The NHL season may be on hold, but Phil “Cash with Flash” Naessens and Zak from Puck Picks are still talking hockey. Join them as they discuss handicapping tips, playoff predictions and possible NHL Futures picks for this season.

What is your first step in the NHL handicapping process?

ZAK Puck Picks: My first step in the NHL handicapping process is to take a look at the upcoming games from a neutral site, without showing any betting lines. From the slate before knowing any information, I like to write down the teams that my gut says will win before looking at any of the stats. From that point, I like to look at individual team histories in their last 10 games and record against each other in the last 2-3 seasons, as any further than that I feel are inaccurate results as teams in the NHL seem to vary quite a bit. From this point I have a pretty good idea of who are going to be the picks of the night however like sharpening a knife, it’s the finer grist stones that really get the edge sharp. I’ll save those nuggets for another post!

Cash with Flash: The very first thing that I do is head to Vegas Insider and look at the NHL money lines. What I am looking for are favorites at either -150 or below or underdogs of +150 and below and I usually discard any team that isn’t. It’s not that I wouldn’t pick a favorite between -160 and -195, because I would but my initial move is to look for value first.

What NHL team or situations have you looked to exploit this season?

Zak’s Puck Picks: I am a huge Devils fan, which means that this losing season has been great for me to pick against! They did. have a good stretch before the stoppage and I was on that too. Detroit has been a great team to me as well in the puck line -1.5 and even in the +1.5 the very few times, I have picked that. Jimmy Howard was an easy target for Detroit those nights.

Cash with Flash: I’m a big fan of targeting the Red Wings and especially on the road because a 4-29 road record in the NHL is atrocious. The Devils at home were another team that I love targeting and the Buffalo Sabres on the road were profitable this season. The San Jose Sharks both home and away usually provided good value as well. The Ottawa Senators on the road were another team I liked to pick on a bit because they were/are a bad road team.

When the NHL returns, they will likely begin with the playoffs. Of the 16 teams, which teams or series’ will you look to exploit?

Zak’s Puck Picks: This question just got more complex as there are talks of a different NHL playoff format due to ending the season early. We will look at what would happen if the playoffs started in the normal sense before we get into the speculation, however.

The matchups in the east would look thusly:

The NHL regular season may not have gone the way you could imagine by the status of these matchups.

Eastern Conference

1A) Boston Bruins vs WC2) Columbus Blue Jackets

Boston went zero wins and two losses versus Columbus in their season series. With the break and chances for Columbus’s goal scorers to return from this time off, I want nothing to do with this series given its history this year. Columbus was one of three teams that handed the Bruins a home loss. Stay away!

1M) Washington Capitals vs WC1) Carolina Hurricanes

Washington and the Carolina Hurricanes tied their season series aside from an extra point that Wishing got for taking their three to two losses to overtime. Both of these teams have had issues in their defensive zone this last month or so. With Carolina getting their starting puck stopper back in Petr Mrazek I tend to lean to Carolina on the defensive side. The offense, however, is all Washington. Ranked second in the league in goals per game. Carolina is surprisingly better on the power play ranking eighth compared to Washington at thirteenth in powerplay goals per game. I would give a slight edge overall to Carolina, but not confidently. Braden Holtby seems to go to another level come playoff time.

2A) Tampa Bay Lightning vs A3) Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto beat Tampa Bay two out of the three matchups this season, however, in those games, the Lightning outscored the Leafs eleven to nine. Puck slapper Steven Stamkos should be back for this series. Coming down to defense and goaltending I prefer the Lightning in this matchup, therefore saving the Leafs another matchup with Boston in Round 2.

2M) Philadelphia Flyers vs M3) Pittsburgh Penguins

Philadelphia Flyers are losing their season series to the Pittsburgh Penguins two games to one being outscored eleven to seven. Pittsburgh has sustained a lot of man-games lost due to injury to significant pieces and it does not appear they will have any returning for the playoffs due to the severity of the injuries. The Flyers rank seventh in the league in both goals per game as.well as goals against per game. Impressively they are allowing the least amount of shots in the league on a game by game basis. Pittsburgh ranks tenth in goals per game and twelfth in goals against per game. Both Penguins puck stoppers were having issues in that department before the stoppage. I lean against the season series numbers here and feel confident that the depth of the Flyers’ top three lines would.be enough to send the Penguins sliding on their bellies back to the iceberg.

