We’re FINALLY back with another Wednesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! We had a nice run of form as of late, lets keep it up! Tonight we have a very small 2-gamer for tonight’s slate! Keep an eye on any COVID-19 news since it can change the whole outlook of the slate! With that said, let’s get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 1/5 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

1/5 NHL Stack Report

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs 1
    Bunting – Matthews – Marner (FanDuel: $21,700 | DraftKings: $18,900)
Hard to ignore the top line of the night. Edmonton is in complete disarray, from missing their star player to having severe goalie/locker room issues they are coming into tonight with a lot of extra baggage. Despite a small COVID scare earlier this week, Toronto will be coming into tonight with a nearly full strength line up and that is just a recipe for disaster for the Oilers. Toronto is near the top of the league in all offensive stats while the Oilers are near the bottom in both Goals allowed and Shots on goal allowed. Both teams are also on completely different trajectories with Toronto winning their last three for a 7-2-1 record over their last 10, while Edmonton has dropped their last four for a 2-6-2 record over their last ten. It should be no surprise that Toronto is the biggest favourite of the slate at -300 and have the highest implied total at 3.9. I would highly recommend prioritizing Toronto tonight, especially their top line.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Morgan Rielly (FD: $7,000 | DK: $5,900)

    Honorable Mentions in order: TOR2 (Nylander-Tavares-Kerfoot), STL2 (Tarasenko-Thomas-Kyrou), PIT1 (Rust-Crosby-Guentzel), PIT2 (Rodrigues-Carter-Kapanen), EDM2 (Foegele-Draisaitl-Yamamoto)

1/5 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Jack Campbell (FD: $8,600 | DK: $8,100)
  2. Jordan Binnington (FD: $7,800 | DK: $7,500)

Worst (Goalies to Target)

  1. Casey DeSmith (FD: $8,300 | DK: $7,800)

1/5 NHL Wild Card Targets

Ilya Mikheyev (FD: $4,500 | DK: $2,500)
Ilya Mikheyev has not had the best luck this season as he began the season with a thumb injury and after just one game back went on COVID protocol. He is now back at 100% and in his last game he put away two goals including an incredible effort on a short-handed goal that showed off his killer speed and skilled mitts. Mikheyev is coming in cheap on both sites and considering the current price constraints for players on FanDuel, guys like Mikheyev can offer some breathing room to build the rest of your lineups, without compromising on quality. Mikheyev gets time on the second power-play unit (stacks with Sandin and/or Bunting) but also works as a one-off play.
Honorable Mention(s): Robert Thomas, Kasperi Kapanen

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Auston Matthews

Winger Ilya Mikheyev

Defence Torey Krug

Goalie Jack Campbell

We’re back with a brand new Sunday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Hope you all had an amazing New Years Celebration! Tonight, we have a small 4-game slate. So, let’s get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 1/2 NHL slate, the slate begins at 3:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

1/2 NHL Stack Report

  1. Colorado Avalanche 2
    Burakovsky – Kadri – Compher (FanDuel: $21,100 | DraftKings: $19,600)
Its really hard to ignore the offensive dominance Colorado has shown on ice this season, even through their injury troubles they have still found ways to score. Unsurprisingly, Colorado currently leads the league in goals per game at 4.22 and is coming into tonight with the highest implied total of the slate at 3.8. Although Gibson is a good goalie, it’s hard to combat the overall offensive firepower of the Avalanche. With the price of Colorado’s top line, even though they are an amazing option, its hard to comfortably stack more than two of them. So, Colorado’s second line works as a more affordable yet just as potent offensive option. The second line is led by Nazem Kadri who currently leads the Avalanche in points at 38, which also lands him at 7th in the league in points. Kadri is having a stellar season so far and pairing him up with affordable linemates is a solid way to go when approaching your builds for today’s slate.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Cale Makar (Bowen Byram works as a salary saver) (FD: $7,200 | DK: $7,500)
  2. Calgary Flames 1
    Tkachuk – Lindholm – Gaudreau (FanDuel: $21,700 | DraftKings: $14,100)
The Flames top line has really been taking control over the entire Flames offensive output over the past couple of games. Last game alone, Gaudreau and Tkachuk put together 6 points. The top line also play together on Calgary’s top power play unit. Tonight they will be up against a tired Blackhawks team who was lit up for 6 goals against yesterday against the Nashville Predators. This also means that in all likelihood, the Blackhawks will be turning to current starting netminder Colin Delia, who has had a terrible season over his first two games as he currently sits at a 9.00 GAA with a .571 SV%. If the Blackhawks move away from Delia and start Soderblum instead, they are in even bigger trouble as Soderblum also let three goals in last night, including the first shot he faced. Calgary’s implied total is comfortably set at 3.1 and considering their good matchup tonight, I would recommend having some shares of Calgary’s top line in your builds tonight, especially if Soderblum starts for the Hawks.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Rasmus Andersson (FD: $4,200 | DK: $4,900)

