Today’s edition of Aces and Bases focuses ONLY on FanDuel’s 10-game MLB DFS Main Slate for 7:05PM ET, hopefully finding you some green screens!

Some light rain in Baltimore, where I’m not looking at pitchers anyway, and some normal pop-up chances in Atlanta and Cincy, but nothing tumultuous that could PPD a game we’re featuring. Giddyup!

MLB DFS: The Aces

Top MLB DFS Ace: Julio Urias ($10,000)

Urias may not have the highest upside on the slate, but both he and a pitcher to be named later offer the best chance at safety in cash games. His solid July numbers (2.30 ERA, .264 wOBA, 20% K rate, 5.6% BB rate) portend a more steady stretch in the season’s second half. The scuffling Angels have hit just .216/.271/.342 over the past week and this should not be considered a get-right spot for the halos. I’ll be plugging Urias in about half my cash and a third of my GPP lines tonight and moving on to some value stacks.

Best GPP Value: Yu Darvish ($9,600)

Last week we discussed how Darvish has struggled in July and had a good spot against the Rockies and he got lit up (including yielding a HR to the opposing pitcher, German Marquez) for 5 ER — though he did rack up 8 Ks and 27 FD points. This time we have reason to expect he can improve on those numbers and hit the 40+ threshold we’re looking for in GPPs. Adam Strangis discusses Darvish’s matchup in the 8/7 Starting Rotation article and as usual it’s a must-read. Darvish has been a reverse-splits pitcher in 2021 because of the soft contact he induces against LHB, and with the D-Backs’ featuring a slew of lefty hitters and the team K rate at 23.6% (24.4% vs. RHP), he’s once again in a great spot for GPPs.

Value Cash/Single-Entry GPP Play: Charlie Morton ($8,700)

At one point, a matchup against the Nationals would have scared me off a guy like Morton, and there may still be some oblivious DFS folks who don’t take advantage of what we’re really getting on this slate with the veteran hurler in this spot. That’s a solid floor of around 30-35 FD points and the opportunity to notch 55-60+ points if he hits his ceiling. Over his past nine starts dating back to June 17, Morton has at least 25 FD points in every one, with four in the 45+ point range and three at 52, 54 and 64 FD points. The Nats have been decimated by injuries and trades and have only or two hitters that really frighten me, so I’ll have some shares of Morton in both cash and GPPs where I may need the extra $1,000 to $1,300 to squeeze in a potent stack.

MLB DFS: The Bases

Top Stack: Colorado Rockies

This idea that we don’t have to tell you to play hitters n Coors has been around for quite a while, but some days you need to reiterate just how high the team total for Colorado (or in many cases their opponent) is. Today’s the home team is in a really great spot against a talented but unproven starter in Jesus Luzardo that may not be ready for the Mile-High treatment. There’s a very good avenue to some decent value in fastball-mashing Brendan Rogers ($3,500) and Elias Diaz ($3,400) before we have to pay a premium for Trevor Story ($4,300) and C.J. Cron ($4,000), and we could always mix in a guy like Yonathan Daza ($3,000). It’s not a slate we need to overthink, and getting exposure to the Rockies is a good idea on a slate where they won’t garner that high of the ownership share.

GPP Stack: Cincinnati Reds

They’ve been RED-hot as of late and just got Mike Moustakas back from the IL Damn near everybody in the lineup got in on the action last night, and now we’ve got a roster chock full of left-handed hitters looking to annihilate Mitch Keller and exceed the massive projected 6+ run total the Cincy crew is carrying into the slate. Moustakas is a ridiculous bargain at $2,500, while some of the usual suspects — Joey Votto ($4,100), Jesse Winker ($4,100), Jonathan India ($3,700) and Nick Castellanos ($3,500) — still feel underpriced somehow. Throw in Kyle Farmer ($2,900), who’s been on absolute fire in the second half (.421/.470/.671 slash line, 1.141 OPS with a 200 wRC+), and lefty Tyler Naquin ($2,900) — and you’ve got plenty of options to choose from.

Contrarian Stack: Cleveland Indians

With the majority of ownership heading to the Rockies, Reds and likley the Dodgers and Braves, I’m more than happy to give the future Guardians a chance to put up galactic numbers against a weak Detroit southpaw (Tyler Alexander) and bullpen. Getting exposure to the top four — Myles Straw ($2,600), Amed Rosario ($2,900), Jose Ramirez ($3,700), Franmil Reyes ($3,500) is optimal, and we can take a few shots with Harold Ramirez (2,400), Bobby Bradley ($2,500) and Oscar Mercado ($2,500) if we need some bargain plays. If we want to pay up for a top arm and fade Coors in some lineups, there’s a few cheap and potent bats on the Detroit end (facing the hittable Eli Morgan) to make this a full game stack! Let’s go DET-CLE!!

Make sure to keep an eye on the starters as lineups are released. Good luck tonight, and please utilize the MLB Projection models to land on your one-offs and off-the-wall value plays!

Some scattered T-storms in the Colorado vicinity tonight, so we’ll leave that game off our discussion since I don’t have to tell you to deploy bats in Coors if the game looks like it’ll play. Let’s get to it!

MLB DFS: The Aces

Top MLB DFS Ace: Trevor Bauer ($11,000)

We haven’t seen the Bauer ceiling game in a while, and I suspect this could be the night facing the offensively challenged Miami Marlins. There’s no need for a ton of analysis here in determining the top arm of this slate, as Carlos Rodon is an option, but was initially scheduled to start Thursday against the Twins and was pushed back after experiencing back and hamstring tightness. Add to that the prospect of some ugly weather in Chicago and he’s just not nearly as safe as Bauer — although there’s plenty of upside if that game plays without delay. I’ll let that determination fall to the weather watchers, but for me, it’s just easier to build around the chalky but upside-laden Bauer against a Marlins team that hits poorly on the road.

