9/19 DFS Hitting Picks and Stacks: Twins Will Get You Wins

We’ve got a split slate for 9/19 DFS: DraftKings has a six-game slate that starts at 6:35, while FanDuel is excluding the Angels-Yankees again and starting a four-gamer at 7:05. We’re focusing on three stacks and just a couple contrarian builds, as well as our usual buffet of hitters at every position. Let’s get rolling, because the Yanks and Twins will get you wins!

9/19 DFS Hitting Stacks ofthe Day

Minnesota Twins vs. Mike Montgomery

The Twins were a total dud on Wednesday night against the fullWhite Sox bullpen, scoring just one run on three hits across nine boringinnings. Today is a great day for a rebound, as the Royals left-hander can beexposed by hitters from both sides of the plate. Montgomery has been a reversesplits pitcher this season, yielding an amusing .443/.464/.709 slash toopposing LHBs. Over the course of his whole career, the disparity isn’t as noticeable.I like all the Twins here, since they brutalize lefties (.287/.353/.523 slash,.363 wOBA and a 127 wRC+) and will be starting my stacks with Eddie Rosario,Nelson Cruz and Mitch Garver (who’s an insane $5,600 on DK). Add in Miguel Sanoor C.J. Cron on FD and Jorge Polanco on DK.

New York Yankees vs. Andrew Heaney (DK)

I was little concerned about the Yankees rolling out an unorthodoxlineup with the division clinched, but Tampa came back and beat the Dodgers! They’llbe hungry for their 100^th win of the season and thirsty forchampagne on their home turf, but they’ll be facing a left-hander who’s pitchedquite well in 2019. Their salaries are a little low because of the matchup, butHeaney isn’t enough to keep me off them. I’ll be using a lot of Mike Clevinger withMasahiro Tanaka/Kyle Gibson/Drew Verhagen, so there will be plenty of combosthat will allow me to stack D.J. LeMahieu ($4,600), Gleyber Torres ($4,700), AaronJudge ($4,500), Gio Urshela ($4,300) and Luke Voit ($4,400) though I’ll only begrabbing a few shares of Giancarlo Stanton at his outrageous price ($5,400)

Toronto Blue Jays at Gabriel Ynoa

I said Tuesday the Blue Jays would be a sneaky stack, and CavanBiggio responded by hitting for the cycle. They’re not as sneaky this timearound, since they battled with Baltimore last night as the teams combined for21 runs. Ynoa is 1-8 with a 5.74 ERA and 1.40 WHIP, and he’s given up 25 homeruns in just 100.1 IP. All the usual suspects make sense here, with the 1-5hitters as the priority bats.

Austin Romine, NYY vs. LAA

DK ($3,600)

Pay $2,000 more for Mitch Garver on DK if you want, but if youwant some cheap exposure to the Yankees, blend Romine into your Yankees stacks.He’s slashing .281/.312/.438 this season and sports an impressive .172 ISO vs.LHPsthis season. Romine isn’t the most exciting option, but we need to save a littleit of salary somewhere, and if we’re not paying way up or Garver, Romine makessense.

9/19 DFS Hitting FirstBaseman

Rowdy Tellez or JustinSmoak, TOR at BAL

DK (both$3,900) FD ($2,600/$2,700)

Since Tellez sat on Tuesday and ruined all my work recommendinghim, I’ll bring you up to speed: Rowdy scored three runs on Wednesday and isstill destroying right-handed pitching (.209 ISO this season). It’s usuallyeither him or Justin Smoak in the lineup, and I like them both in Baltimore’sbandbox. Smoak boasts a .231 ISO vs. RHPs in 2019.

9/19 DFS Hitting SecondBaseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($5.300) FD($3,900)

Biggio hit for the cycle on Tuesday and is the one Jays bat I wantin all my GPP lineups. I touted is speed and power abilities and he respondedby doing what five-tool platers do – mashing and slashing. Biggio is 14-for-29 overhis last seven games with 133 DK points over that span (19 FPPG). And his .112wRC+ this season is in the top 10 among 2B.

9/19 DFS Hitting ThirdBaseman

D.J. LeMahieu, NYY vs. LAA

(DK $4,600)

LeMahieu is having an MVP-caliber season for the Yankeeswith a wRC+ of 136 and a torrid slash line of .329/.378/.515. He’s ben their steadiestplayer and has flashed impressive power (.186 ISO) against both LHPs and RHPs. His.402 wOBA and 154 wRC+ in Yankee Stadium is tops on the team, and he’ll be inmost of my lineups tonight.

9/19 DFSHitting Shortstop

Gleyber Torres, NYY vs. LAA

DK ($4,700)

Lindor was a complete disappointment Tuesday, so I’ll be goingback to him in about 2/10 lineups, but the rest of them will have shares of Torresat SS or 2B, where he’s also eligible. Torres has a .255 ISO, .353 OBP, .369wOBA and 132 wRC+ vs. LHPs in 2019, and he’s now hitting in the heart of the Yankeeslineup.

9/19 DFS HittingOutfielders

Eddie Rosario, MIN vs. KC

DK ($4,800) FD($3,200)

You can’t keep a great hitter down for long, and Rosario(.281/.313/.453 slash vs. LHPs in 2019) is a solid GPP play because he’ll onlybe in about half of the Twins stacks because he’s a lefty bat against a southpaw– a great opportunity against a guy like Montgomery. The Royals starter mightget pulled for a righty after he gets lit up by these Twins, and then your shortsightedDFS opponents will be kicking themselves for not having more exposure to Rosario’s.378 xwOBA against RHPs since 2018.

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. LAA

DK($4,500)

It’s hard to believe this price on Judge, who went deep again onWednesday, but it’s something I’ll be taking advantage of in cash games andGPPS alike. Judge brutalizes lefties, with a .461 wOBA in 120 PA this season,including .347/.467/.663 slash and 8 homers. He hits the ball as hard as anyonewho’s ever played the game, as he sits in the 100^th percentile forExit Velocity and Hard Hit %. Get him in there – he’s primed for a monster day.

