NBA DFS: Gems with Ghost and Adam 11/13

A low scoring affair last night put us in a great position despite Anthony Davis getting no help whatsoever from his teammates; tonight’s NBA slate is yet another enticing one, so let’s get after it. It’s a Seltzer Saturday’s edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

One thing I want to clarify based on the questions I have received over the past few years is that I will never list a player under the $5,000 price tag simply because I use the projection model to identify all targets in this range and below. While there are often plenty of options that I like at $5,000 and less, since I often find myself with not only one – but multiple – in my NBA DFS lineups, you all have access to the very model I use to make my own selections, so when asking yourself: “Should I use player X or player Y?”, make sure to check the model because that is how I make all of my own decisions and I truly ride or die by it on a daily basis.

Before running to the DraftKings, FanDuel, or Yahoo lobby to construct your NBA DFS lineup after reading this article, please make sure to utilize the abundance of tools we have at Win Daily:

Point Guards

Tyrese Maxey ($7,200 DK / $8,100 FD)

Logging over 40 MPG across his last six contests, Tyrese Maxey’s contributions on the offensive end are largely a byproduct of his time spent on the court, but that will certainly be in the fold yet again for tonight’s NBA slate. The 76ers remain short handed despite the return of Tobias Harris from the COVID-19 list, and while a matchup versus Malcolm Brogdon is a daunting task, seeing what Maxey just did against Toronto’s 2-3 zone gives me confidence in the sophomore point guard.

Spencer Dinwiddie ($6,500 DK / $6,200 FD)

While it surely is the smallest of sample sizes, Spencer Dinwiddie was electric in his lone appearance without Bradley Beal in the lineup. Sporting a 35.5% usage rate en route to a 34/6/9 scoring line in that game, Dinwiddie will be relied upon to shoulder the load on offense tonight, alongside Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell, versus an Orlando Magic team that ranks 26th in the NBA in defensive rating.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Ja Morant ($10,200 DK / $9,800 FD)
  • Cade Cunningham ($5,600 DK / $5,800 FD)

Shooting Guards

Anthony Edwards ($8,400 DK / $8,600 FD)

Two nights in a row for Edwards appearing in the article? While this is being written before the Timberwolves/Lakers game, Edwards remains a worthy consideration for our lineup construction on tonight’s NBA slate. With the Clippers being decimated by primary ball handlers on a nightly basis, there’s no denying Edwards’ ceiling considering he leads his team with a 30.9% usage rate while also leading in scoring (25.9 PPG) and FGA per game (22.3).

Seth Curry ($5,800 DK / $5,900 FD)

With his usage in this offense won’t differ from night to night, Seth Curry has the ability to get hot from deep and provide solid value in the mid range of the pricing grid on tonight’s NBA slate. He’s logged no fewer than 33 minutes across his last six contests, and with Indiana ranking 25th in three-point shooting defense, getting different with Curry as a scarce SG slot is on the board.

Honorable Mentions

  • D’Angelo Russell ($7,000 DK / $7,100 FD)
  • Caris LeVert ($6,900 DK / $7,200 FD)

Small Forwards

Paul George ($10,600 DK / $10,000 FD)

While he might not seem enticing to play a hefty price tag, especially with the Ja Morant / Jonas Valanciunas mini stack looking awfully tempting, PG13’s ceiling is as high as ever against the Timberwolves, who are on the second night of a back-to-back. After blowing out the Lakers last night, they’ll have to find an answer for PG, whose 34.5% usage rate across 35.3 MPG has led to some ridiculously productive outings. With Minnesota ranking dead last in the NBA to combo forwards, getting both PG and the player written below might be my move.

Nicolas Batum ($5,400 DK / $6,100 FD)

Look no further than the trusty veteran as a good source of value on tonight’s NBA slate. While Nic Batum is far from the tallest player in the league, his intellectual positioning allows him to matchup against the best centers around the league. Logging no fewer than 26 minutes across his last six games, Batum has been averaging over a steal and a block per game during that stretch, while also shooting 58.5% from behind the arc.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Scottie Barnes ($6,900 DK / $7,200 FD)
  • Kyle Kuzma ($6,400 DK / $6,600 FD)

Power Forwards

Wendell Carter Jr. ($6,800 DK / $6,000 FD)

The king of inconsistent minutes, WCJ has a high ceiling when it comes to production/minutes in the frontcourt. Before the last game’s 18-minute outing, WCJ logged four straight games of 29 minutes or more, including topping out at 36 minutes in each of the other three. Facing a Wizards defense that has vastly improved year over year, he’s the Magic player I want the most considering his individual matchups against the likes of Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell, who are two notoriously poor defenders in recent years in the NBA.

Jaren Jackson Jr. ($6,200 DK / $6,900 FD)

With the Memphis Grizzlies struggling to find a true identity in their offense right now, Jackson will be forced to play a ton of minutes in different roles; Ja Morant remains the focal point of this offense, and rightfully so, but with Steven Adams providing inconsistent minutes and poor defense against the traditional pick ‘n roll, the Grizzlies are looking for answers. JJJ has now logged five straight games of 13 or more points across 25 or more minutes in each contest, where he’s shooting 45.7% from the field while sporting a 25.3% usage rate, proving himself as a reliable target in the mid range of the pricing grid on most NBA slates, depending on the matchup at hand.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Josh Hart ($5,500 DK / $4,900 FD)
  • Franz Wagner ($4,800 DK / $5,200 FD)

Centers

  • Jonas Valanciunas ($9,300 DK / $8,800 FD)
  • Andre Drummond ($9,000 DK / $8,900 FD)

Honorable Mentions:

  • Jarrett Allen ($8,000 DK / $8,000 FD)
  • Myles Turner ($6,900 DK / $7,400 FD)
