After a four-year hiatus, it is finally time for the return of the World Cup! This year’s World Cup differs from every other World Cup we’ve ever seen as it is normally held during the summer with matches at what we would consider more standard times.

The main lock on these slates will be very early by DFS standards at 8:00 A.M. ET. Every day there will be three matches with the same starting times each following another. Similar to what we see in other competitions, lineups should be out for each team approximately an hour before the lock on each game. It is critical to pay attention and allow our lineups as much flexibility as possible.

Because the lineups may differ from match to match, it makes it incredibly difficult to accurately predict for DFS purposes. Therefore, we will do our best without actual lineups or for any slates beyond Mondays for now, any of the DraftKings or FanDuel pricing.

In addition to the very general breakdowns below, we will be providing more specific advice as lineups drop for each match in the Win Daily Discord, so stay tuned and be on your toes!

Monday 11/21 World Cup

Match Odds

England (-270) vs Iran (+950)

Senegal (+550) vs Netherlands (-180)

USA (+135) vs Wales (+210)

11/21 SOCCER DFS Breakdown

England should be the chalk of the slate for a number of reasons. They are the top team and biggest favorite on the slate and their game kicks off the slate so we have the certainty of a lineup. On the high-end, Harry Kane will be popular leading the line. Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden look like they will fill out England’s front three and make great pivots off of Kane. If he were healthy, Netherlands Memphis Depay would be Kane’s primary alternative in the upper price range and has a higher floor due to his role on set pieces “corner kicks, free kicks”. I can’t say I’m an expert on how his absence will shake up the Dutch. However, Vincent Janssen is projected to lead the Netherlands line so at $7,100 I certainly have some interest at anyone in that role at such a relatively low cost.

The next place I’m plugging players in is at the defender position as I look for some wing defenders with high floors. We will have to see how England’s lineup shakes out but the likes of Kieran Trippier or Trent Alexander-Arnold if the latter draws the start, will be popular options. I feel like a traitor to my country suggesting him but Neco Williams has been a monster at the club level. As a result, William’s price seems very fair at $5,800 with him in more of a midfield role. Both anticipated American wing defenders Antonee Robinson and Sergino Dest also help fill out lineups without killing the budget.

Tuesday 11/22 World Cup

Match Odds

Denmark (-270) vs Tunisia (+650)

Mexico (+190) vs Poland (+190)

France (-350) vs Australia (+1100)

11/22 SOCCER DFS Breakdown

I will generally be fading both Australia and Tunisia unless I really need the salary savings somewhere. My favorite play from this group of matches is Denmark’s Christian Eriksen. He truly is the lifeblood of the Danish team, handling all set pieces and penalty kicks. From there, you can pick one of his Denmark running mates up top or turn to the French. Expect any French attackers who start to be popular with Kylian Mbappe the chalkiest and Antoine Greizmann, Kingsley Coman, and Oliver Giroud “we will have to see the price” running behind him.

Perhaps the best contrarian value can be found in the Poland/Mexico matchup. This match is a tossup odds-wise but features some prominent offensive stars on both sides, particularly that of the Polish. If building multiple lines it might be wise to take one high-end build and then weave in Poland and do the same on another with Mexico. Once again we will have to see pricing when it comes out, but I’d expect no bargains to be found anywhere in the other two matches so I will keep my eyes on this one.

Wednesday 11/23 World Cup

Match Odds

Germany (-210) vs Japan (+550)

Spain (-575) vs Costa Rica (+1500)

Belgium (-200) vs Canada (+550)

11/23 SOCCER DFS Breakdown

The only underdog I think has a shot here is Canada so unless I really need some punts, Japan and Costa Rica can be faded. I will probably want to start off with hard looks at Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Germany midfielder Joshua Kimmich. I would prioritize the former of the two but he will undoubtedly come at a much higher cost. Both are tremendous sources of set-piece points and assists. KDB also has a little bit of goal-scoring upside as well. As far as the strikers/forwards go, I will probably be eyeing Spain assuming that the prices of guys such as Alvaro Morata, Fernan Torres, and Pablo Sarabia come in a bit cheaper than their Belgian and German counterparts. Costa Rica was a relatively strong defensive team in qualifying. However, this is a whole different ballgame and Spain is a -550 favorite.

Thursday 11/24 World Cup

Match Odds

Uruguay (-125) vs South Korea (+390)

Portugal (-275) vs Ghana (+800)

Brazil (-230) vs Serbia (+600)

11/24 SOCCER DFS Breakdown

I don’t see myself having much interest in either South Korea or Ghana here but Serbia does have some solid attackers for a +600 favorite. In very large field tournaments, a mini Serbia stack might be in play for a shot at a takedown “you can probably eat some chalk with this”. Portugal will likely get the highest ownership as the biggest favorite and with some heavy name recognition. However, I could see a higher-scoring affair in the late match, so I don’t mind Brazil pivots in tournaments. Neymar will be popular no matter what but don’t sleep on DFS machine Raphinha.

Friday 11/25 World Cup

Match Odds

Qatar (+245) vs Senegal (+120)

England (-170) vs USA (+500)

The Netherlands (-150) vs Ecuador (+450)

11/25 SOCCER DFS Breakdown

This reminds me a bit of the Monday slate in the respect that we’re generally looking at England and the Netherlands again. However, I don’t mind trying to get a little sneaky with Senegal. I expect all of these matches to likely be low-scoring affairs/go under totals. Ideally, Memphis Depay will be back by this match as I think this is the sort of slate you can drop him in as your starting point/anchor and take it from there.

It is time to once again travel to Europe and enjoy the biggest soccer club tournament in the world.