Marcell Ozuna, STL vs. CHC

DK ($4,200) FD($3,700)

Ozuna has been relatively quiet lately, so he’s really cheap. Healso has .382 xwOBA this year and has been a much better road hitter this seasonwith a .262/.336/.519 slash and 15 of his 28 HRs in away games. Ozuna also ranksin the 93th percentile for Exit Velocity and 98^th percentile forHard Hit % — and makes for a nice contrarian play vs. a capable hurler in Kyle Hendricks.

C: Reese McGuire ($3,900 DK, $2,800 FD), Mitch Garver ($5,600 DK,$3,000 FD)

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks & Stacks: America Remembers

To type the numbers 9/11 still causes waves of emotions 18 years after our nation endured one of the darkest days in its history.

I can still shut my eyes and remember how the day went for me in the Satellite Operations office of Fox Sports Net and how a long day of gut-wrenching emotions and visuals that still haunt me culminated in my sitting on the floor of my living room crying uncontrollably at 11:30 pm as the National Anthem was played in the backdrop of the names that were confirmed dead.

Obviously, choosing a winning DFS lineup is secondary to the importance of this date. At the same time, the heroism displayed on that warm Tuesday morning in New York City, Washington D.C. and over the skies of Pennsylvania is a strong reminder of how, as Americans, we persist.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Catcher

Mitch Garver, MIN vs. WAS

DK ($5,700), FD ($3,200)

Garver capped his breakout season with his 30th home run of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals. He now has four dingers in his last three games to go along with seven RBI. He’ll enter the day with a 30.5% HR/FB rate and even against Stephen Strasburg, I’d take Garver and his 46.2% hard contact rate. With a 47.7% fly ball rate and a start to September that has seen Garver’s OPS climb above 1.700, he’s a good 9/11 DFS Hitting Picks play behind the plate (although he’ll likely serve as the DH).

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — First Baseman

Matt Olson, OAK at HOU

DK ($4,500), FD ($3,600)

Like Garver, Olson reached the 30-HR barrier on Tuesday, serving as the ring leader of the A’s 21-7 payback to the Astros. Olson swatted a pair of homers, drove in four runs and scored three times to pace what was a 25-hit assault. He’s been locked in of late, having recorded hits in nine of his last 11 games that includes five homers. As hard as Garver has hit the ball, Olson has been more pronounced with his swing, delivering hard contact at a 51.2% rate. You have to like the fact Olson is getting line drives at a solid rate (24.7%) while also driving the ball consistently (43.2% fly ball rate). Chances are good he’ll be facing a taxed Astros pitching staff, making him an even stronger option.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Second Baseman

Ketel Marte, ARI at NYM

DK ($5,300), FD ($4,100)

One game after having a run of at least 21.20 FanDuel points in four of his previous five games, Marte got back on track with a pair of hits on Tuesday. Even with an 0-for-4 on Monday, Marte is hitting .481 (13-for-27) in his last eight games with three homers and 10 RBI. Although he hasn’t hit the Mets well this season, two of his seven hits resulted in slow trots around the bases. Good things indeed do happen when your Isolated Power improves by 90 points (.177 last season, .267 this year). Marte has nearly doubled his HR/FB%, standing currently at 20.4% after a 10.9% output in 2018. His .340 BABIP is yet another reason why he’s a solid 9/11 DFS Hitting Picks member.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Shortstop

Gleyber Torres, NYY at DET

DK ($9,400), FD ($4,000)

With D.J. LeMahieu getting Tuesday off, Torres filled the leadoff role. He proceeded to show why he costs a grip at DraftKings by leading off with his 36th homer of the season, helping to give him his fourth of double-digit scoring at FanDuel in his last five games. Torres has a “modest” .815 OPS against lefties (the Tigers will start southpaw Matthew Boyd tonight) yet his road OPS hovers near .950. He has an OPS over 1.200 over the past week and should be able to maintain his 42% fly ball rate.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Third Baseman

Hunter Dozier, KC at CWS

DK ($4,900), FD ($3,900)

Dozier has multi-hit games in five of his last seven outings and has hit the White Sox well this season. In 48 at-bats against the Pale Hose, Dozier has a .354 batting average with three homers and nine RBI. The ability to draw walks has been a factor in Dozier’s 2019, as he sports a 10.3% walk rate along with elevating his BABIP from .296 last season to .342 this year. His 44.1% fly ball rate plays well in hitter-friendly Guaranteed Rate Park, even against a red-hot hurler like Reynaldo Lopez, who gets the nod for Chicago tonight.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Outfielder

Austin Meadows, TB at TEX

DK ($5,200), FD ($3,900)

With four homers in his last six games, Meadows is putting the Rays on his young back and carrying them closer to the AL Wild Card with each swing. Tuesday marked the sixth time in the last nine games Meadows have produced at least 20 FanDuel points and is on a September tear that has him hitting .536 with eight of his 15 hits going for extra bases. The line drives Meadows hit in the minors are now becoming homers, evidenced by his 18.7% HR/FB rate. If the Rays peg him in the #2 spot, Meadows is a very strong 9/11 DFS Hitting Picks play, as his OPS is at 1.400 when hitting second.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Outfielder

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at PHI

DK ($5,200), FD ($4,000)

A three-hit effort on Tuesday continued Acuna’s success against Phillies pitching this season, as he is now at .357 with three homers, 10 RBI and 18 runs scored against them. Acuna smokes the ball at a 44.8% hard contact rate, but he’s becoming a complete hitter. He’s reduced his pull rate and is more of an all-fields hitter who is at 24.8% in HR/FB rate despite hitting fly balls 37.7% of the time. Philadelphia pitcher Zach Eflin has been an easy mark for Braves hitters this season, allowing 12 earned runs in 5.2 innings, so count on Acuna to help the Atlanta bats as extended batting practice against Eflin.

9/11 DFS Hitting Picks — Outfielder

Wil Myers, SD vs. CHC

DK ($4,100), FD ($2,800)

Myers is looking to finish the season strong, stretching his hitting streak to 10 games on Tuesday night. Myers has added 21 points to his batting average since August 30 and is a bargain play at FanDuel. Keep that in mind as he has also been a solid hitter against lefties, producing an .898 OPS despite a .233 batting average. The recent run has helped boost his walk rate to 10.2% along with one of the few times this season Myers’ 48.3% hard contact rate is being put to good use.