Best GPP Value: Ian Anderson ($8,600)

For two Saturdays in a row, I’m going to be using Anderson in the hopes he can avoid the big inning and settle down a little sooner than his previous start. The price has come up a bit (from $7,900) since last weekend, but Anderson’s opponent has a team total under 4 and he’s capable of striking out 8-10 batters. I’ll be using Bauer as my go to SP in most of my MLB DFS builds tonight, but Anderson makes plenty of sense on a relatively thin pitching slate without many “sure thing” candidates for 40+ fantasy points.

Contrarian GPP Value: Triston McKenzie

Domingo German might get a bit of ownership in MLB DFS tonight, as the Yankees take on the Orioles, but McKenzie is coming off his first win of the season on May 6, so he’s rested and ready. While the addition of Jarred Kelenic has added some firepower to the top of the Seattle batting order, the Mariners have a relatively high K rate (26.3% — tied with the Marlins) and there’s lots of upside at this price point for McKenzie — who’s tailor made for FanDuel scoring with his high walk (8.37 BB/9 in five starts) and K rates (12.93 per 9 IP). If he can keep the M’s off the bases and avoid the big fly, he should make value and get you the 30-40 FD points needed to pay off his meager $6,900 salary.

MLB DFS: The Bases

Top Stack: Houston Astros vs. TEX RHP Dane Dunning

I actually like Dunning a bit in MLB DFS — he’s got swing-and-miss stuff and is coming off a career-high 10K performance against the Mariners on May 9 where he settled down his demons and got back to throwing his effective slider. Unfortunately, the Astros offense has just the kind of firepower and plate patience to make Dunning’s day a long one (or short one, if we’re being honest). The miniscule team K rate (18.7% — lowest in the majors) is a great indicator for stacking against pitchers like Dunning who rely heavily on the K to get outs. While Dunning has fared better against LHB in the small sample of 2021 so far, the Astros are littered with lefty mashers and righties who maintain high wOBA against RHP. Yordan Alvarez ($4,300) is the highest-priced bat on Houston, but I’ll be looking closely at the red-hot Kyle Tucker ($3,400) as well as standard stackers Jose Altuve ($3,800), Alex Bregman ($3,700) and Michael Brantley ($3,100). In his last six games, Tucker has 3 HR, 10 hits and 9 RBI.

Value Stack: Philadelphia Phillies vs. TOR LHP Anthony Kay

The Phillies offer a bit of a discount from the Astros, but the upside is almost as high facing a young lefty in a minor league park with a high ERA (Kay: 10.24, with a 5.59 FIP). Rhys Hoskins ($3,300), J.T., Realmuto ($3,400), Andrew McCutcheon ($3,200) and just about any other Phillies hitter — Jean Segura ($2,800), Alec Bohm ($2,400) stand out as solid value options — made sense last night and they do again today. I like a few stacks today (more on that later), but this could end up being a huge leverage play on a day where they might get lower ownership than expected.

Contrarian Stack: Washington Nationals vs. ARI RHP Seth Frankoff

It’s hard to justify them as a contrarian play after they went off for 17 runs in Arizona last night, but some folks might consider it chasing ands other s will be naturally drawn to the Astros, Phillies and teams like the Indians (also a decent contrarian stack or one-off spot for one-off RHB like Jordan Luplow, Franmil Reyes and Jose Ramirez vs. SEA LHP Justus Sheffield). But the Nats are just loaded with hitters who are heating up like Trea Turner ($3,900), Juan Soto ($4,000) and Kyle Schwarber ($3,200), who has homers in consecutive games and went off for 40.4 FD points last night. Josh Bell ($3,000) and the underpriced Yan Gomes ($2,400) are solid options as well.

Good luck, and make sure you utilize the MLB Projection models to land on your one-offs and off-the-wall value plays!

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks ofthe Day

Cleveland Indians at DylanCease

With Jose Ramirez back, the Indians have another titanic bat in their lineup as they try to sneak into the playoffs via the Wild Card. Eliminated from securing their fourth straight AL Central title with Wednesday’s loss (coupled with a victory by the Minnesota Twins), the Indians have a Thursday night matchup that bodes well for the bats facing a hittable Dylan Cease (5.79 ERA). Expect Francisco Lindor to erase that poor showing last night and get some exposure to the 2-5 bats, along with Franmil Reyes and a dirt-cheap Mike Freeman ($3,200 DK, $2,500 FD) at the bottom of the order.

Oakland Athletics atSeattle Mariners

We’ve come to expect a lot from the A’s as September winds down, and this is a prime opportunity for the bats to come alive and pile on some runs on this 9/26 DFS slate. Mark Canha left the game early last night and Khris Davis is battling a stomach bug, but there are plenty of bats to go to in their stead, and while Felix Hernandez is a historically solid pitcher, he’s nearing the end of his career (6.51 ERA this season) and just isn’t the same old King Felix. The A’s also hit well on the road, with a .329 wOBA as a team. I like Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Marcus Semien.

Houston Astros at JaimeBarria

The Astros plan on sitting Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and George Springer, but that just means you can grab some value at the top of their lineup with Kyle Tucker and mix in some “next man up” types who’ve performed well in limited duty this season. They’re not my favorite stack for 9/26 DFS, but they’re certainly viable and a little cheaper to fit in without all the regulars.

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks toConsider

Chicago Cubs at Joe Musgrove – The Cubs face ahittable pitcher who can hand out free passes and get lit up as easily as hecan rack up the Ks.

New York Mets vs. Jordan Yamamoto – Yamamoto isn’t a bad young pitcher, but he struggles with RHBs and the Mets have a bunch of really good ones.

9/26 DFS HittingCatcher

Wilson Ramos, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,600)  FD ($2600)

Unfortunately, the pickings are slim at catcher today, so I’ll be looking to Wilson Ramos and his power upside. The Mets regular catcher is slashing .286/.350/.415 this season and Yamamoto has trouble with right-handed bats (.322wOBA vs. RHBs, .250 wOBA vs. LHBs). Just make sure he’s in the lineup before you lock him in.