Western Conference

P1) Vegas Golden Knights vs WC2)Winnipeg Jets

Vegas has been a disappointment against the Jets this season losing both games by a total score of eight to three. However, the Knights are not the top-ranked team in the West without reason. Shoring up their puck stopping adding Robin Lehner at the deadline, pairing him with a former cup winner in Marc-Andre Fleury is a deadly tandem. Vegas also got better and healthier via trade and getting healthier on the back end. The addition of Alec Martinez and the emergence of Shea Theodore really has Vegas in a good place. Winnipeg has battled with issues on their blue line all season, however many of the issues have been swallowed up by Vezina candidate Connor Hellebuyck (slight speculation here as nothing official, but the guy has been unreal!) I just don’t see this as being sustainable in a seven-game series against Vegas.

C1) St. Louis Blues vs WC1)Nashville Predators

In some miraculous twist of fate, the Nashville Predators have the defending Stanley Cup Champions number this season beating them in all four games played. The way Jussi Saros has played as of late, I could see this trend continuing and Nashville giving St. Louis a good run for their money. However, I can’t count out the defending Stanley Cup Champions that easily. St Louis ranked fourteenth in goals per game and third overall in powerplay goals per game, as well as fifth in fewest goals allowed per game. Nashville was sixteenth in goals per game and twentieth in goals allowed per game, with the twenty-fifth power-play goals per game. I believe that the St. Louis Blues would win this series, but it would be a tight battle. Too tight for me to put money on.

P2) Edmonton Oilers vs P3) Calgary Flames

I will be honest, this Flames vs Oilers series is too close to my heart to judge fairly. As a handicapper, I will give it my all. This series is why I am begging for the NHL to come back. A playoff battle of Alberta with two teams that do not like each other at all. The best rivalry in sports in my humble opinion. The flames hold the edge in the season series with a three and one record. The Flames are twentieth in goals per game and sixteenth on goals against with the nineteenth ranked powerplay goals per game. Edmonton is ranked fourteenth in goals per game and fifteenth in goals against per game but first in powerplay goals per game and power-play percentage. The numbers have the edge to the Oilers, however, with Travis Harmonic and Noah Hanifin currently listed as day today, it would give the Flames their second defensive pairing back and ridiculous depth on the blue line. I think the Flames will come out on top. Call me a homer that’s fine. That game’s six goals in 2004 were on the net. Flames were 2004 Stanley Cup Champions!

V2) Colorado Avalanche vs C3) Dallas Stars

Colorado Avalanche should be darn close to fully healthy whenever we surpass the COVID-19 scare. The Stars beat Colorado in four games this season. Dallas puck stoppers became quite suspect before the stoppage. Dallas lost seven of their last ten games, including their last six in a row. Goal scoring has been an issue for the Stars all season ranking twenty-sixth in the league, five from the bottom. Their goaltending and defense really kept them alive ranking second in the league in goals against per game as well in save percentage. I don’t know what kind of momentum will carry over if any, after the long break but hopes are for Stars fans that their goaltending returns to midseason form rather than last season. Colorado had much better numbers in goal scoring per game ranking fourth and not too bad stopping pucks either ranking sixth in goals against per game. Hopefully returning would be puck stopper Philipp Grubauer, heart trophy candidate (again speculation, but not really) Nathan McKinnon and winger Mikko Rantanen, this team would be a force in the Playoffs. I have to again put the season series aside and would put my money on the Avalanche.

Now, as this is just speculation I won’t waste everyone’s time and break down the matchups, however, there has been Reports through TSN’s Daren Dreger from Sports-Express writer Igor Eronko. that the Playoffs could be expanded to 24 teams if they end the season now, to make it fairer for the teams just on the outside looking in. Rumor is that the top two teams in each conference would get a first-round bye. From this point on the logistics get very tricky. There is talk of the seventh and eighth place team facing off in a three-game series to set who would face the three seed. That would be a neat twist. We will have to wait and see. As long as they don’t change the playoff overtime format, I’m all for it this season!