9/11 DFS Hitting Stacks

9/11 Hitting Stack of the Day: Oakland A’s: The Astros will go with righty Jose Urquidy, so stack the Oakland lefty bats starting with Olson. Seth Brown ($3400 FanDuel) should be in the lineup as well. Jurickson Profar ($3900 DraftKings) is a solid stack option, but also keep righty bats Khris Davis (a cheap $2700 at FD) and Marcus Semien ($4600 DK) as options.

9/11 Hitting Stack Runner-Up: Atlanta Braves: As previously mentioned, the Braves have hammered Eflin. Acuna is a lock, but Dansby Swanson ($2800 FD) is a value play. Brian McCann ($3500 DK)gets a favorable lefty/righty matchup as well. You have to like Josh Donaldson ($5100 DK) and Ozzie Albies ($3300 FD) among the buffet table of options.

9/11 Hitting Stack to Consider: Tampa Bay Rays: Texas starter Ariel Jurado has a 6.93 ERA in his last 10 appearances while hitters have teed off on him at a .320 clip and 1.60 WHIP. Meadows is front and center in a stack, with Avisail Garcia ($4300 DK) is a good 9/11 DFS Hitting Picks sleeper.

Whenever we have games spread all throughout the day, I try my best to cater to every DFS player out there. What’s interesting here is that we only have three games during the day, so I’ll only offer up two plays from that slate. That should help DFS players who want to play both schedules and that’s our goal here at Win Daily Sports! So, let’s get into our 8/28 DFS Hitting picks!

8/28 DFS Hitting Catcher

Robinson Chirinos, HOU vs. TB

DK ($3,400) FD ($2,900)

Trying to pick a catcher is always the toughest part of this article but Chirinos is a nice value on this slate. The reason for that is because of his matchup, with the Astros facing Ryan Yarbrough. While the Tampa lefty has been brilliant this season, his 3.89 xFIP indicates that he has some negative regression headed his way. That’s huge for a guy like Chirinos, with the Astros backstop generating a .447 OBP and .982 OPS against southpaws so far this season.

8/28 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Matt Olson, OAK at KC

DK ($4,700) FD ($3,500)

A power hitter like Olson becomes a great pick against a homer-prone pitcher like Jakob Junis. A 4.89 ERA and 1.40 WHIP from Junis is bad enough but his 58 dingers allowed since 2018 is one of the worst marks in baseball too. That’s got to light up Olson’s eyes, with the left-handed slugger posting a .511 SLG and .260 ISO since 2017. He’s been even better against right-handers in that span, tallying a .351 OBP, .543 SLG and .894 OPS against them. Olson is feeling it right now too, amassing a .382 OBP over his last 17 fixtures.

8/28 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Gleyber Torres, NYY at SEA

DK ($4,600) FD ($4,400)

Let’s kick off our day-slate recommendations with the hottest second baseman in the league. This dude has been absolutely ridiculous the last few weeks and it’s scary just how good this 22-year-old kid could be. Over his last 22 games, Torres has 13 homers en route to a .786 SLG and 1.126 OPS, with 10 of those dingers coming in his last 15 fixtures. Those fantastic numbers since the All-Star break have led to a breakout season with 33 dingers in total. Torres has a career .531 SLG and .869 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor too and we definitely have to consider him against a guy like Justus Sheffield.

8/28 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Miguel Sano, MIN at CWS

DK ($5,500) FD ($3,900)

Sano is a favorite of mine and I’m just thrilled to see him hitting so well. A .579 SLG, .923 OPS, .378 wOBA and .332 ISO is obviously all career-highs, as it really shows just how powerful this dude is. His .250 career ISO is still a rather impressive mark and it’s clear that things are finally clicking for the big man. The reason we like him today is because he gets the platoon advantage against a terrible lefty. The Twins face Ross Detwiler, who’s got an unsightly 6.29 ERA and 1.72 WHIP dating back to 2015. That’s why Minnesota is projected for more than six runs, with Sano accumulating a .394 wOBA, .341 ISO, .612 SLG and .966 OPS against left-handers this season.

8/28 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Trevor Story, COL vs. BOS

DK ($5,300) FD ($4,300)

While this isn’t a great matchup against Eduardo Rodriguez, Story is always in play at home against a lefty. Let’s start with his Coors Field numbers, with Story totaling a .326 AVG, .399 OBP, .683 SLG and 1.082 OPS at home this season. That’s pretty close to his numbers against lefties, with the shortstop posting a .383 OBP, .637 SLG and 1.020 OPS since the beginning of 2017. That means he’s hard t fade anytime he faces a lefty at home and Rodriguez surely has to be scared of Coors Field with the Rockies projected for more than six runs.

8/28 DFS Hitting Outfielders

J.D. Martinez, BOS at COL

DK ($5,600) FD ($4,700)

How can this possibly go wrong? Arguably the best pure hitter in baseball hitting in Coors Field is a recipe for success, particularly someone as hot as Martinez. Over his last 48 games, J.D. is putting together a 349 .AVG .420 OBP, .646 SLG and 1.066 OPS. Those are actually not that far off of his season-long numbers and he should do some serious damage in a place like Coors Field. What we like here is that he gets to face Peter Lambert, who’s pitching to a 6.40 ERA and 1.61 WHIP this season.

Aaron Judge, NYY at SEA

DK ($4,500) FD ($4,300)

We foreshadowed this a bit with our final sentence in the Torres write-up, as we love the Yankees on this slate. Any time they face a weak left-hander, all of the powerful righties are in play. Judge is just that, as he and the Bronx Bombers will oppose Sheffield and his 6.43 ERA and 2.29 WHIP. That’s truly frightening against a stud like Judge, who actually leads the league in exit velocity and hard-hit percentage. Those elite advanced statistics have been really shining recently, with Judge hitting four doubles and five homers over his last 14 games. Not to mention, he also has a .478 OBP, .667 SLG and 1.144 OPS against southpaws so far this season and is priced way too low on DK.

