Welcome to a special holiday edition of the Gopher Ball & Gas article. Today is Juneteenth and a special day in our nation’s story. But with that being said, we’re off and running today to try and win some money. We had a negative day last Friday which brought our season total down to +18 units.

After research and modeling, my favorite prop bets for today’s slate are below.

BATTER PROPS

CHRIS MOREL over 0.5 RBI’s (+165 DK)

Morel has 13 RBI’s over his past 8 games. And he’s hitting 0.429 over the past week. The Cubs offense is starting to come back alive and tonight they face a rookie who made his first career start against them last week in Chicago. So they have some familiarity and I look for their offense to take advantage of that tonight.

CHRISTIAN YELICH over 1.5 h+r+r (-120 DK)

The Brewers OF has a 67.7% hard hit rate over the past 2 weeks. And we’re starting to see that payoff as he is 10 for his last 22 at the plate. Another nugget to add is that he’s gone over this prop in 5 of his last 6 games.

BRIAN REYNOLDS over 1.5 bases (+100 DK)

Reynolds has cooled off after his hot April. But he finally broke out of his shell yesterday by hitting his first home run since May 26th (and first of June). He also had an extra base hit in Saturday’s game so that makes it 2 for 2 on this prop in his past 2 games. Add to that he’s batting 0.381 with 3 extra base hits in his career off Cubs starter Drew Smyly.

TOMMY EDMAN over 0.5 SB’s (+195 DK)

Edman has 3 stolen bases in the last week and leads the Cardinals with 12 on the season. The Nationals SP, Josiah Gray, has allowed 8 stolen bases which is tied for 16th in the league. If there’s an opportunity for Edman to steal, he has a great opportunity as Nats catcher Keibert Ruiz has thrown out only 11 of 58 attempted base stealers (16%).

PITCHER PROPS

MICHAEL WACHA over 4.5 K’s (-135 DK)

The Padres SP has gone over this number in 3 straight starts. And the Giants have the 4th highest K rate in the MLB this season.

ANDREW HEANEY over 5.5 K’s (-110 BET365)

The White Sox are striking out at a 29.5% clip over the past 8 days. Heaney is carrying a solid 24.5% K rate and 9.8 K/9 ratios this year.

GAME BETS

DIAMONDBACKS ML +110

The D’backs went 2-1 against the Brewers in a series back in April. The only game they lost was a game that Corbin Burnes pitched for Milwaukee. But I think the D’backs will respond and get revenge tonight for several reasons. First is, the Brewers are just 7-8 in their last 15 games against teams over 0.500. The other reason is, the Diamondbacks are the 3rd best team versus the fastball. If they can identify Burnes’ cutter and attack the fastball they should have opportunities to score tonight. And Merrill Kelly is in the top 15 in ERA in the MLB with a 3.05 mark so that helps our cause here.