Cash with Flash Best Bets:

Since we don’t have any idea what the NHL will do, we only have the playoff format from past seasons. That being said, there is a couple of series’ that I would look to find value.

If the playoffs were, to begin with, the top eight teams playing each other, I would seriously look at the Columbus Blue Jackets-Boston Bruins series. The Blue Jackets have won both of their meetings this season and I don’t think this is a very good matchup for the Bruins and we could see an upset. The Blue Jackets have been better than expected and could end up doing some real damage in the playoffs.

The other series I like is a possible Calgary Flames-Edmonton Oilers series. Alberta would go wild to have a playoff series featuring the Battle for Alberta. The Flames have won each of their three meetings and seem to have the Oilers number. So I would look to target that series also.

If you were to make a futures bet right now, what team would you bet on and why?

Zak’s Puck Picks: I currently have money on the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup at +675 ( I made the bet right after the trade deadline after Robin Lehner and Alec Martinez came aboard). I also like the look of the Colorado Avalanche at +1000. They got beat in the second round last year by the eventual Stanley Cup Champions and I feel they have got stronger this season. It is very hard to bet against the Bruins to win the East this season but if I was going to, I could see the Philadelphia Flyers being that upset team at +500. Of we want to take some deep dives for potential winners, as anything can happen on the Stanley Cup playoffs (just look at last year with all top four teams put on the first round in the west, and an eighth-seeded team winning it all) I like Carolina from the East at +6000 (ONLY IF the playoffs are extended to 24 teams) and either the Edmonton Oilers at +2000 or the Minnesota Wild at +6000 ( again ONLY IF the playoffs are expanded to 24 teams)

I can not wait for the puck to hit the ice again, as, from everything I listen to and read currently from NHL radio on Sirius to Podcasts to Twitter and internet articles, it sounds like they are really trying to make a go of it. Excited to get into more content soon regarding more tips to look at when betting hockey. I hope you all are staying safe and taking care of each other out there! Be safe and keep your stick on the ice!

Cash with Flash: The Winnipeg Jets were the hottest potential playoff team and went into the hiatus riding a four-game winning streak. At 50-1 this could be a nice payout if they can win the Lord Stanley Cup. The Jets beat Vegas twice and that would be their first matchup, so that would be one team that I would consider.

The St Louis Blues are at 10-1 and we have to consider this team as they have the goaltending to see them through to the Finals. The Blues would have a tough matchup with the Nashville Predators and Nashville swept their season series so getting past the Predators would be difficult but I don’t think it would be impossible.

A big part of my life is my 3 kids. Each one of them holds a different attribute that I would personally use to aid me in deciding what picks to make. My twins Pork and Ribs and their little brother Bean (not their real names but very appropriate nicknames).

Pork is a doer. He is one to dive into a situation and figure it out as it unfolds, usually with great success. In terms of the puck pick, it will be a gut feeling pick and be backed with some stats to explain the feeling.

Ribs, he likes to observe the situation, take in all the information, and then make an educated decision on what his next step will be. His puck pick will be focused around teams that are on hot streaks, either against a team in a matchup or on a winning streak.

Now Bean may sound cute and innocent, but he is a wild man. Not a lot of thought goes into actions and if there is some thought, its geared towards “how can I push Dad’s buttons”. His puck pick will be a little more on the risky side. There will be reasons why I think we should go this way.

As cook by trade and hockey as a passion since I was 3 years old, let’s get some puck picks in the oven and make some dough shall we?

All odds are referenced from vegasinsider.com. I will play ALL the picks mentioned in these articles.

Puck Record for February (23-21) last night (0-2).

Blackhawks lost to Edmonton and Tampa Bay snuck out a victory over the Penguins even after losing Kucharov. The St.Lois game was postponed due to a medical issue with Jay Bouwmeester. Let’s all hope he will recover quickly.

Pork’s Puck Pick- Vancouver Canucks -139

Vancouver finally pulled off win the other night against Nashville. Chicago has been struggling as of late and after putting 6 pucks past the Nashville goaltending duo, the Canucks seem to have the upper hand in this contest. As well Chicago is coming off a game last night vs the McDavid less Oilers and lost 5-3.