    Honorable Mention(s): NJD2 (Bratt-Hughes-Sharangovich), COL1 (Rantanen-MacKinnon-Laneskog), VGK2 (Smith-Karlsson-Marchessault) WPG1 (Stasny-Schiefele-Ehlers)

1/2 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Jacob Markstrom (FD: $7,500 | DK: $7,900)
  2. Darcy Kuemper (FD: $7,700 | DK: $8,100)
    Honorable Mention(s): Ilya Samsonov

Worst (Goalies to Target)

  1. Colin Delia (FD: $7,300 | DK: $7,200)

1/2 NHL Wild Card Targets

Yegor Sharangovich (FD: $4,100 | DK: $2,800)
Sharangovich is in a great spot tonight alongside linemates Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt. The trio have been performing extremely well as of late and Sharangovich is coming into tonight’s game with a three-game point streak, where he’s managed to put up two goals and two assists over that time. Sharangovich is also finding a lot of opportunities in front of the net as he has put 8 shots on goal over his last two games. The Devils are in tough tonight against the Washington Capitals but Sharangovich is a cheap option with lots of value and a high upside.
Honorable Mention(s): Paul Stastny, Mattias Janmark, Oliver Kylington, Henrik Borgstrom, Devon Toews, Sean Monahan

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Nazem Kadri

Winger Johnny Gaudreau

Defenseman – Zach Whitecloud

Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot where I’ll be highlighting some of my top plays for tonight’s NHL DFS slate on Fanduel and DraftKings.  Today we have a split slate.  A 5 game slate starting at 1 pm EST, and then a 4 game slate at 7 pm EST that includes this year’s NHL Winter Classic.

Goaltending – Early Slate

Linus Ullmark ($8.3k DK/$8k FD) vs. Buffalo Sabres – Ullmark is a bit more than I typically spend on a goalie, but the spot this afternoon is just too much to pass up.  Coming out of the extended Christmas break, the Sabres have only scored 4 goals in 2 games.  The 2 goals per game are pretty much in line with the whole month of December as they averaged just 2.1 goals per game in 10 games played.

Ullmark has played pretty sparingly this season, but when he’s played he’s been pretty good.  In the 6 games he’s played since November 20, he’s been under 15 DK points just once.  In those 6 games, he has 2 games over 30 DK points.  I can easily envision him getting around the 25 point mark tonight against one of the more low-powered offenses in the NHL.

Sergei Bobrovsky ($8.5k DK/$8.5k FD) vs. Montreal Canadiens – Like Ullmark, Bobrovsky is in the salary range I tend to stay away from.  That said, he too is in just a great spot.  In the month of December, the Canadiens scored just 1.67 goals per game in their 9 contests.

Bobrovsky hasn’t been overly sharp this year.  He’s given up at least 3 goals in all but 3 contests this year.  This is a great bounce-back spot for him though with how poorly the Canadiens have been.

Ilya Sorokin ($7.5k DK/$8.4k FD) vs. Edmonton Oilers – I like this play much better on DK than FD and this is strictly a GPP play as Edmonton can score goals in bunches.  It’s not safe by any means.  Sorokin has quietly put together a very solid season.  On the year he has a 2.49 GAA and a .926 save percentage.

If we look at his season as a whole, he’s had one dud and that was all the way back on November 16 vs. the Panthers.  He scored under 13 DK points just once in the month of December.  This is the Oilers third road game in 4 days and I expect to see some tired legs out of them.  Sorokin is a risky play this afternoon, but he’s been solid all year and we aren’t paying an arm and a leg for him.

Stacks – Early Slate

Carolina 1 (Aho/Niederreiter/Teravainen) + Slavin

Columbus is one of my favorite teams to stack against when playing NHL DFS.  They’ve been giving up goals in droves this season.  During the month of December, their opponents scored more than 3.5 goals per game against them.  A lot of this has been due to how poorly defensively they’ve been playing.  No team on the early slate gave up more high danger chances per game in December than the Blue Jackets at 12.67.  Giving up that many high-quality chances is just asking for trouble.

