Francisco Lindor

Pitchers and catchers! My favorite three word sentence has finally arrived along with thoughts of springtime. Baseball season is coming closer, so this would be a great time to look at future bets for the AL MVP Race and NL MVP Race we can sweat out with each other all season.

AL MVP Race:

The AL MVP Race is Mike Trout vs. the world, with the departure of Mookie Betts to the Dodgers. Trout currently sits at +150 with Aaron Judge and Francisco Lindor each at +1000. Even with Mike Trout being the clear favorite for the foreseeable future, there isn’t enough of an upside to betting on him. I personally wouldn’t put my money on Judge or Lindor either. Judge may be coming for that 2017 AL MVP trophy, but he’s been hurt the last two years and hasn’t been able to find the magic he had in his rookie season. I wouldn’t be surprised if he misses some time again this year. I also think Lindor has a great shot at being traded at the deadline so Cleveland can make sure they aren’t in the situation the Red Sox were in this offseason.

My play here is Gleyber Torres at +4000. He’s moving over to shortstop, a significant step up in defensive importance, which will be looked at with wide eyes by baseball writers. The Yankees also lost a significant amount of players to injury last year, but Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez have a chance to miss time again. If those guys all miss time and Torres stays healthy, a 40 home run season on a 110 win team might be enough to win MVP honors. Don’t forget that even though Trout has all these MVPs, he has missed some important time the last few seasons as well, allowing another player a chance to swipe his crown. Is there some strange stat about how Trout has missed many games in a season but still wins or is top 3 in voting for the MVP.

An even longer shot for the AL MVP that is deserving of a look could be Gary Sanchez at +10000. For many of the same reasons as Torres winning, Sanchez could have the same opportunity. It’s usually difficult for a not-so-great defensive catcher/DH to win, but if everyone else on the Yankees is hurt and he carries them, there’s a chance.

NL MVP Race:

The NL MVP Race should be much more interesting, assuming everyone stays healthy. Currently the 2018 AL MVP, Mookie Betts, has the best odds to take home the NL MVP title at +550. He is followed by Cody Bellinger (+700), Christian Yelich (+700), and Juan Soto (+1000). With three MVP winners in Betts, Bellinger, and Yelich all in the same race this one would be enjoyable just to sit back and watch, but throwing around some money on it peaks my interest.

I’m not looking to take either of the Dodgers because two guys that good on the same team will usually have a way of “splitting” votes. If one does get hurt and misses some time, the other is almost a lock for an uptick in votes, helping both of their cases. Yelich seems to have a great shot at the title each year but with missing time last year, he missed out on winning. I also think Soto is incredible, but I think +1000 isn’t enough. He’s riding high off that playoff run and I think the public will assume he does that for the entire season. Anthony Rendon won’t be in that lineup anymore, allowing more pitchers to go right around Soto and face a lesser threat on the Nationals.

The player I’m looking at for the NL MVP is Ronald Acuna Jr. at +1200. His odds will pay out a bit more than Soto, but I think he has a betting chance of winning the award. He came very close to the first 40/40 season since Alfonso Soriano in 2006, missing the feat by 3 stolen bases. He led the NL in runs and plate appearances last season and will have a great chance to do that again in 2020. The Braves have a great shot at repeating at the NL East champs, putting him on a winning team which (usually) helps. Let’s also not forget he’s patrolling center field and has a great glove, another reason to bump that WAR up. With that 40/40 season as close as it was last year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a significant run at it this year, so make sure if you’re drafting in the top 2 of your fantasy baseball league to snag him.

An outside shot for the NL MVP to look at is Pete Alonso at +4000. If the Mets win the NL East and Alonso does what he did last year, he could absolutely be considered.

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks ofthe Day

Cleveland Indians at DylanCease

With Jose Ramirez back, the Indians have another titanic bat in their lineup as they try to sneak into the playoffs via the Wild Card. Eliminated from securing their fourth straight AL Central title with Wednesday’s loss (coupled with a victory by the Minnesota Twins), the Indians have a Thursday night matchup that bodes well for the bats facing a hittable Dylan Cease (5.79 ERA). Expect Francisco Lindor to erase that poor showing last night and get some exposure to the 2-5 bats, along with Franmil Reyes and a dirt-cheap Mike Freeman ($3,200 DK, $2,500 FD) at the bottom of the order.

Oakland Athletics atSeattle Mariners

We’ve come to expect a lot from the A’s as September winds down, and this is a prime opportunity for the bats to come alive and pile on some runs on this 9/26 DFS slate. Mark Canha left the game early last night and Khris Davis is battling a stomach bug, but there are plenty of bats to go to in their stead, and while Felix Hernandez is a historically solid pitcher, he’s nearing the end of his career (6.51 ERA this season) and just isn’t the same old King Felix. The A’s also hit well on the road, with a .329 wOBA as a team. I like Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Marcus Semien.

Houston Astros at JaimeBarria

The Astros plan on sitting Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and George Springer, but that just means you can grab some value at the top of their lineup with Kyle Tucker and mix in some “next man up” types who’ve performed well in limited duty this season. They’re not my favorite stack for 9/26 DFS, but they’re certainly viable and a little cheaper to fit in without all the regulars.

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks toConsider

Chicago Cubs at Joe Musgrove – The Cubs face ahittable pitcher who can hand out free passes and get lit up as easily as hecan rack up the Ks.

New York Mets vs. Jordan Yamamoto – Yamamoto isn’t a bad young pitcher, but he struggles with RHBs and the Mets have a bunch of really good ones.

9/26 DFS HittingCatcher

Wilson Ramos, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,600)  FD ($2600)

Unfortunately, the pickings are slim at catcher today, so I’ll be looking to Wilson Ramos and his power upside. The Mets regular catcher is slashing .286/.350/.415 this season and Yamamoto has trouble with right-handed bats (.322wOBA vs. RHBs, .250 wOBA vs. LHBs). Just make sure he’s in the lineup before you lock him in.

9/26 DFS Hitting FirstBaseman

Matt Olson, OAK at SEA

DK (4,600)  FD ($3,700)

My affinity for Matt Olson is well-known among my peers, and he’s deliveredfor me time and again in GPPs. This matchup is an interesting one, because Olsonhas a .293 ISO and 150 wRC+ against righties. Olson, who’s been hitting forpower this month with a .345 ISO, will likely face a couple of RHPs and has agood chance at going deep in this game.

9/26 DFS Hitting SecondBaseman

Aledmys Diaz, HOU at LAA

DK($4,100)   FD ($2,900)

With some Astros sitting, Diaz probably gets another start tonight and is carrying a decent slash line (.271/.349/.457) into the 9/26 contest. He has a 122 wRC+ against RHPs this season, is fairly priced on DK and is unbelievably cheap on FD. It looks like I may give him a shot in about half my lineups this evening.

9/26 DFS Hitting ThirdBaseman

Matt Chapman, OAK at SEA

(DK $4,100)  FD ($3,600)

Mr. Chapman homered last night, is very affordable on both sites, and is slightly better against RHPs (124 wRC+ vs. RHPs, 122 wRC+ vs. LHPs). While he had a relatively quiet September, I like the matchup for Chapman against King Felix here here — and there are not many 3B who stick out in this slate other than him, Alex Bregman (who’s available at SS on DK), and Yoan Moncada.

