Win Daily Sports: Monkey Knife NBA Fight Plays 5.26

More or Less:

Embiid: Under, Westbrook: Over

I was pretty quick to tell folks to pump the brakes for DFS when it comes to Westy in the playoffs but that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have value and when it comes to this assist total please sign me up all day. The triple double are gone now that it is the postseason but the assist totals are as great as ever. Russ is about as close as you can get to a lock for 12+ assists a game. On the other side Joel Embiid is a big reason why those rebound totals are not there but while I feel fine saying he can give us 30 tonight, I think 33 is just a touch too high. It looks like it is Tobias Time this series as he took 29 shots in game one and I do not see why they would change what works. The 76’ers are by far the better team in my opinion also and if they manage to get ahead big in game two they won’t risk leaving the big man out there longer that necessary.

More or Less:

Embiid: Under, Beal: Over

Already gave my thoughts on Embiid. But as far as Beal goes we’re getting him at almost a full point under his average, in what is close to a must win situation. He could very easily clear 30 shots tonight and play 40+ minutes.

More or Less:

Randle: Over, Young: Over

Randle has not looked great from the field. Maybe it is just nerves, maybe it is the standard “defense is tougher in the playoffs”. Whatever the reason the last two games he has shot almost 175 points lower from the field over his seasonal average (.275 vs .452). If he takes 23 shots like he did the other night and improves his % only to .350% he clears 25 points and while Atlanta is improved with Capela underneath Randle is still a stud. Trae on the other hand we know he’s gonna shoot all night. he plays 35-40 minutes and takes 25-30 shots and this line is at least five points off. At least.

Win Daily Sports: Monkey Knife NBA Fight Plays 5.25

More or Less: Celtics at Brooklyn

Tatum: Over Durant: Over

When we sat down to watch game one of this series the last thing any of us expect was the game ending with a 197 total yet that is what we got. I know that I repeat myself over and over again when I say that defense tightens up in the playoff but game one was a bit of a fluke Durant led the Nets taking 25 shots and scored 32 points on what was honestly not the best shooting performance (10-25/.400 FG%. Season FG% .532). Harden looks more than happy taking a step back and letting Kyrie and KD handle the load so I expect 22-25 shots again tonight. Tatum just flat out looked bad finishing with 6-20 and an abysmal .300 FG%, over .150 lower than his .456 FG% average on the season. I expect both of these guys to be way closer to the mean now that they are settling in for the series.

More or Less: Lakers at Suns

Devin Booker: Over Lebron James: Under

Call me a hater all you want but Lebron simply does not have to function in the same takeover fashion with the Lakers as he did with the Cavs and all flops aside, he is dinged up, a year older, and he has more miles on his body than anyone else in the NBA right now. Add a stifling Suns defense to the mix and I do not expect him to reach his seasonal average of 25 points. For those of you who don’t know, the other guy is Devin Booker. He is good at basketball and has been for years. Most people just never watched him play because the Suns have been garbage for years. CP3 is almost certainly still hurting whether or not he is on the injury report so my expectation is even more of the usage will get passed to Devin and if you’re telling me Devin is going to shoot the ball 26+ times a game 29 points is the bare minimum I would expect him to score.

More or Less: Star Shootout All Day

Tatum: Over Doncic: Over

I already talked about Tatum but just a quick reminder it is him, Kemba, and Evan Fournier as the main scoring threats. There is no Jaelyn Brown in case you’ve forgotten. Now on to Luka. YOU PLAY PRIMARY BALL HANDLERS AGAINST THE CLIPPERS, PERIOD. “Playoff P” is back so I only expect things to get worse from here from a defensive perspective for the Clippers as the entire starting 5 finished with a combined real +/- of -70 and not a single starter was better than -6. Luka can and will continue to carry this Mavericks team on his back and while guys like Porzingis and Hardaway Jr can provide some scoring on their own we all know who’s show it is.