Rib’s Puck Pick- Boston Bruins -195

A great original six matchup tonight. Unlike the Stanley Cup count, Boston has won the last two matchups between these two by a combined score of 11-2. The Bruins have only lost two games at home in regulation all season. The Canadians have also just lost their #1 defenseman in Shea Weber. As well as the Canadians have been playing lately, I don’t think they make that loss count go to three, especially since the Bruins have been put 11 pucks in their last two games.

Bean’s Puck Pick – Calgary Flames -136

The Flames have scorched the opposition in the last 12 goals in the last 2 road games while only having 4 pucks passed their tenders. We all know about the Kings struggles this year. I think the Flames will continue their winning road ways and take it to LA again.

There are a few other matchups I may like, however it depends who the puck stopper is. Stay tuned to the #nhl and # sports betting tabs on Discord, as well as Twitter for any changes or more potential matchups as more news unfolds!

NHL Update

The NHL Playoff picture is beginning to take shape. With about 70% of the season behind us here are your division leaders and their respective Stanley Cup Odds. The Capitals have maintained their points lead over the surging Penguins, while the Lightning have won 8 in a row in an attempt to catch the Bruins. All 4 teams see their odds stay about the same to win the Stanley Cup, while the entire Pacific Division attempts to sort out who will represent them in the playoffs and who will settle for a Wildcard spot.

Before the first puck of the season dropped for the 2019-2020 NHL season we offered Over/Under Point Totals for each team. The Islanders and Blue Jackets are on their way to hitting the over while the Devils and Red Wings are running out of gas to get them over the finish line.

Puck Record for February (23-19) last night (2-1).

If only the Montreal Canadiens could have held on another minute, they might have had a better fate in overtime. The Islanders kept the streak going with road wins against the Capitals and the Flames. Let’s just say Hope Floats… in the shark tank? A New Hope… from the bottom 3 lines? Ok, I’m done with my terrible movie/ Flames dad puns. Let’s get it!

Pork’s Puck Pick- Chicago Blackhawks+110

This picks all lies upon if Connor McDavid plays or not. He left practice on Monday because of an injury and is questionable to go tonight. Chicago has also won 3 of the last 5 meetings and the most recent two according to Newsday Sports. These two squads match up fairly evenly in the stats department but without the league’s leading scorer slapping the puck around, my faith lies with the Blackhawks in this game. Stay close to Win Daily Discord channel and twitter for McDavid updates.

Rib’s Puck Pick- St Louis  Blues -136

Newsday Sports reports that both teams have won a game on St. Louis this season, both by a 4-1 score. Even though St. Louis has been on a bit of a slide since beating Anaheim, St Louis is still the deeper team. If the Blues can get 2 of their top 3 lines rolling in this game I am sure they will come out ahead and get the win. Leading Anaheim in every stat margin that Newsday Sports shows other than hits per game and blocked shots per game is another reason to have faith in the Blue Notes.

Bean’s Puck Pick – Pittsburgh Penguins -107

Tampa took only 31 seconds into overtime to pull out a win last night against Columbus in a 2-1 grind out a win. Tonight they travel to Pittsburgh to face a rested Penguins team. The Penguins also got news of a potential boost in offensive production when they traded away Alex Galchenyuk and defensive prospect Calen Addison to Minnesota in return for Jason Zucker. Now I don’t believe that Zucker will be in the lineup for this contest, however, acquiring an asset like this shows the GM has faith in his players and usually gives the team a boost. The Penguins haven’t faired well recently against Tampa Bay, however, I believe this is the perfect scenario for them to turn their fortunes around. The Penguins will win this one late in the game in a tight contest.

Puck Record for February (21-18) last night (1-2).

The Rangers pulled through for us yesterday. I hope you all saw the snip in Discord and took the Rangers either ML or live after the first. Detroit did it again to the Bruins, should have followed the trend, and a big 3rd period from the Jets set us behind for the day. Today is a new week, so let’s start off with a bang!

