8/29 MLB DFS Winner: Kolten Wong
As Wes Anderson chose him on our Premium Gold Cheatsheet as a value second baseman, Kolten Wong was a dominant player in an otherwise dormant Cardinals lineup. Wong went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and RBI against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Outlook for the rest of the season: Kolten Wong has been one of the best hitters in the second half of the season. Since the All-Star break, Wong is slashing .363/ .441/ .500 at the top of the order. Without him, the Cardinals are struggling to make a playoff spot and there are no signs of him slowing down during the final five weeks of the season.
8/29 MLB DFS Winner: Matt Joyce
As you can see from the cheatsheet, both Jason and Wes chose a player that had a good game in a value slot with Matt Joyce. In an interleague matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays, he went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
Outlook for the rest of the season: As a relative bench player, Joyce has accumulated just 142 at-bats this season. He isn’t going to be the difference maker in many games, but with this young Atlanta team battling for the N.L. East and second-best record in the N.L., Joyce will be a nice veteran bat that will help the young guys in the clubhouse.
8/29 MLB DFS Winner: Anthony DeSclafani
This screenshot is from the Pitcher Projection Model, available for all premium members to access. This screenshot is the top 10 FanDuel projection points for pitchers on the slate. DeSclafani was brilliant against the Miami Marlins, as he went seven shutout innings and allowed just two hits and a walk while racking up eight strikeouts as well.
Outlook for the rest of the season: The rest of this season is a “show me what you got” situation for DeSclafani. He has shown he could be a solid middle-of-the-rotation starter and could help the Cincinnati Reds next season (and they have a good staff already there).
8/29 MLB DFS Winner: Philadelphia Phillies Offense
The Philadelphia Phillies are battling the Pittsburgh Pirates and need to beat up on them as they are at two separate levels right now. The Phillies rattled off 12 runs on 17 hits with three walks. Seven of their eight position players that started the game recorded multiple hits and the other recorded a single hit as well.
Outlook for the rest of the season: Sitting just two games back from the second Wild Card spot, the Phillies need their offense to carry them as their pitching staff hasn’t been too good this season. With a month left in the season, expect the Phillies to start hitting like this more regularly and get into the playoffs.
