10/22 College Football DraftKings and FanDuel DFS

It is time to head back to college and enjoy a great day of College Football.

Welcome to Week 8 of the College Football season! We have hit the point in the year where just about every game is a conference matchup. With teams from the same conferences meeting, we get the pleasure of watching some of the best teams in the nation going at it, and this week we get 3 great matchups. The first is in Clemson where the 5th-ranked Clemson Tigers host a surprising 14th-ranked Syracuse Orange. Following the Clemson game, we get 10th-ranked Oregon hosting 9th-ranked UCLA as well as 11th-ranked Oklahoma State hosting 20th-ranked Texas.

10/22 CFB Top Plays

Quarterbacks

DraftKings Quarterbacks

Dorian Thompson-Robinson – UCLA- $7,900 – Everything is finally seeming to click for DTR who is leading UCLA to its best start since 2005. DTR has been able to find success both through the air and on the ground. DTR has thrown for over 1500 yards as well as ran for another 265 to go with his 19 total touchdowns and only 2 turnovers. This week DTR leads UCLA into a high-profile match against Oregon, and I like his chances to get UCLA to 7-0. Oregon sits as the 19th worst-ranked pass defense allowing 275.3 a game. This should be a close matchup but I think DTR’s arm will be the difference against the struggling Duck defense.

DJ Uiagalelei – Clemson- $7,400 – Uiagalelei is another QB who has found his form this season after struggling last year. Clemson has played four ACC games this season and in those games, Uiagalelei has averaged 33 DraftKings points. On paper, this matchup looks to be a tough test as Syracuse’s pass defense is ranked 12th in the nation, but that might be more to do with their opponents so far this season. The best QB that the Orange has faced was Aidan O’Connell who threw for over 400 yards in that meeting. Uiagalelei should find similar success this week at home.

Michael Pratt – Tulane – $6,300 – Similar to last week with Ohio vs WMU, this week we get a game that I didn’t expect to be on the main slate. I’m glad they did because Pratt and Tulane are in a good spot this week hosting Memphis. The Memphis defense has allowed over 300 passing yards in three of the last four games and they currently sit almost dead last in passing yards allowed per game at 301.4. Pratt should be able to tear apart the Memphis defense with his arm. In addition, Pratt can also produce with his legs when needed, so far he has 277 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

FanDuel Quarterbacks

Aidan O’Connell – Purdue – $8,200 – O’Connell seems to have found his game again last week after struggling in the previous two against Maryland and Minnesota. In four of the five appearances, O’Connell has had he has thrown for over 300 yards. This week O’Connell goes against a Wisconsin team that allows just over 215 yards a game. This matchup will be challenging, but O’Connell has the weapons, even if Jones is out, to air it out and pick apart the Wisconsin secondary.

Max Duggan – TCU- $10,800 – Duggan has easily been one of the best DFS QBs this season and he has proved that in his last three games. He has managed to score 31.14, 34.82, and 47.68 in his last three and should continue that this week. Duggan’s dual-threat ability makes him difficult to stop as every opponent has seen. Kansas State will present some issues given they are Duggan’s toughest test in the passing game but that’s where his legs will come into play. Over the past three Duggan’s lowest rushing day was two weeks ago against Kansas where he still ran for 55 and a touchdown.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Garrett Shrader – Syracuse- $6,100 “low-end”, Tanner Mordecai – SMU – $7,600 “mid-range”, C.J Stroud- Ohio St – $9,200 “high-end”

FanDuel – JT Daniels – West Virginia – $7,600 “low-end”, Will Rogers – Mississippi State – $9,000 “mid-range”, Spencer Sanders – Oklahoma State – $11,200 “high-end”

Running Backs

DraftKings Running Backs

Quinshon Judkins/Zach Evans – Ole Miss – $6,700/$6,400 – I’m including both Ole Miss running backs this week because I think they both have a chance to break out similarly to what they did last week against Auburn. Evans and Judkins are the best RB combo in the nation at the moment, with the only two who can challenge their title being Michigan’s duo who are not on the slate this week. This week the duo takes on LSU who currently ranks 69th in rush defense which is middle of the pack. Both Evans and Judkins should be able to take advantage of the 4.21 yards per attempt average that LSU gives up. This weekend I’ll give the slight edge to Judkins but either option works this week.