Pork’s Puck Pick- Montreal Canadians -130

Since trading for Taylor Hall on December 16, 2019, the Arizona Coyotes have won a grand total of 8 games in 21 contests. According to Newsday sports, they have also lost their last 6 road starts. With a record for the puck stoppers, Newsday sports had Carey Price with 4 victories in his last 5 starts, whereas Antti Raanta has only won 1 of his last 5 starts. Raanta was pulled before his last start however and Newsday sports reports that Kuemper could be ready to go as early as this game. We will have to see what happens with that Arizona goaltending situation but regardless I think the Canadians take this matchup.

Rib’s Puck Pick- New York Islanders +150

This is a battle between the 3rd overall team in goals per game in Washington vs the 5th overall team in Goals against. Washington is up  2-1 in their season series with the away team winning all 3 games. They say that defense wins championships and the trends in the past three games follow the road team winning narrative, so I’m sticking with it and saying that the Islanders will win. My only deterring thought is if Samsonov is the puck stopper for the Capitals. Stay in touch on discord and twitter for updates. But hey of Detroit can beat Boston, I have faith the Islanders can take out the Caps

Bean’s Puck Pick – Calgary Flames +100

This pick is strictly based on hope, Hope that this team is going to gel again on the road. I hope that the same Flames team that showed up against the Canucks Saturday night is the new standard. I hope that the same Flames team that lost to the Sharks 3-1 last week is no longer. I obviously have this hope and believe the Flames will have a payback mentality and will win this game in San Jose.

There are a few other matchups I may like, however it depends who the puck stopper is. Stay tuned to the #nhl and # sports betting tabs on Discord, as well as Twitter for any changes or more potential matchups as more news unfolds!

Puck Record for February (15-12) last night (1-3).

Shared NYI -1.5 on the WinDaily Discord chat yesterday. If you’re not on there, sign up today. A lot of great conversation and learning happening daily. Let’s get back on the winning puck tracks, shall we?!

Pork’s Puck Pick- Toronto Maple Leafs-235

With newly acquired backup Jack Campbell and Fredrick Anderson nearing a return, I have new hope that the Leafs can make a run here. There is too much talent in the top two lines for them to not put more pucks past Gibson then one of the puck stoppers for le Leafs lets in. Campbell was really good with a much less talented team in LA. Even if the answer doesn’t get the start in this one, I look for the Leafs to pull out a home win.

Rib’s Puck Pick- Dallas Stars- 157

The home and away records are what gives me faith in this pick. Newsday Sports has the Dallas Stars record at 16-8-2 where the Wild are 9-15-2 on the road. Although Dallas has struggled to put the puck in the net, they have been lights out defensively. Even though Minnesota has the edge in the season series, they won both games at home and as stated are a very different team on the road. I think Dallas makes the season series even with a win tonight

Bean’s Puck Pick – New York Rangers -177

As the Minnesota Wild, the Buffalo Sabres are a different team on the road. With a record of 8-14-4 away and The Rangers 15-11-1-1 record at home, I already see NYR with the upper hand. With Newsday Sports reporting a solid 6-2 win in their last matchup for the Rangers at home at MSG, I see a similar fate in tonight’s contest. The Sabres are also riddled with injuries. Dahlin, Larsson, and Lazar questionable for this game and Olofsson and Ullmark will miss this one for sure. To add insult to injury, the Blue Shirts have won the last 3 straight contests.

There are a few other matchups I may like, however it depends who the puck stopper is. Stay tuned to the #nhl and # sports betting tabs on Discord, as well as Twitter for any changes or more potential matchups as more news unfolds!

A solid night! Back on the winning tracks.

Pork’s Puck Pick- Florida Panthers -113

Newsday sports.com shows that the home team has won the only 4 matchups between these two teams. This is where the Florida Panthers find themselves in this matchup. The Knights have struggled recently winning 3 of their last 7 on this grueling 8game road trip, which comes to an end tonight in Florida. Listed as questionable currently, I think Alexander Barkov will return for this one giving the offense a boost. Winners of 7 of their last 10 games, I believe the Panthers will defeat Vegas in a close one due to their 5th overall puck scoring with an average over 3.5 goals per game.