With the Hurricanes healthy post their covid outbreak, they’re back to being a high-powered offense.  This trio is where the offense starts.  Of the 4 goals the Hurricanes scored on Thursday, 3 came from this line, and the line combined for 5 total points.  They should have no problem replicating that today against a poor defensive team.  My favorites on this line are Niederreiter and Teravainen as they are the cheaper parts to it.  Over $8k for Aho is a lot, but if you can afford it, go for it.

Florida Power Play 1 (Barkov/Duclair/Huberdeau/Reinhart/Weegar)

No team has given up more power-play goals in the NHL this season than the Montreal Canadiens.  They are currently tied with the Canucks with 31 power-play goals against.  The majority of this power-play unit plays together on the second line so if you want to save some money, you can certainly cut out Barkov.

My preferences here with forwards are Duclair and Huberdeau.  Duclair has 3 goals in his last 4 games and Huberdeau has 7 points in 5 games.  The two of them plus Weegar should be able to put up some damage today.

Islanders 2 (Pageau/Beauvillier/Dal Colle) + Dobson

I’ve given 2 pretty high-priced stacks in Carolina and Florida.  Although I love the Islanders’ first line, we need to find some salary savings.  We can get that with the second line of the Islanders today.  I love the Oilers.  They have 2 of the best players in the NHL on their team.  That said, they are awful defensively.  During the month of December, they gave up 3.73 goals per game.  That’s top of any team on this afternoon slate.  It’s bad, very bad.

This second line should get Beauvillier back today as he cleared Covid protocols yesterday.  This season has been a bit of a struggle for Beauvillier and Pageau as they have combined for just 9 goals this season.  That said, they’re in a great matchup today and one of these guys should be able to put the puck in the back of the net.

Other stacks (Bos 1, NYI 1, Car 2, Fla 1, Edm 1, Nash 1)

Top Defenseman

  • Noah Dobson
  • Mackenzie Weegar
  • Jacob Slavin
  • David Savard
  • Jake McCabe
  • Charlie McAvoy
  • Darnell Nurse

Evening Slate Notes

I’m not as big of a fan of the evening slate as I am with the early slate. That said, I love hockey and will probably still throw in a lineup.  With goaltending, we shouldn’t get fancy.  He’ll be highly owned, but Thatcher Demko is playing amazing right now.  He’s won 8 of his last 9 contests and in that stretch, he’s given up 2 goals or less 7 times.  Don’t overthink this one, even though he’ll be very popular.

In terms of stacks for tonight, look no farther than the LA Kings as they get to take on Martin Jones and the Flyers.  The majority of the offense with the Kings comes from their top line of Kopitar, Iafallo, and Kempe.  You’ll also want a piece of Matt Roy if you are playing the Kings.  He’s still priced under $5k on DK which does seem like it’s a bit low for his production of late.

I’ll also want to grab a piece of the NHL’s Winter Classic between the Wild and the Blues.  This should be a fun game as both offenses have been pretty good of late.  You could make a case for a game stack here.  For St Louis, their second line is where I always start.  Robert Thomas is back and is still at just $3.7k on DK.  I love pairing him with Tarasenko tonight.

On the Wild side of things, I’d go Hartman and Kaprizov.  The only concern though is they are very pricey.  A cheap way to get some extra exposure to them is to pair them with Alex Goligoski.  He plays with them on the top power-play unit and is also on the top defensive unit.  His cost is only $3,300 and has been producing of late.  He’s been under 10 DK points just once in his last 4.

When setting NHL lineups today, make sure you are using our optimizer.

Good luck and hope to see you in the green!

We’re FINALLY back with another Wednesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! We had a nice long layoff over the holidays and the NHL is finally back! Tonight we have a medium-sized 6-gamer for tonight’s slate! Keep an eye on any COVID-19 news since it can change the whole outlook of the slate! With that said, let’s get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 12/29 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

