Welcome back to another exciting season of CFB! After a solid week five slate, we are back with another action packed Saturday.

The purpose of this article is to break down the college football main slates, both on the DFS and betting sites. The article includes my favorite plays at every position as well as honorable mentions. You can also find my favorite bets under my Dragos Best Bets section.

The QBs:

Garrett Greene (WVU):

Once again, we get to attack Oklahoma State’s terrible pass defense on a slate. All year, the Cowboys’s pass defense has struggled to stop opposing quarterbacks. They are giving up the third most yards of the slate (256.5) and are going up against a good quarterback this week. Greene is averaging 225.5 yards through the air this season and 1.8 passing touchdowns. Greene has thrown for over 200 yards each of his last three games and is in a great spot to make it 4 out of his last 4. But Greene isn’t only a threat with his arm; he can hurt defenses with his legs as well. In the first four games of the season, Greene is averaging 52.5 yards on the ground and has scored twice. Over the last two weeks, Oklahoma State has given up 101 yards on the ground to quarterbacks, and every starting quarterback has had a rush of 10 plus against them.

Who to pair him with: Hudson Clement. Traylon Ray. Kole Taylor.

Hank Bachmeier (WAKE):

Bachmeier is my favorite value quarterback on the slate. He is having his best season since 2021, when he was still the Boise State starting quarterback. Bachmeier is averaging 289.8 passing yards a game, which is a career high for a season. Surprisingly, Bachmeier has been efficient while throwing this season; his only interception came last week on a tip pass. This week he gets a NC State side that I have loved to target all season. NCST ranks 92nd against the pass, allowing 229.2 yards per game. They have also allowed the third-most passing touchdowns on the slate. With his price and the matchup, I will have a lot of Bachmeier.

Who to pair him with: Taylor Morin. Donavon Greene. Horatio Fields. Deuce Alexander

Value QBs: Hank Bachmeier

The RBs:

Tawee Walker (WISC):

After starter Chez Mellusi left Wisconsin to deal with his injuries, Walker has become the starter for Wisconsin. Walker is second in carries (38) and tied with Mellusi for the team lead with three rushing touchdowns. For his start, he takes on Purdue, who have the third worst rush defense in CFB. The Boilermakers are giving up 242 yards per game and nearly five yards per carry. Wisconsin likes to rest their running backs, so we will see Cade Yacamelli come in at times, but at Walker’s price, he should be able to have a big game with the amount he’ll see against Purdue.

Omarion Hampton (UNC):

The second highest priced running back on DK for good reason, Hampton is definitely in play. UNC’s game against Pitt on Saturday has all the makings of a shootout. UNC suffered a loss to their rivals Duke last week in a close 1pt game. Hampton was held to 103 yards on 29 carries and failed to reach the end zone. I’m expecting UNC to feed Hampton early and often as a way to keep Pitts Eli Holstein and their explosive offense off the field.

The QBs:

Kurtis Rourke (IU):

Rourke has been quietly having a good season. He is averaging over 250 yards and two touchdown passes per game. Over the past three weeks, he has completed 80% (56/70) of his passes and has yet to throw an interception. On Saturday he is getting a good matchup against Maryland. The Terrapins are allowing the second most yards (247) and yards per completion (13.17) on the slate. They rank 103rd overall in CFB which is in the bottom 23% of CFB. If Rourke can continue to be accurate then he should be in line for a big game against Maryland. Elijah Sarratt is his favorite wide receiver so he tops my list of players to pair with him, but Cross and Price are two value receivers who are available if salary is needed.

Who to pair him with: Elijah Sarratt. Omar Cooper Jr. Miles Cross. Myles Price.

Alan Bowman (OKST):

Bowman is once again in a great spot on Saturday. Bowman has struggled with accuracy over the past three weeks completing only 58% of his throws and throwing four interceptions. But he has still been able to produce to help Oklahoma State as he has 928 yards and eight touchdown passes in that same span. Besides UT Martin, his opponents on Saturday Kansas State has not been able to contain QBs this season. Two of the three FBS QBs that they have played have thrown for over 250 yards and have thrown for two touchdowns. Bowman has too much firepower around him to not be able to pick apart the KSU pass defense. 

Who to pair him with: Brennan Presley. De’Zhaun Stribling. Rashod Owens.