Rib’s Puck Pick- St.Loius Blues -175

The Blues at home are money, winning 20 of their 26 contests at Enterprise Centre. St. Louis has won 2 of the 3 matchups this season, including a 4-1 win at home back on December 29th as per Newsday Sports. Both puck stoppers have been playing well for the Blue Notes as Jake Allen seems to has returned to a solid “1b” option again. Winnipeg has struggled lately despite the play of Connor Hellebuyck, who has been solid between the pipes for them. Only winners of 2 of their last 10. This does include a victory over the Blues in Winnipeg, however it was the second night of a back to back for St. Louis. I believe that the Blues will continue their strong play and take a 3-1 series lead in their season series tonight.

Bean’s Puck Pick – Vancouver Canucks +108

Vancouver is currently 2-2 on this current road trip with a tough shootout loss to Carolina and getting beat by a strong Bruins team. The stats on Newsday sports show that the Canucks are the much stronger team, as does Vancouver being First place in a strong Pacific conference. Minnesota is a much better home team than they are on the road with 4 wins out of 6 on their current homestand. However, I think Vancouver’s 10th ranked offense and 13th ranked defense is enough to overcome Minnesota’s 15th ranked offense and 29th ranked goals against per game. The play of Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson has been exceptional lately and I see this continuing tonight! They will be solid plays in your FanDuel, DraftKings and Monkey Knife Fight builds tonight. They have been putting the puck in the net with consistency and regularity since the all-star break.

There are a few other matchups I may like, however it depends who the puck stopper is. Stay tuned to the #nhl and # sports betting tabs on Discord, as well as Twitter for any changes or more potential matchups as more news unfolds!

Welcome to Zak’s Puck Picks!! I started in Cash with Flash Handicapping Challenge and have been heating up. I am super excited to keep the momentum going and win some serious money with all of you!

Puck Record for February (11-9) last night (1-4).

Pork’s Puck Pick- New York Rangers +129

Newsday Sports reports that 7 of the last 10 matchups, the road team has come away with the victory, including 3 of the last 3. My opinion on this game may change however depending on if puck stopper Freddie Anderson is good to go or not. He suffered a potential concussion after a collision with Franky Vatrano of the Panthers Monday night, however, all reports post-game stated that Anderson passed concussion protocol and was feeling much better. If the Leafs go to Hutchison in net, I feel the Rangers could have enough firepower to pull off the upset. Stay tuned to Twitter and Discord for the final call on this game!

*Update* Anderson is not traveling with the team to New York. Hutchinson has not been stellar and has had trouble stopping the puck. Igor Shesterkin is listed to start on Newsday sports and has been great posting 3 wins out of 5 and an above .900 save percentage in all of his starts. Again I think the Rangers have enough firepower to beat the Leafs at home.

Rib’s Puck Pick- Boston -152

A fantastic original 6 matchup this one should be! With both teams coming off of a game last night so that shouldn’t be something to look at. It is projected that both teams will start their “1b” puck stoppers in Halak and Lehner. Both have won 3 of their last 5 games. The Boston pick comes from the fact that I believe that they are the more complete team. Chicago is a great offensive team and has been scoring on the regular, however, they aren’t the greatest keeping the puck out of the net. Boston’s top line has been one of the best in the NHL scoring goals. The Bruins also rank 1st in the league at goals against according to Newsday sports.com.

Bean’s Puck Pick – FA CUP Soccer- Tottenham -159

Soccer is my other love. Played it for the better part of 15 years and have followed the English league since I could afford the internet to see what was going on. The FA Cup is tricky to bet on because a lot of the top teams put out a young line up of guys that don’t usually see game action in the EPL or Champions League action. However, Tottenham has just come off of a huge 2-0 victory over Manchester City on the weekend and I believe will ride that momentum into this match.

Puck Record for February (10-5) last night (1-2).

Javi’s cats won again… for real I’m done betting against them!! Dallas and New York went on a scoring spree, much to my surprise, and the Flyers put 3 past Bernier and came out with a 3-0 victory. Glad we got the + bet!

Pork’s Puck Pick- Colorado -136

This game to me boils down to Colorado’s first overall goals per game vs Buffalo’s 19th overall in goals against per game, according to Newsday sports. Carter Hutton snuck out 1 win in his last 10 starts and only has 3 games with a puck stopping percentage over .900.