Welcome to the Second Match Day of the Champion’s League Group Stage! The second slate of the season for these 4 groups sees plenty of close matchups with one heavy favorite in Israel. The DraftKings slate will also see the addition of the Napoli at Rangers game that was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Wednesday 9/14 UCL

Match Odds

RB Salzburg (+700) at Chelsea (-280)

RB Leipzig (+425) at Real Madrid (-180)

Sevilla (+110) at FC Copenhagen(+260)

Dortmund (+1100) at Manchester City (-525)

Benfica (+225) at Juventus (+125)

PSG (-650) at Maccabi Haifa (+1500)

Napoli (-115) at Rangers (+295)

9/14 UCL Top Plays

Forward

DraftKings Forward

Kylian Mbappé – PSG – $12,800 – PSG is the biggest favorite of the slate for a reason. Mbappé started off the group stage scoring 2 goals on 6 shots and finishing off the slate with 36.16DK. These numbers were against a powerhouse in Juventus, he should be able to put up even better numbers against an outmatched Maccabi Haifa squad. His teammates Neymar $12,100 and Lionel Messi $10,900 are also in play.

FanDuel Forward

Erling Haaland – Manchester City – $22 – I don’t think Erling Haaland could have written a better start to his career at City. Through 8 official games, Haaland has produced 12 goals and 1 assist including scoring a brace in the opening group stage match against Sevilla. This game will also mark Haaland’s first game against his former team Dortmund.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Arkadiusz Milik – Juventus – $4,800 “low-end”, Eden Hazard – Real Madrid – $5,500 “mid-range”, Erling Haaland- Manchester City – $11,600 “high-end”

FanDuel – Youssef En-Nesyri – Sevilla – $18 “low-end”, Vinicius Junior – Real Madrid – $20 “mid-range”, Neymar – PSG – $21 “high-end”

Midfielder and FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

DraftKings Midfielder

Piotr Zielinski – Napoli – $8,700 – With the Napoli at Rangers game being moved to Wednesday, we get the pleasure of playing one of the best midfielders on DraftKings. In the opening game against Liverpool, Zielinski proved why he is considered a top-tier Serie A player. He finished the game with 2 goals and an assist while scoring 34DK which was second best on a slate filled with elite talent. He gets a much easier matchup against Rangers, who struggled to keep up with Ajax losing the game 4-0.

FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City – $20 – De Bruyne might be the best midfielder in the world at the moment. To start the season he is averaging a total of 4 chances created per 90 minutes which leads the team. KDB should have plenty of chances to create opportunities for his teammates in what will surely be a back-and-forth game against Dortmund

Pivots:

DraftKings – Weston McKennie – Juventus – $4000 “low-end”, Phil Foden – Manchester City – $8,500 “mid-range”, Vinicius Junior – Real Madrid- $9,300 “high-end”.

FanDuel – Julian Brandt – Dortmund $14 “low-end”, Timo Werner – RB Leipzig – $16 “mid-range”, Mason Mount – Chelsea – $19 “high-end”

DraftKings Defender

Sergio Ramos – PSG $3,100 – With PSG being heavy favorites this is the perfect spot to pay down a bit and take a defender with attacking upside from set pieces and a high chance of a clean sheet bonus. Similarly, his teammate Achraf Hakimi $5,600 has the attacking and clean sheet upside, but at a significantly higher price.

Pivots:

Wesley Fofana – Chelsea – $3,600 “low-end”, Daniel Carvajal – Real Madrid – $4,500 “mid-range”, João Cancelo – Manchester City – $6,100 “high-end”

FanDuel Defender

Reece James – Chelsea – $14– Reece James is a midfielder in a defender’s body. James sits second on the team in chances created only behind their creative midfielder Mason Mount who is only 1 ahead of him. A positive for James is that RB Salzburg is a team that attacks a lot so he will have plenty of space to get in behind the defense and put some crosses in.

Pivots:

Achraf Hakimi – PSG – $14, Antonio Rüdiger – Real Madrid – $10 “low-end”

DraftKings/FanDuel Goalie

Gianluigi Donnarumma – PSG – $5,900/$15 – Donnarumma should not face many shots this game, with Maccabi Haifa only managing two shots on goal in their opening group stage match. The upside for the Italian keeper is the clean sheet and win bonuses that should come easy for him this game.

Pivot: Thibaut Courtois – Real Madrid -$5,600/$12, Alex Meret- Napoli – $5,400 (DK Only)

UCL Top Bet

Bet – Parlay – Real Madrid ML/ Napoli ML/ Chelsea ML (+291) DraftKings – 1 Unit

It was a shocking first week as the Champion’s League returned but what will MatchWeek Two have in store? Unlike last week, we do not have many large favorites on the slate.

The largest money line favorite is Porto at -255 followed by a very shaky-looking Liverpool side at -195.

Without further adieu, we will dig into the odds, cover the top DFS plays position-by-position and provide betting analysis.

Tuesday 9/13 UCL

Match Odds

Atletico Madrid (+145) at Bayer Leverkusen (+195)

Barcelona (+285) at Bayern Munich (-130)

Club Brugge (+700) at FC Porto (-255)

Ajax (+450) at Liverpool (-195)

Eintracht Frankfurt (+275) at Marseille (+100)

Napoli (-120) at Rangers (+320)

9/13 UCL Top Plays

Forward

DraftKings Forward

Mohammed Salah – Liverpool – $9,000 – We also have the option of Robert Lewandowski in a “revenge” match with his former team Bayern Munich. However, given his $11,900 price tag, I think it is a lot to pay for his role in a match where I doubt he will be scoring as many goals as last week when Barcelona was a -1400 money line favorite. Mohammed Salah much like Liverpool has been off to an awful start this season. Their defense is truly as atrocious as it has looked. However, there should be some offensive regression coming here. I expect this to be a relatively open game and Salah has been contributing enough chances and shots that he is due to find a net a couple of times.