Honorable Mentions: Jaxson Dart. Shedeur Sanders. Texas Starting QB. KJ Jefferson. Avery Johnson. Miller Moss. Riley Leonard. Tyler Shough. Jalon Daniels. Taylor Green. Dylan Riola.

Value QBs: Sawyer Robertson. 

The RBs:

Jayden Blue (UT):

After missing the game against UTSA, Blue came out with something to prove as he ran for 124 and three touchdowns. With the uncertainty of who will be the starting QB for Texas on Saturday, I expect Blue to once again be a vocal point of the offense. Mississippi State is not great at stopping the run this year. They rank in the bottom 10 in rush defense and are allowing almost five yards per carry. On DK he is a great pivot off of the big three running backs who are all over 1K higher in price.

DJ Giddens (KSU):

Speaking of the big three running backs on DK, one of them is Giddens who is one of the best running backs in CFB. The KSU/OKST game has the third-highest total on the slate. I wrote up Bowman above for QBs because that’s how Oklahoma State should score and now Giddens should be how KSU scores on Saturday. The OKST rush defense has been bad this year allowing just over 180 yards on the ground per game. I expect KSU to relieve the pressure on their QB to compete with Bowman by leaning on the superstar running back.

The QBs:

Miller Moss (USC):

It’s finally Miller time during a main slate. Moss has done a great job replacing the former Heisman and number-one overall pick, Caleb Williams. Moss ranks third in passing yards per game on the slate (303.5) and 12th overall in CFB. If we had this matchup last season, I would not want any part of the USC offense against what was a stellar Wolverine defense, but this year, Michigan has struggled against the pass, giving up 234.3 yards per game. In all three of their games to start the season, the Michigan defense has given up at least 222 passing yards. Now they have Miller Moss coming to town, and the last time he took the field, he threw for 229 in 2.5 quarters against Utah State. I love this matchup because the statistics point to a good game for Moss, and USC will want to make an impression in their first Big 10 game. What better way than to beat the reigning National Champions?

Who to pair him with: Kyle Ford. Zachariah Branch. Kyron Hudson. Lake McRee.

Taylen Green (ARK):

There are two reasons I like Green this week. First, he gets a favorable matchup against Auburn, who allowed Devon Dampier from New Mexico to throw for almost 300 yards against them. The second is his rushing ability; he has 245 yards and four touchdowns with his legs. Auburn is good against the run, but they have allowed their last two opposing quarterbacks to have rushes above 10 yards. With neither being the athlete that Green is, if they give him space to run, he will torch Auburn throughout the game.

Who to pair him with:  Andrew Armstrong. Tyrone Broden.

Honorable Mentions: Riley Leonard. Cade Klubnik. Blake Shapen. Garrett Nussmeier. Behren Morton. Tyler Shough. Sam Leavitt. Brendan Sorsby.

Value QBs: CJ Bailey

The RBs:

Kyle Monangai (RU):

Monangai has had a fantastic start to his season. He is second in CFB in rushing yards per game, only behind Ashton Jeanty, who might be in a league of his own this season. Rutgers had a bye last week, so the last time we saw Monangai, he was rushing for 208 yards and three touchdowns against Akron. This week, Monangai goes up against Virginia Tech. VT is one of the worst rush defenses in CFB, allowing 190.3 rushing yards (113th in CFB) and giving up 5.05 yards per carry. 5.05 yards allowed per attempt is the third most on the slate, and if there is a running back on this slate that should be able to exploit that, it’s Monangai, who ranks 4th in CFB with 8.11 yards per attempt.

Jeremiyah Love (ND):

I love me some Love this week. On DK, he is at only $5500, which is surprising given his start to the season. He has 279 yards and a touchdown in all three games. His worst DFS game this season was opening day, and he still had 91 yards and a touchdown. The price drop on DK is surprising, especially considering this opponent this week. ND plays Miami (OH), the 108th-ranked rush defense in CFB. They are giving up 182.5 rushing yards and the second most yards per carry on the slate (5.62).

Value RBs (5K and under): Caden Durham. Quinten Joyner.