Franmil Reyes, CLE at DET

DK ($4,000) FD ($3,200)

After a couple of stud outfielders, let’s give you a value play. Reyes is just that and it’s truly hard to understand why his price remains so low. We’re talking about a slugger with a .513 SLG and .271 ISO being priced around a bunch of minor leaguers. What makes it even more bizarre is that Reyes has four dingers over his last three games while knocking out six homers in total over his last 13 fixtures. That means the power stroke is strong right now, which is not a good thing for Jordan Zimmermann and his 6.48 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.

Aaron Civale Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Adam Plutko just struck out nine Tigers on Tuesday and I expect Civale to have a similar performance. The rookie is pitching to a 1.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP and gets to face a Detroit lineup who ranks last in runs scored, xwOBA and K rate.

8/26 DFS Hitting Picks and Prop Plays: Brewin’ Birds

It’s Monday, which means it’s a travel day for numerous MLB teams. That’s why we have only eight games in total and seven in the night slate. We’re going to go ahead and eliminate the one day game between Colorado and Atlanta because there really won’t be much action on that game for DFS purposes. What’s interesting here is that we have five of the eight games being played in pitcher’s parks, so we’re going to try to avoid those if possible. So, let’s get into our 8/26 DFS Hitting picks for the night slate.

8/26 DFS Hitting Catcher

Yasmani Grandal, MIL vs. STL

DK ($4,600) FD ($3,100)

In such a limited slate, I was pleased that we were able to find such a good catcher at such a reasonable price. The simple fact is, Grandal is in the midst of a career year and he’s recording some of the best numbers among anyone at the catcher position. In fact, Grandal is generating a .381 OBP and .848 OPS this season, which are both Top-5 among catchers. Getting to hit from the left side is the main reason we like Grandal, with the Milwaukee battery mate posting a .483 SLG and .826 OPS against right-handers since 2017. That’s huge against Adam Wainwright and we’ll go over his struggles in our third base write-up.

8/26 DFS Hitting First Basemen

Paul Goldschmidt, STL at MIL

DK ($4,500) FD ($3,700)

Goldy has had a disappointing season by his standards but we really like him here against a lefty in a hitter-friendly stadium like Miller Park. Let’s begin with that matchup, as he faces Gio Gonzalez, who’s pitching to a 4.17 FIP and 1.40 WHIP dating back to last season. More importantly, right-handed hitters have a .345 OBP and 1.50 WHIP against him in that same span. That’s huge for a guy like Goldy, who’s got a .426 OBP, .589 SLG and 1.014 OPS against southpaws for his career.

8/26 DFS Hitting Second Basemen

Gleyber Torres, NYY at SEA

DK ($5,100) FD ($4,200)

Any time the Yankees get a matchup against a lefty, they’re always in play for a full-on stack. Sending out a bunch of potent righties is the main reason why and Torres would be the main part of that stack. What we really like is his recent form, with Torres collecting 12 homers over his last 20 games. That’s led to him providing 32 dingers and a .552 SLG for the year, which is simply incredible statistics. He’s killed lefties in his career too, tallying a .538 SLG and .880 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Tommy Milone is certainly not a southpaw we need to fear either and we’ll go over that in the outfield write-up.

8/26 DFS Hitting Third Basemen

Mike Moustakas, MIL vs. STL

DK ($5,000) FD ($3,700)

We foreshadowed Wainwright’s numbers in the Grandal recommendation, so let’s discuss why we like these Brewers. So far this season. Wainwright is allowing left-handed bats to accrue a .393 OBP, .377 wOBA, 1.86 WHIP and 5.86 FIP against him. Those are ghastly numbers and it really makes him someone we want to stack against in a place like Miller Park. Moustakas should play a major part in that damage, as he too is setting career-highs in AVG, OBP, SLG and OPS. The Moose is really letting it loose right now too, generating a .500 OBP and 1.000 SLG over his last six games en route to a 1.500 OPS.

8/26 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Paul DeJong, STL at MIL

DK ($4,400) FD ($3,400)

Those aforementioned numbers from Gio Gonzalez put many of the Cardinals bats in play, with Goldy, Marcell Ozuna and DeJong being the cream of the crop. The slugging shortstop usually finds himself batting third for the RedBirds and it’s no surprise when you see his career .473 SLG and .794 OPS. That’s huge from a guy who has four dingers in his last 11 games and 10 homers across his last 34 fixtures. DeJong getting the platoon advantage is simply the icing on the cake, with the shortstop producing a .357 OBP against lefties so far this season.

8/26 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Aaron Judge, NYY at SEA

DK ($4,600) FD ($4,100)

Let’s get into Tommy Milone, as he makes the Yankees one of the best stacks of the day. The Seattle southpaw is currently pitching to a 4.84 ERA, which looks even worse when you see his 7.02 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over his last seven starts. That definitely puts Judge in play, with the big man posting a .483 OBP and 1.120 OPS against lefties this season. Those brilliant numbers are coming in a down year, as Judge’s 96.5 MPH exit velocity and 58.4 percent hard-hit rate happen to be the best marks in MLB, which indicates even more positive regression is headed his way.

A.J. Pollock, LAD at SD

DK ($4,400) FD ($3,400)

Pollock has been dealing with injuries throughout his career but he’s always in play when he’s healthy. The reason we like him today is because he gets to face a lefty, with the Dodgers typically batting him leadoff in these circumstances. That’s really no surprise when you see that he has a .369 AVG, .425 OBP, .523 SLG and .948 OPS against lefties so far this season. That’s all you can ask for from a player who has a .383 OBP, .590 SLG and .973 OPS over his last 30 fixtures. Not to mention, he faces Eric Lauer and his 4.47 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Corey Dickerson, PHI vs. PIT

DK ($4,700) FD ($3,500)

Dickerson is always a favorite of mine against righties. The simple fact is, this dude is one of the best hitters in the game against right-handed pitching. That’s evident by his .364 wOBA, .534 SLG, .868 OPS and .243 ISO against righties for his career. Those numbers are even better this year, with Dickerson generating a .981 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Dickerson happens to be raking right now too, hitting .340 over his last 27 games en route to a .649 SLG and 1.013 OPS. That’s the opposite of what Joe Musgrove is doing, with the Pirates righty pitching to a 7.03 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over his last eight starts. That’s even scarier in a hitter’s haven like Citizen’s Bank Ballpark.