9/26 DFS Hitting FirstBaseman

Matt Olson, OAK at SEA

DK (4,600)  FD ($3,700)

My affinity for Matt Olson is well-known among my peers, and he’s deliveredfor me time and again in GPPs. This matchup is an interesting one, because Olsonhas a .293 ISO and 150 wRC+ against righties. Olson, who’s been hitting forpower this month with a .345 ISO, will likely face a couple of RHPs and has agood chance at going deep in this game.

9/26 DFS Hitting SecondBaseman

Aledmys Diaz, HOU at LAA

DK($4,100)   FD ($2,900)

With some Astros sitting, Diaz probably gets another start tonight and is carrying a decent slash line (.271/.349/.457) into the 9/26 contest. He has a 122 wRC+ against RHPs this season, is fairly priced on DK and is unbelievably cheap on FD. It looks like I may give him a shot in about half my lineups this evening.

9/26 DFS Hitting ThirdBaseman

Matt Chapman, OAK at SEA

(DK $4,100)  FD ($3,600)

Mr. Chapman homered last night, is very affordable on both sites, and is slightly better against RHPs (124 wRC+ vs. RHPs, 122 wRC+ vs. LHPs). While he had a relatively quiet September, I like the matchup for Chapman against King Felix here here — and there are not many 3B who stick out in this slate other than him, Alex Bregman (who’s available at SS on DK), and Yoan Moncada.

9/26 DFSHitting Shortstop

Alex Bregman, HOU at LAA

DK ($2,600)  FD ($2,000)

Some of the veteran Astros players will get spelled tonight, but Bregman is slated to stay in the lineup and is red hot at the plate (3-4, two 2B, RBI, R last night). He sports a robust 168 wRC+ and is slashing .298/.421/.595 triple-slash line with 119 runs scored, 40 homers, 110 RBI and five steals this season. The hard-hitting Bregman is a fine place to anchor your SS slot.

9/26 DFS HittingOutfielders

Kyle Tucker, HOU at LAA

DK($4,800)   FD ($2,900)

Tucker draws the leadoff spot for 9/26 DFS a night after launching a solo homer against the Mariners. With Jose Altuve getting the day off, he takes over a prime spot in the Astros lineup and has done ell with his chances so far: The 22-year-old rookie outfielder is hitting .304/.339/.571 with 11 runs scored, three HRs, 10 RBI and five SB in 59 plate appearances this season. The price on DK is fair, but on FD he’s just way too cheap.

Brandon Nimmo, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,900)

I love Nimmo in the leadoff spot today for the Mets, who don’t havea lot to play for but still have an exciting group of young hitters. Nimmo hasa 133 wRC+ against RHPs in his career and will have plenty of run scoringopportunities here. He also has a 16.4 BB% facing RHPs in his career and a 19.7BB% this season against righties – a nice patience complement to his burgeoningpower.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC at PIT

DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

While he’s not much of a contact/average hitter, Schwarber has been heating up at the plate (2-4 last night with a pair of singles on Wednesday) just in time for his team to be eliminated from the playoffs. Schwarber is hitting .248/.337/.527 with 37 homers, 91 RBI and 80 runs scored in 152 games overall in 2019, and he’s got a great matchup vs. RHP Joe Musgrove.

 9/26 DFS Additional StackOptions:

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,700 DK, $3,000 FD), Sean Murphy ($4,000DK, $2,900 FD)

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900 DK, $3,900 FD), Pete Alonso ($5,000 DK,$4,000 FD)

2B: Ian Happ ($4,000 DK, $2,600 FD), Yolmer Sanchez ($2,700 DK) ($2,300FD)

3B: Yoan Moncada ($4,800 DK, $3,500 FD), David Fletcher ($3,900DK, $2,800 FD)

SS: Francisco Lindor ($4,600 DK, $4,200 FD), Jack Mayfield ($2,600 DK, $2,000 FD)

OF: Yordan Alvarez ($5,400 DK, $4,400 FD), Nick Castellanos ($4,600DK, $3,800 FD), Michael Brantley ($4,000 DK, $3,500 FD), Oscar Mercado ($4,900DK, $3,400 FD), Michael Conforto ($4,600 DK, $3,500 FD), Robbie Grossman, ($3,500DK, $2,400 FD),

DFS Winner: Zack Greinke

Premium Gold members had access to the MLB Cheatsheet, as well as other parts of the website and the Slack channel with access to all the DFS Pros. Jason selected Zack Greinke as a value pitcher on last night’s slate against the divisional-rival Seattle Mariners on the road. He went 8.1 innings of no-hit ball before allowing back-to-back singles and being relieved. Greinke also added a walk and nine strikeouts in the outing.

Outlook for the rest of the season: This was most likely Greinke’s final start of the regular season. He has been sensational as a member of the Astros rotation since being traded there at the deadline. In 10 starts, he is 8-1 with a 3.02 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in that span. He will most likely be a Game 3 starter in the ALDS and should be great during the postseason.

9/26 DFS Winner: Josh Donaldson

Another winner from the MLB Cheatsheet was Josh Donaldson of the Atlanta Braves. He was listed as a value third baseman going against the Kansas City Royals in an interleague matchup. He went 3-for-6 with three doubles, two runs scored and four RBI.

Outlook for the rest of the season: Donaldson needed a game like this before the season ended since he was on a massive cold stretch. Going into last night’s game, Donaldson was 1-for-22 in his last six games. With the NLDS beginning next weekend, it was crucial for him to get his bat going and begin to look as close to the 2015 A.L. MVP as he can.

Upgrade now!

9/26 DFS Winner: Franmil Reyes

If you seriously aren’t a Premium member by now, what are you waiting for to join the family and win some money? Jason was on fire with the Cheatsheet and hit on another value spot, this time in the outield. Franmil Reyes had a great night against the divisionrival Chicago White Sox, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Outlook for the rest of the season: In his 47 games played since being traded to Cleveland, Reyes has a .293 OBP and a .737 OPS. For the Indians to get into the playoffs, they need their offense to click. Do not get your hopes up for Franmil Reyes to begin hitting in the final few games of the regular season.