Rib’s Puck Pick- Winnipeg -113

In the Matchup between the Jets and the Predators, the Jets have taken wins in 4 of the last 5 meetings. Coming off of a dominant 5-2 performance against the Stanley Cup winners, St.Louis Blues and with Hellebuyck seemingly returning to form, I like the chances of Winnipeg pulling out a win here. Nashville has been struggling to keep pucks out of their net allowing 21 goals over their last 5 games. I like Winnipeg get the home win here. With Colorado averaging 33.14 shots per game, you would like a higher save percentage against the likes of McKinnon, Rantanen and the crew. With seemingly only Jack Eichel and Evan Rodrigues providing offense, that won’t be enough to take down the defensively strong and full of firepower Avalanche.

Bean’s Puck Pick – Edmonton + 102

After coming off one of the most exciting games I have had the pleasure of watching against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, McDavid and the boys are rolling. Coming off two impressive wins against the aforementioned Flames and the Stanley Cup Champions St. Louis Blues, it appears the Oilers are Clicking on all cylinders. Arizona has been struggling to lose their last 3 games coming out of the all-star break. Their number 1 goalie in Antti Raanta has clearly turned into a number 2, and with Darcy Kuemper on the shelf for a little while longer, things don’t look so good in the desert.

Zak’s puck Pick- Chicago +123

Winners of 4 of the last five meetings between these two clubs, the Chicago Blackhawks have been playing some solid hockey. Both puck stoppers in Corey Crawford and Robin Lehner have been great. The likes of Patrick Kane and Johnathan Toews are again on hot streaks and has this team looking at the playoffs. Currently only 3 points out of a wild card with 2 games in hand on Arizona, these Hawks have the motivation to win. Minnesota has been inconsistent and has been struggling between the pipes. Sitting 4 points back of Chicago, having played as many games, there is still hope for the playoffs but they really need to regain some level of stability. I think the likes of Kane, Toews, and Kubalik keep their hot sticks firing and are able to put more pucks past Minnesota to collect the win.

There are a few other matchups I may like, however it depends who the puck stopper is. Stay tuned to the #nhl and # sports betting tabs on Discord, as well as Twitter for any changes or more potential matchups as more news unfolds!

Puck Record for February (9-3) last night (2-1).

Pork’s Puck Pick- Toronto -175

Toronto may have a short memory, however, I don’t think the embarrassment of the 8-4 drubbing the last time the Panthers came to town is quickly forgotten about. Without a fully healthy Sasha Barkov and the Leafs out for revenge, I expect them to come out firing on all cylinders. I know, I know I told Javier Prellezo on discord I wouldn’t bet against his cats anymore. But Pork’s got a feeling! As per Newsday Sports, I am predicting this to be a close game as the teams are 2nd (Panthers) and 3rd (Leafs) in goals per game separated by 0.004 goals per game. As well they are 24th (Leafs) and 25th.   (Panthers) in goals against per game separated by 0.588 goals against. The Leafs have won both of their games coming out of the All-Star break where Florida has lost their meeting 4-0 against the Canadians. I see the Leafs taking this one. Sorry Javi

Rib’s Puck Pick- Dallas vs New York Rangers Over/Under. Under 5.5 goals -115

The Rangers are coming off back to back wins against Detroit, which you hope would be the case. Now they come up against a very solid defensive team in the Dallas Stars. Dallas is coming off a 3-2 shootout win vs the Devils and the Rangers won 1-0 against Detroit. The stats at Newsday sports has 4 of the last 5 meetings finishing under 5.5 goals, with all 4 of those finishing with 3 or fewer goals combined. With Dallas’s lack of ability to put the puck in the net and their ability to keep pucks out of their net, I see this low scoring trend continuing.

Bean’s Puck Pick – Philadelphia- PUCK LINE -1.5 (+117)

The Flyers are coming off of an impressive 6-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche. As Philly has struggled more on the road, I don’t need to tell you the struggles of the Detroit Red Wings home or away. Outscoring their opponents 16-11 in their last 5 games as well as beating Detroit by 2 or more in their last 2 meetings, I see this scoring trend continuing this evening in Motown!