9/26 DFSHitting Shortstop

Alex Bregman, HOU at LAA

DK ($2,600)  FD ($2,000)

Some of the veteran Astros players will get spelled tonight, but Bregman is slated to stay in the lineup and is red hot at the plate (3-4, two 2B, RBI, R last night). He sports a robust 168 wRC+ and is slashing .298/.421/.595 triple-slash line with 119 runs scored, 40 homers, 110 RBI and five steals this season. The hard-hitting Bregman is a fine place to anchor your SS slot.

9/26 DFS HittingOutfielders

Kyle Tucker, HOU at LAA

DK($4,800)   FD ($2,900)

Tucker draws the leadoff spot for 9/26 DFS a night after launching a solo homer against the Mariners. With Jose Altuve getting the day off, he takes over a prime spot in the Astros lineup and has done ell with his chances so far: The 22-year-old rookie outfielder is hitting .304/.339/.571 with 11 runs scored, three HRs, 10 RBI and five SB in 59 plate appearances this season. The price on DK is fair, but on FD he’s just way too cheap.

Brandon Nimmo, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,900)

I love Nimmo in the leadoff spot today for the Mets, who don’t havea lot to play for but still have an exciting group of young hitters. Nimmo hasa 133 wRC+ against RHPs in his career and will have plenty of run scoringopportunities here. He also has a 16.4 BB% facing RHPs in his career and a 19.7BB% this season against righties – a nice patience complement to his burgeoningpower.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC at PIT

DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

While he’s not much of a contact/average hitter, Schwarber has been heating up at the plate (2-4 last night with a pair of singles on Wednesday) just in time for his team to be eliminated from the playoffs. Schwarber is hitting .248/.337/.527 with 37 homers, 91 RBI and 80 runs scored in 152 games overall in 2019, and he’s got a great matchup vs. RHP Joe Musgrove.

 9/26 DFS Additional StackOptions:

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,700 DK, $3,000 FD), Sean Murphy ($4,000DK, $2,900 FD)

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900 DK, $3,900 FD), Pete Alonso ($5,000 DK,$4,000 FD)

2B: Ian Happ ($4,000 DK, $2,600 FD), Yolmer Sanchez ($2,700 DK) ($2,300FD)

3B: Yoan Moncada ($4,800 DK, $3,500 FD), David Fletcher ($3,900DK, $2,800 FD)

SS: Francisco Lindor ($4,600 DK, $4,200 FD), Jack Mayfield ($2,600 DK, $2,000 FD)

OF: Yordan Alvarez ($5,400 DK, $4,400 FD), Nick Castellanos ($4,600DK, $3,800 FD), Michael Brantley ($4,000 DK, $3,500 FD), Oscar Mercado ($4,900DK, $3,400 FD), Michael Conforto ($4,600 DK, $3,500 FD), Robbie Grossman, ($3,500DK, $2,400 FD),

We’ve got a 13-game main slate for 9/24 DFS and while a playoff picture is finally emerging and the season is winding down, there are still some high-upside hitters and stacks to get you prepped to win some green!

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Red Sox at Edinson Vólquez/Ariel Jurado

The Red Sox shouldn’t have problems getting to either Vólquez, who’s having a last hurrah in the big leagues before retiring, or Jurado, who has a 5.73 ERA this season and has trouble getting Ks. You may want to skip Betts, who’s been getting rest since coming back from a foot injury, but grab shares of J.D. Martinez, Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts and some of the more inexpensive bats (Mitch Moreland, Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley) that should help you make salary. I think the 2-5 plus Christian Vazquez (the projected 7 hitter) might be my favorite stack among the Red Sox bats.

Houston Astros at Justin Dunn/Tommy Milone

The Astros are always worth looking to considering their 121 team wRC+ and .349 wOBA, but they face a couple mashable pitchers and you don’t have to worry about splits since they rake just about everybody. Get some shares of the red-hot George Springer (three HRs on Sunday) as well as Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuri Gurriel and Yordan Alvarez. they have the highest implied total among the teams with set lines so far.

TorontoBlue Jays at Dylan Bundy

These teams have been bashing each other’s brains in, and while I prefer the Blue Jays side of this offensive tilt, the entire game stack is in play. It’s been a GPP winner recently, so I have no qualms about rolling out the usual suspects again: Cavan Biggio, Randal Grichuk, Rowdy Tellez, and value bats like Brandon Drury and Teoscar Hernandez – especially if Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. (illness) sits for a second consecutive day.

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Chicago Cubs at Mitch Keller – The Cubs are nearly out of the playoff picture thanks to the Cardinals, but for 9/24 DFS you shouldn’t consider them officially dead yet – and they’re a bunch who can still pile on the runs. The Pirates home park isn’t the best venue for stacks, so ownership should be relatively low.

Atlanta Braves at Danny Duffy – Plenty of bats to like for this potent Braves lineup facing the lefty in Kansas City, you’ll just have to leave out a couple since they’re all so good. I may be fading the Yankees in Tampa, but I’m not worried about the Braves against a hittable pitcher in the heartland.

Cleveland Indians vs. Hector Santiago – The Indians aren’t as consistent as the Braves offensively, but they have a bunch of lefty mashers with a special affinity for Santiago. The implied run total is over 5.5, which means you should have shares of the 1-5 bats along with some exposure to Franmil Reyes and Jordan Luplow. I might take a wait-and-see approach with Jose Ramirez, who’s set to be activated from the IL.

Oakland Athletics at Dillon Peters – The A’s aren’t as good against LHPs (.305 team wOBA), but it’s a viable contrarian stack to consider for 9/24 DFS. The implied total is also over 5.5 runs and seems a bit high — so tread lightly with this bunch.

9/24 DFS Hitting Catcher

Christian Vazquez, BOS at TEX

DK ($4,600)   FD($3,200)

Vazquez got a day off yesterday against the Rays, but he should beback in the lineup Tuesday in Texas. He’s got 3 homers in his last seven gamesand his overall numbers in 2019 have been impressive: .273/.316/.472 with 22 HRs.Digging a little deeper, we find a .232 road ISO, with 14 of his dingers comingaway from Fenway Park.

9/24 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Carlos Santana, CLE at DET

DK (4,900)   FD ($4,000)

Santana is having a career year, and I’m plugging him into most ofmy GPP builds against Hector Santiago. Hisseason slash sits at .288/.403/.529 with a 139 wRC+ and he’s destroying LHPsthis season (1.015 OPS, 162 wRC+ and .421 wOBA). There are many ways to go at1B on this slate, but Santana is my bet for a monster game.

9/24 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($4,900)   FD ($3,700)

Did you expect me to play some other than Biggio? He hit anotherbomb last night and has ben raking every time I use him in GPPs – from lastTuesday’s cycle and Thursday’s home run to helping me spike some decent cashesin last night’s Rally contests on FanDuel. He’s way too cheap on that site andhis price tag on DK should keep him from being chalk – especially with so manyhigh-priced arms.

9/24 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Manny Machado, SD vs. LAD (3B/SS on DK)

(DK $3,700)   FD($3,000)

It’s been a disappointing season for Machado, but he’d like to endit with some standout performances against his old team, the Dodgers. I lovethe matchup against LHP Rich Hill since Machado – with some really pronouncedsplits this season – hits .314/.401/.683 against southpaws. The price is rightfor Machado, and using him as a one-off or with OF Hunter Renfroe ($4,000 onDK, $3,100 on FD) – who’s another viable Padres power hitter with a 132 wRC+against LHPs – makes a lot of sense if you’re trying to find some value and buildingmultiple lineups.