MLB DFS Bats: Yankees Bats Look To Bounce Back In Boston

Catcher: Mitch Garver ($3,700 FD, $5,400 DK) and the Twins have put up 39 runs the past 4 games. Garver boasts a .322 IS0 and .395 wOBA vs right handed pitchers and is getting a hot bat lately. The opposing pitcher Dylan Cease does have some K potential but that doesn’t scare me in this matchup. Cease has given up a home run in every start of his young career which has helped contribute to his 6.19 ERA (small sample size). Garver is a great play at a position where I am having trouble finding much I like.

Catcher Value: Chance Sisco ($3,100 FD; $4,100 DK) is batting .291 ISO/.408 wOBA vs righties, and is at a reasonable price point on a thin position today. Griff Canning is all but guaranteed to give up multiple runs, even to the Orioles. Sisco comes through with a big swing every now and then and because of that, I’ll take him as my value one off today at extremely low ownership

First Base Stud: Joc Pederson ($3,600 FD; $4,700 DK) heads to Washington tied with Cody Bellinger for most home runs hit vs Righties on the Dodgers squad. This season Joc is hitting .387 ISO/.313 wOBA/.910 SLG vs right handed pitching. While opposing pitcher Anibal Sanchez’s stats are respectable, with 3.80 ERA/1.35 WHIP, he really has had an unusually easy schedule. Joc helps Bellinger and the Dodgers put the hurt on the Nationals tonight.

First Base Value: Sam Travis ($2,500 FD; $3,000 DK) is cheap and he hits lefties in a game with a 11 run team total. He has 2 homers in 30 ABs and bats .233 ISO/.325 wOBA vs southpaws. If he gets the start, he is worth a MLB DFS value play, especially if you stack the Red Sox.

Second Base: Gleyber Torres ($4,000 FD; $4,900 DK) The Yankees were embarrassed last night at Fenway when they gave up an all time series high run total (19) to the Boston Red Sox. They will be locked in vs the rival tonight. Torres is batting .305 vs righties, with a .394 wOBA, .233 ISO and .546 SLG. Torres contributes in multiple ways, if he isn’t the one hitting it in the bleachers he will be getting runs and RBI’s. Andrew Cashner is in for a short night here. He has a 7.36 ERA and giving up multiple homers is kinda his thing.. Yankees delivery in a big way.

Second Base Honorable Mention: Max Muncy (with Dodgers stacks)

Shortstop Stud: Xander Bogaerts: ($3,700 FD; $5,000 DK) Batting .315 with 23 homers and 80 RBI this season. He is the second best lefty hitter on the team, behind J.D. Martinez, and also hits behind him in the starting lineup. As far as BVP goes, Bogaerts checks that box too, with a .364 ISO, .380 wOBA vs the opposing James Paxton.

Shortstop Mid Range: Didi Gregoriuos ($3,700 FD; $5,100 DK) If there is anything I remember from playing DFS in years past it is play Didi when he gets hot. I fully expect Yankees to give Cashner nightmares tonight and Didi’s bat has recently come alive. He has a .371 wOBA and expect him to do his part on my Yankees stacks.

Third Base Stud: Yuli Gurriel ($4,000 FD; $4,400 DK) has four homers in his last six games. The Astros are almost at full health again and it is showing. Gurriel is batting .233 ISO/ .364 wOBA and faces Jack Flaherty who has avoided a blowup lately. However his opponents have not been particularly scary in the Reds, Pirates, Giants and Mariners. I think the Astros knock Flaherty out relatively early or at least bend him until he breaks before getting a quality start.

Third Base Value: Renato Nunez ($3,200 FD; $4,200 DK) This guy is hitting value every night and no one ever plays him. He has a .234 ISO/.340 wOBA vs righties and Griff Canning has been getting knocked around a bit lately. Nunes has three homers in his last five games and hasn’t put up a fantasy goose egg since July 14th. He has a safe floor with upside which is what we look for in MLB DFS.

Third Base Value: Maikel Franco ($2,700 FD; $3,400 DK) faces a quality pitcher in Mike Soroka BUT Franco is a vet who loves to break the Braves hearts. This is a low owned, value, gut play. Franco has just as many homers this year for the Phillies vs right handers as Bryce Harper and is batting .250/.443 SLG/.754 OPS. He is capable of a big night.

Outfield Stud: JD Martinez ($4,100 FD; $4,500 DK) He owns lefties with a .405 ISO/.494 wOBA. This series feels like it is going to continue to be explosive and I expect the Red Sox do their part on the scoreboard. I like the Xander/Martinez/Devers mini stack

Outfield Stud: Cody Bellinger ($4,700 FD; $5,600 DK). There is nothing not to like here with Bellinger. Batting .338 with a .371 ISO and .708 SLG vs righties, he is one the league’s most lethal bats. Anibal Sanchez has been pitching over his head lately, largely due to a “cupcake” schedule, and his numbers start to regress today. The last time Sanchez hasn’t gotten popped for a long ball it was all the way back on May 29th. I think the Dodgers pour it on here.

Outfield MidRange: Anthony Santander ($3,300 FD; $4,500 DK) is yet another Oriole doing damage recently and just not seeing a price increase. I have been playing him almost every night the past week or so and haven’t been disappointed once. I’ll keep rolling him out until the price catches up. Santander has four homer runs in his last six games and carries a .263 ISO with a .387 wOBA vs lefties. I’ll play him at no ownership for $3,300.

Outfield Value: Alex Verdugo ($2,900 FD; $4,000 DK) He is cheap, and batting in between two of my favorite plays on the day (Joc and Bellinger). He holds his own with 10 homers .202 IS0/ .350 wOBA vs righties. See above for why I think the Dodgers get to Anibal Sanchez.

A nine-game split slate for MLB DFS on Thursday and one where weather will not cause any problems. There will be no problems for the Yankees, it seems.

