Quick Slate Notes:

Unlike the first slate between these four teams, I don’t think Mbappe is a must. PSG hold a 2-0 lead heading to San Sebastian and while they should score, offense isn’t going to be a priority
Bayern hosting Lazio is the game I want to focus on in DFS and in betting.
Bayern needs to score to have a chance to advance so as the minutes pass they will starting shifting their lines higher up which will leave spaces for the Lazio attack
I expect goals in that game that is why both GKs are listed but not as my core keepers. Provedel should see the most shots of the two so he’ll have plenty of save opportunities
The Sociedad/PSG game feels hard to call, PSG can easy play a slower game as they have a two goal lead and make a Sociedad team who struggles to score control the game

Synopsis:

FWD/MID

You do not need to play any of the top three forwards I mentioned in the “core” section because I think there are cheaper options, but they are all slate-breaking forwards, so I have to include them. The pivots for each player are Dembele for Mbappe, Felix for Lewandowski, and Alvarez/Foden for Haaland. The pivots for the three big names are all threats in the attacking third who can score and assist. Outside of the big three and their pivots, players like O’Riley, Ugrinic, Alberto, and Brandt are all cheaper options if you want to fade players from the bigger teams. There are plenty of options in the FWD and MID sections that can be successful. The YB vs. CZV game feels like it could be the sneakiest game on the slate, as they are two lesser-known sides that most people have never heard of.

DEF

There are not a lot of options that stick out in the defense section. There are a decent number of wingbacks that can move up and down the field and should get points both on the attack and while defending. I included the ones that I think have the best chance to finish with the most points.

GK

For goalkeepers, the two keepers from the Lazio vs. Celtic game feel like great plays. That game is even, which means both sides should have chances to attack and both keepers should see plenty of shots. The YB vs. CZV game has a similar feel, but I have a feeling that the game wouldn’t see as many saves. Costa and Blaswich are in similar situations, taking on teams that, on paper, are a lot better. They’ll both see a lot of shots, and if they can save 4-5 shots, they’ll finish with solid value even if they allow one or two goals.

Synopsis:

There are plenty of options to choose from in the FWD/MID market. The top of the board has a lot of talent, with players like Kane, Fernandes, and Vini Jr. all having the talent to score and assist. Then you have players like Kimmich, Bellingham, and Sane, who are overall great talents that are crucial to their teams attacking success. I will have at least one of those six players in every lineup. The rest of the players are good options as well, and I’ll be picking and choosing between them to fill up the rest of my spots. Of the remaining, Inter, Arsenal, and PSV players are the best options, as they have the best chances to win outside of Bayern, who have three players in the six I listed at the start.

The goalkeeper situation for this UCL slate is interesting. Outside of Ulreich with Bayern, every other goalkeeper doesn’t have a great shot at ending the game with a clean sheet. But that’s not to say they don’t have high-scoring potential. The games involving Sevilla, Manchester United, Benfica, and Napoli all have high attacking scripts, which means a lot of save potential for both their goalies and their opponents. All seven goalkeepers I listed have the potential to end the day as the GK1 of the slate.

Synopsis:

This slate is better to build because we are missing the slate-breaking potential of Haaland and Mbappe. But what we do have for Wednesday is a lot of good DFS plays. There are three games on this slate with an implied goal total of three or more goals. The three games are Arsenal/PSV, Bayern/Utd, and Benfica/RB Salzburg. Of those three games, the two I would focus on the most by using both sides are the Arsenal and Bayern games. PSV will be a difficult test for Arsenal as they have the attacking power to compete with players Saka and Ødegaard. The Bayern against Manchester United game favors the German side thanks to the addition of Harry Kane, but United does have a few players like Eriksen and Fernandes that can help keep the game close. The Benfica game, which has a three-goal implied total, should be a one-sided affair, so I would focus solely on the Portuguese side.

On the defensive side, there are plenty of players with attacking potential on the slate. Players like Davies, Navas, and Bah do very well down the wing. Meanwhile, Silva and Ramos are value options that have goal-scoring potential from set pieces but are also playing for sides that have the best chance at a clean sheet.

Like Vecchio mentioned on Discord, you can play just about any GK on this slate besides Schlager from Salzburg. The four I mentioned are, to me, the best GKs on the slate. The two in the “core” section are goalies that are not facing teams that attack a lot, so while they won’t see many SoGs, they will likely keep their opponents off the score sheet. Ramsdale and Benitez, on the other hand, should see plenty of SOG, which will counter any goals they allow.

Synopsis:

The first UCL slate features what might be the best crop of forwards in the world. Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Robert Lewandowski are all in action. They are all appropriately priced above 11K on DraftKings, which makes lineups difficult to build because all three are capable of breaking a slate. On FanDuel, they are not as expensive, so lineup building is slightly easier using one of the three.

Luckily, we can find some value in being able to build potential takedown lineups. Teams like Porto, Shakhtar, and Dortmund have solid attacking options at discounted prices that fit in with the top three guys. PSG vs. BVB and Porto vs. Shakhtar are the two games that should have the most back-and-forth action.

On the defense side, I wrote down the cheapest CB for both City and Barcelona. They are basically guaranteed three points on DK and five on FD for the clean sheet bonuses. I won’t be playing both in the same lineup, as I think the attacking potential of the players listed in the “core” and “pivot” sections pairs well with them.

The goalkeeper options are pretty cut and dry for the first UCL Group Stage slate. Ederson and ter Stegen are going up against much weaker sides that’ll struggle to do any damage to them. In contests like Cash, SE, and 3Max, I think it’ll be difficult to go to any other keeper. My favorite pivots off of them are Oblak and Wellenreuther, as they are both good keepers who should see a handful of shots on goal, so they’ll finish with a couple of saves.