9/26 DFS Winner: Sorano Cirstea

This was a solid bet from our Cash with the Flash article, that you can get as a Premium Gold member. Sorano Cirstea won in three sets against Danka Kovinic in their quarter-final matchup. Cirstea was slated as the eight seed heading into the Tashkent Open and will face off against Katarina Zavatska early Thursday morning. Expect Cirstea to be the favorite going into the matchup.

We’re looking at an eight-game schedule here and that’s the perfect amount for DFS. What’s strange here is the fact that we have four of these games being played in extreme pitcher’s parks. That makes things very strange with a Yankees-Red Sox matchup also on the schedule and it will take some unique lineup construction in order to take down a tourney. With that in mind, let’s get into our best 9/9 DFS Hitting Plays and Stacks.

9/9 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Cleveland Indians vs. Patrick Sandoval

This was a pretty easy pick, as Cleveland is easily the best stack on the board. The reason for that is because they get to face Patrick Sandoval, who’s pitching to a 4.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP this season. What really makes the Indians scary is the fact that they added two potent righties at the trade deadline, making this one of the best lineups in the league against left-handers. That’s why Vegas has given them an implied run total north of five in this stellar spot and why they are my favorite stack on the board.

New York Yankees vs. Eduardo Rodriguez

It’s strange to stack a team against a guy like Rodriguez but it’s tough to fade the Yankees anytime they face a lefty. What more do I need to say than Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Edwin Encarnacion, Gleyber Torres, D.J. Lemahieuand Luke Voit. Those are just the righties that they’ll be sending out there against E-Rod and that’s bad news no matter who the pitcher is. It’s also crystal clear by the fact that New York ranks fourth in both SLG and OPS against left-handed pitching this season. All of that doesn’t even take into consideration that they’re hitting in Fenway Park, which is one of the best hitting environments in the Majors. Dating back to 2016, Rodriguez has a 4.80 ERA and 1.42 WHIP against this potent Yankees team.

9/9 DFS Hitting Sneaky Stack of the Day

New York Mets vs. Merrill Kelly

While the Mets have a modest team total south of five, they appear to be one of the best stacks on the board. The reason for that is because they face Merrill Kelly and his 4.69 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He’s been worse recently, pitching to a 7.36 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over his last eight starts. This offense is a little better than most people might think too, with the Mets ranked 11th in OBP, 13th in OPS and 12th in xwOBA.

9/9 DFS Hitting Catcher

Wilson Ramos, NYM vs. ARI

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,500)

Ramos is always one of the first catchers that I consider and I truly don’t understand why these sites keep his price so low. We’re talking about a guy with a .297 AVG, .347 OBP, .466 SLG and .813 OPS dating back to 2016. That simply makes him one of the best hitting-catchers in the game and he comes into this matchup absolutely raking. Over his last 29 games, Ramos is hitting .404 en route to a .980 OPS.

9/9 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Luke Voit, NYY at BOS

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,400)

Voit is really the only Yankee who’s a great value on these DFS sites and that’s why we’re going to ride him as our primary first basemen. It’s truly amazing what this dude has done since putting on the pinstripes, accruing a .287 AVG, .390 OBP, .533 SLG and .923 OPS since joining NY last season. What makes that even more intriguing are his absurd splits, with Voit generating a .380 OBP and .950 OPS against lefties since the beginning of last season. While it’s a small sample size, we can’t overlook the fact that Voit is 4-for-7 against E-Rod with three extra-base hits as well.

9/9 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Robinson Cano, NYM vs. ARI

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,900)

Those ugly Kelly statistics from the stacks write-up definitely adds to Cano’s value here, as he’s looked like a different player since returning from the IL. Over his last seven games. Cano is hitting .565 while collecting four doubles and two homers in that span. That’s huge for a guy who’s really only had success against right-handers this season, posting a .282 AVG, .498 SLG and .818 OPS against them. Those numbers are still below his impressive career averages and we’ll look for him to continue this resurgence against a struggling pitcher like Kelly.

9/9 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Alex Bregman, HOU vs. OAK

DK ($5,200)   FD ($4,400)

In such a short slate, it’s going to be tough to fade someone as hot as Bregman. Over his last 32 games, Bregman is hitting .411 en route to a .490 OBP, .766 SLG and 1.256 OPS. That’s really scary for a regression candidate like Mike Fiers, as his 3.75 ERA is way off of his 5.22 xFIP. Vegas knows this though and that’s why the Astros are projected for more than five runs.

DFS Hitting Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE at LAA

DK ($5,000)   FD ($4,200)

If we’re stacking the Indians, that means we simply can’t fade Lindor. The numbers from Sandoval are obviously impactful to Frankie’s value but it’s the recent form that really draws us into using the smiling shortstop. Over his last 51 games, Lindor has accrued a .307 AVG, .592 SLG and .941 OPS. Those stellar numbers don’t even consider his speed, with Lindor being one of the AL leaders with 20 steals. The splits are simply the icing on the cake, with Lindor generating a .377 OBP and .895 OPS against left-handers dating back to 2017.

9/9 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Franmil Reyes, CLE at LAA

DK ($3,900)   FD ($3,300)

Reyes might be my favorite outfield play of the day. The main reason why is because he should be batting cleanup against Sandoval. That’s really no surprise when you see that Reyes’has a .520 SLG and .271 ISO this season. Those are simply some of the best power numbers in the game, as he’s been even better recently. Over his last 15 games, Reyes has a .321 AVG, .419 OBP, .698 SLG and 1.117 OPS. Getting to face a lefty is simply a bonus, with Reyes accumulating a .306 AVG, .383 OBP, .552 SLG and .935 OPS against them since the beginning of last season.

Corey Dickerson, PHI vs. ATL

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,000)

If you’ve been following me this season, you know how much I adore Dickerson. This masher is simply one of the best hitters in baseball when he faces righties and it’s time people start treating him as such. For his career, CD has a .243 ISO and .363 wOBA with the platoon advantage in his favor. His splits are even more absurd this season, with Dickerson generating a .360 OBP, .588 SLG, .273 ISO, .382 wOBA and .948 OPS against right-handers. That’s horrifying for Mike Foltynewicz in a hitter’s haven like Citizen’s Bank Park, with Folty pitching to a 5.28 ERA and 1.41 WHIP this season.