9/24 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at SD

DK ($4,700)   FD($3,800)

Seger is finally hitting his groove as we near the postseason, andnow is a great time to plug him in at SS in the 9/24 DFS main slate. He’s got a123 wRC+ against RHPs and has a .381 WOBA and .314 ISO sine the start of September. There’s no time like the present, and presently, Corey Seager is raking.

Tired of losing money on your DFS and Sportsbook? Sign up today and become a winner whileturning your passion for sports into a second stream of income!

9/24 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Cody Bellinger, LOS at SD (1B/OF on DK)

DK ($4,800)   FD($3,200)

Cody might just ring that bell again on Tuesday night against “BadRonald” Bolanos, who’s given up three homers in 14 innings. Bellinger’s 166wRC+ and ridiculous .314/.414/.641 slash line vs. RHPs means he’ll be in all thelineups I can afford him in, regardless of the venue and the fact he’s on the road(149 wRC+ in away games this season).

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at KC

DK ($5,300)   FD ($4,400)

He makes for a fine one-off if you’re not using the Braves stack, and he’s putting up obscene numbers against both LHPs and RHPs. Another interesting stat about Acuna is that he’s slashing a robust .281/.370/.510 with a 125 wRC+ at home and .279/.361/.527 with a 128 wRC+on the road. There’s not a day that I don’t consider him, even against the league’s top pitchers and regardless of the lofty price tag.

Austin Hays, BAL at TOR
DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

Hays had a monster night in Toronto on Monday and he’s once again in a good spot facing a lefty. The 24-year-old slugger is slashing .302/.362/.535 in the 15 games he’s played in the majors, and he’s still very inexpensive on both sites. If he’s in the Orioles lineup on Tuesday, I’ll be grabbing shares.

9/24 DFS Additional Stack Options:

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD), Sean Murphy ($4,000DK, $3,100 FD)

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900 DK, $4,100 FD), Trey Mancini ($4,700 DK,$3,900 FD)

2B: Jose Altuve ($4,700 DK, $4,200 FD), DJ LeMahieu ($5,000 DK)($4,200 FD – 3B)

3B: Gio Urshela ($4,100 DK, $3,000 FD) Vladimir Guerrero Jr, ($3,800DK, $3,200 FD)

SS: Francisco Lindor ($5,400 DK, $4,300 FD), Nico Hoerner ($3,700DK, $3,000 FD)

OF: Anthony Santander ($4,000 DK, $3,400 FD), Brett Gardner ($4,500DK, $3,500 FD), Randal Grichuk ($4,100 DK, $3,000 FD), Ramon Laureano GPP($3,100 FD), Austin Riley GPP ($2,200 FD), Adam Duvall GPP ($2,400 FD)

We’ve got a loaded 14-game 7:05 EST main slate for MLB 9/17 DFS – one that we’ve got some high game totals for, including another big-time stack at Coors. The lineups get unstable toward the end of the year, but that just gives us more opportunities to embrace the variance and make it fun on this enormous slate.

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold right here! Projections, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more!

9/17 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

NewYork Mets at Tim Melville (NYM at COL)

The Mets are expensive but have the highest implied total on the slate. Last night they scored just four runs in Coors but on Tuesday get to face Melville, who’s been torched in his three home starts (.516 xwOBA, 9.00 ERA, 6.31 xFIP). I’ll be applying a liberal smattering of Mets hitters in most of my lineups, with most of my exposure coming with the first five hitters: Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, Michael Conforto, Robinson Cano and Pete Alonso. Wilson Ramos is a very affordable $2,900 on FD as well, where he can be used in one of two spots.

Boston Red Sox vs. Logan Webb (BOS vs. SF)

The Sox may be missing Mookie Betts (foot) but they’re still a powerful bunch of bats in a hitter’s park. Logan Webb has been tuned up for a .400 xwOBA vs. RHP) during his short time in the Majors, and he’s not going to like the ballpark shift from Oracle. The usual suspects (Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Andrew Benintendi) are all $5,000 or under on DK, and Mitch Moreland is just $4,200.

Toronto Blue Jays at Dylan Bundy/Chandler Shepherd

The Blue Jays are a sneaky stack in a slate with Coors Field on the docket, and they’ll be playing in Baltimore, where the homers fly out and the Orioles pitching staff has reached a new nadir in allowing the long ball. I’m stacking the 1-5 with occasional shares of Randal Grichuk ($4,300 DK) and Billy McKinney ($3,300 DK).

Cleveland Indians vs. John Schreiber/Spencer Turnbull (CLE vs.DET)

The Indians are underpriced for the matchup on this 9/17 DFS slate, whether it’s against Schreiber (the possible opener) or Turnbull, who’s really struggled this season (3-15 in 27 starts with a 4.77 ERA and 1.48 WHIP). I’m leaning toward mini-stacks considering there are so many other great matchups on this slate, but feel free to grab shares of the 1-5 hitters and get some exposure to the value bats (Franmil Reyes, Mike Freeman and Jordan Luplow, if he’s in the lineup).

9/17 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Atlanta Braves at Vince Velazquez (It’s tough to fadeFreeman and Co. in a hitter’s park)

Miami Marlins at LHP Alex Young (all the righties –including my guy Starlin Castro)

Colorado Rockies vs. Marcus Stroman (The contrarian side ofCoors against a decent RHP)

9/17 DFS Hitting Catcher

J.T. Realmuto, PHI at ATL

DK ($4,600)   FD ($3,900)

I’m a huge fan of Realmuto, who sports a .443 xwOBA and .227 ISO against LHPs over the past two seasons. It’s a one-off play that should command low ownership and provide a decent floor – as well as immense upside in GPPs.

9/17 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Rowdy Tellez, TOR at BAL

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,600)

Tellez has four homers in his last 11 games, crushes right-handedpitching (.453 xwOBA, .245 ISO since 2018), and bats fourth between Lourdes Gurrieland Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. Tellez is my double-dinger call of the day, and he’snot really thrown off by lefty relievers, either (.430 xwOBA against LHPs since2018).

9/17 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,700)

Biggio is another Jays bat I want exposure to in Camden Yards, where he’s already got three homers in five career games and a 168 OPS+ that screams GPP play. As part of stack or simply a value bat at a reasonable price, Biggio makes a solid play for his speed and power.

9/17 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Matt Chapman, OAK vs. KC

DK ($4,200)   FD ($3,600)

Chapman and his surging power numbers (4 HRs in September so far) couldbe overlooked on this slate, and if you’re wary of spending more than $5K for J.D.Davis but still want to get some other Coors bats in, he could be a big help. All these games matter for the A’s, and Chapman (.423 xwOBA and .250 ISO vs.RHPs since 2018) is the heart and soul of their lineup along with Matt Olsonand Marcus Semien, the other two Oakland bats with 30+ homers this year.

9/17 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. DET

DK ($4,800)   FD ($4,000)

Lindor is my favorite shortstop of this slate. He gets lotsof ABs and benefits from a circular Indians lineup that has some decent hittersat the bottom of the order – giving him some run-creating opportunities alongwith table-setting ability. His price is cheaper than Xander Bogaerts, Trevor Storyand Bo Bichette on DK (with just as much GPP upside) and he’s playable in allformats at home (where he owns a .386 wOBA and .403 xwOBA sine 2018) against theTigers.

 9/17 DFS Hitting Outfielders

J.D. Martinez, BOS vs. SF

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,200)

Idiscussed the Red Sox stack up top, but if there’s one bat from Boston I’d likein this matchup, it’s J.D. His .506 xwOBA vs. RHPs since 2018 (over a hugesample of 998 plate appearances) means he can hit all types of pitching (it’s apreposterous .560 vs. LHPs) and he’s still surrounded by Bogaerts andBenintendi, who both hit RHPs well. I’m banking on a three-run homer for the RedSox OF/DH in hitter-friendly Fenway against young Logan Webb (.400 xwOBA vs. RHP).