FanDuel Forward

Robert Lewandowski – Barcelona – $21 – With the prices flipped on FanDuel and Mohammed Salah more expensive than Lewandowski, think this is where we play him. It is important to note that Barcelona are underdogs here. However, the Bayern defense has been far from perfect. Furthermore, if there was ever anyone who knew how to exploit Bayerns defense, I’d put money on this man, who spent the better part of the last decade practicing with them.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Evanilson/Toni Martinez -Porto – $4,700/$4,100 “low-end”, Raphinha – Barcelona- $7,600 “mid-range”, Darwin Nunez – Liverpool – $8,800 “high-end”

FanDuel – Sadio Mane – Bayern Munich – $18 “low-end”, Darwin Nunez – Liverpool – $21 “mid-range”, Mohammed Salah – Liverpool – $22 “high-end”

Midfielder and FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

DraftKings Midfielder

Otavio “Questionable”/Matius Uribe – Porto – $5,200/$3,700 – Porto as mentioned at the very top of the article is the largest favorite on the slate. That said, the forwards are certainly cheap but neither is awe-inspiring. I still think they make for fine punts on this slate, as noted by their inclusion under “low-end” above. However, if healthy Otavio has the majority role on set pieces and serves as the preferred penalty taker. With a very affordable $5,200 price tag, Otavio may be the best Porto play on DraftKings if in. That said, he was badly hurt on Wednesday so may be out although has not been ruled out for the match as of the time of writing. Should he sit, Matius Uribe will likely assume his role. If that is the case we also pocket an extra $1,500 savings but either way both are underpriced.

FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

Joshua Kimmich – Bayern Munich – $16 – This is a lot more affordable than Kimmich’s $10,000 DraftKings price. Given his role as Bayern’s primary set-piece taker along with FanDuel price, Kimmich is a cash game lock and should be very popular in all FanDuel formats.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Raphinha – Barcelona – $7,600 “low-end”, Piotr Zielinski – Napoli – $9,800 “mid-range”, Joshua Kimmich – Bayern Munich – $10,000 “high-end”.

FanDuel – Mateus Uribe – Porto $15 “low-end”, Joshua Kimmich – Bayern Munich – $16 “mid-range”, Pietr Zielinski – Napoli- $20 “high-end”

DraftKings Defender

Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool $6,500 – Often seen at a much higher cost on EPL slates, Liverpool’s primary set piece taker seems like a core piece on this slate. Despite Liverpool getting destroyed in MatchWeek One, TAA still managed 18.5 DraftKings points solely off of peripheral stats.

Pivots:

Hector Bellerin/Alejandro Balde – Barcelona – $3,800/$2,800 “low-end”, Alphonso Davies- Bayern Munich – $5,300 “mid-range”, Kostas Tsimakas – Liverpool – $6,200 “high-end”

FanDuel Defender

Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool – $15 – I hate to spend up on defense on FanDuel. However, it makes more sense on this slate than on most. Stars and Scrubs today seems like a losing strategy with so many question marks surrounding some of the spend ups.

Pivots:

Daley Blind – Ajax – $9, Denis Odoi – Club Brugge – $8

DraftKings/FanDuel Goalie

Alex Meret – Napoli – $5,500/$12 – Off to a strong start this season and playing behind a much-improved defense.

Pivot: Diego Costa – Porto -$6,100/$14

UCL Top Bet

Bet – Club Brugge or Draw – Double Chance (+200/+180) Bet Rivers/DraftKings – 0.5 Units – The +1.5 is safer but at -160 on DraftKings, it lacks juice. If choosing between the two I think you pop a half unit on the double chance “maybe match it with the +1.5”. A -235 for Porto here just seems a little fishy particularly if down Otavio.

It is finally time to once again to travel to Europe and and enjoy the biggest soccer club tournament in the world.

Welcome back to the First Match Day of the Champion’s League Group Stage! The first slate of the season for these 4 groups sees plenty of close matches with one heavy favorite in Barcelona.

Wednesday 9/7 UCL

Match Odds

Viktoria Plzen (+2500) at Barcelona (-1400)

Marseille (+550) at Tottenham (-200)

FC Porto (+340) at Atletico Madrid (-110)

Leverkusen (+105) at Club Brugge (+230)

Bayern Munich (-120) at Inter Milan (+310)

Liverpool (+105) at Napoli(+260)

9/7 UCL Top Plays

Forward

DraftKings Forward

Ousmane Dembélé – Barcelona – $8,500 – Barcelona comes into this game as the biggest favorite on the slate. Barcelona should win this game by a good amount of goals, and Dembélé will be involved in the score sheet by either scoring or assisting the 2nd highest-priced forward on this slate Robert Lewandowski $11,200.

FanDuel Forward

Robert Lewandowsi – Barcelona – $24 – As mentioned with Dembélé, Barcelona comes into this game as heavy favorites. So far this season the team has scored 11 goals with the man nicknamed LewanGOALski netting 5 of them. With the favorable matchup, he has the potential to dictate the slate like Haaland and Mbappé did on Tuesday.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Ferrán Jutglà – Club Brugge – $4,200 “low-end”, Lautaro Martinez – Inter Milan – $6,300 “mid-range”, Harry Kane – Tottenham – $12,600 “high-end”

FanDuel – Hirving Lozano – Napoli – $14 “low-end”, Alvaro Morata – Atletico Madrid – $19 “mid-range”, Harry Kane – Tottenham – $21 “high-end”

Midfielder and FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

DraftKings Midfielder

Piotr Zielinski – Napoli – $8,200 – The Napoli midfielder could have not asked for a better start to the season than the one he has had in the team’s first 5 Serie A games. Through the first 5 games of the season, Zielinski scored a goal and assisted 3, with an average of 4.5 chances created per 90 minutes.

FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

Thomas Müller – Bayern Munich – $19 – I love this spot for Müller at a discount compared to the top of the slate. This should be a back-and-forth match with both teams creating chances. Müller comes into this game with the second most chances created on his team as well as a goal and 2 assists.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Andreas Skov Olsen – Club Brugge – $3,100 “low-end”, Joshua Kimmich – Bayern Munich – $7,500 “mid-range”, Mohamed Salah – Liverpool – $9,300 “high-end”.

FanDuel – Andreas Skov Olsen – Club Brugge $15 “low-end”, Luis Diaz – Liverpool – $19 “mid-range”, Harry Kane – Tottenham – $21 “high-end”

DraftKings Defender

Alphonso Davies – Bayern Munich $5,300 – The Bayern defender doesn’t have the best chances to grab the valuable clean sheet bonus, but with the potential back and forth game between Inter and Bayern, he will have plenty of attacking opportunities to make up for it. His counterpart to the right Benjamin Pavard $4800 is also in play. Both average just under 2 chances created per 90 minutes.

Pivots:

Jules Koundé/Gerard Piqué – Barcelona – $4,000/$3,000 “low-end”, Nahuel Molina – Atletico Madrid – $5,800 “mid-range”, Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool – $6,600 “high-end”

FanDuel Defender

Ivan Perisic – Tottenham – $14– The midfielder who gets listed as a wingback on FanDuel has been creating many scoring opportunities for his team. You can the best of both worlds with him on this slate, he can produce points attacking while also having the possibility of getting the clean sheet bonus against Marseille.

Pivots:

Alphonso Davies – Bayern Munich – $14, Nahuel Molina – Atletico Madrid – $9 “low-end”

DraftKings/FanDuel Goalie

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – Barcelona – $6,000/$15 – ter Stegen is not going to face many shots from Plzen but he easily has the best clean sheet and win odds on the slate. You can also plug in Arnau Torres if he starts instead of ter Stegen.

Pivot: Simon Mignolet – Club Brugge -$4,600/$9, Jan Oblak- Atletico Madrid – $5,400/ $12

UCL Top Bet

After a long time away, it is finally time for the return of the Champion’s League Group Stages.

As we dive into UCL MatchWeek One below, we will analyze the match odds, single out players on each site in every price range and even provide a top bet.

Tuesday 9/6 UCL

Match Odds

Maccabi Haifa (+1100) at Benfica (-425)

Real Madrid (-160) at Celtic (+425)

AC Milan (+105) at RB Salzburg (+265)

Juventus (+750) at PSG (-290)

Shaktar Donetsk (+1100) at RB Leipzig (-450)

Manchester City (-275) at Sevilla (+750)

9/6 UCL Top Plays

Forward

DraftKings Forward

Timo Werner – RB Leipzig – $7,800 – Leipzig comes in as one of the two biggest favorites on the slate hosting Shaktar Donetsk. Nevertheless, we get a decent price break on their star striker back on loan with the club where helped earn his huge transfer fee. His teammate, Christopher Nkunku has a higher floor with a small role on set pieces but also costs nearly $3,000 more and shares set pieces so no monopoly “more on that below he shares with two people”. Furthermore, on a Champion’s League slate like this with many large favorites, goals will be needed. For a little more you could turn to Benfica’s forwards such as David Neres ($9,700) or Goncalo Ramos ($8,200). On the high, high end, PSG is a -290 money line favorite hosting Juventus but their stars are $11,000 or above aside from Messi at $9,900.

FanDuel Forward

David Neres – Benfica – $18 – David Neres “mentioned above” comes in a bit cheaper on FanDuel relatively speaking and I do give Benfica’s matchup the slight nod over Leipzig’s. RB’s opponent Shaktar has a world of Champion’s League Experience as compared to the Israeli team Benfica will be hosting. Neres was stellar in the Champion’s League Group Stage qualifiers. The PSG stars are also much more in play on FanDuel than DraftKings as they are much closer in price.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Olivier Giroud/Junior Messias – $5,400/$5,900 “low-end”, Goncalo Ramos – Benfica- $8,200 “mid-range”, Lionel Messi – PSG – $9,900 “high-end”

FanDuel – Junior Messias -AC Milan – $14 “low-end”, Timo Werner – RB Leipzig – $19 “mid-range”, Kylian Mbappe – PSG – $20 “high-end”

Midfielder and FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

DraftKings Midfielder

Dominik Szoboszlai – RB Leipzig – $6,300 – Wow, what an underprice. Szoboszlai is one of the set piece takers for RB Leipzig and an up and coming star. As mentioned under Timo Werner’s writeup, Leipzig is heavily favored and should control much of the possession and attack leading to a lot of opportunities.

FanDuel Second Forward/Midfielder

Dominik Szoboszlai – RB Leipzig – $16 – Not as juicy as on DraftKings, but this may be the best bargain on FanDuel. As the part set piece taker for Leipzig in a forward role, there is a lot of upside here for a mid range price. Leipzig also provides another value forward in Emil Forsberg if looking for further quality savings.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Emil Forsberg – RB Leipzig – $6,500 “low-end”, Joao Mario – Benfica – $7,500 “mid-range”, Neymar – PSG – $11,100 “high-end”.

FanDuel – Emil Forsberg – RB Leipzig $12 “low-end”, Timo Werner – RB Leipzig – $19 “mid-range”, Kylian Mbappe – PSG – $20 “high-end”

DraftKings Defender

Alejandro Grimaldo – Benfica $6,000 – Given his role on set pieces and Benfica’s status as a heavy favorite and Alejandro Grimaldo was perhaps the first person in my DK lineup. He will be very popular in all formats so a scratch in most instances, but popular for good reason.

