We are just a few short days away from the weekend we’ve been dreaming about all summer long. Week 1 is upon us, and I’m here to breakdown some solid plays at NFL DFS Wide Receivers for you to target on both FanDuel and Draft Kings. Week 1 is always a little dicey, because we have some rookies and not much data yet, but I’ll be breaking down some safe cash plays and some GPP plays so we can take down some nice tournaments this year. Each week I will lay out my favorite options up top and the best value plays on the board as well. Once you’re done reading this article make sure to hop in our expert chat on Discord to stay up to date with lineup discussions.
Lets dive in to this Week 1 NFL DFS slate and talk some Wide Receivers. We have a 14 game main slate and there are a lot of options at this position, so its important to understand ownership and where I think the field will target.
Calvin Ridley $7900 DraftKings $8100 FanDuel
Calvin Ridley finished as the WR4 and averaged 18.8 FPG last season. He crushed in the air yards category and he out paced the league with 1918 air yards. Ridley averaged 7.3 catches, 107.0 yards, and 11.1 targets per game in the eight games that Julio Jones missed in 2019-20. So with no Julio this year, you can go ahead and hit the lock button all year, and there is nothing more juicy than playing the Eagles in week 1. The Eagles gave up the ninth-most FPG (39.6) to WRs last season. Currently I have him around 20% owned on FD and about 16% owned on DK. He will be a great cash play this week, and of course with his upside, he is great play for tournaments as well.
Stefon Diggs $7600 DraftKings $7900 FanDuel
Stefon Diggs played a big role in Josh Allen’s breakthrough season last year as he finished his first season in Buffalo as the overall WR3 with 20.5 FPG. Diggs led the league last year with 1535 receiving yards and was the only wide receiver to reach double-digit FP in every game. He won a lot of people some good money last year by averaging 10 catches, over 129 yards and a touchdown per game. I don’t see that trend stopping anytime soon, and the connection that Allen and Diggs has might be the best in the league. Last year in Week 14 against the Steelers he put up 10/130/1. He will continue to smash, and week 1 looks no different to me.
DK Metcalf $7500 DraftKings $7700 FanDuel
The price tag on Metcalf already just seems too cheap to me. And now as of today (Thursday) his ownership is way to low. We all know that this dude is a freak of nature and just an absolute beast. With a close spread this weekend and a high O/U, you know there is going to be some points put up in this matchup. Metcalf can certainly be a little volatile, but the upside is through the roof with this guy. I’m hoping Wilson continues to target him, and I can’t see why he wouldn’t. Currently right now he’s sitting at about 10% owned on both sites which seems like robbery to me. Load up in your GPPs this week with this bad ass mofo.
Michael Pittman $4100 DraftKings $5300 FanDuel
Another solid NFL DFS Wide Receiver for Week 1 is Michael Pittman. Pittman is a value guy that just stands out to me. Sure it’s definitely risky with a new quarterback, but who else are they going to throw to. TY Hilton is just waiting to get his next injury, and he looks to be starting the season on IR. The price tag that Pittman is sitting at, he seems like a lock at the WR3 position this week and a spot where you can grab some nice value. We don’t need much from him at this price tag, and he should see a lot of targets and potentially the WR1 for indy this week.
Jerry Jeudy $4800 DraftKings $5500 FanDuel
Jeudy is another spot where we can find some nice value this week. Jeudy is a guy that is quick and can get some nice separation from the defense, and looking at the Giants matchup this week, I think he will find success pretty easily. The game total is on the lower side, so I am proceeding with a little bit of caution, but the price tag is hard to ignore so you can get those studs into your builds.
Other guys I want to make mention of – Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, AJ Brown, Robbie Anderson, Corey Davis, Marquez Callaway
