XFL DFS DRAFTKINGS Week 4

The offense picked up for the most part in Week 3 as we saw the two highest scoring games of the year last weekend.  We’re also seeing teams make permanent switches at QB while others are still trying to find their long term solution.  Week 4 has matchups of two 3-0 teams at two 0-3 teams which could make for potential offensive outbursts.  Let’s look at what I’m focusing on this week.

HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS -9 @ ORLANDO GUARDIANS (Saturday 7pm on FX/ESPN+)

Quarterback:

BRANDON SILVERS (SEATTLE) $9700:  Silvers has multiple passing TD’s in all 3 games this season.  And he already played Orlando this season where back in Week 1 he carved them up for 272 yards and 2 TD’s.  The Roughnecks play at the fastest pace and lead the league in scoring.  He’s at the top of the list every week but more importantly this week based on matchup.

PAXTON LYNCH (LAS VEGAS) $8400:  Lynch threw for a season high 212 yards last week and he led the team in rushing with 43 yards.  But he didn’t throw a TD and he’s facing one of the best defenses in the league this week.  There’s even news of Quinton Flowers possibly getting a look.  So I’m off the Orlando QB position in all formats. 

Running Back:

MAX BORGHI (HOUSTON) $9300:  Borghi has been the most consistent RB all year in the XFL as he’s produced 3 double digit fantasy scores to date.  However, he is listed as questionable as he got dinged up last week.  Considering they go to Seattle for a Thursday night date next week, I foresee a low usage this week for Borghi and will fade him.

BRYCEN ALLYENE (HOUSTON) $3400:  This speedster opened eyes last week against San Antonio by rushing for 25 yards and gaining 40 yards receiving.  I like him a lot this week and will play him over Borghi in most of my lineups.

JAH-MAINE MARTIN (ORLANDO) $7200:  Martin hasn’t done much of anything this year with his high output being 6.6 fantasy points.  He went for just 9 rushing yards last week.  The issue is more with Orlando’s offensive line which is never a good recipe for running success.

Wide Receiver/TE:

CODY LATIMER (ORLANDO) $5600:  Draftkings has finally caught up to Latimer.  But he’s still underpriced for the production he’s had this year.  Latimer averages 14.5 fantasy points per game and has at least 5 receptions in each game this year.  Play him with confidence.

DEONTAY BURNETT (HOUSTON) $9300:  Burnett had his best game of the season against Orlando in Week 1 with 8 catches for 90 yards and a TD.  He’s had only 3 receptions in his past 2 games.  So seeing the Guardians will be a friendly sight and I believe Burnett will be in line for a productive game.

JONTRE KIRKLAND (HOUSTON) $8900:  As good as Burnett can be, I still like Kirkland better (as we recommended last week).  He’s averaging 18.5 fantasy points per game and he’s 3^rd in the XFL in yards (204) and 1^st in receiving TD’s (3).

SAN ANTONIO BRAHMAS @ SEATTLE SEADRAGONS -4 (Saturday 10pm on ESPN)

Quarterback:

JACK COAN (SAN ANTONIO) $8200:  Coan is 4^th in the league in TD’s and yards.  But he’s 9^th in yards per attempt which is the big issue with the San Antonio offense.  They play very conservative and are last in passing plays for 20+ yards (2) and 40+ yards (0).  Well this is the week they can try to open it up as Seattle has the least sacks in the league and has allowed over 20 points in each game this year (68 total points allowed).  I like Coan a lot this week and have him in my QB player pool. 

BEN DINUCCI (SEATTLE) $10,800:  DiNucci gives us excitement each and every week.  Even though he may lose games by himself.  But that doesn’t matter for DFS.  What does is the fact that he averages close to 300 yards per game passing and is tied for the league lead in passing TD’s with 7.  Silvers threw for 275+ versus this San Antonio team and I believe DiNucci will stay hot again against a Brahmas team that has allowed 7 passing TD’s this season.

Running Back:

KALEN BALLAGE (SAN ANTONIO) $8100:  Ballage leads the league in attempts but is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry and has yet to find the endzone.  The rushing game in the XFL has been underwhelming so it’s worth a play on Ballage as you know he’ll get 10+ touches.  We just need a TD to have him pay dividends at this price.

MORGAN ELLISON (SEATTLE) $6900:  The Seattle RB paid off last week as he ran for over 100 yards in his first start.  However, he’s been limited in practice all week.  If he’s a go, he is worth the play especially because of all the weapons on this offense.  If not, look for TJ Hammonds ($3300) to be a good value play in Ellison’s place.

Wide Receiver/TE:

JAHCOUR PEARSON (SEATTLE) $10,300:  You know the drill, stack Seattle’s pass game.  And that starts with Pearson at WR.  He leads the league in yards and receptions and will be a big part of the offense once again tonight.

BLAKE JACKSON (SEATTLE) $7500:  Jackson is 2^nd on the team in receptions with 18.  He’s averaged 12 fantasy points per week.  It will be difficult to stack DiNucci, Gordon and Pearson so instead try Jackson out in place of either Gordon or Pearson. 