Pivots:

Sergio Gomez – Manchester City – $4,400 “low-end”, Gilberto/Alexander Bah – Benfica – $5,400/$4,900 “mid-range”, David Raum – RB Leipzig – $6,700 “high-end”

FanDuel Defender

Antonio “listed with his full super long name” Silva – Benfica – $5– Min price defender playing for a big favorite with solid clean sheet odds. This position is not great per the usual on FanDuel so better off punting.

Pivots:

Sergio Gomez – Manchester City – $8, Nathan Ake – Manchester City – $9 “everyone is low-end”

DraftKings/FanDuel Goalie

Odysseas Vlachodimos – Benfica – $5,900/$8 – Easily the best clean sheet and win odds for minimally more in price than the other goaltenders.

Pivot: Peter Gulacsi – RB Leipzig -$5,800/$11

UCL Top Bet

Bet – Parlay – Benfica ML/RB Leipzig ML/Real Madrid “Draw No Bet” (-116) DraftKings – 1 Unit -It’s been awhile since we had a parlay for our best bet but with some of the odds this makes sense.

Welcome to my soccer DFS breakdown for the English Premier League!

We have a large mid-week slate on tap for Wednesday with six games on the slate! There are a few games that appear to be very lopsided with Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool having easy matchups. My favorite game might be Brighton at West Ham. When these teams get together they usually put up goals. In their last three matchups they put up 12 goals combined, but they all ended in draws. In fact, neither team has kept a clean sheet since 2018 against each other. This game could be the key to a takedown if everyone focuses on fitting in the big players from the three giants on the slate.

Another matchup that may not seem like a one-sided game, but could be is Burnley and Wolves. Burnley swept both games last season by a total of 6-1 and has not lost to Wolves since 2018. In recent form, Burnley has played a bunch of high-scoring games. In their last four games, they are unbeaten (1 win, 3 draws) and have scored nine goals. Meanwhile, Wolves have only scored three goals in their last four games but they have won two of those four games. The last game on this slate is Leicester at Southampton. Leicester has been in great form recently with two wins and seven goals scored, prior to that they only managed two goals in their previous four games. Southampton is on the opposite end from the Foxes with only one goal scored and six allowed in back-to-back losses.

Soccer DFS: Fwds/Mid

High Priced Plays:

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Yes, he is expensive but it is hard for me to go to anyone else in this spot. Salah is the best player in the EPL right now and has scored or assisted on a goal in 10 straight EPL matches for Liverpool. Even if you don’t want to stack Liverpool it could be hard to get a takedown without Salah on Wednesday.

Other Options: Diogo Jota (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Ilkay Gundogan (MCI)

To be perfectly honest, while I mentioned two other options, outside of Salah there isn’t really anyone in this price range I am interested in.

Mid-Tier Plays:

James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

Ward-Prowse is the do-everything man for Southampton but for me he is underpriced ($7K on DK) on Wednesday. Only Matt Ritchie of Newcastle has thrown in more crosses this season than Ward-Prowse. In his last four matches, the Southampton midfielder is averaging near 11 crosses per game. Ward-Prowse seems like a solid and safe play with a safe floor that won’t break the bank for you. If you are looking for a small stack from Southampton, I also like Adam Armstrong to score on Wednesday.

Other Options: Pascal Gross (BHA), Jarrod Bowen/Michail Antonio stack (WHU), Dwight McNeil (Burnley), Bernardo Silva (MCI),

Value Tier Plays:

Maxwel Cornet (Burnley)

Cornet is on the higher end of value for me ($6.8K) but still value nonetheless. Burnley has been putting goals in on a regular basis of late and Cornet has been the catalyst for this on most nights. Like I mentioned in the open, Burnley has nine goals in their last four games and Cornet has four of those nine goals. If you are like me and think Burnley is able to score a few goals in this game then a stack of Cornet/McNeil and one of Charlie Taylor or Matthew Lowton make for a solid inexpensive three-man.

Other Options: Jorginho (Che- make sure he is in, carrying a Q tag), Pablo Fornals (WHU), Neal Maupay (BHA)

Soccer DFS: Defensemen

High Priced Plays:
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liv)
  • Joao Cancelo (MCI)
  • Marcos Alonso (Che)
Mid Tier Plays:
  • Valentino Livramento (Sou)
  • Andrew Robertson (Liv)
  • Lucas Digne (Eve)

Soccer DFS: Goalkeepers

If you are playing cash games then it’s straightforward for me, whoever the keepers are for Chelsea, Liverpool, or Man City are your options. There is enough value on this slate that you can fit whoever you want in between the woodwork. I would rank them as I wrote them above, Chelsea has, on paper, the easiest matchup.

Nick Pope (Burnley)

Pope’s 2021 numbers don’t pop off as spectacular, but this is a winnable game against a club that doesn’t pose much of a goal-scoring threat. Burnley also allows their opponents plenty of shot attempts so there is potential for a huge day from Pope on Wednesday. Pope is averaging 3.6 saves in his last five starts.

Other Options: Kasper Schmeichel (Lei), Jose Sa (Wolves)

Welcome to my soccer DFS breakdown for the UEFA Champions League!

There is one marquee matchup on Wednesday’s slate featuring two European heavyweights in Chelsea and Juventus. We also have two of the top teams in the world with easy matchups in Barcelona (Benfica) and Bayern Munich (Dynamo Kiev). Those two teams will most likely be the pay-up spots people flock to, but I think we can find some equally appetizing plays elsewhere on this slate as well.

My goal in this article will be to point out the plays to pair with the top-end players from the big clubs. I will pick out some players in different pricing tiers for DraftKings and FanDuel to help you build your lineups.