The WRs:

Brennan Presley (OKST):

Presley has yet to be the flashiest wide receiver in CFB, but he has had a solid start to the year. He has two games with seven receptions, with a nine-reception game sandwich in between. On top of averaging 7.7 receptions per game, he scored a receiving touchdown in each of the three games. He gets a tough matchup against Utah and the third-best passing defense in CFB. The game has a surprising total at 52.5, which means that while Utah should slow down OKST, Presley will still have opportunities to shine.

Jeremiah Smith (OSU):

Despite being involved in two blowouts in his first two games, Smith has still produced a lot in the passing game. To start the season, he has 11 receptions, 211 yards, and three touchdowns. He leads Ohio State in almost all receiving stats, including yards per reception at 19.2, which is 17th in all of CFB for players with at least ten receptions. Ohio State will have no issues with Marshall, so I am firing up Smith in all my contests.

Value Plays (4.9K and under): Jake Briningstool. Malik Rutherford. Ja’Corey Brooks.

• Cincinnati -3.5 vs Houston
• USC -4.5 vs Michigan
• Upset Pick: Arkansas ML vs Auburn

Kirk Francis (TLSA):

Let’s start the main slate article with my favorite value QB of the day. Francis has had a solid start to the year throwing for 199 and 299 in his first two games with five touchdowns. This Saturday he gets the pleasure of playing against the worst pass defense in CFB. Oklahoma State has been getting torched through the air giving 340 passing yards per game. The Cowboys are struggling to contain their opponent’s passing game, and have given up big plays all season. They are allowing 14.78 yards per reception which is the second-highest amount on the slate only behind WVU. Francis should be able to take advantage of the poor secondary by targeting his top WR, Kamdyn Benjamin. Benjamin is the most likely WR to cause damage to the Cowboys as he is averaging 17.8 yards per reception.

Who to pair him with: Kamdyn Benjamin. Braylin Presley

Will Rogers (UW):

It feels good to have Will Rogers on a main slate finally. The Mississippi State transfer has been great in his first two starts at Washington. This rivalry game against Washington State will be his toughest test since joining the Huskies. But he should be able to continue his great start as the WSU pass defense has left a lot to be desired to start the season. WSU’s pass defense is giving up 288.5 passing yards per game which ranks 122nd in CFB and the second most on the slate only behind the previously mentioned Oklahoma State Cowboys. Rogers has been able to spread the ball around to multiple players so it is easy to find someone to pair him up with.

Who to pair him with:  Giles Jackson. Denzel Boston. Jeremiah Hunter.

Honorable Mentions: Eli Holstein. Garrett Greene. Dillon Gabriel. Thomas Castellano. Jalen Milroe. Garrett Nussmeier. Brady Cook

The RBs:

Quick Note: Ollie Gordon (OKST) is the best RB in CFB, and because of that, I will not include him in the write-ups. He is in play on any slate he is available in.

Jam Miller/Justice Haynes (BAMA):

Alabama takes on a Wisconsin side this Saturday that has been ok against the run. Neither of their first two opponents had RBs at the level they will see with Alabama. Both of Alabama’s RBs are in play on Saturday. They both have over 15 attempts, 140 rushing yards, and two touchdowns in the first two games of the season. Through the first two games, Miller has six more rushing attempts and has looked to be the more efficient runner of the two averaging about a yard more per attempt. With his price on DK, I would lean Miller over Haynes.

Jam Griffin/Anthony Hankerson (ORST):

Like with Alabama above, we have a player named Jam and his teammate sharing an entry. Like above this is a spot where we have two RBs from the same that are in play. Oregon St has leaned heavily on the run to start the season, having 109 rushing attempts to only 28 passing attempts. 78 of those 109 rushing attempts come from Griffin (38) and Hankerson (40). Griffin is the leading rusher of the two with 249 yards compared to 226 from Hankerson. My lean of the two is Griffin as Oregon is giving up over five yards a carry and Griffin is averaging 6.6.

Value RBs (5K and under): Devin Mockobee

The WRs:

Kyren Lacy (LSU):

Lacy has picked up where Nabers and Thomas left off for LSU. Lacy had a great day despite losing in LSU’s first game against USC and followed that up with five receptions, 65 yards, and three touchdown game against a bad Nicholls State game. On paper, the matchup against South Carolina looks like it should cause issues for LSU’s passing game, but I feel like this will be a letdown game for the Gamecocks who are coming off of an upset win over Kentucky.