Catcher

Roberto Perez, Indians at Royals ($2,700 FD, $3,500 DK): I love using this backstop against lefties but the park downgrade scares me a bit tonight. So maybe the long-ball potential isn’t overly high but the Indians should be able to string together some hits and get a few rallies going tonight.

First Base

Daniel Vogelbach, Tigers at Mariners ($3,500 FD, $4,200 DK): You can’t go wrong with a player who has hit multiple HRs in a game twice in over a week at that price. Especially against the Tigers pitching staff and particularly against today’s starting pitcher, Drew VerHagen.

Edwin Encarncion, Yankees at Red Sox ($4,300 FD, $5,400 DK) and Luke Voit ($3,600 FD, $4,800 DK): Both bats from a loaded Yankees lineup are in play in Fenway Park against Rick Porcello. Will traveling to Boston after a night game in Minnesota slow down the Bombers bats? Probably not but we will see what happens tonight.

Second Base

Gleyber Torres, Yankees at Red Sox ($3,700 FD, $4,700 DK): Torres has recovered from a slump. He has hit safely over his last three games with HRs in two of them. He is especially attractive if you want to use a Yankee stack and they blow up former Cy Young winner Rick Porcello.

Shortstop

Didi Gregorius, Yankees at Red Sox ($3,300 FD, $4,900 DK): Well I seem to be writing myself smack dab into using a Yankees stack tonight. Well who can blame me for doing that? Didi has recorded back-to-back games where he has accumulated eight hits, 3 runs scored, a homer, three doubles, a triple, 10 RBI and a walk. Wow, talk about a good DFS player the last two nights.

Third Base

Logan Forsythe, Rangers at Athletics ($2,500 FD, $4,100 DK): An affordable bat with pop who always plays against lefties, Forsythe has gone deep in two of his last five games. He has a decent chance of making it three out of six against mediocre lefty Brett Anderson.

Outfield

Let us go back to the Yankees here and red-hot Aaron Hicks ($3,800 FD, $5,000 DK). Like Didi, he has coming of consecutive great games with totals of four hits, two homers, four runs, four RBI and a walk. It is only a matter of time until Aaron Judge ($4,600 FD, $5,600 DK) joins in the long ball fun. Like the other Yankees mentioned, he certainly had a productive pair of games at Target Field combining for five hits, two doubles, two RBI and 3 runs scored.

My last outfielder will be a non-Yankee in Ramon Laureano ($3,100 FD, $4,900 DK). He is coming off a stretch where he reached double digits in DK fantasy points in 10 games on either side of the All-Star break. This had to be the quietest hot streak in all of MLB. I like using him as a late night one-off against a bad Rangers pitching staff led by starter Ariel Jurado.

Stacks

As you can tell in the write-up for batters, the Yankees are the #1 stack against a pitcher they have dominated recently in Rick Porcello. That guy must have nightmares of the beating the Bronx Bombers put on him in the Little League field they played on in London. Tom Eshelman of the Orioles has yet to produce a quality start in three tries this season. So that puts the Angels in play as a stack. The Nationals, going against a tired Rockies bullpen that has pitched a whole bunch of innings over the last week or so, could be in play on the early or all-game slate.

Stack Report for MLB Main Slate: Winning Edge for July 19

This report will provide recommended DFS stacks for today’s 14-game main slate. I will also include my favorite pitching picks.

**All plays are listed in order of preference. Please check back between 5-6 PM EST as some players can receive rest days or get limited at bats especially as we get closer to the postseason. Make sure you are watching the weather as well.

New York Yankees Stack

vs. LHP Kyle Freeland (COL): 6.90 Runs

I glared at the computer for awhile this morning trying to figure out how to get away from this Yankees chalk tonight and I can’t do it. Kyle Freeland is just downright terrible. He carries a 7.39 ERA, 6.13 FIP, and 5.18 SIERA on the season. He has allowed 43 earned runs across 53 innings to right-handed batters. Freeland is allowing a massive 2.27 HR/9 innings and 43% hard contact. Freeland is not at Coors, but he is in very hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. The Yankees have been slumping off just a bit coming off the break, but this team is jam packed with talent and it would be foolish to fade them. The Yankees are slashing to a .365 wOBA, .225 ISO, and 128 WRC+ over the last month. I’m typically an advocate against using the Yankees on most nights, but I feel confident using these right handed power bats this evening.

Cleveland Indians Stack

vs. LHP Mike Montgomery (KCR): 6.15 Runs

Mike Montgomery was a top prospect not long ago but has not had a good 2019 campaign. I doubt he’s stretched out all the way so he should be limited today. We have a small sample size to go off of here, but Montgomery carries a 5.67 ERA, 6.21 FIP, and 5.25 SIERA over 27 innings pitched this season. His splits indicate he struggles more with lefties. They are slashing to a .556 wOBA, .868 SLG, and .512 OBP. Montgomery is not much better against righties (thus far). They are slashing to a .336 wOBA, .464 SLG, and .338 OBP. Obviously these numbers are inflated due to limited action this season but most tend to go for the handedness matchup, so don’t be afraid to differentiate with some Cleveland lefties. Cleveland bats are red hot right now. They are slashing to a .369 wOBA, .255 ISO, and 128 WRC+ over the last couple of weeks.

Toronto Blue Jays Stack

vs. RHP Jordan Zimmermann (DET): 5.90 Runs

Jordan Zimmermann heads into tonight’s matchup carrying a 7.01 ERA, 4.64 FIP, and 5.35 SIERA. That ERA is a little elevated compared to his FIP and SIERA. That is because of his .344 BABIP and a lowly 58% LOB. Some of it can be attributed to bad luck but he also has a poor defense behind him, so that will drive his ERA up whereas FIP measures things only the pitcher can control. Bats are slashing to a .350 wOBA, .508 SLG, and .348 OBP on the season against him. Zimmermann has allowed 41 earned runs across 52.2 innings pitched. He has only allowed seven home runs in that span. Blue Jays batters are slashing to a .351 wOBA, .234 ISO, and 120 WRC+ over the last month. They have seen a dip in their batting averages recently, but this is a good spot for Toronto to do some damage.

vs. LHP John Means (BAL): 6.00 Runs

Preferred Stack: Christian Vazquez ($2800 FD|$4700 DK), Xander Bogaerts ($4500 FD|$5700 DK), Rafael Devers ($4400 FD|$5400 DK), and J.D. Martinez ($4000 FD|$4700 DK).