Aaron Judge, NYY at BOS

DK ($4,600)   FD ($4,400)

Don’t look now but Judge is starting to heat up. Over his last 19 games, Judge is hitting .299 while providing a .675 SLG and 1.017 OPS. The thing that really makes him attractive here are his splits, with Judge amassing a .344 AVG, .454 OBP, .656 SLG and 1.109 OPS against left-handers so far this season. That doesn’t even take into consideration that he’s Top-5 in both exit velocity and barrel rate. That gives him arguably the best hitting profile in the Majors.

Today we’ll be examining a fine 12-game Tuesday 9/3 DFS MLB slate (one without a super-obvious Coors Field game), looking to embrace the variance, find some compelling stacks to focus on in our lineup builds, and list some viable hitters in GPPs – as well as some additional plays that might be worth a punt or contrarian pivot.

9/3 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

AtlantaBraves vs. Wilmer Font/T.J. Zeuch

The Braves have the highest implied total (6 runs) on the 12-game 7:05 slate, with the Dodgers close behind. Both Font and Zeuch (the proposed primary reliever who’ll be making his MLB debut) are RHPs — so it’s safe to stack the 1-5 hitters as there are no weak links in the bunch. Don’t overthink this one – the Braves have punished RHPs, are a better offense at home this season, and have plenty of value bats if you’re building a non-traditional stack.

LosAngeles Dodgers vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

The Dodgers have six hitters in their projected lineup with ISOmarks north of .200 against RHP, including some of the best xwOBA marks on the slate(Will Smith at .487 and Cody Bellinger at .446). Feel free to attack Chi Chi’sterrible splits against lefties regardless of the barely beneficial shift awayfrom Coors. Joc Pederson (who you will have to double check on because he leftMonday’s game after a leaping catch at the wall), Corey Seager, Bellinger, A.J.Pollock and Matt Beaty should be the core of this group.

ClevelandIndians vs. Dylan Cease

It’s been a few days, but the Indians bats came alive last night and knocked around Ross Detwiler, and the matchup against Dylan Cease shouldn’t offer too much resistance. Cease is vulnerable to both RHBs and lefties, so it doesn’t really matter which side of the plate your stacked players hit from – just make sure you’re building around a core of Francisco Lindor, Oscar Mercado and Carlos Santana. You have myriad options for additional power bats in the heart of the lineup and a bit further down (Yasiel Puig, Franmil Reyes, Jakob Bauers), so it might be worth it to build some variety if you’re multi-entering in GPPs.

9/3 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Minnesota Twins at Rick Porcello

Boston Red Sox vs. Randy Dobnak

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Matthew Strahm

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Dereck Rodriguez

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Sandy Alcantara

9/3 DFS Hitting Catcher

JasonCastro, MIN at BOS

DK ($3,700)   FD($2,400)

We’re looking for some value at catcher given some of the prices of these bigger bats in the stacks we need to fit, and Castro is exactly the type of hitter we’re looking for – a sneaky option with ample power and plenty of bats surrounding him. If the Twins roll out Castro against Porcello, I’d be comfortable with the BvP data (5-for-13 with a HR) and overall against RHP (.476 xwOBA).

9/3 DFS Hitting First Baseman

JoshBell, PIT vs. MIA

DK ($5,100)   FD($4,400)

You’re going to get Josh Bell at a very low ownership, and while the $5,100 price seems oppressive, the Pirates still sport a decent implied total and Bell (.426 xwOBA vs. RHP) might fly under the radar in this slate. The Pirates aren’t the safest stack, but Bell stands out as an excellent one-off, especially if you’re steering clear of Freddie Freeman and looking for a more contrarian play.

9/3 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

KoltenWong, STL vs. SF

DK($4,300)   FD ($3,100)

Wong is red-hot at the plate, with a seven-game hitting streak and a triple in three straight games (the record is five, by Chief Wilson in 1912). A streaky hitter who’s having an excellent second half (.381/.462/.545 in 42 games since the break), Wong’s got an affordable price tag and could be banging out some more extra base hits from that 2-slot against the Giants.

9/3 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

RafaelDevers, BOS vs. MIN

DK ($5,400)   FD($4,100)

Devers and the Red Sox are a formidable stack against just about anyopposing pitcher, but this is an especially tasty matchup with rookie Randy Dobnakon the mound for the Twins. Since Anthony Rendon and Alex Bregman aren’t in idealspots Tuesday, I’m rolling with Devers and his obscene metrics vs. RHP (.429xwOBA, .247 ISO). He’s never far from a run-producing spot and he’s got all theprotection he needs surrounded by the Boston sluggers.

9/3 DFS Hitting Shortstop

AdalbertoMondesi, KC vs. DET

DK ($5,200)   FD($3,100)

Mondesiobviously missed being a part of the Royals lineup, because he went 4-for-5with two runs scored and three SB in the Royals’ 6-4 comeback win against theOrioles on Sunday. He’s facing a LHP in Daniel Norris on Tuesday and he’sclearly recovered from his shoulder injury – and while the price on DK issteep, he’s very affordable on FD.

9/3 DFS Hitting Outfielders

MattJoyce, ATL vs. TOR

DK ($3,900)   FD($2,400)

Joyceis a classic value GPP play because of his power potential and assault on RHP(.392 xwOBA). It’s also helpful that both the projected starter and primaryreliever are right handers – which could give him an extra AB or two before he mustface a lefty out of the bullpen or get pulled for a pinch hitter or defensivereplacement. In a search for some bargains to offset the rest of the Bravesstack, Joyce could be a key cog.