Mario Williams (TUL):

Williams has been the best player for Tulane over the first two games. The USC transfer has 10 receptions for 252 so farthis season but has failed to find the end zone in both games. He gets a matchup against his original CFB side Oklahoma who he was with his freshman season before leaving alongside Caleb Williams to USC. The Sooners haven’t had much to worry about in their first two games but despite that, they have still given up just under 200 passing yards per game. 

Honorable Mentions: Konata Mumpfield. Tez Johnson. Luther Burden III. Deion Burks. Roc Taylor. Beaux Collins. De’Zhaun Stribling.

Value Plays (4.9K and under): Terrance Ferguson. Elijhah Badger.

The purpose of this article is to break down the college football main slates, both on the DFS and betting sites. The article includes my favorite plays at every position as well as honorable mentions. You can also find my favorite bets under my Dragos Best Bets section.

The QBs:

Taylen Green (ARK):

Let’s start the main slate article with a QB I loved watching during his time at Boise St. Green impressed in his Razorback debut, throwing for 229 yards and rushing for 88 more, as well as scoring four total touchdowns. While on paper those numbers aren’t popping out compared to others, but all that damage was done in the first half. He didn’t play the second half of Arkansas’s 70-0 win this past Saturday, as they were already up by 49 by half. This weekend he matches up against a stronger side in Oklahoma State. While it has only been one game, Oklahoma State’s pass defense ranks 107th in CFB, which isn’t much of an improvement from last season, where they were 123rd. Green’s dual threat abilities should be able to cause trouble for a Cowboy defense that gave up 388 yards to FCS South Dakota State.

Who to pair him with: Isaac TeSlaa. Luke Hasz. Andrew Armstrong (Missed week 1, but looks to be playing this weekend.)

Eli Holstein (PITT):

Not a well-known QB yet, but he impressed in his first start for Pitt in their big win against Kent State. The Panthers allowed the freshman to throw the ball 40 times, 30 of which ended in a reception. His 336 passing yards was impressive, as Kent State last year were one of the better teams against the pass, giving up only 214.5 a game. He should have a favorable matchup against Cincinnati this Saturday. The Bearcats’ defense showed a lot of flaws in their 18-point win over FCS side Towson. The Washington Tigers were able to put up 438 total yards in that game, with 244 of those coming from their QB in the passing game.

Who to pair him with: Kenny Johnson. Gavin Barholomew. Konata Mumpfield.

Honorable Mentions: Quinn Ewers (UT). Kyle McCord (SYR). Payton Throne (AUB). Cam Rising (UTAH). Riley Leonard (ND). Brendan Sorsby (CINCY). Haynes King (GT).

Value QBs: Billy Edwards Jr. (UMD)

The RBs:

Quick Note: Ollie Gordon (OKST) is the best RB in CFB, and because of that, I will not include him in the write-ups. He is in play on any slate he is available in.

Jamal Haynes (GT):

Two games, two solid performances by Haynes. He has run for 75 yards and a touchdown in each of the two games to start the season. This weekend Haynes is facing what should be the weakest rush defense so far in Syracuse. The Orange are coming off of a game where they allowed Ohio’s main RB to rush for over 200 yards. The RB had never had over 71 rushing yards in his previous three seasons.

Nicholas Singleton (PSU):

For the second straight week, DK has given us a great RB at a bad price. Singleton is one of the better RBs in CFB and should be in a great environment for a big day. Bowling Green gave up 182 rushing yards to Fordham in their opening game, and no disrespect to Fordham, but their RBs are not at the level of Singleton. Singleton averaged 8.8 yards per carry against West Virginia, while BG gave up 7 yards per carry to Fordham’s top back. At his price on DK, he will be heavily owned, but there are other spots where you can get different, so you shouldn’t worry too much about ownership for him.

Value RBs (5K and under): Kamari Moulton and Kaleb Johnson (IOWA).

The WRs:

Xzavier Henderson (CINCY):

After three years at Florida, Henderson finally had a breakout year last season at Cincinnati. He looks to be continuing his form with Cincinnati after finishing the opener with 101 yards on seven receptions and adding a touchdown. I’m expecting the Pitt/Cincy game to be back and forth so Henderson could be in for a solid day. Pittsburgh’s pass defense started off the season well, but it was against an opponent that should not have caused them any issues, so Henderson will be their first real test.