Pitching

RHP Jacob deGrom (NYM): 3.13 Runs

DFS Stacks for Main Slate: Winning Edge for July 12

Welcome back everyone! I know we have a few “new” guys on the Win Daily staff, as well as a few subscribers. I just wanted to welcome all of you. This report will provide recommended DFS stacks for today’s 13-game main slate.

New York Yankees

vs. RHP Aaron Sanchez (TOR): 7.10 Runs

The Yankees lost two games in a row going into the All-Star break and had only lost two in their previous 18. They are clearly the best team in baseball right now, boasting a 6.5 game lead on the Rays and 9.0 on the Red Sox. We all know how tricky the AL East can be after the break. These teams can close the gap rather quickly given their talents. Look for the Yankees to keep their foot on the gas and truck their way into the post season. Aaron Sanchez carries a 6.16 ERA, 5.56 FIP, and 5.57 SIERA into tonight’s game. His splits are identical, holding .a 361 wOBA, .391 OBP, and .451 OBP on the year. Coming out of the break, The Yankees are slashing to a .364 wOBA, .247 ISO, and 126 WRC+. They are hitting well above their season averages.

Los Angeles Angels

vs. RHP Mike Leake (SEA): 5.60 Runs

Mike Leake hasn’t been awful this season, carrying a 4.32 ERA, 4.89 FIP, and 4.55 SIERA into tonight’s game. These +4.00 ERA stat lines seem more of the norm this season with the elevated scoring. Leake has identical splits, holding a .330 wOBA, .303 OBP, and .493 SLG through 114. innings pitched. He has the displeasure of facing an Angels team who hold the lowest strikeout rate in MLB. They average 6.87 strikeouts per game on the year. The Angels are slashing .to a 321 wOBA, .191 ISO, and .458 SLG to right handed pitching over a two week span coming out of the break.

Preferred DFS Stacks Build: Mike Trout ($4700 FD|$5300 DK), Shohei Ohtani ($3900 FD|$4800 DK), and Justin Upton ($3500 FD|$3800 DK).

Milwaukee Brewers

vs. RHP Shaun Anderson (SFG): 5.60 Runs

Shaun Anderson heads into tonight’s matchup holding a 4.23 ERA, 4.38 FIP, and 5.28 SIERA through 55 innings pitched. He has identical splits with a .320 wOBA, .331 OBP, and .417 SLG. I’m really hoping for a healthy Christian Yelich here tonight as he has been experiencing some lower back discomfort on and off this season. The Brewers come out of the break slashing to a .297 wOBA, .223 ISO, and .423 SLG to right handed pitching. The Brewers are only a half game back on the Cubs, who actively seem to be trying to hand the Brewers the division, but they have been having issues of their own. An unhealthy Yelich certainly does not give this lineup a ton of appeal. Look for the Brewers to get it together coming off the break.

Preferred DFS Stacks Build: Christian Yelich ($4800 FD|$5200 DK), Eric Thames ($3200 FD|$4800 DK), Yasmani Grandal ($3500 FD|$4900 DK), and Mike Moustakas ($3900 FD|$4700 DK) if you prefer a full stack on FD.

San Diego Padres vs. LHP Dallas Keuchel (ATL): 4.30 Runs

Preferred Stack: Hunter Renfroe ($3000 FD|$4700 DK), Manny Machado ($3900 FD|$4100 DK), and Manuel Margot ($2600 FD|$3600 DK).

Oakland A’s vs. RHP Ivan Nova (CHW): 5.60 Runs

Preferred Stack: Matt Chapman ($3900 FD|$4800 DK), Matt Olson ($3800 FD|$5100 DK), Mark Canha ($2800 FD|$4300 DK), and Ramon Laureano ($3100 FD|$4500 DK).

St. Louis Cardinals vs. LHP Robbie Ray (ARZ): 4.50 Runs

DFS Hitting and Monkey Knife Picks: Independence Day Bats

A strange day for this Independence Day with the DFS contests split up at unusual times and games. And not every team is playing on this holiday? How does that happen? Well I guess Independence Day falling on a Thursday gives MLB some leeway as teams travel to get ready for the upcoming weekend series that start tomorrow.

Catcher:

Jason Castro, Twins at Athletics ($2,600 FD, $3,800 DK): One of the keys to the Twins’ fine season is how well their catchers have hit. At times this season, the Twins have seen three really good hitting catchers on their roster in Castro, Mitch Garver and Willians Astudillo. The first two names in this threesome have hit so well that the third player has spent much of the year in the minors even though he has performed well when asked to.

Back to today’s match-up, Garver played last night so Castro is likely to see his name on the scoresheet today. On the season, Castro has 10 HRs in 111 ABS vs righties and has an OPS of .934. In other words, he is an elite hitter against righties. Castro faces rookie Athletics right-hander Tanner Anderson who is really struggling right now.

DFS First Base

Justin Smoak, Red Sox at Blue Jays ($2,700 FD, $3,900 DK): Both players chosen so far are extremely affordable to let us pay up for arms and big bats in smash spots. Smoak gets spot-starter Hector Velazquez of the Red Sox and gets to take his cuts against him from his strong side of the plate. For the season, Smoak’s OPS is .904 vs righties and only .572 vs lefties. With Velasquez not expected to go too long in the game and with the dearth of lefties in Boston’s bullpens, he will likely swing the bat as a lefty all game.

DFS Second Base

Gleyber Torres, Yankees at Rays ($3,600 FD, $4,900 DK): The Rays have a great pitching staff and their starter today (Chirinos) has been effective all season. So why do I like Torres today? First of all, he is an extremely talented player on the best hitting team in the majors. Secondly, his road splits are incredible, with a .999 OPS as compared to .782 at home.