Oscar Mercado, CLE vs. DET

DK ($4,100)   FD ($3,000)

Thehome numbers for Mercado are impressive (.290/.340/.477) and his bat has beenshowing some life again (10 hits in his last 26 AB). You’re getting thetalented young OF at a discount on both sites, and he’s a great piece to havein Indians mini stacks along with Lindor and Carlos Santana.

Garrett Hampson, COL vs. NYM

DK ($3,500)   FD ($3,200)

Hampson is red-hot at the plate and is dirt cheap onDK. He’s played much better since getting more regular time, starting in theRockies’ last five straight and games and going 11-for-22 over that stretch(counting Monday night). He’s easy to overlook in the lineup as the No. 7 hitterand makes plenty of sense in both cash games and GPPs.

Additional options:

C:Roberto Perez ($3,600 DK, $2,900FD), Reese McGuire ($3,900 DK, $2,800 FD)

1B: Pete Alonso ($5,600 DK, $4,300 FD), Carlos Santana($4,300 DK, $3,900 FD)

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,700 DK, $3,600 FD), Jonathan Villar($4,700 DK, $3,800 FD)

3B: Vladimir Guerrero Jr, ($3,900 DK, $2,900 FD), EugenioSuarez ($4,500 DK, $3,900 FD)

SS: Bo Bichette ($5,400 DK, $3,900 FD), Xander Bogaerts ($5,000DK, 3,800 FD)

OF: Austin Meadows ($5,600 DK, $4,400 FD), Yordan Alvarez ($5,200DK, $4,100 FD), Brandon Nimmo ($4,500 DK, $3,900 FD), Khris Davis ($3,800 DK,$3,200 FD), Michael Brantley ($4,000 DK, $3,800 FD), Matt Joyce ($4,100 DK, $2,400FD)

We’re looking at an eight-game schedule here and that’s the perfect amount for DFS. What’s strange here is the fact that we have four of these games being played in extreme pitcher’s parks. That makes things very strange with a Yankees-Red Sox matchup also on the schedule and it will take some unique lineup construction in order to take down a tourney. With that in mind, let’s get into our best 9/9 DFS Hitting Plays and Stacks.

9/9 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Cleveland Indians vs. Patrick Sandoval

This was a pretty easy pick, as Cleveland is easily the best stack on the board. The reason for that is because they get to face Patrick Sandoval, who’s pitching to a 4.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP this season. What really makes the Indians scary is the fact that they added two potent righties at the trade deadline, making this one of the best lineups in the league against left-handers. That’s why Vegas has given them an implied run total north of five in this stellar spot and why they are my favorite stack on the board.

New York Yankees vs. Eduardo Rodriguez

It’s strange to stack a team against a guy like Rodriguez but it’s tough to fade the Yankees anytime they face a lefty. What more do I need to say than Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Edwin Encarnacion, Gleyber Torres, D.J. Lemahieuand Luke Voit. Those are just the righties that they’ll be sending out there against E-Rod and that’s bad news no matter who the pitcher is. It’s also crystal clear by the fact that New York ranks fourth in both SLG and OPS against left-handed pitching this season. All of that doesn’t even take into consideration that they’re hitting in Fenway Park, which is one of the best hitting environments in the Majors. Dating back to 2016, Rodriguez has a 4.80 ERA and 1.42 WHIP against this potent Yankees team.

9/9 DFS Hitting Sneaky Stack of the Day

New York Mets vs. Merrill Kelly

While the Mets have a modest team total south of five, they appear to be one of the best stacks on the board. The reason for that is because they face Merrill Kelly and his 4.69 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He’s been worse recently, pitching to a 7.36 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over his last eight starts. This offense is a little better than most people might think too, with the Mets ranked 11th in OBP, 13th in OPS and 12th in xwOBA.

9/9 DFS Hitting Catcher

Wilson Ramos, NYM vs. ARI

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,500)

Ramos is always one of the first catchers that I consider and I truly don’t understand why these sites keep his price so low. We’re talking about a guy with a .297 AVG, .347 OBP, .466 SLG and .813 OPS dating back to 2016. That simply makes him one of the best hitting-catchers in the game and he comes into this matchup absolutely raking. Over his last 29 games, Ramos is hitting .404 en route to a .980 OPS.

9/9 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Luke Voit, NYY at BOS

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,400)

Voit is really the only Yankee who’s a great value on these DFS sites and that’s why we’re going to ride him as our primary first basemen. It’s truly amazing what this dude has done since putting on the pinstripes, accruing a .287 AVG, .390 OBP, .533 SLG and .923 OPS since joining NY last season. What makes that even more intriguing are his absurd splits, with Voit generating a .380 OBP and .950 OPS against lefties since the beginning of last season. While it’s a small sample size, we can’t overlook the fact that Voit is 4-for-7 against E-Rod with three extra-base hits as well.

9/9 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Robinson Cano, NYM vs. ARI

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,900)

Those ugly Kelly statistics from the stacks write-up definitely adds to Cano’s value here, as he’s looked like a different player since returning from the IL. Over his last seven games. Cano is hitting .565 while collecting four doubles and two homers in that span. That’s huge for a guy who’s really only had success against right-handers this season, posting a .282 AVG, .498 SLG and .818 OPS against them. Those numbers are still below his impressive career averages and we’ll look for him to continue this resurgence against a struggling pitcher like Kelly.

9/9 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Alex Bregman, HOU vs. OAK

DK ($5,200)   FD ($4,400)

In such a short slate, it’s going to be tough to fade someone as hot as Bregman. Over his last 32 games, Bregman is hitting .411 en route to a .490 OBP, .766 SLG and 1.256 OPS. That’s really scary for a regression candidate like Mike Fiers, as his 3.75 ERA is way off of his 5.22 xFIP. Vegas knows this though and that’s why the Astros are projected for more than five runs.

DFS Hitting Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE at LAA

DK ($5,000)   FD ($4,200)

If we’re stacking the Indians, that means we simply can’t fade Lindor. The numbers from Sandoval are obviously impactful to Frankie’s value but it’s the recent form that really draws us into using the smiling shortstop. Over his last 51 games, Lindor has accrued a .307 AVG, .592 SLG and .941 OPS. Those stellar numbers don’t even consider his speed, with Lindor being one of the AL leaders with 20 steals. The splits are simply the icing on the cake, with Lindor generating a .377 OBP and .895 OPS against left-handers dating back to 2017.

9/9 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Franmil Reyes, CLE at LAA

DK ($3,900)   FD ($3,300)

Reyes might be my favorite outfield play of the day. The main reason why is because he should be batting cleanup against Sandoval. That’s really no surprise when you see that Reyes’has a .520 SLG and .271 ISO this season. Those are simply some of the best power numbers in the game, as he’s been even better recently. Over his last 15 games, Reyes has a .321 AVG, .419 OBP, .698 SLG and 1.117 OPS. Getting to face a lefty is simply a bonus, with Reyes accumulating a .306 AVG, .383 OBP, .552 SLG and .935 OPS against them since the beginning of last season.