Oronde Gadsden II (SYR):

Arguably one of the best TEs in CFB had a great start to the season, finishing his season opener with seven receptions, 108 yards, and a touchdown. He seems to have a good connection with Syracuse’s new QB, Kyle McCord. Gadsden is going up against a solid defense at Georgia Tech that has given up 403 passing yards in the first two games. 68 of those 403 passing yards allowed came last week thanks to Georgia State’s TE Dorian Fleming. The sophomore caused damage to the Georgia Tech defense with four catches, 68 yards, and a touchdown. GT will have trouble containing Gadsden if they couldn’t find a way to stop Fleming last week.

Drago’s Best Bets:

• Texas -7.5 vs Michigan
• Nebraska -6.5 vs Colorado

• Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati Over 62.5
• Upset Pick: South Carolina ML vs Kentucky

The QBs:

Quinn Ewers (UT):

Despite losing 76% of the teams total receptions and 88% of the teams total touchdowns from a season ago, Ewers still has one of the best groups of pass catchers thanks to the transfer portal. Texas replaced the likes of Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell with Alabama’s Isaiah Bond and Oregon State’s Silas Bolden. Ewers will get an easier matchup to help him gain a connection with his new WR room as he will be playing against a Colorado State side that ranked near the bottom against the pass last season. The Rams also lost their best rusher to the draft earlier this year, who accounted for 40% of the team’s sacks last year.

Who to pair him with: Isaiah Bond, Silas Bolden, Matthew Golden

Kyron Drones (VT):

Drones being ranked behind some backups on DraftKings feels a bit disrespectful. Drones is one of the best fantasy QBs in CFB. He doesn’t turn the ball over; he had only eight total turnovers last season, and he can do it with both his arm and his legs. Last season he finished with over 2K passing yards as well as 818 rushing yards with 22 total touchdowns. He opens the season against Vanderbilt, who was terrible last season on defense. They allowed 455 total yards and 54 total touchdowns.

Who to pair him with: Da’Quan Felton, Ali Jennings

Honorable Mentions: Will Howard (OSU). Cam Ward (MIA). Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi (CSU). Alan Bowman (OKST). Dylan Raiola (NEB).

Value QBs: Mark Gronowski (SDSU)

LeQuint Allen (SYR):

If you were part of Win Daily last season, you will know Syracuse was a cursed team for me. No matter how good or bad the matchup was, I could never get them right. But the price on Allen to start the season is too good to pass up. On DraftKings he is criminally priced, so he will be heavily owned, but in cash and smaller contests he is almost a must-have because his price opens up a lot of players on the slate. Syracuse opens against Ohio, and with a new transfer QB in McCord joining the Orange, I think they will focus on their star back to ease the QB into the system.

Damien Martinez (MIA):

New school, but same Damien Martinez. Martinez, while at Oregon St., was one of my favorite backs in all of CFB. With the PAC12 collapsing and Oregon St losing a lot of their offensive weapons, Martinez made the right choice to transfer to the Canes. Last season Miami was a bit of RB by committee with multiple backs leading the way every week, but now with an established guy in Martinez, they should focus on a lone back. To open the season, Miami takes on in-state rivals Florida, who was average when it came to rush defense. The Gators gave up the third most yards per rush (4.88) of all the teams on the slate last season.

The WRs:

Tory Horton (CSU):

I’m glad Horton decided not to enter the NFL draft and the transfer portal. He has put up back-to-back 1100 yards and eight touchdown seasons at CSU after transferring over from Nevada. I am expecting him to improve on his previous two seasons this year, and that will start in what should be a high-scoring affair against Texas. I don’t see Texas getting upset in this one, but with their bad pass defense, I expect the Horton/Fowler-Nicolos connection to cause a lot of issues for the Longhorns.

Jaden Smith (UTEP):

Before you ask, no, I am not talking about the son of Will Smith. Jaden Smith is an unknown WR to a lot of people, as he has spent his first few CFB years at Eastern Kentucky. The senior WR put up 1922 yards and 14 touchdowns in his three years at EKU. His final season prior to transferring to UTEP, he had 781 yards and five touchdowns. UTEP are a four-yard underdog, so Smith should have plenty of opportunities as they should be playing from behind for the majority of the game.
