Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 5/2

This Sunday of NBA GPP Picks 5/2 brings us a seven-game slate to evaluate. As usual towards the end of the season, there is tons of injury news to track. Lebron leads the news to track as he is questionable for tonight’s game after playing 32 minutes in his return from a month-long absence. Dejounte Murray is another name to keep an eye on as we already have a long list of players out. That will increase throughout the day tomorrow as Toronto may have some rest candidates. Let’s watch for some news in Dallas with Luka potentially sitting on a back-to-back. Follow all news with the WinDaily family and me in the Discord Chat rooms. Now it’s time to get into today’s selections!

In today’s article, I will be using DraftKings pricing to select my two top players at each position using a GPP/Tournament mindset.

Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 5/2

Point Guard
Lamelo Ball – ($6,800)

There was no indication that Charlotte would sit Ball on the second leg of a back-to-back. If we don’t get word of a restriction before tip I will risk Ball in GPP’s. The only question Is the minutes because this price is too cheap and Charlotte is without two key players. With Graham and Hayward out, Ball leads the Hornets in usage at 28.2%. He also scores a team-leading 1.26 fantasy points per minute with those two out.

Lonnie Walker – ($3,500)

Derrick White will miss another game and Dejounte Murray is questionable for the Spurs. With White out the past two games Walker seen 29 and 34 minutes, resulting in 24.8 and 32.5 fantasy points. In those two games, Walker is averaging above a 20% usage rate which is fantastic for his cheap price.

Shooting Guard
Tyrese Haliburton – ($7,300)

The Kings will be without De’Aaron Fox and Harrison Barnes tonight. When those two are out the rookie sees a 5.8% usage increase to 24% and averages 1.17 fantasy points per minute during that time. He has scored over 40 fantasy points in three of his last four games. In those three games, Haliburton has played 36 or more minutes making him an excellent play.

Charlie Brown – ($3,000)
It is hard to ignore a player at the minimum salary that just led his team in minutes last game. I know it was a massive blowout but tonight’s game likely gets out of hand quickly too. He shot ten times in that game which is plenty for a player at his salary. I don’t love the matchup but the Thunder said they want to give him a look and we saw that last night where he drew the start.

Small Forward
Luka Doncic – ($10,800)

Luka is coming off an amazing performance against Washington where he scored 80 fantasy points with a stat line of 31p-20a-12r. He gets an equally enticing matchup against the worst defensive team in the league who gives up the fifth-most fantasy points to point guards. Porzingis will remain out again putting all the heavy lifting on Doncic. The Kings will be without arguably their best defender in Harrison Barnes as well.

Jaylen Brown – ($8,400)
Kemba Walker will remain out for his fourth consecutive game. When Kemba is out Brown gets a 4.8% usage bump making him the team leader at 34.7%. He averages 1.3 fantasy points per minute and hasn’t played under 37 minutes in the past three games without Walker. A plus matchup is waiting too with Portland being the second-worst defensive team and is giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to small forwards this year.

Power Forward
OG Anunoby – ($6,800)

Part of the reason I made this pick is I think we could see Toronto maybe sit someone tonight. Anunoby hasn’t seen under a 23% usage rate in five straight games. His average usage without Lowry, Trent, and Boucher is 26% which is a 6.5% increase. The man has been consistent recently scoring at least 33 fantasy points in six straight making this price tag look great.

Marvin Bagley – ($4,500)
Sacramento has Barnes and Metu doubtful coming into today. That is good news for Bagley who just returned from an extended absence last game. In that game, he played 21 minutes that should increase to 25 or so this game. That will be enough because, without Fox and Barnes, Bagley leads the team in usage at 25.1%. He records 1.08 fantasy points per minute with them absent.

Center
Anthony Davis – ($9,100)

Even with Lebron returning last game Davis led the team in usage at 28%. Before Lebron returned Davis had four straight games with over 30% usage rate. Last game Davis did play 34 minutes which tells me he will be a full go tonight if needed. That game saw Davis go for his most fantasy point since returning from injury with 51. This price is reasonable and if Lebron sits Davis likely becomes a must-play with his 5% usage increase without Lebron.

Maxi Kleber – ($3,500)

With Porzingis being out last night the Mavs started Kleber who played 27 minutes scoring 23.75 fantasy points. He gets an amazing matchup against the Kings who rank dead last in defensive rating and has been a top ten team in pace this season. The minutes have been there with no less than 27 in the past two games which should be plenty to pay of Kleber’s salary.

Closing Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 5/2

This will be a fun seven-game slate for NBA GPP Picks 5/2. Lots of injuries starting with Lebron questionable means usage and value available on today’s slate. Stars will be easy to get tonight with plenty of value on the board. Now that the NFL Draft Is over the focus is back on baseball and basketball.