Corey Dickerson, PHI vs. ATL

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,000)

If you’ve been following me this season, you know how much I adore Dickerson. This masher is simply one of the best hitters in baseball when he faces righties and it’s time people start treating him as such. For his career, CD has a .243 ISO and .363 wOBA with the platoon advantage in his favor. His splits are even more absurd this season, with Dickerson generating a .360 OBP, .588 SLG, .273 ISO, .382 wOBA and .948 OPS against right-handers. That’s horrifying for Mike Foltynewicz in a hitter’s haven like Citizen’s Bank Park, with Folty pitching to a 5.28 ERA and 1.41 WHIP this season.

Aaron Judge, NYY at BOS

DK ($4,600)   FD ($4,400)

Don’t look now but Judge is starting to heat up. Over his last 19 games, Judge is hitting .299 while providing a .675 SLG and 1.017 OPS. The thing that really makes him attractive here are his splits, with Judge amassing a .344 AVG, .454 OBP, .656 SLG and 1.109 OPS against left-handers so far this season. That doesn’t even take into consideration that he’s Top-5 in both exit velocity and barrel rate. That gives him arguably the best hitting profile in the Majors.

Today we’ll be examining a fine 12-game Tuesday 9/3 DFS MLB slate (one without a super-obvious Coors Field game), looking to embrace the variance, find some compelling stacks to focus on in our lineup builds, and list some viable hitters in GPPs – as well as some additional plays that might be worth a punt or contrarian pivot.

9/3 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

AtlantaBraves vs. Wilmer Font/T.J. Zeuch

The Braves have the highest implied total (6 runs) on the 12-game 7:05 slate, with the Dodgers close behind. Both Font and Zeuch (the proposed primary reliever who’ll be making his MLB debut) are RHPs — so it’s safe to stack the 1-5 hitters as there are no weak links in the bunch. Don’t overthink this one – the Braves have punished RHPs, are a better offense at home this season, and have plenty of value bats if you’re building a non-traditional stack.

LosAngeles Dodgers vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

The Dodgers have six hitters in their projected lineup with ISOmarks north of .200 against RHP, including some of the best xwOBA marks on the slate(Will Smith at .487 and Cody Bellinger at .446). Feel free to attack Chi Chi’sterrible splits against lefties regardless of the barely beneficial shift awayfrom Coors. Joc Pederson (who you will have to double check on because he leftMonday’s game after a leaping catch at the wall), Corey Seager, Bellinger, A.J.Pollock and Matt Beaty should be the core of this group.

ClevelandIndians vs. Dylan Cease

It’s been a few days, but the Indians bats came alive last night and knocked around Ross Detwiler, and the matchup against Dylan Cease shouldn’t offer too much resistance. Cease is vulnerable to both RHBs and lefties, so it doesn’t really matter which side of the plate your stacked players hit from – just make sure you’re building around a core of Francisco Lindor, Oscar Mercado and Carlos Santana. You have myriad options for additional power bats in the heart of the lineup and a bit further down (Yasiel Puig, Franmil Reyes, Jakob Bauers), so it might be worth it to build some variety if you’re multi-entering in GPPs.

9/3 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Minnesota Twins at Rick Porcello

Boston Red Sox vs. Randy Dobnak

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Matthew Strahm

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Dereck Rodriguez

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Sandy Alcantara

9/3 DFS Hitting Catcher

JasonCastro, MIN at BOS

DK ($3,700)   FD($2,400)

We’re looking for some value at catcher given some of the prices of these bigger bats in the stacks we need to fit, and Castro is exactly the type of hitter we’re looking for – a sneaky option with ample power and plenty of bats surrounding him. If the Twins roll out Castro against Porcello, I’d be comfortable with the BvP data (5-for-13 with a HR) and overall against RHP (.476 xwOBA).

9/3 DFS Hitting First Baseman

JoshBell, PIT vs. MIA

DK ($5,100)   FD($4,400)

You’re going to get Josh Bell at a very low ownership, and while the $5,100 price seems oppressive, the Pirates still sport a decent implied total and Bell (.426 xwOBA vs. RHP) might fly under the radar in this slate. The Pirates aren’t the safest stack, but Bell stands out as an excellent one-off, especially if you’re steering clear of Freddie Freeman and looking for a more contrarian play.

9/3 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

KoltenWong, STL vs. SF

DK($4,300)   FD ($3,100)

Wong is red-hot at the plate, with a seven-game hitting streak and a triple in three straight games (the record is five, by Chief Wilson in 1912). A streaky hitter who’s having an excellent second half (.381/.462/.545 in 42 games since the break), Wong’s got an affordable price tag and could be banging out some more extra base hits from that 2-slot against the Giants.

9/3 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

RafaelDevers, BOS vs. MIN

DK ($5,400)   FD($4,100)

Devers and the Red Sox are a formidable stack against just about anyopposing pitcher, but this is an especially tasty matchup with rookie Randy Dobnakon the mound for the Twins. Since Anthony Rendon and Alex Bregman aren’t in idealspots Tuesday, I’m rolling with Devers and his obscene metrics vs. RHP (.429xwOBA, .247 ISO). He’s never far from a run-producing spot and he’s got all theprotection he needs surrounded by the Boston sluggers.

9/3 DFS Hitting Shortstop

AdalbertoMondesi, KC vs. DET

DK ($5,200)   FD($3,100)

Mondesiobviously missed being a part of the Royals lineup, because he went 4-for-5with two runs scored and three SB in the Royals’ 6-4 comeback win against theOrioles on Sunday. He’s facing a LHP in Daniel Norris on Tuesday and he’sclearly recovered from his shoulder injury – and while the price on DK issteep, he’s very affordable on FD.

9/3 DFS Hitting Outfielders

MattJoyce, ATL vs. TOR

DK ($3,900)   FD($2,400)

Joyceis a classic value GPP play because of his power potential and assault on RHP(.392 xwOBA). It’s also helpful that both the projected starter and primaryreliever are right handers – which could give him an extra AB or two before he mustface a lefty out of the bullpen or get pulled for a pinch hitter or defensivereplacement. In a search for some bargains to offset the rest of the Bravesstack, Joyce could be a key cog.

MaxKepler, MIN at BOS

DK ($5,300)   FD($3,500)

MaxKepler is batting leadoff for one of the top stacks of the day, so he’s definitelya fly ball hitter to build around despite his steep price tag on DraftKings. He’scoming off a 2-for-5 day in a win over Detroit and is slashing .258/.339/.537with 36 home runs and 90 RBI over 127 games in 2019. He’s an excellent roadhitter (.266/.357/.548) and he’s a real bargain on FanDuel at just $3,500.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC vs. SEA

DK ($4,300)   FD($3,100)

It’s always a weather-dependent recommendation to use or fade batsin Wrigley, so make sure there’s not a stiff breeze blowing in before youcommit to Schwarber here. The enigmatic Schwarber does his best work at homevs. RHP (125 wRC+ in 2019, .250/.355/.545 slash), and while he’s not the besthitter in high leverage spots (65 wRC+), that’s a figure that’s bound toimprove. King Felix is not the pitcher he once was, and it’s a fine spot forlefty mashers against him.

Additional 9/3 DFS hitting options (by position):

C: Carson Kelly, Chris Herrmann (value)

1B: Anthony Rizzo, Matt Olson

2B: Brock Holt (value), Eduardo Escobar

3B: Matt Carpenter, Abraham Toro

SS: Corey Seager, Nick Ahmed

OF: Matt Beaty, Dexter Fowler, Nick Castellanos, Adam Jones. Franmil Reyes, Oscar Mercado

For the record, I go into Texas high school football mode tonight, but since Friday Night Lights doesn’t make me (or you) copious amounts of the long green, then the 8/30 DFS Hitting Picks is a nice consolation.