Soccer DFS: Fwds/Mid

High Priced Plays:

Joshua Kimmich ($8.2K/$15)

Rightfully so Robert Lewandowski ($11.5K/$23) will be the popular pay-up option for Bayern and I will not talk you out of playing the best goal scorer on the slate but there are other, cheaper, options. Kimmich is one of those options. On the season, Kimmich has 3 goals and 3 assists for Bayern as a defensive midfielder primarily. I believe he will go overlooked on this slate but offers some good value on Wednesday. Kimmich has seven shots with three on target for the German powerhouse, but he also leads the team in shots assisted (14) (DK only category) and takes corners. If you are like me and plan on running a Bayern stack adding Thomas Muller ($8.5K/$21) or Leroy Sane ($8.3K/$20) is the way I would go.

Other Options: Memphis Depay ($9.5/$21) – too cheap on DK, Ronaldo ($10K/$22), Romelu Lukaku ($9.3K/$20), Pizzi ($8.1K/$16)

Mid Priced Plays:

Burak Yilmaz ($7.7K/$18)

Yilmaz is the do-everything man for Lille this season. While he is second on the team in goals Yilmaz leads Lille in assists (2). Yilmaz also leads Lille in shots (20) and shots on target (8). Yilmaz also has eight crosses on the season thus far which is rare to see from a striker. One stat that stood out was Yilmaz’a shot %, which currently sits at 40%. If Lille gets on the board there’s a good chance Yilmaz will be involved. If you go with Yilamz I will suggest pairing him up with Xeka ($4K/$10). I really like using Xeka as a cheap option that offers up fringe points. Xeka is second on the team in corners (10) and 5th in shots.

Paul Pogba ($6.7/$17)

Pogba is not going to score a goal for Man U on Wednesday evening, but there is a pretty good chance he will be involved in a goal or 2 for the Red Devils. Pogba is the clear set up man for United totaling seven assists on the season. Four other United players have registered assists on the season with only one each. Pogba also has 15 shots taken and 12 shots assisted on the season as well. I already mentioned Ronaldo above, but if you really want to three man this you can go with Bruno Fernandes ($9.1K/$20) or Mason Greenwood ($8.9K/$19) if you can’t afford Ronaldo.

Other Options: Federic Chiesa ($7.9K/$17), Rafa ($6.9/$17), Arnaut Danjuma ($6.6/$18)

Value Priced Plays:

Daniel Parejo ($5.3K/$15)

Parejo is similar to Pogba in that he won’t necessarily get on the score sheet but he will get you those passing points. Parejo take corners for Villarreal and also sends in crosses. I don’t know how much offensive possession we will see Villarreal have on Wednesday but Man U has lost two straight matches so they are not in good form currently.

Maximilian Philipp ($5K/$13)

Philipp is one of two Maximilian’s who take corners for the German side (the other is Maximilian Arnold). Both are very similar players for Wolfsburg, but I will take the salary savings and go with Philipp on DraftKings. If you are playing on FanDuel, then Arnold is your man. This play is purely GPP as neither of them has a real safe floor.

Other Options: Leon Goretzka ($5.9K/$17), Ridle Baku ($5.4K/$17), Roman Yaremchuk ($5.9K/$19), Timothy Weah ($4.8/$15)

Soccer DFS: Defensemen

Like with most slates, there is so much top talent on this slate that paying on defense may be difficult. There are two defenders I would play if you wanted to go that route. Both Alphonso Davies ($6K/$12) and Marcos Alonso ($5.9K/$15). They both push forward and have been involved with the scoring and both are unpriced in my opinion.

Alex Sandro ($4.8K/$13), Juan Cuadrado ($5.8K/$14)

Both wingbacks for Juventus are in play on Wednesday depending on what salary you have remaining. Both of them can push up and get involve with scoring and both throw in plenty of crosses. Cuadrado does take corners occasionally for Juve which makes him slightly more valuable.

Below I will list some inexpensive defenders that can be used on Wednesday:

  • Gilberto ($3.6K/$10) – Benfica
  • Vitali Mykolenko ($3.7/$10) – Dynamo Kiev
  • Mehmet Zeki Celik ($4.2K/$8) – Lille
  • Alex Telles ($5.7K/$11) – Manchester United
  • Oumar Solet ($3.7K/$12)

Soccer DFS: Goalkeepers

If you are playing cash games then I would stick with David de Gea ($5.8K/$12) or Manuel Neuer ($5.9K/$14). Both could pick up both the win and clean sheet bonuses. They are expensive but there is enough value that you should be able to make them fit for cash games.

Yassine Bounou ($5.1K/$9)

Sevilla has either won or drawn their last 5 matches and only conceded three goals in that span. Bounou has stopped 10 of the 12 shots he’s seen on target this season with three clean sheets. Wolfsburg has only scored five goals in their last five games and only scored more than one goal once in that span.

Odisseas Vlachodimos ($4.7K/$9)

Barcelona is not the same team they were a year ago and Benfica has yet to lose this season. Vlachodimos has played every minute between the woodwork and that should be the case on Wednesday. In his seven games this season, Vlachodimos has saved 18 of 21 shots on target and has three clean sheets. Vlachodimos might be my favorite GPP play on this slate. I see him going overlooked because of the club he is facing, but there is an outside chance he gets the win and CS bonus in this match.

Welcome to my soccer DFS breakdown for the UEFA Champions League!

On day two of the Champions League first round, we have some really interesting matchups. There are some top-class clubs in action like Manchester City, PSG, Liverpool, and Real Madrid that we will want exposure to. If you are playing this slate then you most likely already know how good these teams are and do not need me to tell you about their top players.

My goal in this article will be to point out the plays to pair with the top-end players from the big clubs. I will pick out some players in different pricing tiers for DraftKings and FanDuel to help you build your lineups.

