10/8 College Football DraftKings and FanDuel DFS

It is time to head back to college and enjoy a great day of College Football.

Welcome to Week 6 of the College Football season! We have hit the point in the year where just about every game is a conference matchup. With teams from the same conferences meeting, we get the pleasure of watching new chapters in rivalries, and this week we get the famous Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma.

Saturday 10/8 CFB

10/8 CFB Top Plays

Quarterbacks

DraftKings Quarterbacks

Michael Penix Jr – Washington – $8,500 – The transfer from Indiana has had a great start to his career in the Pacific Northwest with Washington. Penix Jr has been one of the better QBs this season in DFS. His 30-point average on DraftKings ranks 5th among the QBs on the main slate. This weekend the Huskies are looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, which came against fellow Pac-12 school, UCLA. The matchup against Arizona State looks like an excellent spot for them to return to their winning ways, as last week, ASU gave up almost 400 total yards to USC’s Caleb Williams. While it is difficult to expect Penix Jr to match the Heisman favorite, this past weekend showed that ASU’s defense is weak against the pass, which bodes well for Penix Jr as he comes into this week averaging 346.6 passing yards a game.

Spencer Sanders – Oklahoma- $8,000 – For my 2nd QB of the week, I am returning to one of my favorite QBs last week, Spencer Sanders. Last week Sanders threw for under 200 yards for the first time this season but made up for his lack of passing with 75 rushing yards. This Saturday should be able to show off his passing skills when his Cowboys host a weak Texas Tech defense. Last week Texas Tech could not stop Adrian Martinez and Kansas State, and while I don’t think Sanders has the same rushing abilities as Martinez, Sanders should still be able to move the ball down the field with his arm or legs.

FanDuel Quarterbacks

Caleb Williams – USC – $10,700 – This will be one of the first times we get to use Caleb Williams and USC on the main slate. The Heisman hopeful has looked impressive all season outside of the first three quarters against Oregon State. His 27.1 points on FanDuel ranks 5th among the QBSs on the slate. Over the past three weeks, Washington State has given up an average of 314 yards to opposing QBs. The 3 QBs that WSU has faced over that stretch are not at the level of Caleb Williams, with the closes being Bo Nix, who had 458 total yards the week he faced this defense.

Jaren Hall – BYU- $9,200 – Hall has been having a consistently solid year despite his lack of weapons due to injury. He is coming into the showdown in Las Vegas against Notre Dame, averaging 24.44 points on FanDuel. This week Hall should be getting back a healthy Gunner Romney, who should help a lot in the passing game. This season, the Notre Dame pass defense has been middle of the pack, and while I don’t expect Hall to torch them, he should be able to find holes in the defense to put up a good score on FanDuel.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Jalon Daniels – Kansas- $6,900 “low-end”, Hendon Hooker – Tennesse – $8,100 “mid-range”, CJ Stroud- Ohio St – $9,200 “high-end”

FanDuel – Drew Pyne – Notre Dame – $7,800 “low-end”, Aidan O’Connell – Purde – $8,800 “mid-range”, Jalon Daniels – Kansas – $10,600 “high-end”

Running Backs

DraftKings Running Backs

Bijan Robinson – Texas – $9,000 – I don’t think there is a better spot to start this week’s DraftKings plays than with the number 1 priced running back. This matchup for Robinson is perfect, and he comes into this Saturday’s matchup against long-time rivals Oklahoma averaging 28.5 points on DraftKings. Over the past two weeks, Oklahoma has allowed 636 rushing yards to TCU and KSU. Last year against the Sooners, Robinson ran for 137 and scored a rushing touchdown in a loss to the 6th ranked team in the nation. Oklahoma is coming into the Red River Rivalry on a two-game losing streak this year. I expect Robinson to surpass the 20.9 DraftKings points he had last year.

Blake Corum – Michigan – $7,900  Corum had a slow start to his season because he wasn’t needed in Michigan’s first two games against weaker opponents, but over the past three weeks, he has come out hot. Corum has scored over 30 points on DraftKings twice over the past three weeks, with an average of 33.9. This feels like a spot where people may shy away from Corum because Donovan Edwards is back. Still, Corum has established himself as the top running back on the team and should continue to be used even with Edwards grabbing a few more touches.