All but one game is played in the lights and there’s plenty of nifty stack plays awaiting.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Catcher

Jorge Alfaro, MIA at WAS

DK ($3,700), FD ($2,700)

Sometime in the past week, Alfaro tapped into his inner Joe Mauer, circa 2009. As a result, he’s ripped off five straight multi-hit games and has averaged better than 27 FanDuel points in that span. Alfaro homered in three straight games this week, helping to elevate his HR/BB% to 28% along with a fast-rising 43.8% line drive rate.

With an OPS over 1.100 over the past two weeks, I think Alfaro continues his hitting tear on the road against Nats hurler Anibal Sanchez, who has pitched well of late but has struggled when his line drive rate (24%) looks a lot less like his 2018 total (18%).

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – First Baseman

Mark Canha, OAK at NYY

DK ($5,300), FD ($3,400)

This won’t be the last time this game is mentioned. Canha has been a bargain banger, recording hits in 10 of his last 11 with four homers and 12 RBI. He’s been a blessing for FanDuel users, having recorded four games of at least 24.70 points during the same span. Canha walks at a 13.3% rate, somewhat understandable considering the amount of lumber in the A’s offense. His .271 Isolated Power is almost even with his .277 batting average.

A weekend at Yankee Stadium awaits Canha, who has a 23.2% HR/FB% and 42.7% fly ball rate and faces CC Sabathia. The Yankees starter has allowed right-handed hitters to tag him for 19 homers and a .287/.343/.543 (.892 OPS). Indeed, a solid 8/28 DFS Hitting and Stacks play.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Second Baseman

Jose Altuve, HOU at TOR

DK ($5,100), FD ($4,200)

In 161 fewer at-bats from last season, Altuve has already equaled his career-best with 24 homers. That number could be eclipsed tonight as Altuve and the Astros head up north for a weekend set against the Blue Jays. His Isolated Power (.251) is .116 better than last year as he’s exchanged a career-high 39.4% hard contact rate and a slight bump in fly ball rate (30.7%) while watching his line drive rate dip to 18.3%.

What’s insane is that Altuve went .321/.384/.634 (1.018 OPS) with eight homers, 19 RBI and 32 runs scored this month and may not have been the best player in his lineup. Ponder that one for a second.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE at TB

DK ($4,800), FD ($4,500)

Lindor launched his fourth homer in his last six games during Thursday’s win over the Tigers and remains worth the price to add to any 8/30 DFS Hitting Picks lineup. He’s put up at least 15.50 FanDuel points in five of his last six games and has produced an OPS over 1.200 in the past week.

If you look at his hard contact rate, you’ll see it’s increased with each passing season, going from 25.5% in his rookie season in 2015 to his current 43.7%. While his Isolated Power has dipped to “just” .231, Lindor’s second half run has been fueled by an increased BABIP that has gone from .279 in 2018 to .313 this season.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Third Baseman

Nolan Arenado, COL vs. PIT

DK ($5,700), FD ($4,700)

Including Thursday night’s effort against the Pirates, six of Arenado’s last 13 hits have been of the extra base persuasion, making him platinum-locked as a 8/30 DFS Hitting Picks member. When is it a bad thing to see a hitter of Arenado’s caliber delivering a 44.1% fly ball rate in Coors Field, where he also has an OPS over 1.000? I’ll wait.

Even with a slight dip in hard contact rate (41.6% compared to last season’s 42.9%) and HR/FB% (17.8%, 20.7% in 2018), Arenado at home against a pitcher (Dario Agrazal) who has a 1.84 HR/9 rate and 43.2% fly ball rate is money.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Outfielder

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. OAK

DK ($5,300), FD ($4,500)

A week ago, Judge had just two homers in the month of August to go along with an OPS that barely hovered over .700. Five homers and 1.485 OPS later, Judge comes into tonight’s game with a .921 OPS this month with 15 of his 28 hits going for extra bases. The recent tear has pushed Judge’s Isolated Power to .236, putting him on par with last year’s .249. He’s dirty after dark, as Judge sports a .934 OPS in night games.

Judge is putting together a solid 29.6% line drive rate, yet isn’t getting enough lift (29% fly ball rate) to justify a vicious 55.4% hard contact rate. Take him into the lineup as Judge’s 1.179 OPS against lefties won’t be good news for A’s starter Brett Anderson, who has a lifetime 6.86 ERA against the Yankees in eight career starts.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Outfielder

Sam Hillard, COL vs. PIT

DK ($4,000), FD ($2,900)

(Yet) another rookie who has debuted swinging like a first-ballot Hall of Famer, Hillard has wallopped a pair of homers among his first three big league hits. In only eight at-bats, Hillard has given DFSers a sample of his work in Triple-A, where he hammered 35 homers.  He also stole 22 bases en route to producing a freakish 1.569 OPS.

Hilliard had a 41% fly ball rate and a 41.5% pull rate in the minors this season, traits that should allow him to thrive in Coors Field against hapless Pirates pitchers this weekend, including the aforementioned Agrazal. If he’s in the lineup, Hillard is a bargain.

8/30 DFS Hitting Picks – Outfielder

Aristides Aquino, CIN at STL

DK ($4,900), FD ($4,100)

Aquino has shook off a brief slump and has returned to mauling hurlers at a historic pace. He comes to the Gateway to the West with three homers and an 1.173 OPS in the past week, continuing a month that has seen Aquino go .330/.393/.804 (1.197 OPS). As far as first months go, Aquino has made a hell of an impression.

Aquino came into the majors with a .337 Isolated Power in Triple-A, only to destroy that mark, raising it to .474. His hard contact rate has come down to 38.9%. However, his fly ball rate is a strong 47.2% and you certainly live with his 23.4% strikeout rate. Something will give between him and Cards hurler Dakota Hudson. Bet on the Red.

8/30 DFS Hitting Stacks

8/30 Hitting Stack of the Day: New York Yankees: Build with Judge as the foundation and add Gleyber Torres ($4,900 DK) and Gary Sanchez ($4,700 DK). Attempting to go all-in toward a hard out Yankees stack will cost you when it comes to pitching, so look after Luke Voit ($5,100 DK) or D.J. LeMahieu ($5,300 DK)

8/30 Hitting Stack Runner-Up: Oakland A’s: Wheel out the right-handed bats, starting with Canha, who is enough of a bargain to allow you to add Matt Chapman ($4,700 DK). Josh Phegley ($3,800 DK) has a homer and 1.182 OPS in 11 at-bats against Sabathia. Even in a lefty-lefty scenario, Matt Olson ($4,600 DK) is a good play.

8/30 Hitting Stack to Consider: Pittsburgh Pirates: Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela has a 6.80 ERA at Coors Field and allows hitters to batter him to the tune of a .310 batting average. Bryan Reynolds ($5,600 DK) is a good start, but Kevin Newman ($5,200 DK), Collin Moran ($4,600 DK), Melky Cabrera ($3,900 DK) and Josh Bell ($5,700) are strong options.

It’s been a B-Dub Weekend, so let’s close out the weekend with the 8/25 DFS Hitting and Stacks and add little more of the long green that several of our WDS crew have added to their bank accounts.

Eleven games dot the bulk of the schedule, but the later starts do offer a gem or two.