Soccer DFS: Fwds/Mid

High Priced Plays:

Messi ($11K/$24), Kylian Mbappe ($10.2K/$23), Neymar ($10K/$22)

The dynamic trio of forwards from PSG (-400) are the top plays on the entire slate for a team that is the biggest favorite on the slate. This is my favorite pay-up spot, and it will be difficult to fit them in, but I think it will be key to at least get one into your builds.

Sebastien Haller ($9k/$21)

Haller will be low-owned because of the talent around him in the position which is why he makes this list. I believe that Ajax in general will be overlooked but they may be in the best spot on the day. Ajax has scored 13 goals in for games in the Eredivisie this season and has only conceded once (more on this later). Haller is the top threat for this club with both Dusan Tadic ($8.9k/$19) and Steven Berghuis ($8.5K/$16) as secondary stacking options.

Other Options: Kevin de Bruyne ($9.2k/$23), Karim Benzema ($8.8k/$22), Hakan Calhangolu ($8.1K/$17)

Mid Priced Plays:

Ilkay Gundogan ($5.7k/$14)

My favorite play on the entire slate might be Ilkay Gundogan. For his salary, Gundogan offers some of the best upside on the slate. Gundogan has scored one goal for Manchester City as well as taking 28 crosses. Pairing him with Ferran Torres ($7.7k/$19) who leads Man City in goals this season and should be a threat to score on Wednesday in a game in which City should notch 2-3 goals easily.

Vinicius Junior ($5.7K/$17)

Junior has four goals this season for Madrid in La Liga and is a nice GPP pivot off the chalkier, and more expensive, Benzema. If you are building multiple lineups then I don’t mind a Madrid stack with Benzema.

Other Options: Diogo Jota ($7.4K/$20), Luis Suarez ($6.8k/$21), Lautaro Martinez ($6.7k/$20), Julian Draxler ($6.2/$16)

Value Priced Plays:

Olivier Giroud ($4.9k/$18)

This is going to sound strange, but I really love Giroud for GPP’s on Wednesday. He will not get full minutes but the Milan coach has stated that he will play. Either Giroud or Ante Rebic ($7.3/$18) will start and the other will come on later in the game. I would only play Giroud on DraftKings at his super cheap price for possible production. I would prefer Girous to come off the bench because he will carry almost zero ownership. Now, this is risky because if he doesn’t start there is a chance he never gets on the pitch. Before being put on the COVID list, Giroud has scored twice with four shots in two games.

Emil Forsberg ($4.2k/$16)

When you are digging this low for a play then you have to take some risks. Forsberg is a goal scorer and could be a key player in a GPP takedown. I expect Ederson to be one of the chalky plays in goal so using Forsberg as a potential goal scorer means he will carry no ownership and will put you ahead of the field if he manages a goal. Forsberg has scored twice this season for Leipzig in four games.

Other Options: Thiago ($4.1k/$15), Thomas Lemar ($4.9k/$16)

Soccer DFS: Defensemen

With all the high-end talent up front on Wednesday, I will be recommending paying down on defense.

Mario Hermoso ($4.4k/$6)

Hermoso is listed as a defenseman for Atletico, but he will most likely be most more in a wingback capacity. It isn’t likely Hermoso gets on the score sheet, but he could offer some crosses, and the potential for a clean sheet is there as well.

Abdou Diallo ($3.6k/$9)

Diallo is also used as a wingback but unlike Hermoso, Diallo is an offensive threat for PSG. This season, Diallo has nine crosses and an assist for the Parisians. Like Hermoso, we can expect a clean sheet from PSG.

Other Options: Daley Blind ($3.8k/$10), Ruben Vinagre ($3.1k/$6), David Alaba ($5k/$12)

Ssoccer DFS: Goalkeepers

If you are playing cash games then I would stick with either Ederson ($5.7k/$13) or Keylor Navas ($5.8/$14). They both will be in line for clean sheets, the only downside is if they give a goal it could be the only shot they see (especially Navas).

Maarten Stekelenburg ($5k/$10)

Stekelenburg is slightly expensive but I think he will go under-owned for a team that should dispatch Sporting Lisbon fairly easily. If you can’t tell, I am really high on Ajax on Wednesday. They have been in great form of late on both sides of the ball.

Peter Gulacsi ($3.8k/$7)

Red Bull Leipzig has been in poor form of late and should see a ton of shots on Wednesday. This is a risky play and is only for GPP’s but could be huge if he can hold Man City to 1-2 goals.

Welcome to my soccer DFS breakdown for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2021!

Sunday night is the final for the 2021 Gold Cup and it will feature the class of CONCACAF. Nobody is surprised that Mexico and the United States are here in the final as it’s the seventh time they will meet in the final in just the sixteen editions of the Gold Cup. The USA is the only team to win every one of their games and has been very impressive. Team USA has been especially outstanding on the defensive side led by their 27-year-old goalkeeper, Matt Turner ($5,400). Mexico has been equally as stout on defense as the Americans, allowing just one goal in their five games. Alfredo Talavera ($6,600) has started four of Mexico’s five games but has not had the workload of the American keeper. Talavera has only made seven saves and allowed one goal in his four appearances. I think Mexico does get the win on Sunday, but I think turner will make 3-4 saves and only allow one goal in this game. My prediction is Mexico wins 1-0 in 90 minutes, or this game goes to penalties.

Soccer DFS:

Since it seems like we might have a low-scoring game on Sunday, I want to focus on the players who do all the ancillary things instead of goal hunting. There are two players in particular that I want to lock in are Jesus Corona ($10,400) from Mexico and Sebastian Lletget ($7,800) from the USA. Both players are solid wings who are involved in the build-up for their team’s offenses. Corona in particular is a crossing machine with 43 in five games this tournament and Lletget is no slouch with 20 of his own in four games.