12/29 NHL Stack Report

  1. Florida Panthers 2
    Reinhart – Bennett – Huberdeau (FanDuel: $21,600 | DraftKings: $21,300)
The Panthers are rightfully the biggest favourite of tonight’s slate and have finally had all their lines put back together following injuries and COVID protocol. That being said, Florida’s top line with Duclair-Barkov-Verhaeghe is a solid option but I am leaning toward the second line as they have been much more consistent as a group compared to Barkov who puts up points but not always alongside his linemates. Also, Huberdeau and Reinhart are among the top three in their team’s scoring chart with Huberdeau coming in at 7th in the league for scoring. That’s just bad news for the Rangers who have finally got their starting goalie Igor Shesterkin from a lower body injury he sustained back on Dec 3rd. Now, although I think Shesterkin is a solid goalie who I usually wouldnt target, tonight he is coming back for his first game in almost a month, against the Panthers. The Panthers rightfully have one of the highest implied totals of the slate at 3.5 and are in a prime position to capitalize and get themselves out of their current three game skid.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Aaron Ekblad (FD: $6,700 | DK: $7,400)
  2. Philadelphia Flyers 1
    Lindblom – Giroux – Atkinson (FanDuel: $16,100 | DraftKings: $13,800)
Truth be told the Flyers have not had the best of season but this line has been a bright spot in what has largely been a forgettable season overall. Tonight, however, the Flyers are also in a decent spot. Despite coming in as an underdog, they’ll be up against the Seattle Kraken who have had serious trouble with keeping the puck out of their net coming in the near the bottom of the league in goals allowed per game at 3.57. Their goalie, Philipp Grubauer is coming into tonight with an abysmal 3.29 GAA and a .882 SV%. Last time these two teams faced off, Philadelphia smoked the Kraken 6-1 and on top of that Seattle is currently on a four-game home skid. Giroux plays on the Flyers top power play line while Atkinson and Lindblom play together on the second unit. The Flyers should come in here underowned and in a great spot.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Ivan Provorov (FD: $4,300 | DK: $5,000)

    Honorable Mention(s): EDM1 (Hyman-McDavid-Yamamoto), NSH1 (Johansen-Granlund-Forsberg), STL1 (Tarasenko-Thomas-Buchnevich)

12/29 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Thatcher Demko (FD: $7,700 | DK: $7,300)
  2. Juuse Saros (FD: $7,400 | DK: $7,200)
    Honorable Mention: Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen

Worst (Goalies to Target)

  1. Philipp Grubauer (FD: $7,300 | DK: $8,000)

12/29 NHL Wild Card Targets

Joel Farabee (FD: $4,500 | DK: $3,400)
There weren’t a lot of solid Wild Card targets for today’s slate outside the main plays we have listed but Joel Farabee is an interesting option as he is coming into tonight against the same questionable defense of Seattle that the top line is facing off against, but he’s coming into tonight with four goals over his last five games and in the game he didn’t score in, he barely played. There has been a bit of a layoff between games but if you’re looking to break away from Philly’s top line in that game, Farabee could be a cheap and intriguing option on the Wing.
Honorable Mention(s): Robert Thomas, Nicklas Backstrom, Jordan Eberle

Winger Jonathan Huberdeau

We’re back with what will be the last article til Christmas. A rise in COVID-19 cases around the league have led to the NHL taking a pause, so tonight we only have two games and keep an eye on both as they could drop off the card at any moment. So, let’s get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 12/21 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

12/21 NHL Stack Report

  1. Vegas Golden Knights 1
    Pacioretty – Stephenson – Dadonov (FanDuel: $21,500 | DraftKings: $16,900)
Vegas has been playing some unreal hockey as of late and are coming into tonight’s home game on a five game winning streak. This matchup promises to be some of the best hockey we have seen to this point as both Vegas and Tampa are barely leading in their respective division and want to take that positive momentum into the new year. Both teams are offensively talented but statistically Vegas has a clear edge in offensive stats with the Lightning excelling more in the defensive stats. This line is especially favorable on DraftKings where you get a discount on Pacioretty’s linemates. As this is a two gamer there aren’t many top lines to choose from and frankly its between Vegas’ top line and Washington. Both are viable tonight but in terms of DFS I like what I’ve been seeing out of Patches’ line a little more.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Shea Theodore (FD: $6,100 | DK: $5,100)

    Honorable Mention(s): WAS1 (Ovechkin-Eller-Wilson), PHI2 (Atkinson-Giroux-Lindblom)

12/21 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Robin Lehner (FD: $8,100 | DK: $7,800)
    Honorable Mention: Ilya Samsonov

Worst (Goalies to Target)

  1. Carter Hart (FD: $7,800 | DK: $7,500)

12/21 NHL Wild Card Targets

Evgenii Dadonov (FD: $4,700 | DK: $3,100)
Because of Mark Stone’s injury, Dadonov has now found himself a spot on Vegas’ top line. Although Dadonov has struggled to find scoring consistently this season, his move to play alongside one of the league’s top talents in Max Pacioretty will benefit him greatly in tonight’s game. Because of his price and stackability with Pacioretty, I would strongly recommend considering Dadonov for your builds tonight.
Honorable Mention(s): Lars Eller, Anthony Cirelli

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Winger Max Pacioretty

Winger Alex Ovechkin

Defence Shea Theodore

Goalie Robin Lehner