Tonight’s NBA GPP Picks 5/24 slate will bring us just two games. It will be Miami vs Milwaukee and Portland vs Denver. As far as I know, there is no injury news to watch with Will Barton already ruled out. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a surprise Covid situation so make sure you pop in Discord Chat throughout the day. Join the WinDaily staff and me in there talking tonight’s basketball games and hop in our MLB chat as well. I’ll keep it short and sweet today so let’s roll into our picks.

Today will be different because of the two-game slate. I will break down my top game stack for tonight’s slate using DraftKings pricing.

Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 5/24

Portland vs Denver

Portland
Damian Lillard – ($9,500)

In-game one it was certainly Dame time and I will ride that train again. He played 40 minutes, shot 25 times, and scored a total of 59 fantasy points. His usage of 35% stood out as it was 10% higher than anyone else on the team. It wasn’t like he was scorching from the field either as he shot 10-25. In my opinion, he is still underpriced which is enough to put him as a centerpiece in my builds.

Jusuf Nurkic – ($6,700)
I watched all of the last game and I saw Jokic eat up Kanter when those two were matched up. That may be a big reason Nurkic played 33 minutes and I would expect him to again. The Former teammate of Jokic holds his own against the MVP candidate, which should solidify his minutes on the floor this series. I know one game was the season finale but Nurkic has scored 42 fantasy points or greater in two straight games against Denver. Since he is guarding Jokic there is foul trouble potential here but he’s got a 40-point upside with those minutes.

Honorable Mention – Norman Powell and Anfernee Simons

Denver

Michael Porter Jr. – ($7,000)
MPJ is the clear-cut number two option as long as Barton is out. In-game one Porter took 21 shots in route to a 28.5% usage rate. With that, he scored just shy of 40 fantasy points falling one rebound shy of a double-double. The Blazers have been the second-worst defensive squad all season so buckets against them aren’t hard to come by.

Austin Rivers – ($3,800)
There is nothing fancy about this play other than the value with minutes. In-game one Rivers was trusted to play 33 minutes and logged 20 fantasy points. If he continues to play that many minutes against the second-worst defense in the league you cannot ignore him at this price. With those minutes Rivers provides a floor that won’t hurt a lineup and on a two-game slate with limited cheap options, I will take it. I do believe Monte Morris is also in play at just $100 more you get more shot attempts but fewer minutes.

Miami vs Milwaukee

Miami

Jimmy Butler – ($8,500)

I will try to fit Jimmy in with those other four up top. He owned a 30% usage rate in game one and scored 47 fantasy points but shot only 4-22 from the field. If he makes two more of those shots he is above 50 fantasy points and 6-22 is still pretty bad. The pace up spot helps Jimmy with rebounds and I believe he will flirt with a triple double most of this series.

Goran Dragic – ($5,000)

In game one Dragic played 35 minutes on his way to over 30 fantasy points. He was third on the team in usage just above 25% while taking 17 shot attempts. The Bucks rank second fastest in pace this season which is a massive pace up spot for Dragic and the Heat. That 5K price tag is too cheap for me if he is going to play more than 30 minutes.

Honorable Mention – Trevor Ariza

Milwaukee

Jrue Holiday – ($7,700)

If I play anyone from the Bucks side it is Holiday who has scored over 43 fantasy points and recorded a double-double in three straight games. Holiday and Middleton were basically tied in usage behind Giannis last game at 24.5%. The Buck point guard gets peripheral stats at a solid clip to provide a solid floor. He is also the cheapest of Milwaukee’s primary usage guys. The Heat slow the pace enough and do a good job defending him for me to play him in game two. I believe Dame can get me near the same ceiling in his matchup for over a thousand less.

Honorable Mention – Brook Lopez
Closing Bombcarlo’s NBA GPP Picks 5/24
When you plug those four into a lineup it leaves you with $5,750 to play with. That amount of salary will allow you to plug in Holiday, Middleton, or Jimmy Butler from the other game. You would still be left with around $5,000 to spend pending which player you selected. I hope you enjoyed NBA GPP Picks 5/24 and may your screens be green!
