3/14 LIGA MX Four Game Slate

Puebla (+340) at Atletico San Luis (-107) – Over 2.5 Goals (– 130)

Puebla

You could take a tournament stab on Osvaldo Martinez or Christian Tabo but there are better options. I would only reserve something like that for a larger field tournament. Puebla is one of three hefty road underdogs and it is better to avoid these teams outside of using a really cheap wing defender or something if we really need the value.

Atletico San Luis

Atletico San Luis is a home favorite and wing defender Luis Reyes is the only defender on the slate who resembles the type of attacking defender we often see in the Premier League. He has averaged 13.8 DraftKings points this season and although he costs $6,600 looks head and shoulders above the other options. If this Diego Nava starts as a defender on the opposite wing I would have interest for $3,900. He is currently not projected to start but this game is the first on the slate so that lineup will be available before main lock.

Pumas UNAM (+323) at Leon (-117) – Over 3 Goals (-110)

Pumas

Pass. There’s just nothing sticking out here for this road underdog.

Leon

I like other pieces better but Leon is a favorite in a high total game, so there is no ignoring them. The top options in Angel Mena, Luis Montes, Jean Meneses and Armando Leon are all expensive and projected to start. With the production potentially spread out and this game nearly impossible to stack, I think it is tournament only for me. You could pick out a one off or try some sort of crazy tournament stack with considerable sacrifices in other positions. As a result of some of the difficulties mentioned above, I think this game will likely go under owned considering Leon has the highest total on the board.

Juarez (+535) at Tigres (-170) – Under 2.5 Goals (-115)

Juarez

This team is a +535 road underdog, easily the biggest on the slate. Olivera for $4,300 as a wing defender is okay, but there is little else of interest.

Tigres

Andre Pierre Gignac is a goal scoring beast. He has put up some monster games and with his team favored at home should be in a good spot to score here and help them to the W. Tigres is the biggest favorite on the slate and Juarez has the lowest total, so if paying up the Tigres goalie makes sense.

We also get the best value on this slate from Tigres. Forward Luis Quinones ($9,600) has been out injured for the last two weeks and Raul de Jesus Fulgencio ($3,700) has filled in for him. Fulgencio has put up 11.8 and 11.2 DraftKings points during that span. If he starts again as currently projected, you are getting an $8,500 player for only $3,700, just lock that in every line and don’t think twice. Hopefully, Quinones remains out one more week and we don’t have to swap him out as his inclusion makes our lineups a lot stronger.

Monterrey (+184) at Chivas/Guadalajara (+165) – Over 2.5 Goals (-120)

Monterrey

Miguel Layun is one of my favorite plays on the slate. He only has one goal in nine appearances this season. However, over his last six games he has hit 21.3, 17.4, 18.9, 14.4, 5.2, and 18.6 DraftKings points. That’s a hit rate of 5/6, making him an extremely safe option. He will be on the road but at $7,700 is underpriced and this is a pick em game to begin with. Defender John Medina gives us some good value at $4,500 with a bunch of double digit DraftKings games in his log. I see drastic differences in his numbers despite playing 90 minutes in all games so we will have to see where he lines up. If he isn’t on the outside, downgrade him.

Chivas

It looks like Uriel Antuna has been starting regularly. He is a player that I am already familiar with, as the former LAFC player has routinely helped the Mexican National Team bash the US Men’s Team across his young career, most recently in a rematch of this past year’s Gold Cup. He is forward eligible so fills a spot there, only costs $7,100 and has hit double digit DraftKings points in three straight.

Top Seven Plays

  1. Miguel Layun – Monterey – $7,700 “CORE PLAY”
  2. Raul de Jesus Fulgencio – Tigres – $3,700 “CORE PLAY”
  3. Andre-Pierre Gignac – Tigres – $10,400
  4. Uriel Antuna – Guadalajara – $7,100
  5. Luis Reyes – Atletico San Luis – $6,600
  6. Nahuel Guzman – Tigres – $5,600
  7. John Medina – Monterey – $4,500