Defensive plays:

Shaq Moore ($6,200) and Sam Vines ($6,000) have been solid DFS plays for Team USA on defense with both pushing up the field. Vines and Moore each have goal-scoring potential as both have put one in during this tournament. Even when they don’t score they still put up points. For Mexico, it’s Luis Rodriguez ($7,000) on the backend that I want to use on Sunday. Similar to Moore and Vines, Rodriguez fills up the score sheet with fringe points but also factors into the scoring.

Value Plays:

Looking to find some value, I keep landing on Edson Alvarez ($3,400) from Mexico. Alvarez has not gotten on the score sheet but does average 6.2 DKFP per game. That number is not very high, but he is super cheap and will make it much easier to fit Corona in at captain which is my preferred play. On the US side of the value, I like Miles Robinson ($3,800) as a value play.

Lastly, if you have the salary, Rogelio Funes Mori ($10,200) is Mexico’s best goal scorer this tournament and is someone I will look to fit in. Funes Mori doesn’t just score goals, he can put up some of the aforementioned ancillary points as well. Funes Mori does have three goals but also has 23 shots taken and twelve shots on gold.

Welcome to my soccer DFS breakdown for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2021!

Saturday night starts the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup with two very intriguing matchups. First, unbeaten Qatar takes on El Salvador who went 2-0-1 in their three games conceding just once in their loss to Mexico. In the late game, Mexico takes on Honduras, whose only loss was to aforementioned Qatar. Both of these games feature teams with high-scoring offenses, but also stout defenses.

Soccer DFS:

Qatar vs El Salvador

Qatar scored 9 goals in their three games, meanwhile El Salvador only scored four goals. Qatar tended to get things going early, scoring the majority of their goals in the first hour of play. In contrast, El Salvador scored all but one of their goals in the last 15 minutes of play. I am trying to say that this game could come down to the wire.

Qatar:

Qatar is my pick to win this game and potentially keep a clean sheet as well. El Salvador is not a high-powered offense and as I mentioned tends to sit back and wait for their chance to strike late on a tired defensive backline.

One player who is going to be a lock for my builds will be Akram Afif ($11,800, cpt: $17,700). Afif has been the best fantasy option when it comes to Qatar and should be the highest-scoring player in this game. I know he is expensive, but playing him at the captain’s spot will be a contrarian play and the difference-maker. Some value options in this game will make getting Afif at the captain’s spot doable. Abdelaziz Hatim ($6,800) is one of the better plays from Qatar in this matchup. Hatim has been great for Qatar as a wing and has been very involved in their offense. In the group stage, Hatim scored twice, had 8 total shots and two shots on goal. One of the best parts about him is that Hatim is listed as a defenseman but plays the midfield, so if Qatar gets the clean sheet, he picks up an additional 3 points for this. If you think like I do and that Qatar keeps a third straight clean sheet, then playing their keeper, Meeshal Barsham ($7,200), will be a key player in your builds. We need to see the lineup first, but both Boualem Khoukhi ($3,600) and Karim Boudiaf ($3,200) could be vital in getting Afif in as captain.

El Salvador:

Bryan Tamacas ($5,800) is El Salvador’s highest-scoring fantasy player this tournament so far but did not get into their final game, coincidentally their only loss. I think we see Tamacas back in the lineup for El Salvador on Saturday. El Salvador has only conceded one goal in this tournament and in GPP’s I like using their keeper, Mario Gonzalez ($5,200). There is a chance that El Salvador keeps this game close and Gonzalez make 3-4 saves while only letting 1 goal in which make him great value at probably very low ownership. Darwin Ceren ($4,400) is another inexpensive player that has a small upside. If you are looking to play 1-2 cheap players from this side, then you are banking on big production from your higher end Qatar players so you aren’t expecting a huge day out of someone like Ceren anyway. If you do have salary to spend and want to pay up, which I think will be contrarian, then my favorite play is Joshua Perez ($8,000). Perez hasn’t netted a goal or assist yet, he is involved in the offense some. Perez has taken or assisted on good amount of El Salvador’s shots, and since he plays up top there is always a chance he gets one in.

Mexico vs Honduras

Both teams have a lot of fire power and scored plent of goals in their group stage games. Mexico scored four goals in their final two games after getting shutout in their first games. As for Honduras, they scored seven goals in their first two games before being shutout by Qatar in game three.

Mexico:

After not showing up in the game against Trinidad, Orbelin Pineda ($9,000, cpt: 13,500) has been a monster for Mexico. Pineda can both score and get points without getting on the score sheet as well. In the last two games Pineda has drawn 9 fouls, taken 8 shots, and landed 4 on goal. Luis Rodriguez ($8,600, cpt: $12,900) has been the most consistent player in DFS for Mexico and another player I want to make sure I roster on Saturday. Like Pineda, Rodriguez gets his points either by getting a goal or assist or sending 8 crosses in. Both Hector Herrera ($9,400) and Jesus Corona ($10,800) are great high priced plays as well Saturda. As for some cheap options, my favorite is probably Edson Alvarez ($4,600). Another really cheap play is Nelson Araujo ($3,400), but I would reserve him as a last resort for savings.

Honduras:

Romell Quioto ($7,000, cpt: 10,500) is an option I like for the captains spot to be different since I think most will flock to the Mexican side of this game. Quioto has scored three goals so far this tournament, but did pick up an injury in their loss to Qatar, so wee need to see the lineup first. If Quioto is out, Jerry Bengston ($6,000) would be a good cheaper option who can score. Alexander Lopez ($8,200) is the best fantasy option for Honduras, a little more expensive than I’d like to make him the captain, but I plan on rostering him on Saturday. Deybi Flores ($3,800) is a great cheap option from Honduras. He doesn’t do a lot, but he’s played every minute for this team and does manage to get up the field and be involved in the offense.