Charles McClelland – Cincinnati – $6,100  I love McClelland this week and I am glad DraftKings decided to include this Cincinnati vs SMU game on this slate. SMU ranks as the 9th worse rush defense in the nation, allowing 209 a game. This is the perfect moment for McClelland to run into SMU as well, he is coming off of his best performance of the season last week against USF where he racked up 179 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

FanDuel Running Backs

Charles McClelland – Cincinnati – $8,500  I know I included him in the DraftKings write-up, but he is probably my favorite play on either slate. The SMU rush defense is terrible and I would be shocked if he doesn’t go over 120 yards and score.

Marshawn Lloyd – South Carolina – $8,000 – Speaking of terrible run defense, South Carolina and Lloyd are in a great spot against Texas A&M. The Aggies’ run defense is allowing 189.5 yards a game which has them ranked as the 17th worst in CFB. Over the past three weeks, Lloyd has run for 359 yards and five touchdowns while scoring; 21.1, 22.6, and 34.9 on FanDuel. Another 20+ performance is likely for Lloyd this week as I can see South Carolina relying on the run game to keep up with Texas A&M.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Tyjae Spears – Tulane – $5,700 “low-end”, Sean Tucker – Syracuse – $6,900 “mid-range”, Bijan Robinson – Texas – $9,400 “high-end”

FanDuel – Devin Neal – Kansas – $6,700 “low-end”Casey Filkins- Stanford – $8,200 “mid-range”, Travis Dye – USC – $9,200 “high-end”

DraftKings Wide Receivers

Emeka Egbuka – Ohio State – $6,900  This may be a surprise including Egbuka this week considering they are taking on one of the better defenses in the nation, but I think Egbuka still puts up good numbers this week. Egbuka has scored 20+ points on DraftKings in all but one game including scoring 30+ in three of the last four. I do see Iowa being able to slow down the Ohio State offense early on, but I can’t see them preventing the 15th-best passing team from going off. Once OSU starts clicking on Saturday, Egbuka should see the ball often and should be able to find the endzone at least once if not more on Saturday.

Jake Bobo – UCLA – $6,800 – Bobo has had a solid start this season at UCLA after transferring from Duke. He leads the Bruins in receiving yards and touchdowns and sits four catches behind Kazmier Allen for the team lead in receptions. The Oregon pass defense is the perfect opponent for a player of Bobo’s skill set who should take advantage of the big passing plays that Oregon allows.

Pivots:

Beaux Collins – Clemson – $5,200 “low-end”, Troy Franklin – Oregon – $7,000 “mid-range”, Rashee Rice – SMU – $7,900 “high-end”

FanDuel Wide Receivers

Quentin Johnston – TCU – $9,000- Johnston is finally showing the skills that made analysis have him as a 1st round talent. After having games of 3.7, 4.4, and 6.3 in his first games Johnston has scored 33.6 and 28 in his last two. This week TCU takes on a good KSU pass defense that will give them some trouble, but I don’t think KSU is good enough to stop Johnston if he is fully back to form. Fully expect Johnston to have another 20+ performance this weekend.

Isaiah Winstead – ECU – $8,800 – Winstead is a WR who doesn’t get talked about enough and I think this week he will have another good game. Over the past four games, Winstead has had an average of 20.4 on FanDuel with a high of 25.9 and a low of 13.5. I think the field may not be too high on Winstead this week since UCF ranks 44th in pass defense and ECU isn’t well known. Hopefully, that keeps his ownership down and we can get a WR1 at a low percentage.

Pivots:

Ja’Tavion Sanders/Payne Durham – Texas/Purdue – $5,700/$5,800 “low-end”, Gavin Holmes – Baylor – $7,900 “mid-range”, Oronde Gadsden ll – Syracuse – $8,400 “high-end”
