cash Game NBA Breakdown For 8.17

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! We’ve managed to survive the last week of the season and know it is playoff time. Traditionally, rotations are much tighter during the playoffs so if you are a cash game player most of the time you can feel a little more confident in submitting those lineups than you were last week. Additionally, along with those tighter rotations prices also tend to tighten up on both sights but today we do have a few spots of value to attack that we can take advantage of. With that said let’s get into my Cash Game NBA Breakdown For 8.17.

Very important note for those who don’t know: I typically do not put the high priced guys in my articles. We all should know that guys like Luka, Embiid, and Leonard are good plays.

Cash Game NBA Breakdown 8.17, Guards:

Jordan Clarkson, Jazz, 3.8K(DK)/4.4K(FD):

With Conley absent from today’s contest Clarkson is a clear value now that he is in the starting rotation. He should have no issues getting 30+ plus minutes today which creates a very clear path to hit value.

Josh Richardson, 76’ers, 5.5K(DK)/4.8K(FD):

They seemed to have adjusted for the new role a bit more on DraftKings but they made zero attempts to correct for Simmons being out on FanDuel. Either way his there is still value to be had for his price price. Boston is decent but not great defensively and when Simmons is out Richardson tends to take a few more shots and sees a small uptick in his periferals.

Caris LeVert, Nets, 7.6K(DK)/8.3K(FD):

I like this play a bit more on DK than FD but you can use it for both if you’re so incline. Don’t let the little red number next to the name scare you off on this one. Toronto should be able to maintain a decent lead in this contest just based on talent and the pace of this matchup will be a bit higher than what the Nets usually run creating a combination of tempo and scoring needs that fit LeVert quite well in this contest. I don’t know why but I always feel like LeVert and Dinwiddie previously get a bit disrespected in terms of pricing, especially on Draftkings where either should be around 8K most of the time.

Fred VanVleet, Raptors, 6.8K (DK)/7.0K(FD):

On the other side of our up tempo contest VanVleet is sitting at a pretty good price on both sites for a cash game play. With the rotations tightening up for the playoffs and Fred appearing to be at 100 percent healthwise there is a definitive floor of around 5x salary at his current price if he sees more than 35 minutes with a potential upside of between 7-8x if every falls into place perfectly. I don’t play a ton of him usually but this looks like a really good spot to put him in your lineup as the Nets are marginal at best defensively.

(FANDUEL ONLY, PG) Jamal Murray, 6.1K:

You will almost never see me recommend Murray for cash games but after looking at the dumpster fire for point guard on FanDuel there is no way around it. I don’t know where Utah’s defense went but they have been horrible all season and have turned into a clear target for point guards. I really don’t know why Fanduel’s point guard position is so this but we all have to work with what we’ve got and within that context Murray is my cash play.

Also Consider: Shake Milton, Lou Williams

Cash Game NBA Breakdown 8.17, Forwards:

Tobias Harris, 76ers, 7.8K(DK)/7.1K(FD):

If you wanted to avoid him on DK where they adjusted his price I can understand but I’ll have a lot of him in my FanDuel cash at 7.1K. His usage goes up around 1.3 percent with Simmons out and when he missed time during the season he was producing at a rate you would see from a guy over 8K. If they continue to keep his price down on FanDuel I’ll keep playing him so long as Simmons does not return.

OG Anunoby, Raptors, 3.5K(DK)/4.3K(FD):

He should be good to go but verify his status before plugging him in tonight. He is criminally under priced on both sites tonight. As I mentioned already Brooklyn is not a defensive minded team and even on a bad night OG can give you 6x value at this price with a true ceiling of well over 10x, especially on Fanduel. If he suits up I’ll be close to 100 percent with OG.

Paul Millsap, Nuggets, 5.0K(DK)/4.3K(FD):

Far from flashy or exciting, but with the rotations tightening and the appearance that Denver was taking it easy on him for the playoff run I expect to see a lot more Millsap on the floor tonight to help negate Gobert under the rim. I still like Rudy as a rim protector but Millsap isn’t going to bang with him underneath offensively. He is going to use his experience and savvy to get Gobert’s feet out of position (which he is apt to do) and out finesse him the entire game. as long as the minutes are there I have no concern about Paul tonight.

Royce O’Neile, Jazz, 3.5K(DK)/4.5K(FD):

You can possibly make a case to use someone else on FanDuel but at 3.5K on Draftkings it hard to pass up on Royce in the starting rotation. I know he’s not a huge usage guy but we need to be really mindful of who is going to be getting the minutes during the playoffs and outside the Clippers I don’t see other teams giving their benches extended run, at least to this point. It is by no means flashy or pretty but I feel like Royce will give us a safe enough floor in cash to keep us above the money line.

Cash Game NBA Breakdown 8.17, Centers:

Joel Embiid, 76’ers (FanDuel Lock, 8.5K)

As I noted above everyone knows the top guys are a good play pretty much anytime but I had to point this out. There is no way I am playing anyone besides Embiid on Fanduel if they are going to price him this low without Simmons. This is a clear pricing error and I think you’re flushing money down the toilet if you consider using anyone else.

Nikola Jokic, Nuggets, 8.7K, DraftKings:

I’m not trying to get cute with centers tonight for cash, for Draftkings if I don’t use Embiid at 10.1K I’ll go down to Jokic. There is enough of a price difference to offset the confidence that I have in Embiid. Jokic can get a bit lazy at times but I don’t think we’ll have that problem in the first game of the playoffs and much like I noted with Millsap finesse and the ability to spread out will do wonders with Gobert under the basket. He may not go off under the rim but Jokic is more than versatile enough to make up for that potential lack of production with assists and the occasional three pointer.