MaxKepler, MIN at BOS

DK ($5,300)   FD($3,500)

MaxKepler is batting leadoff for one of the top stacks of the day, so he’s definitelya fly ball hitter to build around despite his steep price tag on DraftKings. He’scoming off a 2-for-5 day in a win over Detroit and is slashing .258/.339/.537with 36 home runs and 90 RBI over 127 games in 2019. He’s an excellent roadhitter (.266/.357/.548) and he’s a real bargain on FanDuel at just $3,500.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC vs. SEA

DK ($4,300)   FD($3,100)

It’s always a weather-dependent recommendation to use or fade batsin Wrigley, so make sure there’s not a stiff breeze blowing in before youcommit to Schwarber here. The enigmatic Schwarber does his best work at homevs. RHP (125 wRC+ in 2019, .250/.355/.545 slash), and while he’s not the besthitter in high leverage spots (65 wRC+), that’s a figure that’s bound toimprove. King Felix is not the pitcher he once was, and it’s a fine spot forlefty mashers against him.

Additional 9/3 DFS hitting options (by position):

C: Carson Kelly, Chris Herrmann (value)

1B: Anthony Rizzo, Matt Olson

2B: Brock Holt (value), Eduardo Escobar

3B: Matt Carpenter, Abraham Toro

SS: Corey Seager, Nick Ahmed

OF: Matt Beaty, Dexter Fowler, Nick Castellanos, Adam Jones. Franmil Reyes, Oscar Mercado

Whenever we have games spread all throughout the day, I try my best to cater to every DFS player out there. What’s interesting here is that we only have three games during the day, so I’ll only offer up two plays from that slate. That should help DFS players who want to play both schedules and that’s our goal here at Win Daily Sports! So, let’s get into our 8/28 DFS Hitting picks!

8/28 DFS Hitting Catcher

Robinson Chirinos, HOU vs. TB

DK ($3,400)   FD ($2,900)

Trying to pick a catcher is always the toughest part of this article but Chirinos is a nice value on this slate. The reason for that is because of his matchup, with the Astros facing Ryan Yarbrough. While the Tampa lefty has been brilliant this season, his 3.89 xFIP indicates that he has some negative regression headed his way. That’s huge for a guy like Chirinos, with the Astros backstop generating a .447 OBP and .982 OPS against southpaws so far this season.

8/28 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Matt Olson, OAK at KC

DK ($4,700)   FD ($3,500)

A power hitter like Olson becomes a great pick against a homer-prone pitcher like Jakob Junis. A 4.89 ERA and 1.40 WHIP from Junis is bad enough but his 58 dingers allowed since 2018 is one of the worst marks in baseball too. That’s got to light up Olson’s eyes, with the left-handed slugger posting a .511 SLG and .260 ISO since 2017. He’s been even better against right-handers in that span, tallying a .351 OBP, .543 SLG and .894 OPS against them. Olson is feeling it right now too, amassing a .382 OBP over his last 17 fixtures.

8/28 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Gleyber Torres, NYY at SEA

DK ($4,600)   FD ($4,400)

Let’s kick off our day-slate recommendations with the hottest second baseman in the league. This dude has been absolutely ridiculous the last few weeks and it’s scary just how good this 22-year-old kid could be. Over his last 22 games, Torres has 13 homers en route to a .786 SLG and 1.126 OPS, with 10 of those dingers coming in his last 15 fixtures. Those fantastic numbers since the All-Star break have led to a breakout season with 33 dingers in total. Torres has a career .531 SLG and .869 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor too and we definitely have to consider him against a guy like Justus Sheffield.

8/28 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Miguel Sano, MIN at CWS

DK ($5,500)   FD ($3,900)

Sano is a favorite of mine and I’m just thrilled to see him hitting so well. A .579 SLG, .923 OPS, .378 wOBA and .332 ISO is obviously all career-highs, as it really shows just how powerful this dude is. His .250 career ISO is still a rather impressive mark and it’s clear that things are finally clicking for the big man. The reason we like him today is because he gets the platoon advantage against a terrible lefty. The Twins face Ross Detwiler, who’s got an unsightly 6.29 ERA and 1.72 WHIP dating back to 2015. That’s why Minnesota is projected for more than six runs, with Sano accumulating a .394 wOBA, .341 ISO, .612 SLG and .966 OPS against left-handers this season.

8/28 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Trevor Story, COL vs. BOS

DK ($5,300)   FD ($4,300)

While this isn’t a great matchup against Eduardo Rodriguez, Story is always in play at home against a lefty. Let’s start with his Coors Field numbers, with Story totaling a .326 AVG, .399 OBP, .683 SLG and 1.082 OPS at home this season. That’s pretty close to his numbers against lefties, with the shortstop posting a .383 OBP, .637 SLG and 1.020 OPS since the beginning of 2017. That means he’s hard t fade anytime he faces a lefty at home and Rodriguez surely has to be scared of Coors Field with the Rockies projected for more than six runs.

8/28 DFS Hitting Outfielders

J.D. Martinez, BOS at COL

DK ($5,600)   FD ($4,700)

How can this possibly go wrong? Arguably the best pure hitter in baseball hitting in Coors Field is a recipe for success, particularly someone as hot as Martinez. Over his last 48 games, J.D. is putting together a 349 .AVG .420 OBP, .646 SLG and 1.066 OPS. Those are actually not that far off of his season-long numbers and he should do some serious damage in a place like Coors Field. What we like here is that he gets to face Peter Lambert, who’s pitching to a 6.40 ERA and 1.61 WHIP this season.

Aaron Judge, NYY at SEA

DK ($4,500)   FD ($4,300)

We foreshadowed this a bit with our final sentence in the Torres write-up, as we love the Yankees on this slate. Any time they face a weak left-hander, all of the powerful righties are in play. Judge is just that, as he and the Bronx Bombers will oppose Sheffield and his 6.43 ERA and 2.29 WHIP. That’s truly frightening against a stud like Judge, who actually leads the league in exit velocity and hard-hit percentage. Those elite advanced statistics have been really shining recently, with Judge hitting four doubles and five homers over his last 14 games. Not to mention, he also has a .478 OBP, .667 SLG and 1.144 OPS against southpaws so far this season and is priced way too low on DK.