8/25 DFS Hitting Catcher

Omar Navarez, SEA vs. TOR

DK ($4,600), FD ($2,500)

Navarez gets the decisive edge as the lefty bat going against Clay Buchholz, who comes off the DL. Navarez has homered in both games this weekend and has thrived at home, going .295/.365/.494 with 11 of his 19 homers coming at Petco Park. I’ll trust in his 40.2% fly ball rate versus a hurler who allowed five homers in 24 innings before going on the DL in early May.

8/25 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Jose Abreu, CWS vs. TEX

DK ($4,600), FD ($4,000)

A six-game hitting streak that has seen Abreu score at least once in five of those games is one reason I’m looking at the Pale Hose slugger today. Abreu is more productive in the daytime, sporting a .855 OPS with 10 homers. Oddly enough, he’s stolen both of his bases in the natural light. Rangers rookie hurler Brock Burke makes his second big league, but both you and the lefty should know Abreu has gone .353/.393/.603 (.996 OPS) with eight homers and 25 ribbies against southpaws.

8/25 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. LAA

DK ($5,100), FD ($4,000)

Altuve has scored at least one run in seven of his last eight games and has consecutive multi-hit games. Angels starter Jaime Barria has given up four hits in nine at-bats against Altuve with a .990 OPS against. Altuve is also riding the wave of a career-high .245 Isolated Power, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes Barria deep today. If so, he will equal his career-best with 24 homers. He’d be a good anchor in a 8/25 DFS Hitting and Stacks lineup leaning heavily with Astros.

8/25 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. KC

DK ($5,200), FD ($4,300)

The Royals brought up Eric Skoglund for today’s start, which probably made Lindor sleep like a kid on Christmas Eve. Lindor has just four career at-bats against Skoglund, but he’s hit a pair of homers and stolen a pair of bases off the KC southpaw. Lindor hasn’t been lights out of late, but does have at least one hit in nine of his last 10 and owns Royals pitching to the tune of .400/.425/.686 with four homers, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored. The Indians have been brimming with stack potential all weekend, and today looks great for them to anchor the 8/25 Hitting and Stacks with Lindor leading the way.

8/25 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Alex Bregman, HOU vs. LAA

DK ($5,200), FD ($4,200)

With six hits in his last 11 at-bats, Bregman is a solid choice here and a potential anchor of an Astros stack. Bregman has three homers and nine RBI over the past week and his .405/.500/.824 August that includes six homers, 26 RBI and 20 runs scored has put him strongly in the AL MVP conversation. His 44.9% fly ball rate blends well with his 44.2% hard contact rate, while his 18.5% HR/FB rate continues to take a sneaky climb.

8/25 DFS Hitting Outfielder

Willie Calhoun, TEX vs. CWS

DK ($4,900), FD ($3,800)

Oh, why not? Saturday’s homer was his second straight game with a dinger and his fourth this week. Calhoun has eight homers this month while continuing his road-dominant trend (.946 OPS). He’ll face Reynaldo Lopez, who appears to have reacquired the home run bug after going three straight starts without giving one up. Lopez allowed a pair in his start against the Twins on Tuesday, shooting his HR/9 up to 1.65. That, plus his 44.9% fly ball rate, makes Lopez a potential mark for Calhoun to exploit today.

8/25 DFS Hitting Outfielder

Juan Soto, WAS at CHC

DK ($5,100), FD ($4,000)

Soto has picked apart Cubs pitching the way Clubber Lang picked apart Rocky Balboa in their first match in Rocky III (“Come on, Balboa! Make me wait!!). He’s gone .421/.522/.737 with a 1.259 OPS that’s produced a homer, five RBI and eight runs scored in just 19 at-bats this season. Soto has a 1.083 OPS this month with nine homers, so there’s no reason to fear using him against Cole Hamels. No one has done much to stop the Nationals’ offense of late, and I don’t see where Hamels neutralizes them today.

8/25 DFS Hitting Outfielder

Aaron Judge, NYY at LAD

DK ($7,200), FD ($3,800)

Consider this my move off the top rope: either this finishes the match or the momentum swings. Judge has never faced Clayton Kershaw, but Clayton Kershaw has never faced Judge, who has homered in each of the first two games of the series. Judge has three homers this week after entering it with just one dinger this month. For all of his Hall of Fame potential, Kershaw should know that Judge has an 1.121 OPS versus lefties this season and can be a beast with the lights on (.929 OPS at night). This matchup alone makes Sunday Night Baseball must-watch.

8/25 DFS Hitting Stacks

8/25 Hitting Stack of the Day: Cleveland Indians: As mentioned earlier, I’d start a stack with Lindor and plug in Franmil Reyes (a cheap $2,500 at FanDuel) along with Carlos Santana ($5,400 at DraftKings) and perhaps Yasiel Puig ($4,400 DK).

8/25 Hitting Stack Runner-Up: Houston Astros: As usual, they’re pricey, so you can’t load up in a big way. Altuve or Bregman are good anchors along with Yordan Alvarez ($5,500 DK). You should be able to find a low-end bat like Josh Reddick ($2,400 FD) or Martin Maldonado ($3,000 DK).

8/25 Hitting Stack to Consider: St. Louis Cardinals: The Rockies are throwing Antonio Senzatela and his 6.29 ERA. I like Paul Goldschmidt ($4,200 DK) at the anchor that includes Tommy Edman ($4,200 DK), Dexter Fowler ($3,200 FD) and Marcell Ozuna ($5,000 DK).

Catcher

Gary Sanchez, NYY at MIN

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,900)

Sanchez is actually in a bit of a slump right now but it’s lowered his price to this tasty number. He is arguably the best hitting catcher in the game, which is evident by his .567 xSLG and .376 xwOBA. Those advanced statistics confirm to us that he’s the best hitting catcher in MLB and it’s really no surprise that he has 24 homers in just 283 at-bats this season. That’s one of the best rates around and all of this doesn’t even take into consideration that Sanchez gets to face a lefty. Since 2017, Sanchez has a .525 SLG and .872 OPS against southpaws. Martin Perez is a lefty who’s really struggling right now too, pitching to a 5.65 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over his last eight starts.

First Base

Daniel Vogelbach, SEA vs. TEX

DK ($4,400)   FD ($3,800)

Vogelbach has been making minced meat of right-handers all season long and it’s fun watching this lumberjack become one of the best DFS hitters. So far this season, Vogelbach is generating a .405 OBP, .588 SLG and .993 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. That’s why he has 21 homers and 48 RBI against right-handers, which are some of the best splits in the game. Adrian Sampson is definitely a righty we can exploit too, with the Texas righty pitching to a 4.92 ERA and 1.43 WHIP for the season while posting a 12.96 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over his last four starts.

Second Base

Brian Dozier, WSH vs. COL

DK ($3,700)   FD ($2,700)

Picking second baseman is like strolling through your Netflix queue when you know there’s nothing good in there. This position is simply terrible and that’s why I always try to find values. Dozier is just that, as I want to get in some Washington bats against Peter Lambert. The Rockies righty is pitching to a 6.06 ERA and 1.40 WHIP this season, which is right around his 5.06 ERA and 1.44 WHIP at the Triple-A level. That’s why the Nationals are projected for more than five runs, as Dozier should be a major part of that. The former 40-20 threat is in the midst of a resurgent stretch too, posting a .390 OBP and .938 OPS over his last 36 games. Those are huge numbers from someone in this price range and we need to take advantage of a DFS hitter like this when his value is so low.

Third Base

Nolan Arenado, COL at WSH

DK ($4,400)   FD ($4,100)

It’s always strange to have to scroll down to find Arenado among the third basemen and that alone makes him an attractive DFS hitter. While he is typically better at home, we have to love this matchup. The Nationals are throwing out Austin Voth and his 5.10 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, which is on par with his 5.06 career xFIP. That’s a scary thought against a hitter who has a minimum of a .362 OBP and .924 OPS dating back to 2016.

Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE at TOR

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,800)

The Indians are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and Lindor is a major reason why. Over his last 12 games, Lindor has four doubles, three homers and two steals, as that streak extends much longer than that. Since May 4, Lindor is hitting .301 while generating an .867 OPS in that span. What really makes him intriguing here is that he gets to bat from the right side, with Lindor posting a .380 OBP and .907 OPS against left-handers since 2017. Ryan Borucki is definitely not a guy we need to worry about either, with the southpaw pitching to a 7.55 FIP at the minors this season while providing a 4.62 xFIP in his Major League career.

Outfield

Jordan Luplow, CLE at TOR

DK ($4,200)   FD ($2,900)

If you’ve been reading my articles, you know that I love Luplow against lefties. The simple fact is, Luplow is one of the best hitters in the league when he faces a southpaw. That’s evident by his .417 OBP, .696 SLG and 1.112 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Those are some bonkers statistics and it’s really no surprise that he bats cleanup in these circumstances. We already discussed that we want to stack against Borucki, as he’ll be making his season debut here. This is where people forget that we’re picking DFS hitters and it’s more about matchups than anything else.

J.D. Martinez, BOS at TB

DK ($4,100)   FD ($3,900)

Needless to say, if you’re playing on DraftKings, get J.D. into your lineup as a DFS hitter. This price made my jaw drop and it’s a wonder what DraftKings is thinking with this tag. This is simply one of the best hitters in the game facing a weak pitcher with the platoon advantage in his favor. The advanced statistics are simply incredible, with Martinez generating a .578 xSLG and .406 xWOBA this season. Those are some of the best numbers in the league and it doesn’t even take into consideration that J.D. has a 1.136 OPS against southpaws since the beginning of 2017.

Corey Dickerson, PIT vs. STL

DK ($4,000)   FD ($2,900)

Can we start giving this dude the credit he deserves as a DFS hitter? Dickerson has done nothing but rake since his days with the Rockies and these sites continue to treat him like a bench player. We’re talking about a guy who has a career .285 AVG and .826 OPS. He’s actually done most of that damage against righties, providing a .239 ISO, .361 wOBA and .860 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Those numbers are actually all better this year and it’s strange that he’s priced so low on these sites.

Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the Day

After a handful of DFS hitter picks, let’s go over a MKF play that intrigues me.

Play MLB Player Prop Games and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Lindor/Luplow/Ramirez Over 6.5 Total Bases

You probably could have seen this coming with the write-ups but Ramirez is one of the hottest hitters in the game too. This offense is projected for more than five runs and these are the guys that should do it.

This report will provide recommended DFS stacks for today’s 14-game main slate. I will also include my favorite pitching picks.

**All plays are listed in order of preference. Please check back between 5-6 PM EST as some players can receive rest days or get limited at bats especially as we get closer to the postseason. Make sure you are watching the weather as well.

New York Yankees Stack

vs. LHP Kyle Freeland (COL): 6.90 Runs

I glared at the computer for awhile this morning trying to figure out how to get away from this Yankees chalk tonight and I can’t do it. Kyle Freeland is just downright terrible. He carries a 7.39 ERA, 6.13 FIP, and 5.18 SIERA on the season. He has allowed 43 earned runs across 53 innings to right-handed batters. Freeland is allowing a massive 2.27 HR/9 innings and 43% hard contact. Freeland is not at Coors, but he is in very hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. The Yankees have been slumping off just a bit coming off the break, but this team is jam packed with talent and it would be foolish to fade them. The Yankees are slashing to a .365 wOBA, .225 ISO, and 128 WRC+ over the last month. I’m typically an advocate against using the Yankees on most nights, but I feel confident using these right handed power bats this evening.

Preferred Plays: Aaron Judge ($4500 FD|$5300 DK), DJ Lemahieu ($3800 FD|$4700 DK), Gary Sanchez ($3900 FD|$4600 DK), and Luke Voit ($3800 FD|$4600 DK). Also consider: Gleyber Torres ($3400 FD|$4500 DK) and Edwin Encarnacion ($4100 FD|$5000 DK).

Cleveland Indians Stack

vs. LHP Mike Montgomery (KCR): 6.15 Runs

Mike Montgomery was a top prospect not long ago but has not had a good 2019 campaign. I doubt he’s stretched out all the way so he should be limited today. We have a small sample size to go off of here, but Montgomery carries a 5.67 ERA, 6.21 FIP, and 5.25 SIERA over 27 innings pitched this season. His splits indicate he struggles more with lefties. They are slashing to a .556 wOBA, .868 SLG, and .512 OBP. Montgomery is not much better against righties (thus far). They are slashing to a .336 wOBA, .464 SLG, and .338 OBP. Obviously these numbers are inflated due to limited action this season but most tend to go for the handedness matchup, so don’t be afraid to differentiate with some Cleveland lefties. Cleveland bats are red hot right now. They are slashing to a .369 wOBA, .255 ISO, and 128 WRC+ over the last couple of weeks.

Preferred Plays: Roberto Perez ($2800 FD|$4100 DK), Carlos Santana ($4300 FD|$4900 DK), Jordan Luplow ($2600 FD|$4100 DK), Francisco Lindor ($4100 FD|$5100 DK). Also consider: Oscar Mercado ($3300 FD|$4900 DK) and Tyler Naquin ($3000 FD|$4200 DK).

Toronto Blue Jays Stack

vs. RHP Jordan Zimmermann (DET): 5.90 Runs

Jordan Zimmermann heads into tonight’s matchup carrying a 7.01 ERA, 4.64 FIP, and 5.35 SIERA. That ERA is a little elevated compared to his FIP and SIERA. That is because of his .344 BABIP and a lowly 58% LOB. Some of it can be attributed to bad luck but he also has a poor defense behind him, so that will drive his ERA up whereas FIP measures things only the pitcher can control. Bats are slashing to a .350 wOBA, .508 SLG, and .348 OBP on the season against him. Zimmermann has allowed 41 earned runs across 52.2 innings pitched. He has only allowed seven home runs in that span. Blue Jays batters are slashing to a .351 wOBA, .234 ISO, and 120 WRC+ over the last month. They have seen a dip in their batting averages recently, but this is a good spot for Toronto to do some damage.

Preferred Plays: Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($4000 FD|$4900 DK), Eric Sogard ($3300 FD|$4300 DK), Freddy Galvis ($3200 FD|$3800 DK),Randal Grichuk ($3400 FD|$3700 DK), and Vlad Guerrero Jr. ($2900 FD|$3700 DK) Also consider: Justin Smoak ($3100 FD|$3700 DK) and Billy McKinney ($2400 FD|$3400 DK).

Honorable Mention

Boston Red Sox Stack

vs. LHP John Means (BAL): 6.00 Runs

Preferred Stack: Christian Vazquez ($2800 FD|$4700 DK), Xander Bogaerts ($4500 FD|$5700 DK), Rafael Devers ($4400 FD|$5400 DK), and J.D. Martinez ($4000 FD|$4700 DK).

Pitching

  1. RHP Jacob deGrom (NYM): 3.13 Runs
  2. LHP Hyun-jin Ryu (LAD): 2.45 Runs
  3. RHP Marcus Stroman (TOR): 4.20 Runs
  4. LHP Brendan McCay (TAM): 3.29 Runs