FanDuel Running Backs

Travis Dye – USC – $8,900 – USC had a successful Transfer Portal season, we have really talked about Caleb Williams, who came over from Oklahoma, and we will get to the Pittsburgh transfer in the WR section. Still, it’s time to discuss the RB transfer from Oregon. Dye has taken over a loaded USC backfield and has proven that over the last three weeks, as he has had 20+ point games on FanDuel in each of those games. The current USC roster has too many weapons, especially between their star QB and WR, so it is difficult for defenses to stack the box against Dye, allowing him to have a 6.8 rushing average per attempt. This game will be no different; expect WSU to try to limit Williams and Jordan Addison, which will open up space for Dye.

Jahmyr Gibbs – Alabama – $8,600 – Gibbs might be one of the more popular players on the slate when people see his 35.6 performance last week, but I will still have him in most of my FanDuel lineups. Gibbs this week should see a lot of touches given the injury to last year’s Heisman winner Bryce Young. If Young starts, I don’t see a need for Alabama to rely on him heavily, considering his injury last week, so I can see Alabama turning around and handing the ball off to Gibbs a healthy amount of times. Similarly, if Young does not start and Milroe is under center, I expect Alabama to try to lessen his load and rely on the run game against a Texas A&M squad that allows over 170 rushing yards a game.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Raheim Sanders – Arkansas – $6,200 “low-end”, Evan Hull – Northwestern – $6,300 “mid-range”, Braelon Allen – Wisconsin – $8,500 “high-end”

FanDuel – Tahj Brooks – Texas Tech – $6,400 “low-end”Chris Tyree- Notre Dame – $7,100 “mid-range”, Zach Charbonnet – UCLA – $9,800 “high-end”

DraftKings Wide Receivers

Charlie Jones – Purdue – $7,000  Jones has been one of the best DFS WRs this season, averaging 31.2 points on DraftKings. Jones is coming off his worst game of the season, so hopefully, that keeps his ownership low because he is in a good spot to return to the form he showed in the first four games. Jones quickly became Aidan O’Connell’s favorite target this season as Jones currently has twice as many receptions as the 2nd most on the team and has accounted for 64% of the passing touchdowns for Purdue.

Rome Odunze – Washington – $7,200 – Over the past two weeks against UCLA and Stanford, Odunze has taken over the top WR role for the Huskies. Odunze is coming into the matchup against Arizona State off of back-to-back eight catches, 100-yard games, and a total of 3 receiving touchdowns. As I mentioned in the write-up for his QB, Odunze should find some success against the Sun Devil pass coverage. I’ll quickly mention his teammate, Jalen McMillan, $6,200, who served as the primary target over the first two games of the year. If you want salary relief, you can go down $1K from Odunze.

Pivots:

Braydon Johnson – Oklahoma St – $5,600 “low-end”, Brock Bowers – Georgia – $7,100 “mid-range”, Marvin Harrison Jr – Ohio St – $7,400 “high-end”

FanDuel Wide Receivers

Jordan Addison – USC – $9,300- Time to discuss the final member of the USC trio I like this week, Jordan Addison. Addison has quickly built a connection with USC’s QB Caleb Williams, similar to the one he had with this year’s 20th overall draft pick, Kenny Pickett. So far this year, Addison has yet to have under 10 points on FanDuel, with his worse performance, 11.7, coming against Oregon State in a game where USC looked a bit lost for most of it. Addison will be itching to get into the endzone this weekend, as last week, despite his eight catches for 105 yards, he failed to reach the endzone for the first time as a Trojan.

Emeka Egbuka – Ohio St – $10,000 – Going right to the top of the board with this spot, Egbuka is the Buckeyes leading WR through 5 games. Egbuka’s stats early on were helped by the absence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has only played two games this season. He is still listed as questionable for this Saturday, but even with his return, I don’t expect OSU to give him a full workload in his first game back, so Egbuka will continue to be the top guy this week. The Michigan State defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone, and with Egbuka’s potential, I don’t see them stopping him this week.

Pivots:

Ja’ Tavion Sanders – Texas – $5,600 “low-end”, Gunner Romney – BYU – $6,000 “mid-range”, Josh Downs – UNC – $9,900 “high-end”