Franmil Reyes, CLE at DET

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,200)

After a couple of stud outfielders, let’s give you a value play. Reyes is just that and it’s truly hard to understand why his price remains so low. We’re talking about a slugger with a .513 SLG and .271 ISO being priced around a bunch of minor leaguers. What makes it even more bizarre is that Reyes has four dingers over his last three games while knocking out six homers in total over his last 13 fixtures. That means the power stroke is strong right now, which is not a good thing for Jordan Zimmermann and his 6.48 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.

Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the Day

Play MLB Player Prop Games and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Aaron Civale Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Adam Plutko just struck out nine Tigers on Tuesday and I expect Civale to have a similar performance. The rookie is pitching to a 1.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP and gets to face a Detroit lineup who ranks last in runs scored, xwOBA and K rate.

We killed it on Monday with players like Bo Bichette, Rougned Odor and Matt Adams and we’re going to look to build off that momentum here. It is Wednesday, so that means we have baseball spread all throughout the day. I always try to offer up players from different slates to cater to each of you and I feel as though we have some great 8/14 DFS Hitting plays here!

8/14 DFS Hitting Catcher

Carson Kelly, ARI at COL

DK ($5,200)   FD ($3,400)

If you’ve been following my articles, you already know who we’re riding at catcher. Kelly gets to face a lefty and that means he’s getting into our lineups. Let’s take another look at those ridiculous splits, with Kelly generating a .400 AVG, .494 OBP, .800 SLG and 1.294 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor this season. That doesn’t even take into consideration that his team’s total is approaching seven in a hitter’s haven like Coors Field. Not to mention, he faces Kyle Freeland and his 7.06 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.

8/14 DFS Hitting First Basemen

Pete Alonso, NYM at ATL

DK ($5,500)   FD ($4,100)

Alonso has seen his price drop a little bit because of a slide after the All-Star break but it’s really tough to fade The Polar Bear against a lefty. A .657 SLG and 1.017 OPS against left-handers speaks for itself and it’s really not far off of his season-long averages. In fact, Alonso has a .592 SLG and .955 OPS for the year. That’s truly frightening for a guy like Dallas Keuchel, who just allowed eight runs to the putrid Miami Marlins in his last start.

8/14 DFS Hitting Second Basemen

Hanser Alberto, BAL at NYY

DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

Alberto is always a favorite of mine when he faces a left-hander and it’s really shocking just how low these DFS sites keep his price. It’s simply hard to argue with these splits, with Alberto providing a .414 AVG, .541 SLG and .970 OPS against southpaws this season. That means that these prices should be about $1,000 more and him batting leadoff only adds to his value. It’s not like J.A. Happ is a pitcher we need to worry about either, with the Yankees lefty pitching to a 5.48 ERA and 1.35 WHIP this season.

8/14 DFS Hitting Third Basemen

Vladimir Guerrero Jr, TOR vs. TEX

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,500)

All of these youngsters are really starting to blossom in Toronto and it’s no doubt that Guerrero is the centerpiece to this club. Many people projected him as the best prospect since Bryce Harper and he’s really showing signs of that player recently. In fact, Guerrero is hitting .388 over his last 22 games en route to a .682 SLG and 1.129 OPS. That’s awesome with Cavan Biggio and Bo Bichette also playing well and this is a completely different lineup right now with all of these young studs performing. Getting the platoon advantage for Guerrero is the bonus, as he’ll oppose Kolby Allard, who’s only made one Major League appearance.

8/14 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Carlos Correa, HOU at CWS

DK ($5,200)   FD ($4,400)

We definitely want to get some Astros in there against Ross Detwiler. The simple fact is, Detwiler has been pitching in the minors for the majority of the last three seasons and its easy to see why. In 147 innings in the Majors since 2015, Detwiler is pitching to a 6.32 ERA and 1.75 WHIP. Those are disastrous numbers against a righty-heavy lineup like this and Correa should help do some serious damage in the heart of their order. Not only does Correa have a .418 OBP and 1.011 OPS against left-handers this season, he’s also got a 1.138 OPS over his last 13 games in total.

8/14 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Ronald Acuna, ATL vs. NYM

DK ($5,700)   FD ($4,500)

This guy is going nuts right now. I truly believe that this is the most talented player in our game and he’s showing why with his recent form. Over his last 10 games, Acuna has eight homers, 14 runs scored, 15 RBI and three steals en route to a .378 AVG, .933 SLG and 1.382 OPS. Those are obviously ridiculous numbers but his 33 homers and 28 steals for the year shows that it’s no fluke. That form paired with this matchup is a beautiful thing, with Acuna getting the platoon advantage against Steven Matz, who’s pitching to a 4.49 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Franmil Reyes, CLE vs. BOS

DK ($3,700)   FD ($2,800)

Reyes has been terrible since joining the Indians but he’s got too much potential to be priced this cheap. The 29 home runs speak loudly, as a .507 SLG and .264 ISO shows the sort of power potential this big masher has. That alone makes him a nice value at this price and Cleveland batting him cleanup shows that they have trust in him. It’s not like this is a scary matchup either, with Reyes getting the platoon advantage against Brian Johnson’s 7.23 ERA and 2.03 WHIP.

Eloy Jimenez, CWS vs. HOU

DK ($3,400)   FD ($3,000)

Eloy is a regular in my articles and I truly believe that he’s going to be a special player for years to come. The 18 homers in 81 games tell you everything you need to know about this kid, as he simply has elite power. What makes him intriguing on this slate is that he gets to face a lefty, with Jimenez generating a 1.215 OPS against lefties last year at Triple-A. Wade Miley is not a southpaw we should fear either, as his 4.43 xFIP is way off of his 2.99 ERA.

Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the Day

Acuna/Donaldson/Alonso Over 7.5 Total Bases

All of these guys are in this article, so this was a relatuvely easy pick.

