The NHL schedule continues to get a little funky. Tonight, there are 13 games to sift through, so there will be a ton of options. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!
Goalies
Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins: The B’s host the Senators tonight, and Ottawa has been having a rough go of it recently. They are struggling to score recently and this should be a nice spot for Ullmark and the Bruins.
Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers: This matchup for Igor looks really juicy tonight. The Rangers have been cruising, and Carolina likes throwing shots at the net. Igor is finally starting to get back to form, so this is a really nice upside look.
John Gibson – Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks host the Flames tonight, and this one is risky. However, the Flames have been struggling quite a bit and have even fallen out of playoff contention. Gibson has some solid recent numbers and should see a good amount of shots tonight.
Ivan Prosvetov – Arizona Coyotes: The Yotes head to Winnipeg tonight, and this is another risky pick. The Jets have not been scoring and they have been struggling to generate chances. Arizona has been surprisingly good defensively over their last five, limiting their opponents to 9.75 HDCA/60. This is an interesting upside spot.
Joel Hofer – St. Louis Blues: Hofer has kind of burst onto the scene here in the late part of the season has played extremely well. He gets a really nice matchup against the Red Wings tonight and should be able to continue to play well.
High Risk Goalie Pick – Carter Hart – Philadelphia Flyers: The Flyers host the Panthers tonight, and this one is very, very risky. The Panthers outclass the Flyers by a lot, but there are a couple of factors in play. One thing is that the Flyers have been decent at mitigating chances. Secondly, Hart has some good numbers over his last five. Lastly, the Panthers just played last night. All of that, and the shot volume should be nice, so this is a decent upside spot for Hart.
Others to Consider: Juuse Saros (NSH), Vitek Vanecek (NJD), Ilya Samsonov (TOR)
Lines to Build Around
These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).
Boston Bruins 1 – Patrice Bergeron/Jake Debrusk/Brad Marchand/Hampus Lindholm: The Bruins have a great, great matchup tonight against Ottawa, who have been terrible on defense. On top of that, their goaltending has been very poor as well. This is a very nice spot for this top line, who should see a lot of the top six for Ottawa. You can definitely consider Boston 2 as well, as that is a nice looking line.
Washington Capitals 1 – Dylan Strome/Tom Wilson/Alex Ovechkin/Rasmus Sandin: This top line gets a date with the Columbus third line in a really, really nice matchup. They should see plenty of chances, and should be able to convert them.
Vegas Golden Knights 1 – Jack Eichel/Ivan Barbashev/Jonathan Marchessault/Alex Pietrangelo: The Knights head to Vancouver tonight, and this is a very nice matchup for the top line. They should see a lot of the Miller line for most of the night and should see tons of chances.
High Risk Lines
These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).
New York Rangers 2 – Vincent Trocheck/Patrick Kane/Chris Kreider: This line is in a decent spot tonight against the Hurricanes in what should be a pretty interesting game. The Rangers have gotten HOT, and they should be able to handle the Canes tonight. This line has potential to the damage, but realistically, both top lines are in play.
Columbus Blue Jackets 2 – Boone Jenner/Jack Roslovic/Kent Johnson: As much as the Caps should win this game, they have had some rough goaltending and are giving up a surprising amount of chances. This second line for the Jackets has a pretty solid matchup against the second line for the Caps tonight. This is a very risky value play.
Montreal Canadiens 2 – Jonathan Drouin/Josh Anderson/Denis Gurianov: This line seems like it would be an easy fade, but when you dig into the numbers, they have a solid matchup against the second line for the Lightning. Vasilevskiy hasn’t been great recently, and while this is very risky, it could be a very sneaky play tonight.
Tampa Bay Lightning 3 – Steven Stamkos/Nick Paul/Ross Colton: This is a real nice upside spot against the Canadiens, and they should see a lot of the third line.
Vancouver Canucks 2 – JT Miller/Brock Boeser/Phil DiGiuseppe: This line carries some risk, but it is in a nice spot against the top line for Vegas. The lean of course is Vegas, but this is a nice contrarian play.