JALEN TOLLIVER (SAN ANTONIO) $6200:  Tolliver missed Week 3 with a groin injury but looks set to return to action this week.  That would be a good thing for San Antonio has he’s averaged 10 points per game when healthy.  As mentioned before, Seattle doesn’t create pressure on the QB and has allowed over 22 points per game.  Tolliver should be in line for a good workload tonight.

ALIZE MACK (SAN ANTONIO) $3200:  VALUE ALERT.  San Antonio’s tight end leads the team in receptions with 10.  And he’s averaging 8.1 fantasy points per game.  For only $3200, the floor is very low and ceiling is high based as we project a high scoring game in Seattle this week.

ARLINGTON RENEGADES @ ST LOUIS BATTLE HAWKS -4 (Sunday 4pm on ESPN/ESPN+)

Quarterback:

AJ MCCARRON (ST LOUIS) $10,700:  McCarron has been one of the standouts in the XFL as he’s 3^rd in the league in passing yards and tied for 1^st in TD’s with 7.  He’s been able to move the ball efficiently and is finally playing a home game for the first time this season.  Arlington has a good D but the dome will be rocking in STL and I think the Battlehawks will find success in the air with the McCarron and Butler combo.

KYLE SLOTER (ARLINGTON) $7900:  I’m out on Sloter this week.  In his first start against the worst team in the XFL, it took 59 minutes for Arlington to take the lead.  And they managed just 1 offensive TD and 10 points.  No thanks.

Running Back:

DEVEON SMITH (ARLINGTON) $7300:  De’Veon Smith has the 2^nd most rushing attempts in the XFL but averages just 2.7 yards per carry.  Good thing is he has 7 receptions in 3 games.  So he’s been steady by averaging 8.3 points per game.  I see value in Smith but think there are better options this week. 

BRIAN HILL (ST LOUIS) $6600:  This is my favorite RB play of the weekend.  Hill returned to action last week and had 81 total yards and 1 touchdown.  He is averaging 14.6 fantasy points per week and has showed toughness in his running.  I like St Louis to use him early and often, even in the passing game, making his value and ceiling very high this week.

Wide Receiver/TE:

BEN CANNELLA (ARLINGTON) $7100:  Cannella is the workhorse that keeps Arlington’s offense from being completely the worst.  He’s third in the league in receptions and will continue to be the primary target no matter who is at QB for the Renegades. 

HAKEEN BUTLER (ST LOUIS) $8300:  Butler has scored a touchdown in every game this season.  He’s amassed 198 yards receiving which is good for 4^th in the league.  The former Iowa State standout is clearly McCarron’s favorite target and should be considered in any STL stacks this weekend (McCarron-Hill-Butler). AUSTIN PROEHL (ST LOUIS) $6000:  This feel like too high a salary for Proehl as he’s averaging just 9.8 yards per catch.  But he does see a significant amount of targets and could surprise this week based on the game situation.

VEGAS VIPERS @ DC DEFENDERS -6 (Sunday 8pm on ESPN/ESPN+)

Quarterback:

BRETT HUNDLEY (VEGAS) $10,000:  Hundley impressed last week in his first start of the season.  He has the arm and the legs to produce big numbers.  And DC allowed 28 points and 262 yards passing last week.  So I see potential for Hundley to shine again.

JORDAN TA’AMU (DC) $9200:  Ta’Amu had a big week in Week 3 as he posted 23 DFS fantasy points.  And if we look back to this matchup in Week 2, Ta’Amu ran for 68 yards against the Vipers in Vegas.  DC will concentrate on the ground game this week and Ta’Amu will be a part of that.  But I don’t see him putting up ~200 yards in the air and for that reason will likely pass on the DC QB this week.

Running Back:

ROD SMITH (VEGAS) $6300:  Vegas has one of the worst rushing offenses in the league and therefore I’m passing on all RB’s on the Vipers.  Smith has just 81 yards rushing in 3 games and has yet to score more than 7 points in a game. 

ABRAM SMITH (DC) $8400:  Smith has averaged 12.2 DFS points the past 2 weeks but is still struggling to find big chunks in the running game.  But he added 3 catches last week which helped push his score into double digits.  He has the 3^rd most carries and 2^nd most rushing yards in the league which provides value.  Plus, Vegas struggles stopping the run as they allowed Morgan Ellison to rush for over 100 yards last week.  Play Smith with confidence.

RYQUEL ARMSTEAD (DC) $4300:  Armstead rushed the ball 11 times last week and seemed like a more dynamic rusher than Smith.  But he also lost 2 fumbles which is concerning.  However, DC stuck with him and we could see 11+ carries this week which makes his value extremely high at this price tag.

Wide Receiver/TE:

JEFF BADET (VEGAS) $9700:  Badet is 5^th in the XFL in receiving yards and averages 15.1 yards per catch.  And that includes a game in the pouring rain where he had only 2 catches for 6 yards.  Badet is going to be the biggest benefactor of Hundley starting and I see him putting up a huge game this week.  Badet is my favorite WR this week.

LUCKY JACKSON (DC) $3000:  I don’t love DC’s passing game this week but if I had to lean towards rostering one WR it would be Jackson. He leads the league in targets, receptions and yards.  And he’s been able to haul in multiple 2 point conversions.  He’s got a high floor but his ceiling is limited in DC’s passing game.
