The NBA slates today are a little different than normal and Yahoo’s main slate is six games but it starts at 6:00 p.m. tonight. The cash cores will come in around 15 minutes ahead of time and the slate starting earlier gives us access to the Milwaukee Bucks facing the Atlanta Hawks. The scoring is FanDuel-style so always be sure to look at the Projection Model. Ghost spends a TON of time on this, and it’s the most valuable tool for NBA DFS we have. While it’s not a one-to-one translation because of the salaries, it’s still a great place to start. Yahoo has eight positions to fill with a $200 budget, different than any other site. Guard – Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns – $32
The Suns are going to be a focus of our cash lineups tonight and we’re kicking it off with Booker, who has a 32% usage rate and 1.25 fantasy points per minute when Deandre Ayton is off the floor. The Suns center will miss tonight and this is quietly a track meet style game with a total of 227.5. San Antonio is only 18th in defensive rating this season and they are in the bottom 10 in FG% allowed from 3-point distance. The salary does not match the upside and he’s the most popular guard as of this writing.
Honorable Mention – Donovan Mitchell, Cole Anthony
Forward – Khris Middleton/Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks – $34/$56
We’ll see how the news breaks tonight but we want one of the Bucks in our lineups. Jrue Holiday remains out for Milwaukee and when he’s off the floor, Giannis is at a 37% usage and 1.74 points per minute while Middleton is at 1.18 points per minute and a 30.2% usage rate. The 231.5 total is the highest of the day and the Atlanta Hawks are down to 28th in defensive rating. The spread is only five points so that’s not a concern and there aren’t many safer options than these two players. The value from the Suns really helps make everything come together and you could potentially play up to three of them in the same cash lineup, pending other news.
Honorable Mention – Keldon Johnson, Mikal Bridges
Center – JaVale McGee, Phoenix Suns – $13
We mentioned that Ayton will be out tonight and that means McGee is the chalkiest option on the slate, and it is a great spot. He is one of the most efficient players as the roll man in the pick-and-roll and averages 1.49 points per possession. That’s not good news for the Spurs because they allow the third-most points per game defending the roll man, and McGee sits at 1.34 fantasy points per minute without Ayton on the floor. With the salary involved, there is no discussion about playing him in cash settings tonight.