Play MLB Player Prop Games and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Vogelbach, Smith and Santana Over 6.5 Total Bases

We have to get Mariners in there against Edwin Jackson. A 9.35 ERA and 1.96 WHIP is simply unacceptable and we definitely believe these guys could reach 10 bases between them.

This Saturday August 3rd slate is all about landing the right bats. Follow my studs and value plays and lock in the MLB DFS Picks of Destiny.

Check out our Data Driven Projections for FanDuel Hitters for Premium Gold Members.

MLB DFS Hitters: Home Run Hunting on the Main Slate

Catcher: Mitch Garver ($3,500 FD; $5,200 DK) is hitting .431 ISO/.500 wOBA vs lefties this year, which is only behind Nelson Cruz on the Twins. Danny Duffy (4.42 ERA) will be tossing to Garver on his home turf tonight. Garver certainly has the power (.629 SLG) to get his ninth home run in only his 75th AB against southpaws. Keep an eye on where he bats today. The closer to the top of the lineup he is, the more I like him in MLB DFS. He had admittedly been on a cold streak lately before busting out of it yesterday. Let’s hop on the beginning of another hot streak in Minnesota.

First Base Stud: Rhys Hoskins ($4,200 FD; $4,600 DK) I am going with some Phillies today. Hoskins also gets the pleasure of taking on Ross Detwiler. He is batting .307 ISO/ .454 wOBA vs left handed pitching this season. I usually hate stacking Phillies, but the matchup is too good to ignore today. Hoskins has a couple of long balls in his last four games and bats better at home. He has five more home runs at Citizens Bank Park this year with five less at bats than on the road.

Honorable Mention: Edwin Encarnacion

First Base Value: Albert Pujols ($2,900 FD; $4,300 DK) There is something about this man hitting value, and home runs, on the weekends. I know it is coincidence, but it just keeps happening. We are looking for cheap, under owned MLB DFS players with a high ceiling and Pujols fits the bill. Adam Plutko (4.83 ERA) is on the mound and he has given up 11 home runs in his last six home games this season. You do the math..

Second Base: Jose Altuve ($4,200 FD; $4,600 DK) goes against lefty Marco Gonzalez (.421 ERA) at home tonight. Altuve is on fire recently and bats .423 ISO/.540 wOBA vs lefties on the season. He has one game in his last six where he hasn’t scored double digit FanDuel points. Lock him in as a high floor, high ceiling bat.

Second Base Value: Austin Nola ($2,500 FD; $4,300 DK) is doing a lot with his newfound playing time recently. He bats .333/.489 SLG vs righties this season and the Mariners are starting to take notice. He had a goose egg last night but the two games before that he had three hits in each. At $2,500 I will go back to Nola expecting him to hit value, with potential to bust out. Aaron Sanchez (6.07 ERA) is on the bump in Houston and he absolutely gives it up all the time. Just go take a look at his season long game logs, it’s ugly.

Shortstop Stud: Marcus Semien ($3,400 FD; $4,300 DK) is batting leadoff for a team I like a lot today in the Oakland A’s. They face Dakota Hudson (3.88 ERA) who has given up 10 homers in his last seven appearances. Semien has 14 homers on the season and bats .156 ISO/.358 vs righties. Recently he has been a production machine and is always very low owned. Semien hasn’t put up a zero (in fantasy points) in his last 10 outings. He is going to get his, and no one will be on him.

Shortstop Mid: Jean Segura ($3,600 FD; $4,300 DK) is another Phillie I have my eye on. Hitting .336 ISO/.415 wOBA this season he is the best lefty hitter on his team, this year, if you are just looking at MLB DFS stats. Segura has nine hits in his last five games and a homer is coming soon. If the Phillies can’t take advantage of Detwiler (6.35 ERA) I may not roster them again this season.

Third Base Mid: Renato Nunez($3,200 FD; $4,700 DK) I still like how he is swinging the bat right now and no one ever plays him. In July he hit .304/.576 SLG and has been one of the Orioles key contributors. I don’t mind the bats surrounding him tonight (Mancini, Santander and Villar) either. Contrary to popular belief the Orioles can actually get it going some nights. He has 11 home runs on the season vs lefties and will be hitting vs one tonight. The pitcher Thomas Pannone has 5.98 ERA and has given up 10 runs in his last three starts. It probably won’t help him that Baltimore is a hitter’s park. Back to Nunez I go.

Third Base Value: Matt Thaiss ($2,500 FD; $4,100 DK) is a cheap bat with a lot of pop. He has four home runs in his last seven games. He hits .325 ISO/ .329 wOBA and has recently been contributing virtually every night. He is still very cheap for his skill set and makes a nice punt. The pitcher he faces, Adam Plutko, has given up 15 home runs in his last 10 games.

Third Base Honorable Mention: Matt Chapman

Outfield Stud: Nelson Cruz ($4,400 FD; $5,200 DK) vs. a lefty is really all you need know. He has 10 homers in 75 ABs and bats .440 ISO/.455 wOBA. Danny Duffy (L) is pitching for the Royals tonight and all this guy does is give up multiple run games. He should get an early shower tonight. Play Cruz and the Twins stack.

Outfield MidRange: Franmil Reyes ($2,900 FD; $4,000 DK) is new to Cleveland and still needs to show the Indians first hand why they traded for him. He has slugged 24 home runs this season vs righties with a .301 ISO/.371 wOBA and gets a nice pitching matchup today vs Felix Pena (R). In the entire season, Pena has only made it to six innings twice. Indians will put up some runs here.

Outfield Mid/Value: Phillip Ervin ($2,800 FD; $3,900 DK) has 17 hits in only 32 ABs with two home runs. He goes against the struggling Dallas Keuchel (R) in the hitter friendly SunTrust Park. Keuchel has 10 runs in his last 17 innings which is not what the Braves were hoping for when they acquired him. I don’t necessarily expect a Reds offensive explosion here, but Ervin at his price may be worth a MLB DFS stab. He is hitting .460 ISO/.649 wOBA.

Outfield Honorable Mention: Max Kepler

I primary used FanDuel when building optimal MLB DFS lineups.