Thirdly, someone standing up for him vocally might give him an extra spark. Yankee manager Aaron Boone backed his star player and blasted the A.L. for leaving Torres off the All-Star roster here. A particularly strong quote from Boone: “I think it’s a joke he’s not on that team. Gleyber Torres, not an All-Star? You can kick rocks on that one. That’s ridiculous.” Torres is red-hot, with hits in 12 of his last 13 games and multiple hits in three of his past five games.

DFS Shortstop

Jorge Polanco, Twins at Athletics ($3,700 FD, $4,500 DK): For DFS roster construction, having multiple Twins is probably a good idea. As mentioned before about Jason Castro, Tanner Anderson is struggling. So use Polanco, who has hit in six straight games and 15 out of 16. For the season, Polanco has a terrific OPS of .974 against righties.

DFS Third Base

D.J. LeMahieu, Yankees at Rays ($4,300 FD, $5,400 DK): Here is one of my “big bats to pay up for” written about previously. With as much talent as the Bronx Bombers have, this scrappy player is likely their MVP to-date. He just has hit the ball so consistently well all season long. LeMathieu is particularly hot right now, with multiple hit games in seven of his last eight. If the Yankees do damage in St. Petersburg late this afternoon and evening (which I think they will), LeMahieu will likely be a huge part of the fireworks.

DFS Outfield

Let’s go with one more Twins bat in Max Kepler ($3,700 FD, $4,600 DK). This German-born lefty hits righties very well and will likely bat leadoff. His OPS against right-handers is .915.

An old DFS saying of mine, well just for the past season, is to use Joey Gallo ($4,200 FD, $5,700 DK) at home against mediocre or young right-handed pitchers. The scheduled days off for pitchers for both teams is out of whack due to the tragic passing away of Tyler Skaggs. Griffin Canning starts for the Angels in a hot Globe Life Park where the ball will carry very well.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($3,700 FD, $5,500 DK): You may say to yourself, that is expensive for him! Well, this guy is red-hot and faces the uncertain pitching situation of the Red Sox. Since June 20th, Gurriel Jr. has hit 7 HRs, which may have something to do with batting third in the order behind Valdimir Guerrero Jr. Lourdes has Expected Slugging and Hard Hit rates that both rank in the 87th percentile or better on the season. To make a long story short, these power numbers are not a fluke, folks.

DFS Hitting Stacks for July 3rd: Subway Slammers

Wednesday’s MLB actionincludes some big-time offenses in great spots for DFS purposes. So below wehave four stacks to target as you assemble your Daily Fantasy Sports entries.

New York Yankees

The New York Mets will be starting Jason Vargas on the bump in this one. Vargas is a guy that the Yankees should be able to get to. The right-hander has a 5.05 SIERA and a 5.09 xFIP while striking out just 20% of the batters he has faced in 2019. We will want to get some exposure in our DFS lineups.

So of course, we want to load up on some Yankees in our DFS lineups and our New York stack will start with Gary Sanchez (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $4,700). Sanchez has an ISO north of .300 versus left-handed pitching. Some other Yankee’s bats worth considering are: Edwin Encarnacion (FanDuel: $4,100 DraftKings: $4,300) and Gleyber Torres (FanDuel: $3,700 DraftKings: $4,600). Both have ISOs above .200 versus righties in 2019. And do not forget about Aaron Judge (FanDuel: $4,500 DraftKings: $4,800) and D.J. LeMahieu (FanDuel: $4,500 DraftKings: $5,200). Both of these Yankees have wOBAs greater than .400 against lefties in 2019.

Houston Astros

With the Astros having already hit 98 home runs against right-handed pitching this season, it is safe to say they have a really good chance of tacking a few more onto that total in this one. Not only are they playing in Coors Field, but the Rockies’ Peter Lambert is allowing 2.55 HR/9. Load up on the Astros in your DFS entries.

Lambert has really struggled at home this season. He is allowing a .478 wOBA and a 46% hard contact rate in Colorado in 2019. So feel free to stack any combination of Astros. But you will want to pay particular attention to the lefty bats in the Houston lineup. Lambert is allowing a .440/.444/1.040 slash line to lefties at home this season. With that in mind, we will want to start our DFS Astros’ build with Yordan Alvarez (FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings: $5,500), if he is healthy enough to get back in the lineup. The Houston slugger has a .400 ISO and a .424 wOBA against righties this season.

Colorado Rockies

Any time the Rockies’ offense is opposed by a lefty, they have to be considered for DFS stacking purposes. Against left-handed pitching this season, Colorado has been very successful. As a team, they have a .200 ISO and a .340 wOBA against left-handed pitching. And when they get to face a left-hander in the thin air of Colorado they are a no-brainer DFS stacking option.

So, your Colorado DFS building blocks should include the likes of: Ian Desmond (FanDuel: $3,300 DraftKings: $4,500), Nolan Arenado (FanDuel: $4,600 DraftKings: $5,300), Charlie Blackmon (FanDuel: $4,500 DraftKings: $5,800) and David Dahl (FanDuel: $3,900 DraftKings: $5,200). All four of these Rockies’ batters have accumulated at least a .230 ISO versus left-handed pitching.

Boston Red Sox

You are going to want to pick on Toronto’s Sean Reid-Foley in your DFS lineups on Wednesday. Reid-has a 5.75 SIERA and a 6.46 xFIP as well as a low 9.9% swing strike rate. The Blue Jays’ starter is not missing many bats.

We want to build our Boston’ DFS stack starting with the usual suspects: Mookie Betts (FanDuel: $4,100 DraftKings: $4,400), Rafael Devers (FanDuel: $4,100 DraftKings: $4,700) and Xander Bogaerts (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $4,600). These three batters have ISOs greater than .200 against right-handed pitching.

Washington Nationals

In 65 career at-bats against the Marlins’ Sandy Alcantara, the Nationals’ current roster has a .369/.431/.706 slash line. In particular Anthony Rendon (FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings: $5,500) and Juan Soto (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $5,000) have been excellent against the Miami starter. Combined, the players are 9-for-23 with three home runs and eight RBIs against Alcantara and are excellent DFS building blocks for Wednesday.
